Nintendo's efforts to patent the idea of summoning a videogame character and letting it fight another character have suffered a significant reversal in the USA, even as the Mario makers continue a copyright infringement lawsuit against Palworld developers Pocketpair in Japan. The United States Patent and Trademark Office has now revoked the character-summoning patent in question, though their decision is "non-final". Nintendo have two months to respond and argue their case.

Content Warning Console Versions Shadowdrop switch ps5

Following an April Fools Day 2024 debut, the game Content Warning appeared on consoles like the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on April 1, 2026. While it was temporarily free when it first launched on PCs, it does cost $9.99/€9.49/£8.99 on digital storefronts. On Steam, it is now $7.99.

Content Warning is a multiplayer horror simulation. Up to four players don diving suits, grab a camera, and head to a place called "The Old World" to film what they find on expeditions. The key is that you need to survive these encounters with the footage intact so you can upload it and become famous on SpookTube. The first three days determine the rest of the course of your session, as you need to become a success and initially get 480 views by the end of that in order to keep playing. If you do, you can continue expeditions to get more money for upgrades and fame.

Here's a trailer that shows how it looks and works.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTi6n2nZb_A

The console launch of Content Warning is accompanied by an update for the PC version. It adds a number of features. One is that it is fully compatible with the Steam Deck. Another is that cross-play is available on all platforms, and we're able to enable it in the settings.

This is one of multiple "games" to drop on April Fools' Day 2026. Another is City Connection and Clover Lab's browser-based baseball game featuring Hololive Vtubers.

Content Warning is available for the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Pikmin 4 Keychains Return to Japan

Bandai Namco announced it will once again sell its Pikmin mascot and fruit gummy keychain series that first debuted in July 2024. This will mark the third appearance of the candy and accessory pack, which also showed up in May 2025. This time, they'll appear in Japan starting on April 20, 2026. As with past releases, each pack comes with one random keychain and apple, grape, and lemon flavored and shaped gummies. It costs 350円 (~$2.20). While it's only confirmed for Japan now, Asian grocery stores in other regions and some online shops might sell them after launch.

Each pack has one random keychain inside. It also has 27 grams worth of the gummy candy. There are nine possible options. In addition to the past Blue, Red, Rock, Purple, White, Winged, and Yellow Pikmin, the new Glow and Ice types are also possibilities. The ice one is translucent, and the glow one will glow in the dark after being exposed to light. Each one's ball chain keychain matches the primary color of the character.

Here's how each one looks:

Bandai Namco's sold Pikmin merchandise aside from these keychains before. For example, it created bath bombs based on the series. Each one holds a figure inside that is revealed once you use it. Those launched in October 2023. Magnets appeared repeatedly as well.

Pikmin 4 is available for the Switch, and the returning gummies featuring keychains of the characters from the game will be back in Japan on April 20, 2026.

Assessor Matrix in ARC Raiders

The Assessor Matrix is a new crafting material that you can find in ARC Raiders as part of the Flashpoint update. This material can only be found during a specific map condition, and you'll need it for different reasons.

First, let's find out how you can obtain the material.

How to get the Assessor Matrix in ARC Raiders

To find the Assessor Matrix, you'll need to wait for the Close Scrutiny event. While this event only appears during a certain time of day, it can be active on any of the available maps (except Stella Montis).

When this map condition is active, ARC Assessors will spawn on the map at random locations. To get the Assessor Matrix, you'll need to loot the dropships. However, this is easier said than done. Once you're near one, look at the sky to spot three red beams.

Assessor in ARC Raiders
Image via Embark

Every Assessor has three containers for you to breach and search for loot. Enemies will guard these containers, so you'll need to be careful. Once you're near the ship, wait for the platform to show up. Use the platform to climb up and search the containers. If you're in a group, any two of you should keep the ARCs distracted.

If you're lucky, you should be able to find the Assessor Matrix in the containers. You could even obtain the blueprint for the Dolabra, which is a new shotgun.

