     Genshin Impact elements guide

Looking for a guide to the Genshin Impact elements? Notoriously addictive gacha game Genshin Impact has taken the gaming world by storm - and whether you're just getting started in the beautiful world of Teyvat, or you're completely smitten with the charming anime game, there are a few crucial combat mechanics that you might need reminding of as you set off on your adventure.

According to the lore, there are seven Genshin Impact gods, and each presides over a different elemental domain. The elements in Genshin Impact are: Pyro (fire), Geo (earth), Dendro (nature), Cryo (ice), Electro (lightning), Anemo (wind), and Hydro (water). Every character makes use of one of these elements - the Traveler, however, is able to use Anemo, Geo, or Electro. In battle, Genshin Impact elements combine to create powerful elemental reactions which you can use to devastate your foes.

When building your Genshin Impact team, it's important to consider how these elements will synergise. The elemental affinities of your team members also passively combine into Elemental Resonance bonuses, giving you various different buffs if you have multiple characters of the same elemental type. Here's everything you need to know about Genshin Impact elements, and the elemental combos you can conjure up.

How to talk to Haven, Shanta, or Galactico in Fortnite

Want to know where to find Haven, Shanta, and Galactico in Fortnite? One of this week's season challenges for the popular battle royale game asks you to find these Fortnite NPCs and talk with them. It sounds like a simple challenge, but it's far trickier if you don't know where to find them in advance, especially as one of them didn't appear until last week with the return of Tilted Towers.

So who are these NPCs? Haven is a hippy flower girl who lives in her own little oasis deep in the desert. Shanta has come to the island via the ancestral plane to assist the inhabitants, and she wears enchanted armour. Galactico is the newest NPC of the bunch, who you can regularly see honing his soccer skills.

You only need to talk to one of these NPCs to finish the challenge. Doing so rewards you with experience points to complete this season's battle pass. Each level up on the battle pass gives you points you can use to unlock new Fortnite skins or invest in some free Fortnite V-bucks.

How to glide after launching from Klombo's blowhole in Fortnite

Want to know how to throw a Klomberry while standing within ten metres of a Klombo in Fortnite? The latest Fortnite update introduces us to the gentle giants, stomping around and hovering up all the discarded items that eliminated players leave behind. Their favourite treats are Klomberries, and it's up to you to bring them this delicious treat.

So far, the season challenges have had us complete relatively simple tasks such as knocking down Fortnite timber pines, destroying and collecting Fortnite telescope parts, and destroying Fortnite signal jammers. However, this week's challenges are a little more difficult as you need to interact with a computer terminal at a Mole Time drill site that IO agents guard, harvest stone from Fortnite temples, and of course, feed the elusive Klombo some Klomberries.

This guide will help you find the Klombos, how to get to their blowholes, where you can harvest some Klomberries to feed them, and what happens when you eat the Klomberries yourself. Completing these challenges is worth doing as you will get some experience to put towards unlocking Fortnite skins and Fortnite V-bucks via the battle pass.

     Rainbow Six Extraction operators

Want to know more about the Rainbow Six Extraction operators? Those familiar with Rainbow Six Siege operators will recognise many of the faces in Extraction. Their gadgets are almost the same ones they use in the popular FPS game, so you should feel right at home whether you're using Sledge's hammer or Alibi's holographic decoys.

That said, there are enough differences between the two games that you will still need to adapt your playstyle. Sure, the gadgets are the same as they are in Siege but how they interact with the environment - and what they do to the Archæans that stand between you and safety - has changed a little bit. Weapon loadouts are also not the same. While operators like Ela may only choose from an SMG and a shotgun in Siege, she can now also use Zofia's LMG. Operators in Extraction that are from the same organisation share weapon pools, so FBI operators Pulse and Thermite can use each other's weapons.

Here is the lowdown on every Rainbow Six Extraction operator, including their starting stats, gadgets, as well as the names of their locked abilities.

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey gets another round of performance improvements

One of the main issues that's plagued Elite Dangerous' ambitious first-person Odyssey expansion has been performance - it's tough to keep the space game running at a nice framerate while you're roaming the space game's planets on foot. Frontier Developments has released a new patch for Odyssey and Horizons today that improves optimisation and squashes some pesky bugs.

