Just shy of two weeks ago I sent you an email that was getting a bit long when I touched on the possibility that some folks might not have pictures or examples of the custom “design your own” jewelry they are considering to hire us to make for them.
“No pictures? No problem,” we said in that email-- stating that you can make a verbal or written description of a ring or other piece of jewelry and our jewelers can make sense of it by connecting the dots-- or we’ll come back to you with questions and refinements until we’re sure to understand what you want.
It’s a slower-than-normal week at the shop so far-- and the break room couch is in danger of being broken-- so today I’d like to elaborate on those previous statements a bit and see if we can drum up some possible new customers this week for our industry-leading custom cubic zirconia jewelry program.
A common question we get is how much information and details do we need in order to make a custom ring (or other piece of jewelry) exactly as the customer wants it.
The short answer: we want as much information as the customer can conveniently provide us based on what he/she knows (or thinks they do). The more details we have, the easier it is for the custom jewelry team to nail the custom ring design...and do it SOONER in the back-and-forth process as we communicate with the potential customer.
The other side of the question is, “Can we make this work with very little detail and/or no pictures or examples from the customer?”
As that Obama-era U.S. Presidential campaign sticker on one of my colleague’s car back bumper says: YES WE CAN!
