American Truck Simulator's missing city means better roads

American Truck Simulator is getting a new California, and as the developers have previously explained, that means an end to San Rafael. There'll be a new city in its place once the next piece of the California rework goes live, which is ultimately going to lead to a more realistic, better-playing road network in the area. Today, the devs have provided a look at that new road layout.

"A major focus of this part of the rework is going back to areas where roads may have not been geographically correct or represent the current standards that we are now able to achieve," the devs say in today's blog. "With more tools to create more complex and realistic road networks based on real-life references, we can bring more true-to-life assets to the road. This includes new junctions, crossroads, bridges, agriculture stations, rest areas, and more. Between major economy cities, drivers will now also come across settlements, which will become a common sight for players."

In more specific terms, all the junctions have been rebuilt, the US-37 to Napa Valley crossroad has been rebuilt, there's a new area around Carquinez Bridge, the I-80 and I-580 merge is more realistic, and the Richmond Bridge landmark has gotten a rework.

Infinity Ward is making Call of Duty 2022 (officially)

Breaking news: a new Call of Duty game is in development and is expected to launch this year. If you hadn't already seen the leaks, you could probably have guessed as much, but alongside today's financial earnings report, Activision Blizzard and Infinity Ward have made it official. The details so far are vague, but they seem to line up with earlier reports that this year's game would be a direct sequel to 2019's Modern Warfare.

"Development on this year's premium and Warzone experiences is being led by Activision's renowned Infinity Ward studio," the company says in a press release. "The team is working on the most ambitious plan in franchise history, with industry-leading innovation and a broadly appealing franchise setting."

There've been numerous reports from reliable insiders suggesting that this year's game would be called Modern Warfare 2, which fits with the idea of a "broadly appealing franchise setting". Elsewhere in today's report, Activision says Call of Duty in 2021 was down compared to 2020, "reflecting lower premium sales for Call of Duty: Vanguard versus the year ago title and lower engagement in Call of Duty: Warzone".

Tim Schafer says new IP only, no Warcraft Adventures remake

While StarCraft: Ghost and the MMORPG Titan are Blizzard's most famous cancelled games, they aren't the only ones. Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans was an early, pre-WoW attempt to expand the Warcraft lore through a point-and-click adventure game. But now that Activision Blizzard is about to be under the same banner as the adventure veterans at Double Fine, is there hope for a revival?

Double Fine boss Tim Schafer says no. "[Former Double Fine developer, now at Valve] Brad Muir was suggesting that we take on Warcraft Adventures," Schafer tells IGN. "You know, the Full Throttle-era adventure game that they made. But no, we like to make up our own stuff at Double Fine, so they will not be handing us any IPs."

In fact, after the release of the excellent Psychonauts 2, Schafer wants to get back to all original stuff at Double Fine. Schafer says "There's been some technical other games that I've worked on that have been sequels, but the first real big follow-up to a big story was Pscyhnonauts 2. I think it leads me to want to do new, original stuff for the next phase. Coming up with new ideas is really where my head is at right now."

Victoria 3 has an all new approach to colonisation

Given that it's set between 1836-1936, upcoming grand strategy game Victoria 3 has colonialism as one of the major political forces at play in the game. However, the Victoria 3 dev team is making some important changes to the way colonisation works over the ways it's been handled in the past.

As a new dev diary explains, in Victoria 3, colonies don't typically start out with a war. Instead, 'centralised' nations - the kind that have historically gotten to have their names on the maps - can establish colonies in state regions controlled by decentralised nations, once they've researched colonisation laws and declared an interest in the area. When you establish a colony, you'll start with a single province in that state region - you won't have an instant monopoly on the area.

As your colony grows, there's a chance that it will generate tension with the decentralised nations in neighbouring provinces, and if that gets too high, those indigenous populations can launch a native uprising, which in Victoria 3 is considered a type of diplomatic play. This could result in the natives expelling the colonisers from their homeland, and while the colonial powers usually will have a significant technological edge, they'll need to worry about the logistics of moving military forces and equipment to and from the area. The natives will be fighting with home field advantage.

Company of Heroes 3's missions are built for a wide variety of units and playstyles

Company of Heroes 3 looks and feels a lot like its predecessors in many ways, at least once battles break out. But its dynamic 'sandbox' approach to the campaign means the developers have had to create missions that can accommodate a huge variety of unit types and approaches. The developers of the upcoming RTS game say they've built missions to be flexible and challenging, no matter which company and equipment you bring to the fight.

