DICE has long insisted that Battlefield 2042, its forthcoming first-person shooter, wouldn't have a battle royale component. Today the company detailed the game's third and final gameplay mode, Hazard Zone, in a blog post, and it is not a battle royale. But it's not not a battle royale either.

Genshin Impact Unlock Moshiri Kara DomainMoshiri Kara is a new domain introduced in Genshin Impact's version 2.2 update. It's located on a group of islands in the middle of nowhere, and you'll need to complete a few challenges, too. Here's our guide to help you unlock the Moshiri Kara domain in Genshin Impact. Note: For more information about the game, check out our Genshin Impact guides and features hub.   How to unlock the Moshiri Kara domain in Genshin Impact You can reach the Moshiri Kara domain in Genshin Impact by sailing your Waverider to the small archipelago. The closest Waverider Waypoints are in Asase Shrine (Seirai Island) and Shirikoro Peak (Tsurumi Island). Once you get close enough to the shore, you'll notice several challenge markers which will be very integral to what we're about to do. On the main island, you'll see three Electro totems and three phase gates. You're barred from interacting with the totems, so we'll need to use the phase gates to t...

Blast Brigade Worth It 1I'm often iffy on Metroid-likes releasing into Early Access. There's something about playing a game and then getting slapped with something that says "the game is a work in progress, so none shall pass!" Blast Brigade has entered Early Access today, promising 15-25 hours (that's quite the range, innit?) of platforming action. The current build of the game features 40-50% of the finished product, which is already good for hours of playtime while making it longer than most games in the subgenre. Blast Brigade is set to stay in Early Access for another six months or so, but the question stands: Is Blast Brigade worth it? Blast Brigade puts you in control of a soldier going up against a mad scientist named Cread. It's very hammy, James Bond kind of stuff that is overtly a comedy, but the writing is actually quite funny. The dialogue is fully voiced and there are even semi-animated cutscenes. Blast Brigade's main character is Jeff Jefferson, who ...

Baldur's Gate Iii Patch 4 Is The Game's Biggest Update Yet (2)Baldur's Gate 3 is continuing to fight its way through Early Access, and has just moved closer to its destination with the release of Patch 6. The more obvious highlights of the patch include a host of improvements, new Sorcerer class, and even an all-new region for Baldur's Gate 3. The patch notes are, as always, fairly extensive, and mention a full retinue of improvements, fixes, stability updates in addition to the surprising amount of new stuff on offer. However, the post is sure to mention that the included changes aren't exhaustive, so there's even more under than hood than is listed. You can read the full notes here. The new region in Baldur's Gate 3 is Grymforge, which is an ancient Sharran fortress. Of course, having a new region comes with a lot of new content in said region, as players will find new quests, NPCs to speak with, and battles. There's also a new Sorcerer class included, which comes with two subclasses and a whole suite of n...

Call of Duty: Vanguard's Zombies mode is kicking off a new occult storyline

Call of Duty: Vanguard will be the start of a new arc in the zombies and Dark Aether storylines that have been unfolding parallel to the FPS game's main narrative over the past decade. For this entry, Activision has put developer Treyarch in charge of zombies mode, and the studio says it plans on telling a new, brutal story set against the horrors of the Second World War's Eastern Front.

The setup for the story, called Der Anfang, involves the experiments at Project N Station, which wound up blasting a rift from our dimension into the Dark Aether - a plane of existence so horrible that it's indistinguishable from scriptural descriptions of Hell. Nazi scientists recovered powerful artifacts from beyond the veil, and each of them is associated with a powerful demonic force: the four-armed fellow we've seen in the teaser, for instance, is known as Kortifex, the Deathless.

Kortifex is joined by Saraxis the Shadow, Norticus the Conqueror, Inviktor the Destroyer, and Bellekar the Warlock. All of them look like the types of people the Ghostbusters might have run into at the top of a haunted skyscraper in New York. However, players can use their associated artifacts to wield unique abilities that are effectively magic spells.

Minecraft's copper golem would be a DIY buddy who loves to press buttons

Minecraft Live 2021 is set for this coming weekend, and Mojang has unveiled the final mob that will be on the ballot during the show. The glare and allay mobs were revealed earlier this week, and now the devs have shown off the third possibility for inclusion in the sandbox game: the copper golem.

The copper golem is a short little metallic humanoid that almost looks like a remote-control robot. As you might expect, it's made completely out of copper, and you'd be able to build one yourself. Once constructed and brought to life, copper golems are a bit unpredictable - but one thing's for sure, they love pressing copper buttons.