As you might have found out in the first 24 hours since the Flashpoint update, it's not easy to loot an Assessor. Here are a few tips and tricks that have worked well for me.

  • Use a Photoelectric Cloak. Using it is tricky, as you can't use a gun, so it's pretty easy to get targeted by other raiders. However, this device will complete mask your presence and hide you from every ARC enemy in the vicinity. It's a great device to use if you want to loot without getting stuck in a fight.
  • Smoke Grenades are a must as you'll want to hide your location from other raiders. You can use it to quickly loot the containers and escape without getting shot by other players/ARCs.
  • Having your buddies will be helpful, as will be heavy hitters like the Hullcrackers. Since the Assessor can also have Vaporizers nearby, bring a Wolfpack or two to melt them in seconds.

How to use the Assessor Matrix in ARC Raiders

So far, the Assessor Matrix appears to be required for completing the stages of the recent High-Gain Antenna player project. This project has three different stages, and you'll need the Assessor Matrix to complete the tasks of the second and third stages.

High-Gain Antenna project in ARC Raiders

It's definitely worth taking the extra risk to collect the Assessor Matrix when the Close Scrutiny event is active.

A city in All Will Fall

Post-apocalyptic city builder All Will Fall is coming soon to PC players worldwide, and this guide will help you keep track of the launch. The full launch comes after a successful demo launch period during the previous Steam Next Fest.

Without any more delay, let's look at when the game launches worldwide.

All Will Fall release countdown

All Will Fall releases worldwide on Friday, Apr. 3, and you can get it on Steam. The following countdown will expire once the release goes live.

[hurrytimer id="1199889"]

The countdown is based on the following timings.

  • 6am PT
  • 8am CT
  • 9am ET
  • 2pm UTC
  • 3pm CEST

The timings are based on the information available from the official developers. Any changes made to the launch schedule ahead of the launch will be duly updated on the guide above.

What to expect from All Will Fall

All Will Fall is a post-apocalyptic city builder with a twist, since there's no land. The ocean has completely engulfed the world, and you have to build a small settlement in the choppy waters. Master an innovative 3D construction system to turn your settlement into a full-blown city.

However, things are easier said than done. The building mechanics utilizes a realistic physics-based simulation system. Every structure can crumble and do massive damage if you're not careful. You'll also have to carefully observe the terrain and decide what buildings will fit in a zone.

Simply getting different buildings isn't enough, as you'll have to prove your leadership skills. You'll have to maintain logistics and production chains while managing all the needs and demands of your citizens. You'll also need survivors to scavenge the lost world to look for resources that will help you to thrive and grow.

While there's an option to play the game as a sandbox, you can also complete different objectives to complete the campaign, which is divided into eight chapters. If you're interested in All Will Fall, you can check out the demo that's available for free on Steam.

47 with H.A.I.R. (April fool's joke)

Many want to sunset April Fools' Day, and by that I mean take it to the back and shoot it. Still, its infamy stems from the systemic misuse of a cool premise. It can be done right, so let's look at the best April Fools' jokes in gaming this year.

Codename 47 killed baldness

Baldness is an issue many men have to deal with and most fear. Codename 47 from the Hitman series seemed to be an exception, a man whose lack of hair never prevented him from going unnoticed even in the hairiest of glam metal concerts, but that has recently changed.

The official Twitter account for the Hitman series has just announced "H.A.I.R.," or Hostile Area Integration Resource, a new device that'll apparently help 47 blend in even better in every situation, and that looks just like a bunch of different wigs. My favorite one is seemingly inspired by Leon S. Kennedy's look, though it's less likely to make you go by unnoticed and more likely to get enemies to ignore you out of fear of getting suplexed.

https://twitter.com/Hitman/status/2039357371072315400?s=20

Sega's logo gets a long-overdue makeover

That's right, time to say goodbye to SEGA's classic logo, and say hello to its new logo, which is the same but three percent lighter. You can see the results via Sega's official Twitter account, provided your eyes are good enough.

https://twitter.com/SEGA/status/2039342283384819999?s=20

Honestly, I'm not even sure if the new logo is actually any brighter, and Sega's social media team not even bothering to make the change would've made this one even funnier. And it's a simple joke, sure, but it really made me appreciate how Sega has kept its really unique logo this entire time.

