Long-running MMO Tera is shutting down

After close to 11 years, the long-running MMO Tera is shutting down. Publisher Gameforge explains in a blog post that servers are shutting down on June 30 at 1am PST / 4am EST / 9am BST as developer Bluehole is "no longer able to offer you the exciting and satisfying content you deserve".

"Unfortunately, we come bearing bad news: Tera's developer, Bluehole, has decided to cease work on Tera," the team says. "After much consideration, the team in South Korea has come to the conclusion that it's no longer able to offer you the exciting and satisfying content you deserve. As the last remaining publisher of Tera, it is with a heavy heart that we must respect Bluehole's decision, and will also have to shut down the game."

The team is running some permanent events until the servers are switched off "in the hope that you'll at least be able to enjoy these final months in Arborea". Gameforge explains in a FAQ that new account registrations and Tera Thaler currency sales will cease on May 31, which is the same day Tera Club purchases come to a halt.

Grab the Razer Kiyo Pro webcam for half price on Amazon

Investing in the best webcam possible is usually a priority for any Twitch streamer, and it could make all the difference when it comes to your content's quality. While a premium electric eye can cost a pretty penny, even big brands like Razer like to slash prices from time to time, and its Kiyo Pro Streaming Webcam is currently going for half price.

Over on Amazon US, the Razer Kiyo Pro Streaming Webcam is down from $199.99 to $99.99, thanks to a 50% discount. While cheaper cams are available, the Kiyo Pro is a high-spec capture device that boasts uncompressed 1080p 60fps video, making it one of the best options for budding content creators and Twitch streamers.

While fidelity and frame rate are important, lighting is integral when it comes to video quality. The Kiyo Pro addresses this using an adaptive light sensor to ensure clarity in various environments, as well as great low-light performance that prevents graininess while enhancing detail. If you prioritise vibrant colours over high frame rates, you can also take advantage of the cam's HDR mode, enabling you to capture richer footage at 30fps.

GTA Online weekly update quadruples rewards on one mode

It's Thursday in Los Santos, folks, and that means it's GTA Online weekly update day. Rockstar Games will post the official rundown on its Newswire later in the day, though the update is already live, so people have jumped in to see what's new.

If you're looking to raise money or grind reputation points, the Cross the Line adversary mode may be the best bet over the next seven days as rewards are quadrupled. If you've been out of the loop, the PvP mode was added to the online crime game in the Freemode Events update back in 2015. The way it works is simple; two teams battle to cross the line before the other. When we think about it, the mode sounds like something you might see in Squid Game.

If you're looking for new wheels to stick in your garage, the latest GTA Online Prize Ride challenge will net you the Dinka Jester Classic, which typically costs $790,000 in GTA bucks. You'll need to win one Street Race Series race for four days in a row to claim this one. Are you feeling lucky? The GTA Online podium vehicle is the Schlagen GT this week.

Genshin Impact events – all current and upcoming events

Want to know more about the upcoming Genshin Impact events? A new version of Genshin Impact arrives every six weeks, complete with new characters, quests, and events. It's difficult to keep track of which events are currently running and if there are any new ones coming soon, so here's a schedule for all current and upcoming Genshin Impact events.

There are usually a number of Genshin Impact events running simultaneously, and they aren't just in-game events. When a new Genshin Impact character joins the game, the devs launch a web event at the same time - players learn about the latest characters through an interactive story told through a web browser. The rewards for completing different events range from in-game items like primogems and mora, to real life prizes like mouse mats and plushies.

Just like the Genshin Impact banners, most events are only available for a limited time, so it's worth participating as soon as you can. New events are usually added to Genshin Impact after an update, but it's worth keeping an eye out on this page as the devs do like to surprise the community.

Oculus Quest 2 update could help you play VR guitar solos

An Oculus Quest 2 update is on the way, and it aims to improve hand tracking abilities. Announced at the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the refresh will address gesture recognition and general tracking performance while negating the need for VR controllers when interacting with the metaverse.

While the Oculus Quest 2 Pro was a no show at Meta's game event, the announced Oculus Quest 2 update could help it stay on the best VR headset throne. The tweaks will apply to Meta's Presence Platform, the AI suite responsible for interpreting human hands within the digital realm.