In Odyssey, the developers have improved optimisation for several features, including cockpit and other transparent glass surfaces, galaxy and star maps, avatar decals, forward-lit visual effects, fine textures on planets, shadows, and emissive rescaling. The upshot of all this is that these things shouldn't hit your framerate quite as hard now, hopefully producing a smoother gameplay experience.

Frontier says it's also fixed a few bugs, notably an issue that popped up while running with cutting tools. This is generally a bad idea for other reasons, but the game shouldn't throw a fit when you try it from now on. The team also says it's addressed a "quantum physics issue" that apparently would happen when multiple players attempted to grab the same item - the devs don't say what exactly was happening, but we're just going to assume it's a timeline split that'll have to be resolved in act three.

Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT review – a crystal clear microphone

The Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT addresses a longstanding problem with wireless gaming headsets: microphone quality. Cutting the cord usually comes with a cost of compression that reduces your dulcet tones to a distorted mess, but this upgraded version of the Corsair Virtuoso doesn't sacrifice your voice for freedom. In fact, it justifies its price tag as the closest wireless gaming headset we've seen to the best gaming microphones out there, even if it's not quite perfect.

You get the headset, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-C to USB-A cable, and a 2.4GHz dongle in the box. It also comes with a padded cloth carry case, which has just enough room to store it all. The carry case is decent enough, but not as robust as a hardshell alternative and the microfibre material inside feels cheap.

Overall, the build quality of the Virtuoso XT headset is strong and comfortable to wear. Since I'm used to far cheaper models with less tech, It's slightly tighter than I would expect from a new headset and rested heavily around my ears at first, although I soon adjusted.

Respawn is working on a Star Wars strategy game with former XCOM devs

Respawn Entertainment is working on not one but three new Star Wars games. You may not be too surprised to hear that one of them is a follow up to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, though you're also getting a new first-person shooter and a strategy game.

EA doesn't offer many details, though we know the strategy game is being developed through a production collaboration with former Firaxis art director Greg Foertsch's new studio Bit Reactor. EA says that Respawn will be on production duties while Bit Reactor handles development. During his time at Firaxis, Foertsch worked on XCOM 2, Civilization IV, and more before leaving in 2019. Following a stint in consultation, Foertsch then unveiled Bit Reactor last week. Alongside Foertsch, you've also got other lead developers and creatives who worked on the XCOM series.

If you're looking for a tease on what Bit Reactor's Star Wars game could look like, the studio explained in a press release that its aim is to "usher in the future" of turn-based tactics games. "As game genres of all types see refreshed takes in this new generation of technology, one thing is clear in that turn-based tactic games have been greatly overlooked and have an enormous amount of room for innovation," Foertsch said at the time.

AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX is up to 32% slower than the Intel i9-12900H in Geekbench

First announced at the company's Produce Premiere event earlier this month, AMD's Ryzen 6000 Series mobile processors should make their way into the best gaming laptops in the coming weeks. Team red claims its new CPUs are 1.3x faster on average compared to its older Ryzen 5000 Series chips, and a new Geekbench benchmark appears to validate this. However, it also seems that AMD's new Ryzen 6000 chips may not be quite as performant as Intel's Alder Lake platform.

The latest entry for the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX on Geekbench database (via BenchLeaks) puts the single-core and multi-core score of the processor at 1,616 and 9,939, respectively. This makes the CPU around 14-30% faster than its predecessor, the Ryzen 9 5900HX, and fits will within team red's claimed 1.3x performance increase.

While the 6900HX will undoubtedly be among the best gaming CPUs you can find in a 2022 laptop, it appears to be slower than its main rival, the Intel Core i9-12900H. For instance, the 12900H is capable of scoring as high as 1,962 in single-core and 14,542 multi-core, making it AMD's chip 18-32% slower by comparison.

FFXIV 6.08 patch brings huge buffs for Paladin, Dancer, and Dragoon

Final Fantasy XIV's latest patch is here, and it's good news for those of you who play the Paladin, Dancer, and Dragon jobs, in particular. Alongside a raft of damage buffs for other classes, we've also got a new data centre for the Oceanic region.

The Paladin has got a handsome increase in potency across its Spirits Within, Expiacion, Blade of Faith, Blade of Truth, and Blade of Valour moves. The standouts, though, are the last three moves, which have all seen a leap of more than 100 in potencies.

