Bobby Darin (Wikipedia link) was a young New York singer in the 1950s struggling unsuccessfully to break into the music biz. It was his plan to sing some popular jazz oldies cover songs with a few originals written in the oldies style. He visited a bunch of record companies trying to convince those 'starched suits' to advance him capital and sign him to a contract to make a jazz album. But he was rejected again and again.
Then one day, the down-but-not-out Darin sat down and wrote a song that perfectly "harmonized" with what the public was listening to and buying at the time.

In a very short time, he was successful, had the respect of his peers and became famous to boot. How'd it happen? Well, at that time, "Motown sound" rock and roll performed by black artists like Little Richard's "Good Golly Miss Molly" was getting almost all the radio airplay and the record-buying dollars.
The song the very white Bobby wrote was called "Splish Splash"...and the chorus went "Splish Splash I Was Takin' A Bath / 'Round about a Saturday night".