Zuckerberg says that "In the metaverse, your hands will move as naturally as they do in the physical world," something the CEO says will help developers craft more immersive VR experiences. The Facebook boss uses the guitar app Unplugged as an example, claiming the improvements will enable you to play faster riffs, ultimately helping the experience feel real. If you play a lot of VR games, this might seem fairly ambitious, but the tech has already come a long way since the original Quest headset.

The Sims became a must-have simulation game on the PC when it first released in 2000, and 20+ years later the series is still going strong. In 2020 The Sims 4 made $1 billion and attracted nearly five million new players. But where is all this success coming from? You could point to the life game's consistent content drops and expansion packs, but we suspect it's The Sims 4's strong library of user generated content that's keeping the lights on.

League of Legends patch 12.8 notes – Swain update, Eclipse skins

League of Legends patch 12.8 notes are already offering plenty to eyeball, despite the new update only just hitting the PBE. While LoL patch 12.7 has just touched down on the live servers, Riot Games is wasting no time getting more content ready for the MOBA game as MSI draws near.

Patch 12.7 introduces Arcana skins for champions Ahri, Xayah, Rakan, Ryze, and Hecarim. If some flashy new duds aren't your thing, you'll want to check out the champion changes. While Riot has tweaked a few familiar faces, the most significant change comes to Zeri, who has got a total rework.

As for patch 12.8, though, things are already shaping up for a big update. You've got Solar Eclipse skins for Kayle, Sejuani, and Sivir; Lunar Eclipse skins for Aatrox and Senna; and other unique skins for Gangplank and Yasuo. We've also got our first peep at mid-scope tweaks for Olaf and Swain. It's still early doors for the patch, though, so keep checking back for more changes to eyeball.

Sony paved the way for better PS5 DualSense controller support on PC yesterday, by releasing a dedicated Windows app that handles installation of the gamepad's firmware updates. Previously, the only way to update the wireless controller was the plug it into an actual PS5 – not a problem if you've managed to find one in stock, of course, but bad news if you bought the pad standalone to play on your PC.

Per Sony's announcement tweet, you can download the app directly from the PlayStation site. 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11 are both supported, and using it is pretty easy: just connect the controller via its USB cable and click through a full steps. The single catch is you can only update one controller at a time.

The Intel Core i9 10850K is the defacto 10th-gen flagship CPU for Intel, and it's going cheap at Newegg today. It's been reduced to $290 when you use code 4FSBR2Z26 at the checkout, compared to a launch price of $450. Not bad for a CPU that launched less than two years ago - and a damn sight cheaper than upgrading to a 12th-gen system that requires a new CPU, motherboard and potentially expensive new DDR5 RAM as well.

Digimon Survive Story

Bandai Namco has shared information regarding various systems in Digimon Survive, one of which being that player choice will change the story and how Augumon will Digivolve. Players will be given choices as they progress through the game, which will dictate how certain events will go. These choices can appear in the middle of conversations with characters. Additionally, information about other gameplay systems has appeared. This includes the breakdown of general gameplay systems. [Thanks, Gamer!]

Two gameplay systems have been detailed. These are the "Free Action" and "Search Action" options. "Free Action" will allow players to choose where they would like to go and who they would like to talk to within a limited time frame. "Search Action" is more concerned with the survival elements of Digimon Survive. This is where players will be able to chat with other characters and make decisions concerning important situations. These decisions will impact the story of Digimon Survive.

[gallery link="file" ids="924744,924745,924746,924747,924749,924748"]

The "Free Action" option will allow players to strengthen their relationships with their peers. This option allows players to freely explore the area and speak to other characters while learning about their individual problems. Additionally, players will have the opportunity to discover hidden Digimon, items, and even quest-related items by taking pictures of suspicious places. This can done through the use of an in-game smartphone.

Digimon Survive will release for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on July 28, 2022.

