Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, March 23, 2026 7:56 AM Huggghh-puuuhhhhh. Hughhhhh-puhhhh. If you've decided to try pedalling away in attempt to master Crimson Desert's bike-like controls, Pearl Abyss' latest patch - which also brings the likes of camp storage quicker tree felling - is good news. The developers have also acknowledged the fact they forgot to mention prior to release that the game wouldn't run on Intel Arc GPUs, with support for those cards now in the works. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, March 23, 2026 7:00 AM Final Vanguard is a real-time sci-fi 4X grand strategy game that puts an unusually big emphasis on migration. We've seen migration mechanics in many 4X games – pops can shuffle about in Stellaris as you slop your colonies across the map, populating the periphery and slowing the development of your homeworld – but Final Vanguard's creators Heavy Pepper Inc want the feature to be central. It's part of an ambition "to model a civilization made up of interconnected systems that influence one another over time", with everything from fleet manoeuvres to industry forming part of "a network of dependencies", rather than treating planets as isolated upgradeable nodes. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, March 23, 2026 6:09 AM Ah, it turns out the eyebrows raised by suspiciously AI generated-looking art found throughout Crimson Desert weren't wrong in their lanate liftage. Developers Pearl Abyss have aplogised for failing to disclose their use of asseets made using "experimental AI generative tools", claiming that these were just mockups created early in production and were never supposed to make into the final release version of the game. |

The Locked Gate event in ARC Raiders has always been a tricky one to manage, and things have now become harder. The Week 21 trials involve disarming several mines when the event is live. This is also a completely new activity introduced as part of the Shrouded Skies update, so let's look at how you can do the needful without blowing yourself up.
For starters, I advise rolling in with a free loadout. Things can go wrong quite easily, and this guide will prevent that from happening.
How to disarm mines in ARC Raiders
For starters, you'll need to wait for the Locked Gate map to appear in rotation. Next, the event exclusively takes place on the Blue Gate map, so this task is certainly very specific. Next, head to any of the following areas.
All these four places are named POIs, so finding them isn't that difficult. However, I have marked the locations on the image below to make things easier.
When you approach these spots, you'll find several active mines spread all around the area. When you're at a distance, you won't realize which one is active and which one isn't. Hence, press the Ctrl button to crouch and walk slowly. That way, you can get close to the mines without triggering them (and blow them up).
Once you're close to a mine, you'll get the prompt to "disarm" it. Interact with the mine (when the prompt is available), and you'll defuse the explosive. Repeat them until you have disabled enough mines for three stars on the task.
If you find a mine but the prompt doesn't appear, it means that another player has already diffused the explosive. In that case, try finding more of them in different areas. Just make sure that the Locked Gate event is active for the mines to appear on the map.

Crimson Desert has received its second major update in little over three days since launch, and patch 1.00.03 adds some features that the community has heavily requested. At the top lies a personal storage where you can stash extra items. It's a major improvement from the previous system, which required you to reach Chapter 3.
However, the new patch also includes plenty of QoL features that were missing since launch. Let's look at the complete patch notes to get a better idea of all the changes.
