Destiny 2 former community manager shares how to give helpful feedback

Destiny 2 former community manager Dylan 'dmg04' Gafner recently departed the company after spending seven years helping build the FPS game's in-house community team. Gafner's influence, leadership, and penchant for bread memes helped shape that team into one of the most respected in the industry, earning the respect of peers and players alike.

In a recent interview with Forbes writer Paul Tassi, known for his extensive coverage of Destiny 2, Gafner shares some insights regarding his time with Bungie. As part of the Q&A, Gafner details how community team members at companies that take a public stance on equality issues are likely to face harassment during their tenure. He advises game studios to invest in protections for their employees, allowing people to step away when necessary.

Genshin Impact events – all current and upcoming events

Want to know more about the upcoming Genshin Impact events? A new version of Genshin Impact arrives every six weeks, complete with new characters, quests, and events. It's difficult to keep track of which events are currently running and if there are any new ones coming soon, so here's a schedule for all current and upcoming Genshin Impact events.

There are usually a number of Genshin Impact events running simultaneously, and they aren't just in-game events. When a new Genshin Impact character joins the game, the devs launch a web event at the same time - players learn about the latest characters through an interactive story told through a web browser. The rewards for completing different events range from in-game items like primogems and mora, to real life prizes like mouse mats and plushies.

Just like the Genshin Impact banners, most events are only available for a limited time, so it's worth participating as soon as you can. New events are usually added to Genshin Impact after an update, but it's worth keeping an eye out on this page as the devs do like to surprise the community.

What is the current and next Genshin Impact banner?

Genshin Impact banners rotate every few weeks on a precise schedule, and we always know what to expect thanks to regular updates from Hoyoverse. The developer of the anime game always keeps its fans in the loop with regular Twitter posts and livestreams, so you can plan where you want to spend your hard-earned Primogems.

With a two to three-week turnaround for banners, the roster of Genshin Impact characters is always changing, and the free PC game regularly introduces two new characters to wish for. Every limited-time character banner - or Event Wish - contains a five-star character, and three four-star characters with increased drop rates. There's also a Weapon banner - Epitome Invocation - which runs alongside each character banner and changes weapons every update.

Minecraft glow squid shimmer and shine in the deep waters of the overworld, and drop a very special item. The illuminating creature arrived in the Minecraft 1.17 update as a variant on the regular squid that spawns differently and has a unique sparkly appearance. They bimble along without a care in the world... until you accidentally hit them like the monster you are.

This interesting cephalopod is worth hunting down, as these jazzy Minecraft mobs drop glow ink sacs. These sacs have a couple of unique cosmetic uses, both illuminating text on signs and backlighting item frames. While both are mostly just aesthetically pleasing, the colourful illuminated texts, combined with the Minecraft 1.20 update's upcoming wooden sign changes, provide a multitude of customisation options for both building and informing. If that sounds like something you need to add to your Minecraft builds, here's where to source and gather these special ink sacs from Minecraft glow squid.

The best games like Fall Guys on PC

Looking for some games like Fall Guys? Equal parts infuriating and addictive, Fall Guys is the brightest, bounciest battle royale game we've ever failed repeatedly at - and we have failed at a lot of battle royales. Even though Fall Guys itself is now free to play, after one too many gleeful hours toddling around and bouncing out of the competition, you may be wondering what other fun-yet-competitive party games you can pick up and play with friends, family, or even strangers. Well, wonder no more, my wobbly bean.

A couple of controversial games have tried to directly imitate the colourful aesthetic and Takeshi's Castle-esque gameplay of Fall Guys, but this list encompasses a variety of multiplayer games - from those with a similar eye-burning colour scheme, to rage-inducing battle royale games, and strategic puzzle games with hilarious and mind-bending limb physics. So, whatever aspect of the Mediatonic battle royale you find most appealing, there's sure to be something in this list of games like Fall Guys that you'll love just as much.

How to make an anvil in Minecraft

Want to know how to make a Minecraft anvil? An anvil in Minecraft is a great tool to have, you can use it to repair and rename items, as well as combine enchanted items.

