Destiny 2 Exotic reworks are underwhelming, say players

A slew of Destiny 2 Exotic reworks are coming to the FPS game, but player feedback on the pending changes shows Guardians aren't happy with the planned buffs and nerfs.

With Destiny 2 season 19 on the horizon, Guardians were initially excited to learn that the developers planned to rework more than 25 Exotic weapons. The phrasing led people to believe that Bungie would completely overhaul some weapons to offer more specific features, perks, and use cases.

Warhammer 40k Darktide review – Chaos incarnate

The time I've put in for our Warhammer 40k Darktide review has been split, roughly evenly, between gleefully scything my way through hordes of shambling Chaos monstrosities shoulder to shoulder with my ragamuffin comrades, and poring over graphics options menus and forum posts, trying to get the co-op game to run. When Darktide is working, it's brilliant: its action unfolds in the most vivid depiction of the 41st millennium ever seen in a game, and it's told from a fresh outsider's perspective.

Unfortunately, all of Darktide's fantastic worldbuilding and dynamic, teamplay-based violence often gets sidelined by the host of technical issues still storming around like a rogue plague ogryn. Simply getting things to the point at which I could finish a run on my PC, which includes an AMD Ryzen 9 3900x and an Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti running with 32 GB of RAM, has taken constant tweaking and fiddling. Using any of the ray-tracing options has resulted in frequent crashes, and performance across the board is well below what I expect on my hardware setup, given the Darktide system requirements.

The best card games on PC 2022

What are the best card games on PC? It is not a question we would have been asking a few years ago, when some basic ports of paper-based systems and some minigames in larger titles were all we had access to.

Now, there are heaps of games like Hearthstone vying to be among the best card games on PC - it is one of the quickest growing genres in the industry. The best card games offer players a rich and constantly shifting meta, potentially limitless replayability, and are approachable to boot - so it is not hard to see why card games have taken off in recent years.

What that means is somebody (us) needs to lay down the objective truth (subjective opinion) on which are best card games on PC (the ones we enjoy the most). We will cover everything from the biggest player in the genre today (you will never guess which that is), the best ports from paper, the up-and-comers you might not have heard of, and some of the best free card games out there.

Within the joyful depths of tabletop board gaming lies a genre known as 'take-that' style card games. They revolve around people pulling out cards that suddenly give them extra power or abilities, with counterplays almost entirely dependent on whether you happen to draw the right card in response. Munchkin is the king of these, at least in terms of popularity, having sent millions of players all over the world into dungeons where they competitively slay goofy horrors.

I cannot stand it, but it is now on Steam in early access, and statistically speaking a lot of people will be very happy about that.

fire emblem engage byleth

The latest Fire Emblem Engage character that Nintendo introduced is Byleth, one of the past heroes you can summon with an Emblem Ring.  Byleth was the protagonist of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, which was the previous mainline title. While the player could choose Byleth's gender in their actual game, Byleth will appear as a man in Fire Emblem Engage.

Byleth will be a support unit. He can raise his allies' stats, as well as use Divine Pulse to reset an attack. If an attack was going to miss, he can rewind time and the attack will land on the second try. There is a chance that Divine Pulse will not work, though, so the success rate will likely depend on one of Byleth's stats. Byleth will work the best when around allies, rather than on his own.

https://twitter.com/FireEmblemJP/status/1598578121888137219?t=SqpFngd6kwWIUAWA__tsAg&s=19

There is also a conversation between Alcryst and Byleth, which lets someone see how the characters interact with the past heroes. In the short clip, Byleth compliments Alcryst on his skills in the previous battle. However, Alcryst takes it the wrong way. After reacting with fear, he asks if Byleth is indirectly telling him that he needs to defeat more enemies.

https://twitter.com/FireEmblemJP/status/1598577212793683973?t=UbxgwOLjQOAcRzSqFqtchg&s=19

Byleth is part of the Emblem Ring system that will be a main feature in Fire Emblem Engage. In the game, you can have Emblem Rings to summon past heroes from the series. Some of the characters Nintendo confirmed so far include Marth, Lyn, and Sigurd. The original characters of Engage can also synchronize and combine with past heroes with Engage in order to boost their stats and unlock special skills.

Fire Emblem Engage is in development and will come out on January 20, 2023 for the Nintendo Switch. It is available for pre-order in the eShop.

Monster Hunter Rise PS4 and PS5 Lacks Cross-Save Support

Capcom clarified just how compatible the Monster Hunter Rise PS4 and PS5 versions will be, noting details about cross-save support. There will be no cross-progression possible with the game. A representative confirmed this to Digital Trends after the initial announcement. However, the additional details also noted the cross-progression and cross-saves will be available for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X. [Thanks, Digital Trends!]

How cross-save support would work would mean someone could begin playing Monster Hunter Rise on a PS4, then use that same save file on the PS5. (Or vice versa.)

