Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, March 26, 2026 6:55 PM I've already spoken once today about my intrigue around permanency today, so why not keep that train running. Star Wars Zero Company, a strategy game with XCOM in its veins and execution, is continuing on its spiritual predecessors lineage by having the most controversial of all video deaths as a main feature: permadeath. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, March 26, 2026 5:55 PM The appearance of AI in art is nothing new, hell, Mr. Movies himself Steven Spielberg literally made A.I. Artificial Intelligence near the start of the millenia. But that was the Cool AI, where robots could be people, too, if we let them. Now what we have is the Donkey Bollocks AI that produces garbage facsimiles of things we know and actually like. But that doesn't mean it's not worth considering AI, and I really need you to bear with me here, within our art, as that's exactly what the team behind Pragmata did (without touching the stuff). |

Square Enix announced that the Japanese CERO age rating for FFXIV will change with the upcoming Patch 7.5. The current CERO rating for the game is CERO C, and after the changes in the upcoming patch the rating will change to a CERO D, the second highest in the rating organization.
The company specified that the reason for the change in CERO age rating for FFXIV comes from the use of the Group Pose feature. Under the current CERO C rating, the developers would have to add restriction to the feature. In order to keep the freedom currently available with the Group Pose feature, the company decided to accept the change to the CERO D rating. However, Square Enix didn't specify what would these restrictions entail.
Square Enix also confirmed that this change will only affect the age rating of Final Fantasy XIV in Japan, and that the content of Final Fantasy XIV will remain unaffected. However, players under the age of 17 will need their parents or guardians to review the changes to the rating once it arrives with the 7.5 patch.
For those unfamiliar with the CERO rating system, players ages 15 and up can play titles with a rating of CERO C. As for the CERO D rating, this means only players aged 17 and up can play, and that some of the CERO D games include adult material. The age rating above CERO D and the highest is CERO Z. It is only used for games that contain strong adult material, such as gore, nudity, and sexual content, and it's illegal for minors to purchase video games with this rating.
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the 7.5 Part 1 patch release date is set for April 28, 2026.

Square Enix announced it will end service of the Japanese version of War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius on May 28, 2026. It launched in November 2019. The worldwide version of the already closed in May 2025.
Square Enix announced the news on its official website and social media accounts. In the messages, the company thanked players for all of their support over the years, as well as apologized for the sudden end. The statement on the website explained that since launching the game, the developers tried to deliver as good of a product as they could. However, it didn't believe that it can create a game that would satisfy customers anymore, which is why it decided to shut the game down.
You will no longer be able to buy any premium currency in the game. However, if you already have some, you can continue to use that until the game goes offline. If the game ends with you still having premium currency left over, you will be eligible for a refund.
War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is a tactical role-playing game that was a spin-off of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. It plays in a similar way to the Tactics games. Coincidentally, the global version of the game came out the year after the Japanese version, as well as ended a year before the Japanese one.
War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is available on mobile devices in Japan. It will end service on May 28, 2026.

The Fated Shadow sword is one of those rare weapons in Crimson Desert that you can miss quite easily. However, its Greysoul Howling ability is one, if not the best, weapon skill that you can utilize. Sadly, the weapon isn't part of a quest, so you'll need to put in some extra effort to find it.
Table of contents
Fated Shadow sword location in Crimson Desert
To find the Fated Shadow sword, you'll need to head to the Abyss region at Nest of Valor. The region is near the Dry Valley. This area might remain hidden for you. If you have reached the endgame content, you'll reach the Abyss area after defeating the Goyen boss in Chapter 9.
Once the Abyss map is available, use the nexus on the small island next to the Dry Valley. This is the easiest way to travel to the spot where you can find the Fated Shadow sword.
How to reach the Fated Shadow sword in Crimson Desert
Once you arrive at the spot, the main path will be split into two directions. Take the path going right, and you'll arrive at a small cave. Take the staircase next to the cave, and head upstairs. Inside, you'll get a Fishball Soup recipe if you haven't visited the location previously.
Keep traveling to the back of the cave, and a small icon will appear near a bucket and a few other objects kept on the floor. You'll really need to be close to the spot for the marker to appear. This is the same spot from where you'll manage to interact and add the Fated Shadow sword to your arsenal.
How does Greysoul Howling work in Crimson Desert
The Fated Shadows sword comes pre-built with the Greysoul Howling ability. You can activate it by pressing the R1/RB and R2/RT buttons, and it requires Spirit to work. It will call the ghost of Goyen, which releases a sweeping strike of shadow energy across the target area.
This ability is one of the best attacks, in my opinion, and you can target individual/multiple enemies with it. You can always choose to sell the ability and the sword, but I have kept both in my arsenal.