PowerWash Simulator, dirty version

If you're wondering what's next for the people behind the PowerWash Simulator series, well, it's Date the Dirt, a "dirty" dating simulator, but of course.

https://twitter.com/PowerWashSim/status/2039236429394378889

This is probably one of the jokes with the most heart put into it, and I'm really digging the wordplay here.

Image via Square Enix

With writing like that of a flirty character named "Dust" refusing to "settle," this is one of those jokes that I wouldn't be surprised to see turned into an actual game sometime in the near future.

You can see a Pokémon running for 10 hours

Did you think Twitch plays Pokémon was silly? What about that event where a sicko had a fish playing Pokémon? Well, right now we have a livestream of Starmie running for 10 hours.

https://twitter.com/Genki_JPN/status/2039374066025677267?s=20

One of the most common kinds of April Fools' jokes is when a company announces a product just silly enough to still be believable, but you only find isn't real when you click the link to learn you got fooled by some silly graphics and some clown noises. This is not that. I've been staring at this thing for at least 10 seconds now, and I'm starting to believe the Mega Starmie really has it in itself to run the whole 10 hours.

Satisfactory for guys

The biggest problem with Satisfactory, a first-person game where we never even see the main character, has always been that we're not playing as a man.

Well, not anymore, as we'll now finally get to play Satisfactory as a man, or, like I like to call it, Satisfactory Men.

https://twitter.com/SatisfactoryAF/status/2039311819014123615?s=20

As "Jason", we now get to shoot helpless animals, leave dangerous waste lying around, and even drive what looks a lot like a Tesla Cybertruck, the best and coolest vehicle ever.

Sonic the Hedgehog is dead

Sonic the Hedgehog's official Twitter account is one of the best reasons to remain on the cursed platform. For those who don't know, this is not a platform mostly used to share news of Sonic games, but rather a very puzzling official account where Sonic himself or a mysterious entity posing as him shares all kinds of comedy gold.

This time, we have the series finale of Sonic, whatever that means, but it's clearly a tribute to the series finale of The Sopranos, which, just like this short video, ends with the screen bizarrely turning to black mid-scene.

https://twitter.com/sonic_hedgehog/status/2039372222649995275?s=20

That scene puzzled many fans of this definitely-not-for-kids show for decades, but The Sopranos creator David Chase has recently put all doubts to rest, explaining that the screen turned to black because Tony Soprano had been killed, so yeah, Sonic is also dead now, and I hope Big the Cat did it. Happy April Fool's.

Surgeon Raider Deck in ARC Raiders

ARC Raiders dev Embark Studios and its owner Nexon won't be saying goodbye to using AI tools in game dev any time soon. Far from it.

In a Capital Markets Briefing slideshow presentation from Nexon released yesterday, the minds behind the massively successful ARC Raiders and The Finals are fully embracing using AI in game development. Why? Because money, of course. And Nexon says it will be the best and most efficient at using AI along the way.

ARC Raiders PvE

"Every company has a plan; most will get it wrong," said Embark CEO and Nexon executive chairman Patrick Söderlund in the presentation. "They're committing big, investments in tools – but tools won't help because they've misread the challenge. AI may be a race, but the winners won't be the first movers – the winners will be the ones who understood the challenge. Think of game development as auto mechanics. The tools are available to everyone, but not everyone has the knowledge and experience to use them."

The slideshow, spotted by GamesRadar, is addressed to shareholders in Nexon. So, in the end, it's all about how the company can be efficient and profitable, but that's nothing new, according to Nexon president and CEO Junghun Lee.

"Nexon has used AI tools for some time and we're quickly moving past the tool level – to applying context to everything we do," Lee said.