What copper buttons, you ask? Well, if the copper golem wins the vote this weekend and ends up being added to Minecraft, copper buttons would be added as well. Copper golems would excitedly press them at random whenever they're around, which could lead to all kinds of interesting new contraption designs. You could, for instance, use copper golems to power a random number generator, for example.

I recall a time when some ARPGs were referred to as "Diablo clones." The [insert game here] clone moniker is rather tiresome these days. But here we have a Path of Exile expansion containing demons, and it wasn't that long ago when Diablo II: Resurrected launched. Coincidence?? Call of Duty: Vanguard is once again bringing the iconic Zombies mode back with a pair of new trailers, showcasing some of the mode's new lore and gameplay.      Nanoleaf's latest LED lights fit above your gaming PC and in your bedroom

While Nanoleaf might be best known for its modular, RGB LED smart lights that frequently appear in your favourite Twitch streamer's cam, the company has made a concerted effort to cater to less gamerfied areas of your home in recent months. Following Nanoleaf Elements, which gently flicker warm white light above your fire, the latest product is called Nanoleaf Lines and it looks like an art installation.

Nanoleaf teased its Lines series during its Live Spring 2021 presentation in June, with many speculating it'll take the form of light bars that sit above your gaming monitor akin to the Govee Glide wall light or the Lifx Beam. Instead, Lines are lighter and thinner backlit panels that beam diffused light at the wall or ceiling they're mounted to, creating an aura-like glow.

The lights are modular and attach in 60-degree increments, so you can't frame your photos with them but you are able to create an assortment of geometric shapes. Each light has two addressable sections, so you can blend colours on the RGBW spectrum, and you can switch between scenes on-the-fly to suit any mood. As usual, Nanoleaf includes 19 preset scenes to choose from, some of which even dance to your music or sync to your screen, but you can give it a personal touch by creating and uploading your own if you have the time.

Baldur's Gate 3's Patch 6 brings the Sorcerer D&D class and a new region

Last week, Baldur's Gate 3 developer Larian Studios teased a new class - oh, and some "equippable salami" - coming to the RPG with its next major update, which will be the game's "biggest ever patch". Now, all has been revealed. In today's Panel From Hell livestream, the studio revealed that the Sorcerer class is coming to BG3 with Patch 6, so those fans who guessed this previously can pat themselves on the back for getting it spot on.

As outlined in the Patch 6 notes, the Sorcerer class - a familiar one from the game's Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition source material - is coming to Baldur's Gate 3 with two subclasses: Wild Magic and Draconic Bloodline. The first of these is all about embracing chaos and manipulating "the forces of chance to gain an advantage on attack rolls, ability checks, or saving throws", with the possibility of triggering some random effects in the process. Larian offers some examples, which sound pretty wild: setting everyone nearby on fire, gaining teleport bonus actions, or summoning a hostile mephit.

The Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer, meanwhile, is - as its name suggests - all about drawing on the powers of their dragon ancestors. These are powers based on wielding fire, frost, lightning, acid, or poison to deal damage. This class additionally gets access to a spell that channels their ancestor - so, for example, Red Dragon offers a Burning Hands option. There'll also be a unique dragon scales cosmetic option for these characters.

Total War: Warhammer 3's Grand Cathay campaign is all about maintaining harmony

Total War: Warhammer III introduces the eastern empire of Grand Cathay to the strategy game's expanding roster of factions, and developer Creative Assembly has now revealed some fresh new details about how its campaign gameplay will work. As a Cathayan leader, you'll be focused primarily on two things: maintaining a harmonious balance within the empire, and making sure the indomitable Great Bastion in the north remains intact.

As the latest Total War blog post explains, Grand Cathay players will always need to be mindful of balance - and to help with that, they'll have a big bar at the top of the screen. Each time they pick a lord, construct a building, or research a new tech, the point they're at on the balance bar will shift slightly.

Keeping it close to or at the centre results in special bonuses, such as the ability to call on ancient ancestor spirits to help out on the battlefield. But since nearly every decision you make influences that balance, it's going to be awfully tricky to maintain for more than a couple of turns.

FFXIV Endwalker has a longer story than Shadowbringers

Square Enix is rounding off a story around ten years in the making when Final Fantasy XIV's Endwalker expansion releases in November. If you're booking time off work to dart through it all, though, you might be wondering how long the expansion actually is?

