Disco Elysium Game Boy Demake is Bizarre and Perfectly Captures the Spirit of its Original

User interface and graphic designer Colin Brannan, in collaboration with GB Studio, created an amazing Disco Elysium Game Boy demake. The demake covers the first section of the original game. While there's no music and it cuts some of the dialogue, the demake does an incredible job of establishing that great sense of atmosphere from the original. And of course the drug usage and gore mentions is included as well.

The skill system also underwent some big changes. Skills have been collected into four categories, and you attempt skill checks to advance that skill. Failed rolls give +1 skill cap, and successes +1 skill point if you aren't at the cap. You also get to choose an archetype at the beginning of the game.

You can play the demake here through your browser or download it to your computer. Check out the gallery of screenshots below as well.

In recent news, Art director Aleksander Rostov and Narrative Lead Helen Hindpere sat down with the BBC for an interview. While they mostly discussed the BAFTAs, the duo did drop an interesting news tidbit. Rostov joked that the interview was actually interrupting his work on the previously unannounced Nintendo Switch port.

Studio ZA/UM announced that Disco Elysium is now available on the Epic Games Store for PC users, adding to the audience that can experience the hit RPG. The title is also currently available on other PC marketplaces such as Steam, GOG, and others, and was released for Mac this past April. As mentioned above, the team plans to have it on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One sometime in 2020.

Revealed through an exclusive report from VarietyDisco Elysium's developer, ZA/UM is partnering with dj2 Entertainment to produce a TV show sometime in the future. Helen Hindpere, lead writer of ZA/Um is quoted in the feature as saying "We're so gratified at the response Disco Elysium has received, and very happy to be teaming with dj2 to expand the franchise for other media and new audiences." Likewise, dj2 CEO and founder Dmitri M. Johnson stated "The Dj2 team is truly thrilled about this extraordinary opportunity to be part of it all."

The Last of Us Remastered Load Times Have Been Drastically Reduced on PS4

The PS5 is releasing in just under a month and will drastically cut down load times for a majority of games thanks to the new SSD the console uses. Well, you might not have to wait until the launch to experience shorter load times for The Last of Us Remastered. The game just received an update that cuts loading screens by almost 70%.

First noted by the speedrunner Anthony Calabrese, patch 1.11 reduced loading screens across the board for the entire game. From loading screens to starting from the main menu, everything is much quicker.

If you would like to take a look for yourself, go ahead and watch this video below. Youtuber ElAnalistaDeBits uploaded a video comparing the load times before and after the new patch. It is actually pretty crazy to see how much time was shaved off when it is running on the same console it was when it first released. The initial load from the menu screen went from being over a minute and a half to less than 14 seconds. I am not sure what wizardry they are cooking up at Naughty Dog, but this is quite impressive.

The Last of Us Remastered is currently available for PS4. Its sequel is also available for PS4. You can check out DualShockers' review of the game right here. The Last of Us Remastered will also be available as part of the newly announced PlayStation Plus Collection and will be available at the launch of the PS5.

Persona 5 Royal Blended Tea Sets are Definitely a Thing and Coming This December

Atlus, merch, P5, P5R, Persona, Persona 5, Persona 5 Royal, PlayStation 4, PS4, tea

Pairing with the new line of Persona 5 Royal themed merchandise is the reveal of beautiful and most likely delicious blended tea sets. The set of teas — which will go on sale December 17th of this year at the Tea Salon in Ginza, Tokyo — is themed after each party member in Persona 5 Royal, including newcomer Kasumi:

Naturally each character's tea has a flavor profile based on their personality (with those flavors in English) and even brewing instructions on how to properly prepare the tea and best bring out those flavors. Said instructions are in Japanese of course but nothing that a simple Google translate wouldn't help with.

You can check out and preorder the teas here and they come in two types: the envelope packaging is ¥1250 and the special tin package version is ¥1800.