The presentation states Nexon will be using an AI initiative called Mono Lake, which "makes the intelligence available across everything we build and operate – every developer, every live ops team, every product decision has access to the base of information we've accumulated over decades."

And with this, the powers of AI will be used as tools by devs to help create games efficiently and quickly, according to Nexon. But within the presentation, Lee had a very unique way of describe the hit extraction shooter that found wide appeal at the end of 2025 while also getting heat for using AI voices instead of voice actors.

"Beyond the breakaway commercial success, ARC Raiders is a Trojan Horse – a gift that contains a
shift in the mindset about how technology frees developers and live service teams to spend more time thinking and less time typing," Lee said. "More time innovating; less time writing code. It changes how people work. The tools they use, how fast they can move, what they can accomplish."

In attempts to assuage worries about AI replacing actual devs, however, Lee was quick to point out that "what goes into our games – the creative content our players actually experience – [...] remains the work of our developers."

ARC Raiders hero art

"Our methodology doesn't replace creative people, it frees them to create, with context," Lee said. And yet, in the very same presentation, former EA executive Söderlund boasted about ARC Raiders and The Finals as "two games, built with significantly fewer people, at a fraction of the cost you'd expect for a AAA game."

Fewer people, but more AI, is the message they're going with for those who hold shares in the company, I guess. Take from that what you will.

Building a stack of coins in RACCOIN

RACCOIN: Coin Pusher has 23 different achievements to unlock, and some of them will take plenty of time. Almost all the achievement tasks can be finished by simply playing the game, but there's an element of luck as well.

Let's quickly look at all the tasks to complete and how you can get them done.

How to complete all achievements in RACCOIN: Coin Pusher

The table below lists every achievement, along with what needs to be done to complete each. Most of them are straightforward, but some are trickier.

Achievement How to complete
At least you got an achievement Lose any run. If you're short of time, start and end a run prematurely.
New Customer Win any run with any character.
Silver Spoon Play normal runs until you get 10 Silver Coins in a play. Then, begin a new run to complete this achievement.
Hey! This isn't a Slot Machine Game Have any single coin whose score is 777. This is purely based on luck.
Shiny Coin For this, you'll need to have a single coin score over 1,000,000 points. You'll need to chain multiple runs and apply favorable buffs.
Coin God To complete this task, you'll need to insert more than 10,000 coins. It's a matter of time before you finish the achievement.
Clogged Toilet Again, it's a task that just requires time, since you need to poop over 500 Poocoins.
Single-Minded For this, you'll need to get coin clip expansions, but only focus them in one direction. You must complete the run as well.
Sticker Book Unlock and activate all the stickers. This is largely luck-reliant.
E.T. has arrived! You'll need to be lucky to get the UFO, which will then summon an alien coin.
Pylon For this, you'll need to build a tower solely consisting of Silver and Gold coins.
Stretched Raccoon Complete the full milestones track and unlock all the available rewards.
Carpal Tunnel You have to reach a 10,000 combo, which is an extremely difficult task. For starters, you'll need coins that modify the base value massively. I am currently working on to find if there's a shortcut to complete this task.
Keychain Collector Another task that's reliant on luck, since you have to get all keychains in a single run. However, you'll want to go as deep as possible on your run.
Commander Raccoon First, unlock all six characters (one is available by default). Then, win at least once with every character.
Herculean Strength You have to shake the machine 100 times. You get to shake the machine once per run when you're stuck and out of coins.
Rabbit Hole Once you've unlocked the Bunny Coin, you have to get it with the Return modifier. Then, it has to be hunted for at least 10 times in a single run.
You Are the Coin Clip There are 150 Coins available in the current build of the game. You'll need to unlock all of them.
Chip Collector Similar to the previous one, you have to collect every Chip by unlocking them across multiple runs.
Coin Police There are certain Bad Coins that will spawn randomly on your run. You'll have to first get all types of Bad Coins to spawn and then eliminate them.
Prize Collector Once you've unlocked all prizes, you'll have to use all of them.
King of Raccoon First, unlock all available characters. Then, use a Golden Ticket with each of them to complete this achievement.
Scholar Raccoon Complete the collection for 100%.