The anvil is similar to a grindstone; however, any items used on the Minecraft anvil will keep any applied enchantments. An anvil can become damaged over time and has a 12% chance of damaging every time it's used - this doesn't affect the anvil's function, but it will wear down until it's eventually destroyed. It's not possible to repair an anvil, so you'll need to keep the Minecraft anvil recipe to hand.

I'll try not to bang on about it, but in the interests of transparency, it's important to stress how much I loathe most soulslikes. Even the name, to be frank. So when I say that I don't love Asterigos Colon Curse of the Stars, it's not as damning as it may sound.

You're Hilda, a stabby lass who, for reasons, must investigate and lift a curse from a big ol' fantasy city. By exploring its districts and stabbing lots of weird dudes. Aiding you is a network of semi-suspicious locals, and the kind of immortality that makes death more annoying than anything. It's a hybrid, really, of a Souls-ish game and a more traditional hack and slash action RPG. Regular attacks don't consume stamina, and instead of finding or buying weapons, you start out with a complete set, and swap their movesets in and out as needed. I respect that it picks and chooses soulsy elements instead of tracing over the whole design.

I knew Minecraft had an ending, but I didn't know that ending consists of an unskippable 9 minute long poem. I also didn't know that last month the author of that poem, Julian Gough, placed it into the public domain, which according to him he's legally entitled to do because nobody at Mojang or Microsoft ever successfully got him to sign a contract.

He now says Microsoft are stonewalling any attempts to contact them about whether or not they own the copyright, and that this silence killed a piece he'd written for an unnamed "global news organisation" because they didn't want to risk drawing the ire of Microsoft's 1700 strong lawer team. That piece was actually an edited version of Gough's blog post from last month, where he explained the situation and submitted the poem to the public domain - while making multiple references to the poem being written by the universe, and also how taking psychedelics lead him to conclude that not allowing himself to be compensated would be a "blockage of the flow of love". It's a trip.

Very quickly, though, it became apparent that, actually, there are simply loads of games the RPS Treehouse is personally excited about this year, and cor, it would be rude not to include every last one of them. I'll be upfront: there are a fair number of TBA games on here that probably aren't going to come out in 2023, but as ever, we remain hopeful and optimistic all the same. So let's dive in.

nijisanji audition

Nijisanji opened up auditions for its next wave of EN VTubers. You will have until January 23, 2023 to submit your audition. There are some basic requirements in order for Anycolor to consider you, with your age and streaming experience being the most important.

You can fill out the application form here. Some basic requirements include being able to speak in fluent English and being over 18 years of age. You must be able to deliver some form of content at least three times a week for about a year, at the very least. While streaming experience is not required, it is preferable for you to have done it before.

Nijisanji will likely provide a Live2D model for you if you pass, so you do not need to have one already. However, you have to submit an audition video in character. You can use your real face, an original character, or an existing model. Anycolor stated that it will not take your gender into consideration, making it an open audition for anybody. If you pass, you should know within a month of January 23, 2023.

The last group to enter Nijisanji EN was XSoleil. They are the seventh generation of EN. XSoleil consists of Zaion LanZa, Doppio Dropscythe, Meloco Kyoran, Hex Haywire, Kotoka Torahime, and Ver Vermillion. Though Yugo Asuma of Noctyx (generation 5) was once a member, he had a sudden "graduation" in mid-December 2022.

Those interested in joining Nijisanji as part of its EN branch can submit their auditions via the Google form.

Sonic Frontiers Switch Demo Available Worldwide

Nintendo Switch owners everywhere can now try Sonic Frontiers via a demo before buying it. Previously a Japan exclusive, the free trial is now on the eShop in North America and Europe. People can download it directly from their consoles. It is also possible to visit the browser-based product page to grab it. [Thanks, BlueStarEXSF on Resetera!]

The Sonic Frontiers Switch demo is a rather large demo, considering the actual length of it. It will take up 2.9GB of space. Once fully installed, you get a brief opportunity to explore the world, encounter some enemies, and see what it has to offer. This also means you can test out how it runs on the console.