Atlus has revealed that Persona 5 Royal's worldwide sales have officially reached over 1.4 million copies sold since it was first released in Japan in October 2019, followed by its Western launch this past March. Additionally, Atlus also highlighted that the series' total lifetime sales to date have reached over 13 million copies sold around the world.

According to previous reports, Persona 5 Royal (the updated re-release of the original Persona 5) shipped over 400K copies in its first month in Japan. Royal also topped the sales charts in both Taiwan and South Korea. Plus, it was in the top ten for both the UK and US charts during its opening weeks.

Back in February of this year I was able to sit down with the head of Atlus West PR, Arianne Advincula, for a quick interview. We discussed the challenges faced working with a game that has already been released in Japan, changes in the English localization between the original P5 and Royal, how streaming policies have been handled since its launch in the West, the EFIGS localization, and more.

Recently Persona 5 the Animation received a full Blu-ray boxset release this September, which also included a new English dub featuring the original voice cast.

Shin Megami Tensei and Persona Merch is Here and it's Official

Shin Megami Tensei, Atlus, Megaten, Nintendo, Sega, Shin Megami Tensei V, Shin Megami Tensei V 2021, SMT 5, SMT5, SMTV, Switch

For ages Shin Megami Tensei and Persona fans have been clamoring for some official merch for their favorite franchise and very few have answered the call. Insert Coin has been one of them and that's restricted to Persona 4 and 5 themed clothing, with Persona 5 plushies coming from Mochibi. But now thanks to Fangamer we finally have the wide berth of merchandise we deserve:

Not only does it include Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne and Shin Megami Tensei IV items but also in a much more diverse variety of them. There are pins, posters, clothing, button sets, keychains, necklaces, and more. You can check out the full roster of goodies here, with merchandise separated by game. And it's been confirmed that anything sold out at this time will be restocked at a later date:

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster will release for PS4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan on October 29th. The remaster will be localized a bit later and come west in Spring 2021. No precise date was shared yet by Atlus West and Sega but we'll be sure to keep you updated as soon as possible when the announcement rolls around.

Shin Megami Tensei V is also coming soon to Nintendo Switch, with a worldwide simultaneous release planned for 2021. Likely before March 2021. Be sure to check out my detailed analysis of the game's latest trailer.

Atlus and Sega have been considering porting their library over to the PC platform for a while, but thanks to the success of Persona 4: Golden earlier this year, it seems as though the publisher is poised for a renewed interest in PC. If you're interested in reading a more opinionated take on Persona 4 Golden's PC iteration, be sure to also check out our review of the port.

Anonymous;Code New Trailer Reveals Amadeus Kurisu, Fall 2021 Release, PS Vita Version Canceled

Anonymous;Code new trailer fall 2021 release ps4 switch

On October 25, Mages held a live stream and talk show event for the Science Adventure Series, with Mages President Chiyomaru Shikura revealing a new trailer for Anonymous;Code, and a Fall 2021 release. Moreover, Anonymous;Code is now coming to PS4 and Switch only. The PlayStation Vita version was canceled.

The event also revealed a new Steins;Gate sequel, and a trailer for Steins;Gate Zero Elite.

The Anonymous;Code segment of the event featured two seiyuu: Shiina Natsukawa, who voices Momo Aizaki in the game, and Ayano Yamamoto, who voices Kana Kurashina. During the segment, Chiyomaru Shikura most notably teased that "there are no games in the Science Adventure Series that doesn't get an anime adaptation, so look forward to it". Strongly hinting that Anonymous;Code will get an anime as well. Following Chaos;Head, Steins;Gate, Robotics;Note, Chaos;Child, and Occultics;Nine.

Mages explained via a press release that Anonymous;Code "was being developed with the intent of releasing on PS Vita, but seeing the current state of the market and production environment, it had to be canceled."

