People don't remember much from Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, but they do remember the incredibly cringey scene where the game asks the player to press F to pay their respects during a somber funeral. Seven years later, the now-infamous meme has reappeared as an achievement in Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 devs show just how pretty Russian water can be

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is next moving to Russia, and the devs at SCS Software have already provided us a lovely bit of digital tourism with a look at the churches that'll appear in the Heart of Russia DLC. While the religious experience is nice and all, the latest preview gets even more elemental, with a look at the country's water.

Among the wet bodies represented in the Euro Truck Simulator 2 DLC are the Volga and Oka rivers. We'll also see the Vyshnevolotsk Reservoir which, as the devs explain, "has a history dating back to Peter I and has an important social value due to fishing and water energy generation."

The devs are taking a bit of creative liberty with the Svir river, though. "Even though this ferry is not used for trucks in real life, we figured that due to the map layout and to boost the gameplay experience a little bit, it would be a good idea to allow trucks to be transported as well."

Humankind's Steam modding tools have arrived in beta

Modding tools for historical 4X game Humankind have arrived on Steam at long last, hot on the heels of the Fabius Maximus update. The beta version of the tools can be found in the Tools category of the Steam library if you own Humankind on that platform. Once it's installed, you can set to work changing the rules, adding tweaks, or potentially adding all new content to Amplitude's latest strategy game.

The developer stresses that the tools are currently unfinished, and that some functionality has not yet been added into the beta version that's available now on Steam. "You may run into errors while making mods or playing with them," the studio says, adding that mod users should be careful to make sure mods are compatible with each other before trying to run multiple mods at a time.

Humankind's modding system is integrated with mod.io, so you can head to the Humankind page there to select, activate, and manage your mods. Once you've subscribed to mods on mod.io, you can launch Humankind, navigate to the mods menu, and checking the tick box beside the mods you want to use.

Halo Infinite's battle pass won't have

While Halo Infinite will have a battle pass in line with other modern multiplayer games, it won't let you disgrace the Master Chief by making him floss - you can just go play Fortnite and buy some Halo cosmetics for that. The devs at 343 Industries have provided a few additional details on what to expect from the battle pass ahead of the Halo Infinite release date.

"We struggled a lot with dance moves for Spartans", head of design Jerry Hook tells IGN. "We feel that more traditional players would reject Master Chief flossing". However, the personal AI that accompanies you during multiplayer will get some of those more ridiculous sorts of options. "That way you can preserve the militaristic feel without having to break what you would consider canon".

343 already provided a broad breakdown of the battle pass design back in September, and most of those details are reiterated here. But with the first Halo Infinite battle pass, called Heroes of Reach, the devs have confirmed that you'll get some extremely specific cosmetics themed around the Reach characters. Those include Emile's knives, Jorge's grenades, and Kat's prosthetic arm - for the latter item, the developers worked with non-profit organisation Limbitless to ensure prosthetics would be accurately portrayed.

Ubisoft workers demanding company change ask the public for support

In 2020, a number of Ubisoft employees came forward with allegations of sexual discrimination and harassment at the company. A survey found that 25% of employees had witnessed or experienced discrimination first-hand. Several executives resigned in the wake of those allegations, and the company has promised change - but in the wake of similar controversy at Activision Blizzard this year, employees say Ubisoft's actions have not been adequate. Now they're calling on the public for support.

ABetterUbisoft, the group of current and former Ubisoft employees which penned an open letter in July asking for change at the company, has put together a petition "open for ALL our supporters to sign", decrying Ubisoft's lack of response to key demands. The petition is accompanied by a message of "you disappoint us" to CEO Yves Guillemot, in reference to the goofy retention emails Ubisoft sent to lapsed Far Cry 6 players.

The group reiterates its four key demands alongside the petition: to "stop promoting and moving known offenders from studio to studio", to provide employees "a collective seat at the table", for the company to participate in "cross-industry collaboration" to fight harassment and discrimination, and for this process to "heavily involve employees in non-management positions and union representatives".

superliminal battle royaleThe battle royale trend is everywhere these days, and I guess it was about time that Superliminal should get one too. Except not really, because Superliminal is a puzzle game where you solve puzzles by moving objects around and playing with the camera's perspective. That doesn't really scream battle royale, but developer Pillow Castle gets points for creativity. It's going to be interesting to see how Superliminal works as a battle royale game, now that an update has provided it as an additional game mode. The update will be free for all players who already own Superliminal. The new battle royale mode comes as the game's one-year anniversary approaches, making it somewhat of a gift to all players. If you're into battle royales, anyways. Unfortunately, there won't be hundreds of players wandering around a psychiatric map trying to solve trippy puzzles.      Halo Infinite battle pass plans 343 industries how it worksDeveloper 343 Industries only briefly covered the battle pass system expected in Halo Infinite back in June. Today, as reported by IGN, the company finally offered some details on its plans for the Halo Infinite battle pass system, along with showing off some goodies coming to the game's first season. For Halo Infinite, 343 wants to do something different when it comes to offering up a battle pass for players. The idea is to allow players a choice. You can only run a single battle pass at a time, but when multiple are available, you can swap among them at will — they won't expire. The idea here is to make it so Halo players don't lose out on items and cosmetics simply due to a new battle pass getting activated. If you're low on time to get that visor or helmet you crave, you can simply stick to the pass until it's yours.   Every battle pass in Halo Infinite contains earnable items. According to 343, a quarter of the way into a pass exists a l...