Sonic Frontiers, as a reminder, is an open-world Sonic game. In addition to open areas, there are Cyber Space levels that can call to mind the more traditional levels from past games. Post-launch support will add new elements like Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose as playable characters and new challenge modes. These will be free updates for all versions of the game.

Sonic Frontiers is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Windows PC, and Switch, and the demo is available for the Switch.

The Japanese FFVII Remake Twitter account shared a video of the "Luxury Massage" song that plays when Cloud visits Madam M.

The Japanese Final Fantasy VII Remake Twitter account often shares insight into the Compilation of FFVII games. There can be peeks at concept art or highlights going over the remake. The latest video goes over a song from the game. Specifically, it is a FFVII Remake Madam M "Luxury Massage" clip showing scenes from Cloud and Aerith's visit to her shop and commentary.

Here's the full video. The commentary brings up how the themes from the opening of the track are revisited at the end. It also suggests people go with the 3,000G course for themselves to relax.

You can also hear the song on Spotify.

As a reminder, in FFVII Remake, people can visit Madam M to get a Cloud a hand massage. There are three options, if you choose to get one. The 100G Poor Man's Course doesn't give you any Madam M side quest points for the Chapter 9 storyline. The 1,000G Standard Course gives you one point. The most expensive is the 3,000G Luxury Course, which provides the most points. Each option involves a different brief scene between the two characters. The number of points you get and choices you make during this suggestion change the dress Cloud wears in the chapter.

In the past, the FFVII Remake Japanese Twitter account went over the price of "Loveless" tickets and showed off Banora White apple juice.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC. FFVII Rebirth has a Winter 2023 launch window for the PS5.

Fire Emblem Engage overview

With the release date of Fire Emblem Engage drawing closer, Nintendo has released a trailer going over gameplay features in some detail. A nine-minute Fire Emblem Engage overview trailer gives players the rundown on its systems.

The Fire Emblem Engage gameplay overview trailer is in Japanese, and is more or less a condensation of information released piecemeal through social media and other channels. The exception to this is individual character information, as the trailer focuses more on general systems and world-building information. Though there's not much that hasn't been detailed or hinted at before, the Fire Emblem Engage overview trailer functions as an effective capsule view of the game.

Systems like the game's central mechanic of Engaging with the Emblems based on other Fire Emblem titles' heroes is seen front-and-center. Characters can equip special rings that invoke the powers of characters like Marth, Lucina, and Byleth. Using them also allows the character to change their appearance and carry out unique attacks. Different The game's various classes are also highlighted, as is the ability to change characters' classes or upgrade their current class to maximize their potential.

Gameplay in the home base area of Somniel ("Soranel" in the Japanese edition) is also shown in the Fire Emblem Engage overview trailer. Minigames like exercising, wyvern riding, and pet care are showcased. The ability to visit characters, have conversations with them, and see them in their "off-duty" wear is highlighted.

Check it out.

anya dollfie dream doll spy x family

A Dollfie Dream doll of Anya from Spy x Family is in development, though we do not yet know the prices or release window. The company previously released a Dollfie Dream version of Yor Forger from the same series. Though Anya will appear in her school uniform, there will also be a set of her casual clothing you can change her into. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]

Dollfie Dreams are posable, ball-jointed dolls from Volks. While the dolls come with clothing that you can change them into, you can also make your own. So far, there is virtually no information on the Anya Dollfie Dream doll. There is not even a picture of it in development. The official website for Spy x Family Dollfie Dreams mainly features Yor.

Though Anya spends the majority of Spy x Family in her uniform, episodes showing her misadventures on the weekend show her in casual clothing. For example, in season 2, she spends quite a few episodes in a dark blue jacket. This outfit may end up being the one that you will be able to change her into.

The Spy x Family Anya Dollfie Dream doll is in development. More information on its price, as well as its release window, will appear some time in the future.

New Genshin Impact Skins costumes are Ayaka and Lisa Outfits

There will be new outfits for Ayaka and Lisa in the Genshin Impact update, as the two new costume skins will show up in 3.4. Ayaka's will be called Springbloom Missive. Lisa's will be A Sobriquet Under Shade. While Ayaka's will cost Primogems, Lisa's can be earned through the Second Blooming 2023 Lantern Rite event.