Climbing massive spires is just one of the countless activities players can do in Crimson Desert and, in fact, is one of the most important, even if it is mostly optional. They are usually gateways to various Abyss puzzles, some of which unlock powerful new skills and abilities.
The Spire of Ringing Truth is a challenging one, especially due to the excruciatingly difficult boss fight that's necessary to complete it and reach its related Abyss levels. So, if you're struggling, here's what you need to do.
Table of contents
How to solve the Spire of Ringing truth puzzle in Crimson Desert
The initial challenge of the Spire of Ringing Truth is climbing it. What you need to do is reach the very top of the spire, using its interior wooden platforms to do it. You are tasked with essentially climbing over numerous scaffoldings, with the goal of taking down the massive bell at the top of the Spire, and then sending it crashing down to the bottom to open up the next area.
The best way to do this is to scale the walls rather than the scaffolds. You can generally reach just about every level of the Spire by walking up to the pillars next to the winding stairs and climbing them to the top, using the scaffolds and platforms along the way to reset your stamina.
A roadblock you'll eventually come across is when you reach the huge hole in the ceiling with no apparent way to go up. You need to climb the platform on the right, and you can do so by engaging the climbing mechanic on the wood beneath it and then sliding to the platform until you're allowed to go up. If you have the stamina, you can use Axiom Force's high jump to propel yourself upward, though it is rather costly.
Once through the hole, continue pressing toward the bell, and then use Axiom Force to hit the loose chains holding it to start the cutscene and send it down. It'll open up a massive hole leading to the bottom of the Spire, which you can go through to get to the next mandatory area.
How to beat Priscus the Ancient in Crimson Desert
Now for the fun part. Priscus the Ancient is an excruciatingly challenging boss, but one that can easily be brought down if you use a very specific skill, which at this point describes just about every boss in this game.
Once you've jumped down, the fight won't engage until you go near the massive blue laser in the wall, so I'd recommend you use this calm before the storm to unlock the Nature's Snare ability. It allows you to enter Focus and then activate spinning leaves that block any incoming projectiles. On top of that, you can upgrade it to get yet another ability, which lets you use those absorbed attacks against the enemy, dealing massive damage to their Poise but also potentially knocking them down.
To say these are absolutely mandatory for Priscus would be an understatement, as this boss more or less cannot be killed without these two skills, and especially the first one.
Once you have them, engage the fight and watch for Priscus' attacks. The primary attack you need to watch out for is telegraphed by his flying up and summoning several squares around him, which start firing loads of projectiles at you after a brief delay. Use Nature's Snare to block these projectiles and then use the counterattack to deal huge damage to his Poise and HP.
This can be done on most of his projectile-based attacks, but whenever he tries to plant those explosives on the ground or summon the squares above your head with extended spikes, Nature's Snare won't help, and you'll have to rely on old-fashioned dodging.
Furthermore, Nature's Snare can be used when he's not using any projectiles at all, and so long as you channel it enough, the Poise damage from the counterattack should still be substantial. Once he's knocked down, you can perform a finisher on him for huge HP damage, while using the Crows dropped by Crowcaller can help you get ranged hits in for when he flies away.
With Priscus dead, you'll be able to go to the laser mentioned above and enter the Abyss, leading you into a chain of puzzles that'll eventually grant you the Frost Imbue Element skill.

Life is Strange Reunion is now available on PC and consoles, and there are plenty of graphics settings to tweak if you want the best performance. The general performance in the first couple of hours has been pretty smooth. However, I have encountered some minor stutters on my system, and these settings should help you to fix any issues that might occur.
Best Life is Strange Reunion Graphics settings
Before I deep dive into the settings, here's my current setup.
Here's another pointer: the settings mentioned below are mostly meant for systems that are on the lower end when it comes to your rig capacity. If you already own a setup that's overpowered by current times, you don't need to bother much. Things should be fine on the default settings.
For now, I have kept the FPS capped at 60 to ensure smooth overall performance. I tried uncapped, but there were a few stutters. VSync is turned off by default, and there doesn't seem to be a point in turning it on. You gain very little in my experience, and keeping it turned off will ease the load on your hardware.
Overall, the general performance of Life is Strange Reunion is pretty consistent, and the few issues should be sorted out over the next few patches.