In Company of Heroes games of the past (with the exception of the Ardennes Assault DLC campaign for Company of Heroes 2), missions played out in a specific, story-driven sequence. That meant the mission designers knew exactly which units would be involved from the start, and could tailor the missions for specific engagements.

That's very much not the case with Company of Heroes 3, where the campaign map presents a wide variety of options for each move, and you have a persistent company of soldiers that you can outfit and upgrade as you see fit. You might be playing as a British company or an American one; you might have brought tanks, or you may have invested more in logistics support.

Ex-Razer designer has a new controller to replace gaming keyboards

With top-of-the-line optical switches, RGB lighting, and detachable numpads, it's easy to forget that our keyboards weren't originally intended to play games. Now, it's difficult to imagine a setup without one, but Edward Larkin, former Razer elite innovation designer and pioneer of the mouse bungee, thinks "gaming keyboards are the dinosaurs of the modern gaming world and need to go the way of the dodo." What should rise up in its place? A controller, of course; but not just any old gamepad: PLA Lab's Alt Motion Controller.

While your regular PC controller comes with the bonus of pressure-sensitive analogue inputs, losing your gaming mouse leaves you at a distinct disadvantage in FPS games - at least without the aid of aim assist. There are a handful of Wooting, Cooler Master, and Razer gaming keyboards with analogue switches if you don't mind paying the premium, but then you face subpar ergonomics.

The Alt controller aims to blend the best of both worlds, offering a bunch of strategically-placed analogue sticks while co-existing with your rodent. If it holds up to its promise, you'll never have to stretch your fingers from W, A, S, and D to G again.

Tina Armstrong Joins DOAXVV English Version Characters

The cast of characters in the English version of DOAXVV is growing, as Koei Tecmo announced Tina Armstrong is already available in the game. She's available in the Star Outfit Gacha. It will run until February 17, 2022 and uses V-stones. She wears the Dream Chaser (Tina) SSR swimsuit.

This is something of an unusual addition. Normally, there is a delay between DOAXVV characters being added in Japan and worldwide. However, Tina joined the Japanese version of the game at the end of January 2022. She's also among the few mainline DOA heroines added after launch. Typically, original characters are added.

This means that there's also an English version of the Tina Armstrong DOAXVV trailer. If you turn on closed captions, English subtitles are available. Yuko Nagashima returns to voice her for this spin-off. She's played the pro-wrestler since DOA 2,

Aside from Tina, one of the other new characters in DOAXVV is Koharu. The original heroine showed up back in November 2021.

Dead or Alive Xtreme Venus Vacation is playable in English on PCs via Johren and Steam. Tina Armstrong will be available in the Star Outfit Gacha until February 17, 2022. After it ends, she will only appear on "Tina-exclusive swimsuits" banners.

Yes, this is a PC gaming site. But PC gaming is all about options, and we love having the option to play our computer games where we want, even portably. Yu-Gi-Oh: Master Duel instantly rocketed up the Steam Charts with its PC launch in January, and now the game is available on mobile, too, with full cross-play and cross-progression.

Yu-Gi-Oh: Master Duel is available today on both iOS via the App Store and Android via the Google Play Store. As the Xbox boss, Spencer has already shaken up the industry enough for that award to make sense, and is likely to do a whole lot more before his career comes to a close. "Phil Spencer has demonstrated both passion and leadership throughout his entire career at Microsoft. He's responsible for countless impactful and pivotal initiatives that have reverberated throughout the entire gaming industry," AIAS president Meggan Scavio says in a press release.      WW2 RTS Steel Division 2 has a new Liberation of Italy DLC

French developer Eugen Systems has been busy with the Early Access launch of its new Cold War-era RTS Warno lately, but that doesn't mean it's moved on from its most recent WW2 game, Steel Division 2. A new historical expansion pack is out today that pays tribute to the Italian Campaign, and it includes eight new divisions and more than 300 new individual units.

Tribute to the Liberation of Italy includes historical units that were involved in the Italian Campaign, specifically in the areas north of Rome in 1944. Axis forces in the pack include 5. Gebirgsjäger mountain troops, the 4. Fallschirmjäger, the 26. Panzerdivision, and the Italian nationalist 4a Divisione Alpini "Monterosa".