Final Fantasy XI XIV Collaboration Event

Square Enix revealed that the Final Fantasy XI "The Maiden's Rhapsody" collaboration event will return in Final Fantasy XIV. The event will begin on April 28, 2022, and last until May 18, 2022. Players will receive unique collaboration armor through event completion. Additionally, users who have already completed the Final Fantasy XI collaboration event in Final Fantasy XIV will be able to replay the event. However, they will not be able to receive the rewards. The rewards are available for characters who are experiencing the event for the first time.

Users who would like the collaboration armor on newly created characters or characters that have not completed the event can receive the armor. The only time the player cannot receive the armor is if they have already obtained the reward on that character. Additionally, users who already made progress in the event but were not able to complete it will be able to pick up where they left off. Players can begin the event in Limsa Lominsa by speaking with Remumu at X:11.6, Y:11.2.

Final Fantasy XIV has collaborated with other Square Enix properties in the past. This has included a Dragon Quest crossover, a Final Fantasy XIII crossover, and other Final Fantasy XI crossover events. During a previous Final Fantasy XI collaboration event, players could take on a giant Shantotto to receive a minion.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Konami Name Change

Konami will potentially be changing its name to Konami Group Corporation on July 1, 2022. The change will be decided during a meeting with shareholders. If the group approves, Konami will officially change its name to Konami Group Corporation. This also marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Konami. The corporation is aiming for further growth, and states that it would like to "take on new challenges." [Thanks, Game Watch!]

Konami, alongside having developed and published games, is known for its holdings in "sports" related business. This includes the ownership of sports and fitness centers. Additionally, Konami has also been involved in the "amusement" business, with the development and creation of several pachislot machines. It is unclear which direction Konami will potentially go or attempt to spread out to through further operations.

In January 2022, Konami released a series of Castlevania-related NFTs. The NFTs consisted of artwork and music from the series. This included tracks like "Vampire Killer" and "Bloody Tears" from different Castlevania games. They were available to obtain as NFTs for a limited time. In February 2022, a financial report revealed that Konami had further interest in creating and selling NFTs. However, future projects regarding the distribution of NFTs have yet to appear.

Bandai Namco has shared pre-order rewards for Digimon Survive, which includes access to Guilmon. Those who pre-order Digimon Survive will receive a code to obtain Guilmon, who can eventually be Digivolved into Gallantmon. Additionally, the fine print reveals that the pre-order bonus code must be redeemed before July 27, 2023. [Thanks, Gamer!]

Additional pre-order bonuses are listed on the website. These are unique to which retailer Japanese consumers pre-order or purchase the game through. However, Bandai Namco has revealed that the digital versions of Digimon Survive will also have pre-order bonuses. Additionally, the Nintendo Switch version of the game will come with its own set of special bonuses when purchased through the Nintendo eShop. In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Kirby series, Takarajima will release a room light and a plush pouch. You will be able to purchase them from stores such as Lawson and HMV starting April 25, 2022. Both of these items are limited for the 30th anniversary and will come as bonuses with the Kirby 30th Anniversary book. [Thanks, Denfaminicogamer!]

The room light looks like Kirby lying down on his stomach. It is made of PVC, and the light inside is LED, which keeps it from becoming too hot. There are three adjustable levels for how bright the light is. It is around 8.8 centimeters tall and 11.5 centimeters wide, which means that it can fit in the palm of your hand.

As for the pouch, it is a keychain that looks like Kirby waving a hand. The zipper for you to put things in him is on his back. Considering that it is around the same size as the light (8.8 x 15 x 11 cm), it may be suitable for small items such as keys or change. The bottom of the Kirby pouch's foot and the Kirby light's stomach have the 30th anniversary logo on them.

[gallery columns="2" ids="924716,924717" link="file"]

These items are bonuses when you purchase the anniversary book. The book introduces 30 variations of Kirby over the years. It will also show off other characters such as Meta Knight and King Dedede. The book with the light will cost 2948 JPY (around $22.95) and the book with the pouch will cost 2288 JPY ($17.80).

[gallery columns="1" link="file" ids="924720"]

The Kirby 30th anniversary book and items will come out on April 25, 2022. Other Kirby collaborations for the 30th anniversary include one with Craft Boss and one with U-Treasure.