The Dragoon and Dancer have done pretty well for themselves, too. The former has got potency buffs to Raiden Thrust, Stardiver, Heavens' Thrust, and Chaotic Spring. Dragon Sight also has more range now, and the targeted party member now doesn't need to remain within 12 yalms to receive the benefits of Left Eye. The latter, meanwhile, has received damage boosts across Cascade, Reverse Cascade, and Fountainfall. The combo potency for Fountain has also been buffed to 280 from 240. To round things off, the four steps potency for Technical Finish has been boosted to 1,200 from 1,080.

League of Legends patch 12.3 notes – big Ahri abilities rework

As we head further into the new year, the League of Legends patches keep on coming. League of Legends patch 12.2 has headed to live servers, bringing new champion Zeri, the Spark of Zaun, and a whole lot of new skins. It seems 12.3 will be a somewhat humbler affair, but there are still some key changes fans will want to know - so, read on if you're keen to know what's next.

It appears that League of Legends patch 12.3 won't be bringing new skins - given that these tend to hit the PBE first thing in a new testing cycle, and there doesn't seem to be any as yet - but we do have some big Ahri balance changes coming up. Principal character designer August 'Riot August' Browning has posted some details around this on Twitter.

Goals for the refresh include "lean[ing] into her mobile mage identity by allowing R to partially reset, giving her more opportunities to carry fights" and reworking her passive ability to "be more useful throughout the game". Additionally, the devs want to "make her spells feel better to cast in lane". You can check out all the changed abilities in the notes below.

Genshin Impact Ganyu and Zhongli banner release time – reruns start soon

The Genshin Impact 2.4 events for January 2022 continue to roll in, and while we're still a few weeks away from the 2.5 update's release date - featuring new content such as Yae Miko - this week fans will be able to pick up a load of popular characters they may have missed, including Ganyu and Zhongli.

There will also be a number of weapons available to pick up too, including the five-star Vortex Vanquisher polearm and Amos' Bow, and the four-star Lithic Blade claymore, Favonius Sword, Dragon's Bane polearm, Favonius Codex catalyst, and Sacrificial Bow. The 'Fleeting Colours in Flight' challenge quest event will also be running around this time if you want to earn a new outfit for Ningguang.

There was cause for joy and concern alike when Intel revealed the Core i5-12400F, alongside loads of other new 12th gen Alder Lake CPUs. Here was a much more affordable, still gaming focused-alternative to the Core i5-12600K, yet it would lack the signature hybrid of fast Performance cores and flexible Efficiency cores that made that chip one of the best gaming CPUs ever made.

Turns out, the concern was for naught: the Core i5-12400F is a cracking slice of silicon, both for the money and for games specifically. Although the sole reliance on Performance cores (or P-cores) puts it behind the Core i5-12600K for desktop multitasking, if it's just the frames per second you're after, this cheaper chip can match and sometimes even surpass its big brother.

Firework actually came out almost exactly a year ago, but the English language version (translated from the original Chinese) was released just before Christmas. Which is a good thing, because Firework is well worth checking out if you have an interest in either horror games or puzzle games. The horror isn't blood-chilling, but rather twisted up with grief and sorrow in how inevitable it is. Similarly, the puzzles aren't going to stump you for long, but they fit very well with the story. These two strands of the game weave together and create a nice, thoughtful experience that's worth the four or so hours of having it.

FFXIV Congested Worlds List Updated

There's a new update on which worlds are considered congested in FFXIV. When Square Enix opened up the new Oceanic data center, it also mentioned worlds that are now too full. In total, 24 worlds spread across the European, Japanese, and North American data centers are now congested.

Europe is the region with the fewest FFXIV worlds newly dubbed congested. On Chaos, Cerberus, Moogle, and Ragnarok are full. On Light, Odin, Phoenix, and Shiva are affected. Eight are out in Japan. Asura (Mana), Bahamut (Gaia), Chocobo (Mana), Gungnir (Elemental), Titan (Mana), Tonberry (Elemental), and Typhon (Elemental) are all full. North America's got 11 new congested worlds now. Aether is most affected. Adamantoise, Cactaur, Faerie, Gilgamesh, Jenova, Midgardsormr, Sargatanas, and Siren are all there and congested. Primal's Behemoth and Leviathan and Crystal's Balmung are too.