On the Allied side, the pack adds the 6th South African Armoured Division, the Corpo Italiano di Liberazione, the 8th Indian (Infantry) Division, and Task Force 45 - a singular and short-lived formation made up of Japanese-American and Brazilian anti-aircraft artillery soldiers who were reassigned as infantry while in theatre and used their AA guns as improvised patrol and close support weapons.

Dynasty Warriors: Star Wars should be a thing, producer says

There have been a lot of licensed Musou games, bringing the Dynasty Warriors concept to a wide range of fictional universes. Like the main series, they've varied wildly in quality, but the best can be something special - and a world of lightsabers, armoured troopers, and battle droids seems like a perfect fit. At least one Dynasty Warriors dev feels the same way, too.

"Within the dev team, a lot of different IP and works have been brought up," producer Akihiro Suzuki tells German outlet JPGames. "This is solely my own opinion, but my own personal wish would be for a Star Wars crossover." (After passing this idea around the PCGN Slack chat for a bit, we're all very excited at the thought of mowing down battle droids by the hundreds in some Clone Wars Musou.)

Sadly, that's just an offhand comment from Suzuki, but given how wide the Star Wars franchise has spread at this point, it's not out of the question. The license is now with Ubisoft, EA, and more, so who knows how much further it may spread.

New World PTR brings weapon swapping and Outpost Rush changes

New World developer Amazon Games is kicking off a brand-new PTR (Public Testing Realm) today to let players get an early test drive of some new features and changes headed the MMORPG's way. While the new stuff is pretty wide-ranging, there are some changes coming up for the game's 20-versus-20 Outpost Rush mode as well as to some combat features, including weapon swapping.

First up, there are some changes to Outpost Rush's scoring and rewards up for testing. "Scoring mechanisms for contribution have been reworked," the devs explain in the patch notes, with three key updates made: dealing damage will now increase player scores, and the number of points given for killing both enemy players and AI foes have been decreased.

As for the rewards players get for diving in, you'll find completing a match now awards Faction Tokens. Outpost Rush caches now grant two pieces of armour specific to the mode, as well as a mode-exclusive weapon. "In addition, there's also an added 15% chance of receiving a fourth item which may be a piece of Outpost Rush-specific jewellery," the devs add, while the likelihood of rewards from the mode resulting in increased Expertise ratings has increased "significantly".

Where to find Seven Outposts in Fortnite

Want to know where to find the Seven Outposts in Fortnite? We are just over halfway through the season challenges in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1, and some of the tasks are a tad trickier than you may initially think. The rewards are substantial, though, as every quest gives you a ton of experience you can put towards completing the battle pass and unlocking its Fortnite skins and some free Fortnite V-bucks.

Visiting the Seven Outposts is one of the steps towards unlocking the Foundation skin, but there are many other reasons to visit these areas in a match. For example, a season challenge asks you to use rift generators at three different Seven Outposts. The rifts are the suspended shapes found close to the generator at the edge of each Seven Outpost, and you only need to build a small ramp to touch them.

One of the story missions also asks you to visit a Seven Outpost to deliver a data disk you take from an eliminated IO guard to a drop zone. Previous missions include discovering the Fortnite device and destroying the Fortnite signal jammers, and just like those, you need to finish the new task all in one match. However, this can be tricky as other players may ambush you. To help, we have a map showing all of the Fortnite Seven Outpost locations below.

Apex Legends' Mad Maggie used to have a riot shield as part of her kit

The Mad Maggie you'll meet in Apex Legends' next update is designed to be an aggressive playmaker. She runs quicker with a shotgun equipped and her wrecking ball provides a speed boost to allies who get behind it. However, an earlier iteration of her kit was designed for a more breach-focused character who wielded a riot shield and used flashbangs. She sounds like the sort of person who would ruin your day in Call of Duty.

Gameplay engineer Chris Winder explains during a press panel that the team were experimenting with a breacher-style character that was inspired by Polish winged hussars. The idea was to create a one-woman SWAT team who could tackle some of the defensive legends' abilities to lock down a building. At specific points during her initial design phase, she used a flashbang and riot shield, and had a shotgun attached to her leg which she could kick down doors with.