Anonymous;Code is the latest game of the Science Adventure Series. Protagonist Takaoka Polon has the supernatural power of being able to load and save. Using the same save slots available to the player. With Polon talking to the player and noticing the saves he doesn't make himself. Chiyomaru Shikura explained Anonymous;Code in detail in a Famitsu interview we translated.

Anonymous;Code was first announced alongside Steins;Gate Zero and Occultic;Nine in March 2015. While the other two games have been released for a long while now, Anonymous;Code kept getting delayed, until now, hopefully.

Moreover, Anonymous;Code is an ADV game (what we call visual novels outside Japan) with a full manga style. The character designer is also a mangaka, Haruhisa Nakata. The story is told through manga panels, and players can use the Manga Trigger, a special power to influence the dialogues and frames. The trailer below showcases the Save and Load power, and introduces multiple characters. Including Amadeus Kurisu from Steins;Gate Zero.

Anonymous;Code New Trailer:

You can watch the Anonymous;Code segment of the stream at the 59:32 timestamp linked below.

CLAMP Legendary Manga Tokyo Babylon Gets TV Anime In 2021

Tokyo Babylon 2021

It was revealed on October 25 (October 26 in Japan) that CLAMP's legendary manga Tokyo Babylon will receive a TV anime adaptation in 2021, titled Tokyo Babylon 2021. The animation studio will be GoHands, who most notably handled the K series or the Mardock Scramble movies. A website was opened for the Tokyo Babylon 2021 anime. A twitter account was opened as well.

The original Tokyo Babylon manga by CLAMP was published from 1990 to 1993 and has sold over 100 million copies worldwide. Tokyo Babylon already received a two parts OVA adaptation, titled Tokyo babylon A Save For Tokyo City Story. The first OVA released in 1992, and the second one in 1994.

Tokyo Babylon follows main character Subaru Sumeragi, an Onmyouji who solves occult cases in Tokyo, exorcising ghosts. Subaru is accompanied by his twin sister Hokuto Sumeragi, and the mysterious veterinarian Seishirou Sakurazuka. Tokyo Babylon is also linked to X by CLAMP, with Subaru appearing in X. It's best not to consider X as a "real" sequel to Tokyo Babylon though. And in general with Japanese media it's best not to worry about what is "canon" and what isn't.

Tokyo Babylon 2021 Reveal Trailer

Not that the trailer is voiceless, and the cast of seiyuu wasn't revealed yet. While we have a name for the animation studio, GoHands, we don't know yet the names of the core staff. The anime's Director, Scriptwriters, Series Composers, Music Composer, etc, were not revealed yet.

It's also important to note the announcement of the Tokyo Babylon 2021 anime was teased via a countdown on the CLAMP Fans official Twitter, starting October 19:

A Twitter RT campaign is also ongoing, with 30 people being able to win the key visual illustration signed by CLAMP:

Additional details will be coming at a later date and this is hype as hell. Another last fun thing to note is that "Xの続き" has been trending on JP Twitter with people hoping that a Tokyo Babylon TV anime means CLAMP might finally finish X.

Oculus Purchases Will Be Deleted if You Delete Your Facebook Account

Oculus Quest, Facebook, VR

The launch of the Oculus Quest 2 has been riddled with controversies. We can tack on another one after news has come out that deleting your Facebook account will also delete all of your purchases that have been made on your Oculus device.

The Twitter user @CixLiv unveiled the news that was verified by UploadVR. You can take a look at the tweet below.

https://twitter.com/CixLiv/status/1319364000501526528?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1319364000501526528%7Ctwgr%5Eshare_3%2Ccontainerclick_0&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eurogamer.net%2Farticles%2F2020-10-24-deleting-facebook-also-deletes-your-oculus-purchases

Facebook confirmed to UploadVR that owners of Oculus devices that support an Oculus account or have not yet linked their Oculus and Facebook accounts, deleting a Facebook account will not affect your store purchases. However, if you are a new owner of the Quest 2 or a new device that must be tied to a Facebook account, if that account is deleted you will lose all of your purchases. On top of that, Facebook will not support Oculus accounts starting in 2023.