However, there will be some cross-platform compatibility when Monster Hunter Rise launches on the PS4 and PS5. Cross-play will be available. So someone playing on a PS4 will be able to go on hunts with a person on a PS5. This feature is restricted by platforms, though. So PS4 and PS5 folks can play together, but wouldn't be able to play with those on Xbox platforms.

There are some exclusive features confirmed for the PS5 version of Monster Hunter Rise. For example, it will take advantage of the DualSense controller. Adaptive triggers will work with some weapons.

Monster Hunter Rise will launch appear on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on January 20, 2023.

What are the Best JRPGs on the Steam Deck FFVII Remake

The Steam Deck can be a handy way to enjoy all sorts of games from players' libraries. After all, getting to play things on the go is always a boon. But given how many titles are out there, pinning down specific ones can get overwhelming. So for this week's Siliconera's Speaks Up, we figured share some of what we would consider the best JRPGs on the Steam Deck and see what everyone had to recommend.

I mean, I don't own a Steam Deck yet, but I'd think FFVII Remake would be one of the best RPGs to play on it. It's a very demanding game, and that the handheld can manage it is great! Also, this is the only possible way you can play it essentially as Square Enix intended on the go. There's no Switch port, after all. Plus, it's a really interesting reimagining of FFVII, and given FFVII Rebirth, aka part 2, is on the way, it could be a good way to catch up. — Jenni

What are the Best JRPGs on the Steam Deck Tactics Ogre Reborn

I was thinking of being cheeky and calling the Steam Deck's best JRPG "a Nintendo Switch emulator," but thankfully Square Enix stepped in and resurrected one of my favorite games ever: Tactics Ogre Reborn. The tactical game is perfectly suited to play on a handheld device. It's a classic on the PSP and Vita, and it'll continue to be a classic on the Steam Deck, or even the Switch, where it also released. — Josh

What are the Best JRPGs on the Steam Deck Monster Hunter Stories 2

The Steam Deck is great for two sorts of games: ones that haven't gotten a port to the Switch yet, and ones that are just a bit too taxing for the now-aging Nintendo hardware. For the latter category, the Steam Deck can be the sort of "Switch Pro" many out there have been whining about needing for some time. A great case study: Monster Hunter Stories 2. The game's only on PC and Switch, and it's great on both, but it certainly benefits from a bit more graphical horsepower on the Deck. As a bonus? You can make the franchise's platform list even weirder, with the first game only releasing on 3DS and phones. — Graham

tekken 8 game awards

After its initial reveal during the PlayStation State of Play, there has not been much information on Tekken 8. However, that changed this week. The official Tekken 8 Twitter account tweeted a short teaser with the hashtag #SAVETHED8, as well as the date December 8, 2022. This teaser is likely saying that Tekken 8 will appear in some form during The Game Awards 2022.

https://twitter.com/TEKKEN/status/1598739581381349394

The Game Awards 2022 will take place on December 8, 2022. The nominee list is already online for people to see what games can potentially win awards for this year. However, this announcement implies that a trailer of some sort for Tekken 8 will appear during the ceremony as well. During the State of Play, we only got a brief video of Jin and Kazuya fighting. So the trailer on December 8, 2022 may give a more concrete look at the game's playable roster, stages, or gimmicks.

Bandai Namco first teased Tekken 8 during Evo 2022. At the time, there was no official confirmation as to what the video was. From the trailer, it appears that this entry will have cinematics throughout the battle, with lots of close-ups and different camera angles.

Tekken 8 is in development for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam. A trailer for Tekken 8 will appear at The Game Awards show on December 8, 2022.

Bravely Default launched ten years ago, and Square Enix is commemorating the occasion with a pack of special merchandise. The Bravely Default 10th Anniversary goods pack contains several pieces celebrating the game's birthday. The company also held a special Anniversary exhibition in October 2022.

The Bravely Default 10th Anniversary set contains four items. A mini-folding screen shows off the cast of characters, specially illustrated in a lineup over six panels. The screen measures 43 inches wide when fully unfolded. A set of four plushies represents the four main characters of the game: Agnes, Tiz, Edea, and Ringabel. There's also a glass "3D" crystal that shows off Airy the cryst-fairy, as well as iconic scenes from the game. A set of two clear files protects documents in Bravely Default style. Finally, a tote bag with the 10th Anniversary logo keeps all that stuff in one place.

The game takes place in the world of Luxendarc, a place balanced by four elemental crystals. One day, the crystals are consumed by darkness, bringing calamity. The four protagonists are brought together by their respective circumstances, and set off to reawaken the crystals and save the world from darkness.

Bravely Default is playable on the 3DS. Its sequel, Bravely Default II, launched on the Nintendo Switch and PC in 2021.

Splatoon 3 Chill Season poster

Splatoon players, beware. Nintendo has confirmed a persisting glitch introduced in the newly released of Splatoon 3 version 2.0.0, aptly named Chill Season. On December 2, 2022, the official Splatoon Japanese account went into more detail.

The Splatoon 3 Chill Season glitches involve the Roller and Brush weapons. When firing any of these type of weapons too close to terrain, some bullets may not fire. Nintendo is aiming to patch this glitch as late as the end of next week.