The kit threw up a lot of challenges as the team didn't want something that would be too strong indoors while being fairly ineffective out in the open. Once Maggie came along, however, the team felt like they had the perfect legend to take up the kit due to her aggressive personality. Having someone with a fleshed-out story and background also helped answer some of the team's questions about the design. Her affinity for shotguns is one of the few things to survive, though you'll see some of her kit origins in the way she pushes towards foes, too.

Battlefield 2042's scoreboard update pushed back to March

Update 3.3 for Battlefield 2042 has been delayed slightly, as the developers take some time to work in some additional changes to the multiplayer game. The patch, which will include a planned "refresh" to the in-game scoreboard, was originally scheduled to launch sometime in "mid to late February," but will now arrive in early March.

In the meantime, the developers have rolled out a small hotfix today, February 3, to address some stability issues that have cropped up since update 3.2. Earlier this week, they announced that the first season of Battlefield 2042 has been delayed until the summer, and the beginning of that season will mark the beginning of a full year of seasonal content updates, Dice says.

In January, Dice shared a work-in-progress look at the refreshed scoreboard screen, which will include an at-a-glance view of relevant information like ribbon progression, overall team scores, and individual player performance stats like personal score contribution, kills, assists, and the weight of each stat. The plan is to include the refreshed scoreboard design in update 3.3, which will now arrive sometime in "early March" according to the updated plan.

Epic's next free game is a vibrant RPG with survival elements

It's Thursday, and you know what that means – another round of free PC games from the Epic Games Store. This week, you can grab the platformer Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, and as ever, Epic has revealed next week's freebie, too. Once the time comes, you'll be able to pick up survival RPG Windbound.

You'll be able to grab Windbound from the usual Epic Games Store promotion page on Thursday, February 10 at 8am PST / 11am EST / 4pm GMT. It'll be there for one full week, at which point it'll be replaced by another freebie. As always, you'll 'purchase' the game at a price of zero dollars, and it'll remain in your library just like any game you might pay money for.

Here's the Windbound blurb from the store: "Shipwrecked alone on an uncharted island, explore, adapt and navigate the land and perilous seas to stay alive. As Kara, you are a warrior, caught at sea in a fierce storm, adrift from your tribe. Thrown from your boat, at the mercy of the turbulent waters, you are tossed on to the shores of the Forbidden Islands, a mysterious paradise."

Play Dying Light 2 with ray tracing using Nvidia GeForce Now RTX 3080

Dying Light 2's release date is upon us, and Nvidia just announced that the survival horror RPG is coming to GeForce Now. While the game's ray tracing elements demand a lot from gaming PCs, the streaming service gives RTX 3080 members a chance to enhance Techland's apocalyptic sequel without owning one of the green team's best graphics card.

One of Dying Light 2's key mechanics is its dynamic day-night cycle, which uses ray tracing to hammer home its ever-changing cityscapes. Of course, not everyone has a GPU that's capable of such feats, and Techland's RT system requirements recommend an RTX 3080 for 1080p 60fps gameplay.

It's worth noting that you'll need a reliable internet connection to use GeForce Now, but the cloud service could help fans experience everything Dying Light 2 has to offer. In an Nvidia blog post, Techland's rendering director, Tomasz Szałkowski, says that players can experience the game "exactly as intended with the RTX 3080 membership, even when playing on underpowered devices."

How long is Dying Light 2?

How long is Dying Light 2? We get it, your time is precious. You want to make sure you're not going to be stuck playing a game for longer than you feel comfortable. Given some of the recent discourse around Techland's new parkour zombie game you may also be worried that Dying Light 2 is too long.

At the start of January, developer Techland claimed that Dying Light 2 would take 500 hours to complete. This is five times bigger than when the studio last spoke up on this issue when it claimed the game would take 100 hours to finish back in 2019.

The studio later clarified in a tweet that the 500 hours comment related to the "time needed to max out the game with all main and side quests, choices, and endings, checking every place on the map, every dialogue, and finding every collectible". Assuming you're not bothered about all that, the main story can actually be completed in around 20 hours.

OlliOlli World reviews – our roundup of the critics' scores

OlliOlli World, a new skateboarding game on the way from developer Roll7 and publisher Private Division, drops early next week, and the reviews are now pouring in. Critics across the industry have been getting stuck into its 2D 'boarding and letting us know what they thought - so now it's time to see whether it'll be worth your hard-earned pennies when it arrives.