As you might have already figured out, you'll need to first unlock all the characters in the game if you want to complete all the available achievements.

BO7 Huda trailer

Today is the best worst day of the year, where everyone plays with our feelings just to get a good laugh out of it. And while some April Fools' jokes are completely harmless and disappear as fast as they came around, some have actual effects, for better or for worse.

But what Black Ops 7 did on this occasion certainly falls in the former category, as a new map called GRWM (standing for Get Ready With Me) puts players into a tiny bedroom to duke it out in complete chaos. Yeah, you've read that right: it's just a single room, a very small one at that, where a good number of players are supposed to determine who's the more skilled, or rather, who can spam grenades the fastest.

On top of that, players need to reach a 67-kill goal to win, which is a direct play on the 6-7 meme that is thankfully on its way out. Either that or I'm just getting too old to keep up with the kids these days, which I'm inclined to think is probably true.

https://twitter.com/MrDalekJD/status/2039391639223865524

GRWM is certainly the tiniest map the franchise has ever seen. It's barely big enough to stand in, let alone walk around, and has a dedicated playlist for those who just want to lose a few brain cells instead of tryharding to win or do well in the other modes. Of course, small maps are very popular in Call of Duty, as proven time and again by small rotations and playlists involving Shipment, Nuketown, and other closed-space locales, so you won't be surprised to hear that GRWM is already up there among the more popular modes today.

It's a free-for-all, as that mode contains fewer players than most others, and even with the reduced count, it's complete mayhem. I'd say frag grenades are a must here, provided you can survive long enough to throw them, as the delayed explosion is almost guaranteed to catch a player or three, especially if they are just about to respawn.

I love small maps as much as the next guy, and I sincerely hope this exquisite brainrot remains in the game forever. Sometimes you just want to hop into a match without having any thoughts in your head, witness a few explosions and some limbs flying around you, and promptly leave to get a good night's rest. With how small and chaotic it is, GRWM is probably the best map for this, even if its balance is completely out of whack.

Kliff observing a massive living tree with a house instead of its head in Crimson Desert.

Crimson Desert launched to a lot of criticism and hate, but managed to turn the tide and eventually sell over four million copies, officially enshrining itself in video game history as a certified smash hit.

Though its incredible success is something to genuinely be studied, considering how it got there, many players feel daunted by its big $70 price tag, despite how much content it offers at that cost. In light of that, many wonder if it'll ever come to the Xbox Game Pass service, as so many games out there have.

So, here's everything we know.

Is Crimson Desert on Game Pass? Everything we know

Alpine Ibex in Crimson Desert
Image via Pearl Abyss

At the time of writing, no, Crimson Desert is not available on the Xbox Game Pass, nor has there been any announcement about its potential release. This is primarily because Pearl Abyss, the studio behind Crimson Desert, is separate from Microsoft and isn't either an official partner or a subsidiary of that company.

With Pearl Abyss being fully independent from any major publisher, we can expect Crimson Desert to spend many moons on its own, sold across all platforms, including Xbox Series S and X. It has sold over four million copies since it launched on March 19 and is only going to keep growing, much as its user review scores have grown since their initial lukewarm state.

However, there are strong precedents in the gaming industry for third-party titles to eventually make their way to the Xbox Game Pass. Titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, neither of which was made by a major first-party Xbox studio, did eventually get added to the service's top tier as huge selling points, probably earning their respective publishers a good chunk of change as well as boosting Microsoft's own subscription model.

Cyberpunk 2077 was added to Game Pass on March 10, over five years after its initial launch, while KCD2 came out a week earlier, just a little over a year since first coming out. We can see a huge discrepancy between studios choosing to be featured on Game Pass, though we could justify that with Cyberpunk's long recovery journey, which first had to absolve it of its horrible release. If we go by these examples, we could perhaps expect Crimson Desert to be included with Game Pass by early 2027, if not later.