The two new skins for Ayaka and Lisa are both outfits based on other areas, with the costumes inspired by the Genshin Impact regions of Fontaine and Sumeru. Ayaka's is the Fontaine style. This marks one of the first opportunities to see how clothing from that as-yet unavailable location will look. As for Lisa, she studied at Sumeru in the past, and her outfit calls back to those times.

Here's a closer look at both from the stream.
[gallery columns="2" size="full" ids="945976,945977" link="file"]

Prices weren't mentioned for the Ayaka outfit. Typically, ordinary Genshin Impact skins for five-star characters that are only available for cash start out at 1,350 Genesis Crystals after launch. The price then goes up to 1,680 Genesis Crystals after the launch discount.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. The 3.4 update will arrive on January 18, 2023. The update will also add Alhaitham and Yaoyao.

Genshin Impact 3.4 Banners Add Alhaitham, Hu Tao, Yelan, Xiao, and Yaoyao

The next round of character wishes is coming with Genshin Impact's new update. The planned version 3.4 update was detailed in a livestream event on January 6, 2023. As anticipated, HoYoVerse plans for the Genshin Impact 3.4 banners to add two new characters: Alhaitham and Yaoyao, as well as reruns for Xiao, Hu Tao, and Yelan.

Alhaitham is the next 5-Star character in the Genshin Impact. A resident of Sumeru, Alhaitham is the scribe of the Akademiya. He played a major role in the Sumeru Archon quests. He's also a Dendro unit who appears to use a sword in the 3.4 story trailer. Not counting the Traveler, the Genshin Impact 3.4 banners will bring him in as the third 5-Star Dendro character in the game, alongside Tighnari and Nahida.

Yaoyao is also a Dendro unit, and is the first Dendro polearm character, as well as the first Dendro character to hail from outside Sumeru. Living in Liyue, she's a disciple of Madam Ping, a prominent Liyue personality. She carries the Adepti treasure Yuegui, which takes the form of a rabbit-like plush. It was given to her by Cloud Retainer.

3.4 banner

As for the Wish banners themselves, the Genshin Impact 3.4 banners will first feature Alhaitham and a rerun for Xiao. Yaoyao will be the 4-Star character on the banner. Midway through the update timeline, the Limited Wish banners will change over, giving players another chance to roll for Hu Tao and Yelan. The weapon banner will also feature a 5-Star Sword weapon.

Genshin Impact is available on iOS, Android, PS4, PS5, and PC. The version 3.4 update should go live on January 18, 2023.

Witch Kiriko Halloween Skin Overwatch 2 support bugBugs and Overwatch 2 are almost synonymous at this point, at the recent January 2023 balance patch has bugged out two characters. Junker Queen was the real winner of the January 2023 patch, with buffs intended to slingshot her into viability. But what likely wasn't on Overwatch 2 and Blizzard's radar was a potentially game-breaking bug that might allow Junker Queen to use her Carnage infinitely without cooldowns. Meanwhile, those screaming for a Kiriko nerf will be happy to see this latest bug that impacts her Swift Step ability. Junker Queen's Carnage is a huge sweeping axe attack that deals a good amount of damage. This ability received a big buff this patch, reducing its cooldown by 2 seconds whenever you get a takedown with Carnage. This cooldown reduction works per enemy defeated, meaning you can potentially have no cooldowns at all. Unfortunately, this buff went on a little too strong, and Junker Queen can farm cooldown reduction off of destructible objects. Unl...

Yet, like me, you probably haven't even heard of it. In 2020 the free-to-play shooter laid claim to a whopping 6 million active players, with most of those being in Asia, and has grossed over $ 10 billion. Over the past few years, there's been an effort to push Crossfire into Western markets, as well as turn into a multi-genre franchise. So, with my limited knowledge of what Crossfire is, I decided to check out Crossfire: Legion, an RTS developed by Canadian studio Blackbird Interactive.