A different issue was fixed earlier on December 1, 2022. It involved communication errors when using Special Weapons under unspecified circumstances.

Here is the available information from Nintendo of Europe:
https://twitter.com/NintendoEurope/status/1598701235581997058

Fortunately, this new season adds things other than glitches. With version 2.0.0 of Splatoon 3 also comes the new Chill Season, including a plethora of new content. Three new maps, three new weapons, multiple weapon variants, and new gear were added to mix things up. In addition, with Drizzle Season ended, the previous catalog is inaccessible and a brand new one took its place. People can complete it before the end of the season in March 1, 2023.

New play modesare available too. X Battle will be available after reaching a rank of S+0 or higher in Anarchy Battle. Salmonids will also begin invading the regular battle stages. The first Big Run event starts in December 10, 2022 and will only be available for a limited time.

Splatoon 3 is available for the Nintendo Switch, as is its version 2.0.0 update.

Square Enix shared screenshots of the Theatrhythm Final Bar Line ProfiCards and how their sections for characters, songs, and Summonstones.

Part of Square Enix's drip marketing for Theatrhythm Final Bar Line involves sharing tidbits on Twitter about the game. These teases can show off characters or gameplay elements. The latest involves a way to share user data. It looked at the Theatrhythm Final Bar Line ProfiCards players get, which let them show their top characters and songs and share Summonstones.

The new images show what the Theatrhythm Final Bar Line ProfiCards entail. On the page dedicated to them in-game, you can see your own card, edit it, see your collection of cards, exchange them, get a password, or enter a password. The front of a person's Theatrhythm Final Bar Line card will show their three top songs played, while the back shows their top five most used characters and current party.

It also shows how someone can set a Summonstone. People's full collection of available stones appear on the left. You can then choose which one is attached to your card and "given" to people who get your Theatrhythm Final Bar LineProfiCard. For example, the Knights of the Round Summonstone in the example has the benefits "CollectaCard drop rate+20%," "item drop rate +10%," and "trigger damage dealt +15%" when used.

Theatrhythm Final Bar Line will come out on February 16, 2023 for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. In the past, Square Enix shared the full Theatrhythm Final Bar Line song list and teased some of its characters.

Digimon Survive Sales Figures Pass 500,000

Bandai Namco announced a sales milestone for Digimon Survive. The game, which is a hybrid between a tactical title and visual novel, passed 500,000 units sold worldwide. This comes following multiple discounts in November 2022 that dropped its price.

Here's the official announcement. As a reminder, the game debuted worldwide on July 29, 2022. This means it took about four months to reach almost half a million units sold.

This news arrives after multiple Digimon Survive sales appeared over Black Friday 2022. For example, GameStop dropped the game's price to $17. That discount is still in effect. While Switch copies were sold out as of 10am ET on December 2, 2022, PS4 ones were still available at that price. The Switch version is also $41.99 in the eShop until December 4, 2022.

As a reminder, this is a darker sort of Digimon game. After a group of teenagers pass through a tunnel during a storm, they find themselves in a world full of Digimon. They need to work alongside their partners to stay alive.

Digimon Survive is available on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.

Error code 2003 has been particularly frustrating for players, but it's not the only code in Tertium. And you may be wondering how you can fix error code 9999 in Darktide. Unfortunately, there is no current direct fix. Error code 9999 in Darktide is one you get when there's a problem with the game connecting to the server.      Warhammer 40k Darktide How To Fix Stuttering FeatThere are few issues more abrupt and frustrating in gaming than technical problems. Stuttering, in particular, robs you of precious immersion, while also making you concerned over whether your PC or the game is to blame for your woes. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide isn't as well optimized as it could be. And some Darktide players have reported issues with stuttering while playing — but here's how you can try to fix it. Warhammer 40K: Darktide – How to fix stuttering Generally speaking, if you're experiencing stuttering in Darktide, you're likely not alone. Our own Andrew Farrell suffered from low framerate during his review, though he never mentioned any stutters. Those who want to know how to fix stuttering in Darktide need to take heed of the previous information. If the performance is low, the it could be software-related. You may have to hold for a patch or three before playing the game at a more optimized level. Regardless, if you can't wait t...

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is hurt by the loot treadmill featThe Lasgun is a curious piece of kit in Warhammer 40,000. It's not the strongest weapon in the setting, and many people jokingly refer to it as "flashlight." This is what happens when you have no armor penetration capability and only incapacitate human-sized targets 50% of the time. Nevertheless, the lore keeps telling us that Guardsmen love the Lasgun's reliability, and some even forego other weapons to stick with it. Too bad the gameplay in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, the one game where you're actually playing the Imperial Guard, is absolutely uninterested in this trope. Why Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is hurt by the loot treadmill As soon as you start Darktide, you're shackled to the eternal loot treadmill. For every mission you beat, you are likely to get an incrementally better version of the gun you had before. Your current Lasgun is rated at 289 power. The new one you discovered is rated at 295 and does 5% more damage to heretics as long they're blond and Sagitt...