When you try to delete your account, text appears stating: "Deleting your Facebook account will also delete your Oculus information. This includes your app purchases and achievements. You will no longer be able to return any apps and will lose any existing store credits."

Oculus Quest

Andrew Bosworth, Facebook's augmented and virtual reality boss responded to all of the criticism and said: "People should continue to make sure their Facebook accounts are in good standing before they buy the headset." He continued on and said some stuff that, well, maybe just take a look for yourself…

Almost everything about the new Quest 2 is fantastic. It bolsters the best screen on any VR unit, an affordable price, and the option to hook it up to your PC if you would like to play games that require a little more juice. However, Facebook just continues to drop the ball again and again when it comes to account management.

The Quest 2 is currently available for $299 for a 64 GB version and $399 and for the 256 GB version. If, despite all of the recent controversies, you would still like to purchase the Quest 2, make sure to check out DualShockers' review of the system right here.

Steins;Gate Zero Elite New Trailer, Update On Steins;Gate Hollywood Movie

On October 25, Mages held a live stream and talk show event for the Science Adventure Series, with a new trailer for Steins;Gate Zero Elite. However, the game still has no release date estimate or platforms announced. On the event, Mages President Chiyomaru Shikura said the game's development is going well. They're using the same engine as Steins;Gate Elite but upgraded. What's taking the most time is making anime scenes for all the routes not shown in the anime.

Furthermore, Chiyomaru Shikura also gave us an update regarding the upcoming Steins;Gate Hollywood movie. He said he's exchanging daily with the movie's staff regarding the plot and various aspects, but there are many things he still can't reveal yet.

You can watch the new trailer for Steins;Gate Zero Elite at the 1:24:47 timestamp linked below:

Steins;Gate Zero Elite was first announced alongside the Steins;Gate Hollywood movie project on January 26, 2020, during the series' tenth anniversary stream event.

Elite games by Mages are remakes that are fully animated, using scenes from the anime adaptation and new anime scenes made for the occasion. The first one of the kind was Steins;Gate Elite, first released in 2018. In an interview we translated, Chiyomaru Shikura said he wants to make similar Elite games for Madoka Magika, Your Name and Evangelion.

The event also featured three seiyuu: Asami Imai (Kurisu Makise), Mamoru Miyano (Rintarou Okabe), and Tomokazu Seki (Itaru Hashida). So it's definitely worth watching in full if you're a Steins;Gate fan who has some Japanese knowledge. A new sequel for Steins;Gate was also announced. You can read the details here.

Apex Legends on Switch Has Been Delayed to Next Year

apex legends switch

After a new rating by the ESRB, it was looking like we were going to see Apex Legends making its way onto the Nintendo Switch sometime soon. We're now going to have to wait a little while longer because the game has been delayed until sometime next year.

Game director Chad Grenier stated in a blog post: "For those who game on the Nintendo Switch, we're still hard at work on the port, but in order to do justice to the game and make it into the great experience Switch players deserve, our team needs more time. This year has brought on unexpected new challenges, to put it mildly, and we don't want to rush anything out."

Grenier continued: "Switch owners can expect to get their hands on Apex Legends next year. And of course, when Apex Legends does launch on Switch, it'll come with support for cross-platform play, our latest seasonal content, and full feature parity with the other versions of the game."

Even though the delay might hurt to hear, Grenier confirming that the game will come with all of the features included in the other versions of the game is great. We have seen how successful Fortnite was on the Nintendo Switch. Hopefully, we do not have to wait too long into next year for Apex to come to the hybrid system.

Apex Legends is currently available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. There has been no word on next-gen enhancements, but the game will still be backwards compatible with the Xbox Series X|S and PS5. Apex Legends will also be launching on Steam alongside the release of Season 7 on November 4.