Well, the answer so far seems to be a resounding 'yes'. The game has already hit a very hearty critics' average of 83 (all platforms) and 85 (PC) on aggregate review sites Opencritic and Metacritic, respectively, based on write-ups so far. There are plenty of glowing reviews in the mix, with a bunch of scores sitting in the mid-to-high eighties and nineties on the scale.

For example, Eurogamer's unscored review gives OlliOlli World the 'essential' stamp, calling it "a thrilling leap forward for a magical skating series". Polygon's (also unscored) take says that "OlliOlli World captures the essence of skateboarding, and then makes it weird", noting it's a "mystical realm for you to grind through". PCGamesN's own review will be up and ready to check out before the game launches next week.

AMD Ryzen Zen 4 CPUs – release date, price, specs, and benchmarks

2022 is shaping up to be an exciting year in the battle between AMD and Intel for the title of best gaming CPU, with both companies releasing new processors towards the end of the year. While Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 chips continue to perform well in gaming PCs and for AMD, everyone is waiting to see how the company's next generation Ryzen 7000 Zen 4 CPUs will compete with Intel's upcoming Raptor Lake processors.

When Zen 4 releases in H2 2022, we will finally see support for PCIe Gen5 and DDR5 gaming RAM on AMD's Ryzen CPUs. This will bring the company's processor offerings in line with Intel, which has supported both technologies since Alder Lake's release in 2021.

However, a combination of 3D V-Cache and a 5nm manufacturing process could see team red's chips outclass those from team blue by a significant margin, making Ryzen Zen 4 CPUs the ideal partner to the best graphics cards such as the Nvidia RTX 4000 GPU lineup.

AMD RDNA 3 GPUs – release date, price, specs, and benchmarks

It's 2022, and AMD plans to paint your gaming PC red with its next-generation AMD RDNA 3 GPUs and Zen 4 CPUs. The new Radeon pixel pushers will likely rank amongst the best graphics cards available, but they'll face stiff competition from the likes of Nvidia's GeForce RTX 4000 and Intel's Arc Alchemist product stacks.

RDNA 3 graphics cards will undoubtedly offer greater performance than the current RDNA 2 based Radeon RX 6000 series, AMD FSR's lack of AI-enhancement could prove to be a weak point in the company's arsenal. Intel XeSS aims to boost fps and deliver image quality akin to Nvidia DLSS across all GPU brands, which could see it push out AMD FSR entirely.

On the bright side, AMD CEO Lisa Su reckons RDNA 3 shouldn't be as affected by the ongoing chip shortage to the same degree graphics cards have been for the past two years.

I have played Vampire Survivors twice - that's two (2) times - in total. In only that short space of time, the arcade-style game has sunk its teeth into me. You swat away hordes of monsters with weapons and magic that fire automatically. All it needs from you is one hand on the wheel. You are, in essence, the pale captain of a battleship that must weave its way through demons and bats. The garlic and holy water cannons will take care of the rest.

Not only do I crave more vampiric survival, but I also wish it had been released years ago. This is the perfect pre-lesson huddle. The perfect after-school treat. A nerdy talk generator for those locker chats.

Much time is spent on some excellent digressions this week, including James McAvoy as a rampaging dinosaur from Jurassic Park (a state of affairs that I think would have improved his weird improv film My Son). Plus, could Matthew Save the world if he grew to six size the times of the earth and cut off a slab of his bum like a big steak, to feed us all? So good it will give you blisters. It's a sentence you might read in a glossy 1990s PlayStation magazine ad. "So good it will give you blisters," it says of the latest polygonal bloodsport, with a wired controller hanging from a ceiling, covered in gore. The hyperbole of a generation, a distortion of edgy marketing either aped or mocked by today's advertising sophisticates. You get blisters from walking up hills, not video games. In the forensically sucky cyberpresent of 2022, there is no place for such exaggeration.

Super Smash Bros Series Sales Pass 69 Million, Ultimate Passes 27 Million

New sales data is in for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, which means new insight into the Super Smash Bros series as a whole. The Nintendo Financial Results Explanatory Material 3rd Quarter of Fiscal Year Ending March 2022 report noted new sales figures for the Switch entry. It is now at 27.4 million copies sold worldwide as of December 2021. This is following 3.3 million in sales between April 2021 and December 2021. As Niko Partners Senior Analyst Daniel "ZhugeEx" Ahmad pointed out, this means the series passed 69 million copies sold.