Furthermore, I would also be more inclined to think it'll come to PlayStation Plus or be packaged with some PlayStation deal, as there are no doubt strong links between Sony and Pearl Abyss. The latter's reliance on the PC market, especially when it comes to MMOs, could lean it toward Microsoft and its Windows-based service, though that remains uncertain.

As things stand, you're going to have to purchase the game on consoles or on Steam, and that should remain as such for the foreseeable future.

Games of chance are, by their very nature, addictive. Just like you keep scrolling on your phone day in and day out, expecting something exciting to come up after a dozen AI-generated slop clips, gambling drives you to repeatedly engage with it in anticipation of that one big win.

When combined with roguelike mechanics, which are also based on chance, randomization, and expectations, the result is rather interesting, as we've seen time and again with games like Balatro and Clover Pit. You never know what your next slot pull will bring or which jokers the store will contain. Every match is different, every pull another stroke of luck, and that's enough for your brain to start firing neurons left and right to encourage you to give it another go.

And, of course, more of the same is always welcome, as this new gambling roguelike, RACCOIN: Coin Pusher, proves. Though not based on traditional gambling games like slot machines and poker, RACCOIN is nevertheless tied to one of the most lucrative gambling machines out there—coin pushers. No matter how old you are or where you come from in the world, chances are you have tried one of these machines that lure you in with piles of coins, making you think that your nickel is going to be the one to push them all out into the box.

But RACCOIN doesn't just make use of the addictive nature of coin pushers in general. Where this game truly shines is how it uses visual and audio effects to make every score and positive outcome you get that much more appealing. The sound of the coins dropping and getting tallied to your total score, the effects of the special coins firing everywhere and throwing the pile into the air, the random spinning wheels that appear every now and again to reward you with extra cash—all of that comes together to really elevate the experience, which, as I've already said, is already addictive by nature.

It's a well-designed game, one whose developers certainly learned what does and doesn't work in a title of this kind and looked at other successful games in the genre like Balatro, determining that it is style as much as gameplay that makes this subgenre tick.

It's already making the rounds and is bound to become more popular still, so if you haven't already, I suggest you give it a shot. If you liked Balatro, you will almost certainly stick around for a few rounds here, guaranteed.

Loki Marvel's Avengers

Remember Netflix watch parties on the Xbox 360? No? Oh, so you were born after the turn of the century. I see.

Those were the days, y'all. They've largely been replaced by Discord video call screen-sharing parties, but Marvel Rivals is trying to do something similar and fun with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and I think it's got amazing potential.

From April 2 to 15, players can log in to the Times Square social space in Marvel Rivals to watch the first two episodes of Wonder Man, one of Marvel's latest TV shows on Disney Plus. There will be two screenings a day during this period for people to view the show, at 2pm CT and then again at 10pm CT.

I really think this is awesome. Marvel (and Disney) clearly sees that Rivals is a big hit and a good vessel to onboard players into other parts of its IP, like the MCU and shows like Wonder Man. If successful, this could mean more watch parties in the future, and with some bigger shows or even MCU movies once they're available.

Marvel Rivals' MCU celebration continues throughout the year with periodic content drops leading up to Avengers: Doomsday in December, and it begins soon with an asymmetrical mode where one player is Loki and the rest are Avengers, inspired by the original Marvel's Avengers from 2012. This Wonder Man promo just furthers the idea that Disney and Marvel see big potential in the game and what it could bring to the brand.

If they choose to do so, Disney and Marvel could allow NetEase to screen anything on Disney Plus or anything in Marvel's giant back catalog, like classic cartoons, or previous seasons of shows getting a new premiere. X-Men '97, anyone?

I personally haven't had time to watch Wonder Man (and I only recently resubscribed to Disney Plus for Daredevil: Born Again season two), but critic and user reviews both speak quite highly of it. I may hop on Rivals tomorrow to see what the experience in the game is like while giving a gander at the show.

The special Times Square limited screening in Marvel Rivals begins tomorrow on all platforms, so if you're curious about Wonder Man, like me, it's worth checking out.