As a reminder, there are limitations in effect on congested FFXIV worlds. People can't create a new character on one with that designation. They also can't start a Home World Transfer to one. However, if someone has a character on a congested world, they can take advantage of a free transfer to one that isn't. The world status site offers regular updates on which ones are or aren't full.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Starters Evolutions Shared in New Video

There's a hint of things to come in the last Pokemon Legends: Arceus trailer, as it teases the final evolutions for the three Hisuian starters. People can pick between Cyndaquil, Oshawott, and Rowlet. The video hints at Hisuian forms for Typhlosion, Samurott, and Decidueye. It also shows off more gameplay and points of interest in the Hisui region.

The last Pokemon Legends: Arceus trailer doesn't fully show the final evolutions for the Hisuian versions of Decidueye, Samurott, and Typhlosion. Rather, it vaguely teases what comes after Dartrix, Dewott, and Quilava. The focus is more on the three characters' eyes, while the rest of them is a black silhouette.

The official website for the game ended up updated too. However, it only shows the initial form and first evolution. It doesn't show any of the characters' final evolutions yet.

As a reminder, there are already leaks for the game. Some people ended up already getting copies of the game. This means that spoilers for the Pokemon Legends: Arceus final evolutions are online. Which means people who don't want to see them yet should take care when on social media or online.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus will come to the Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2022. People who pre-order a digital copy will also get some Heavy Balls they can use to catch Pokemon in-game.

NIS Classics Volume 2 Release Date Set

NIS America announced the western release dates for its NIS Classics Volume 2 collection. In North America, people will be able to pick it up on May 10, 2022. Those in Australia and Europe will be able to get it on May 13, 2022. In addition, there's a new trailer focusing on one of the two titles in it, Makai Kingdom: Reclaimed and Rebound.

When it comes to the version of Makai Kingdom in NIS Classics Volume 2, it's a bit special. That's because it takes content from the PSP version of the game not released outside Japan. Petta Mode will be available for the first time in English. The new trailer calls attention to that.

It shows a main menu with "Petta Mode" appearing under "New Game" and before "Continue." This comes up at the 1:08 mark. Once it does, people get to see some of her story segments, hear her English voice acting, and get an idea of what her scenario will be like.

As a reminder, the other game in the collection is Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman. This is a roguelike. You're a superhero who gets new body parts from a dungeon. Each one adds different powers.

The NIS Classics Volume 2 Switch release date is May 10, 2022 in North America and May 13, 2022 in Australia and Europe.

Final Fantasy XIV 6.08

Final Fantasy XIV is back online after a scheduled maintenance period, and with it comes a new patch. FFXIV version 6.08 is now live, along with patch notes detailing the latest series of changes to the game.

The patch notes themselves are fairly straightforward, containing no radical changes to the way the various jobs play. Instead, a number of jobs all received increases to the potency of various abilities. Notably, the Paladin, Dragoon, Ninja, Samurai, Dancer, Warrior, Monk, Machinist, Black Mage, and Summoner saw the most changes. The potency changes range from minor (such as the Samurai's Hakaze gaining 30 potency) to significant (the Dancer's Technical Finish jumped from 1,080 potency to 1,200). Dragoons also received a range increase to their Dragon Sight ability, which increases a target party member's damage while they stay within range. As of Patch 6.08, a Dragoon's buddy can now roam up to twice as far away.

The most significant event of Final Fantasy XIV 6.08 is the opening of the long-in-development Oceanian Data Center. Named Materia, the Oceanian Data Center will improve latency and performance for players in Australia, New Zealand, and parts of South and Southeast Asia. Its five new servers take on the names of in-game Primals from the Heavensward expansion: Bismarck, Ravana, Sephirot, Sophia, and Zurvan. Players interested in creating new characters on Materia (or using the World Transfer service to move there) will receive benefits such as experience gain bonuses, gil, free play time, and special items.

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.08 also sees the addition of new optional items to the Mog Station item store. Players can now purchase outfits replicating the clothing of the male and female avatars of Omega from Stormblood's normal raids. These outfits are sold separately for $12 each, and are gender-locked. Only female characters can wear the Omega-F attire, and only male characters can wear the Omega-M attire. Both the Omega forms are also featured in the Meister-quality Omega statue.

The full FFXIV 6.08 patch notes can be read on the Lodestone siteFinal Fantasy XIV is available on PC, PS4, and PS5.