During a recent Endwalker preview event, director Naoki Yoshida hammered home that this will be the most significant expansion yet, comparing its story content the game's last big expansion. "Especially for the story, when we look at the amount of text, cut scenes and so on," Yoshida says (thanks, MMORPG), "I don't want to give such a comparative figure, but there's a lot more here than in Shadowbringers."

Endwalker will wrap up what the team calls the "Hydaelyn and Zodiark Saga", which, broadly speaking, features two groups blessed by different entities, fated to lock horns with each other in a series of near-apocalyptic skirmishes. The story has continued through various expansions over the years, from A Realm Reborn and Heavensward to Stormblood and Shadowbringers.

Larian put blood, sweat and tears into Baldur's Gate 3's latest patch. I mean, they've literally put them in: venture into the scorching heat of a subterranean forge and you'll see a greasy sheen on your hero's face during conversational close-ups. Get blood spattered on you in battle and it'll remain until you take a long rest to wash it away. Same goes for dirt, and bruises that bloom at low health. "We want you to feel you've been adventuring a bit," says lead systems designer Nick Pechenin, "rather than just stepping out of a modelling agency."

If he'd seen the potato-faced oddballs I've repeatedly made in character creation (saves are not compatible between big patches) Pechenin would not be so generous. Even so, I like seeing heroes wearing evidence of their travels. An earlier patch already made the camping system feel more demanding - a small price in food means you can't just spam it after every fight - and now those longer treks between naps can visually sell you on the difficult journey heroes are undertaking, too. A journey that, with patch six, has gotten a little longer.

ElecHead is one of those devilishly clever puzzle platformers that delights at every turn. Developed by solo dev NamaTakahashi, you play as the titular Elec, a tiny robot whose body can electrify whatever surface he touches, causing it to light up a dazzling shade of yellow in the dark halls of a strange, underground facility.

Technically, it's his head where his electrical currents stem from, which you quickly learn how to throw in order to flip switches from afar, create new platforms and dodge deadly obstacles in order to get from one side of the room to the other. The catch? Elec's body only has ten seconds of power left when he's without his head, causing him to explode if he doesn't reach it in time. The result is a stunningly good puzzle game whose bank of brilliantly conceived ideas is executed to perfection, and it left me with a big fat grin on my face for the whole of its three hour run-time.

Deathloop patch update camera movement dlssFor all the praise Deathloop received when it released, there was plenty of criticism on the other end of the spectrum. Many players lambasted its PC version, calling it out for numerous technical issues. Frame drops, wonky mouse-controlled camera, stuttering, all of which helped make up a list of issues that many PC owners couldn't ignore. Developer Arkane attempted to fix the stuttering with a patch, but many of the primary concerns lingered. Today's update, however, is the biggest yet for Deathloop, and it addresses camera movement, performance, and adds Nvidia's DLSS to the game. It's hard to say if the update truly fixes things for all players, but the list of changes are promising. Most notably, the Deathloop update is designed to fix both frame drops and the "hitches in camera movement." Both of these problems have been chief concerns for players since the game launched last month. And it has taken a month to see them get fixed. Clearly, th...

I absolutely have to mention Aeon Must Die's circumstances before diving into it as a game. To put it simply, Limestone Games' head has been accused by most of the game's dev team of multiple abuses, which resulted in most of the team leaving the studio months ago. If you buy this game, know that the people who actually made it aren't likely to benefit from it, especially since they refer to the game as having been "stolen." Still, it's a creative title with some great experimental concepts, although not all of those work out or make for a fully compelling experience, especially as the difficulty level rises. Aeon Must Die is basically a single-player fighting game. Unlike nearly every other fighting game in existence, the story is actually the most interesting thing here. You play as a combination of a former emperor named Aeon and a member of the "Starspawn" race. Aeon is a malicious, vengeful being that was forced to possess t...

Battle Chess 4000 Steam boardBack in the early 1990s, developer Interplay released the Battle Chess games on MS-DOS. This series of games took the classic game of chess and spiced it up with more visual flair, with pieces represented by living, breathing characters battling with each other. The concept certainly comes off as simple, but players and critics alike praised the series quite a bit back in the day. Players nostalgic about the series, as well as those curious enough to try it out, will have reason to celebrate today. Interplay just re-released Battle Chess 4000, the third game in the series, on Steam. Battle Chess 4000 separates itself from other installments in the series by sporting a futuristic space theme. So rather than having the pawns appear as soldiers like the previous entries, Battle Chess 4000 has goofy-looking aliens that serve as the pawns. The game also has a claymation art style, which helps make the character sprites and detailed death animations noticeably more comedic.   But tha...