Here is the graph Ahmad shared. It covers every entry since the original Super Smash Bros' debut on the Nintendo 64 in 1999. Melee followed on the GameCube in 2001. In 2008, Brawl showed up on the Wii. Six years later, Super Smash Bros launched on the 3DS and Wii U in 2014. Ultimate followed in 2018. (As a reminder, Super Smash Bros Ultimate set a sales record for the series at launch when 1.23 million copies sold in its first three days in Japan.)

In 2021, the last of the Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC fighters appeared. The run ended with Kingdom Hearts' Sora joining the roster. However, extra Spirits like Evil Ryu still showed up. In a Famitsu interview, creator Masahiro Sakurai said there were no plans for a sequel yet.

See the Honkai Impact 3rd Palatinus Equinox Durandal Battlesuit

The Honkai Impact 3rd 5.5 update is on the way in February 2022, and it will bring with it the Durandal Palatinus Equinox battlesuit. To help people prepare for the new IMG-type S-rank battlesuit, miHoYo shared a video looking at how the team made it. In particular, it goes over the Guardian and Knight forms of it.

With Palatinus Equinox, players can swap between two roles for Durandal. In her Guardian form, she carries the shield and uses it when fighting. It is said to be better equipped to fight enemies with strong attacks. Specifically, "aggressive" ones were mentioned. When she shifts into Knight, she'll ride atop a horse and use both it and her lance to attack. That form is the more agile of the two. It's designed to deal with faster enemies, or perhaps even more of them.

Here's the latest Honkai Impact 3rd making of video for Durandal. Note that it begins by looking at her backstory and motivations, so there will be spoilers if you aren't caught up with the game. (English subtitles are available if you turn on closed captions.)

In addition to the new look at the 5.5 battlesuit, miHoYo also shared Honkai Impact 3rd music. The Paradox Original Soundtrack is available to stream now.

Honkai Impact 3rd is available on PCs and mobile devices, and its 5.5 update will arrive and bring Palatinus Equinox on February 24, 2022. People can also earn the Spina Astera S-Rank battlesuit after the update.

Incidentally, total sell-through for Animal Crossing: New Horizons has exceeded 10 million units in Japan alone, far surpassing the record 6.81 million units of 1985's Super Mario Bros, and it is the single best-selling video game ever in Japan.

Animal Crossing sales have been high since launch. 2.6 million copies were sold in its first 10 days on the market in Japan. It resulted in the best debut for the series ever in the region. Back in May 2021, Nintendo confirmed over 35.9 million units sold worldwide.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for the Nintendo Switch. So is its Happy Home Paradise expansion.

New Konami Financial Results Confirm More NFTs on the Way

It seems Konami will continue selling NFTs. The company released its Consolidated Financial Results for the Nine Months Ended December 31, 2021. In it, it brought up its outlook for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2022. When it did, it made sure to bring up NFTs when discussing its plans for digital entertainment going forward. [Thanks, Nibel!]

The exact statement on NFTs was brief, and Konami only brought it up in that one portion of the report. It noted, "We will also be selling Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) in an effort to preserve content that has been loved by our customers as commemorative art."

So far, Konami has only sold Castlevania NFTs. Its auction took place back in January 2022. It earned over $162,000 from it. The items included images and songs from the series. In some cases, there would be animated clips of certain actions that appear in-game. The official website is live and links to possible auctions.

As for other content, Konami mentioned its intent to make Yu-Gi-Oh a priority. It mentioned Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, em>Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links. It also said that it will be working on Dance aRound, ColorCoLotta: Frozen Island, GrandCross Gold, and QuizKnock Stadium for arcades.

Kawaki Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker DLC Dated

Way back in June 2021, Bandai Namco teased Kawaki DLC for Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker. Now it's about to appear. On February 4, 2022, people will be able to pick up the major Boruto: Naruto Next Generation character. He's a part of the $14.99 Season Pass 4. However, people could also buy him alone for $3.99.

There's a video accompanying the announcement. It shows off all of Kawaki's major moves. He's an attack-type character. His Secret Technique: Karma Linchpin (Ritual Destruction) draws on his heritage for an AOE attack. (Note it is a spoiler, if someone isn't following the show.) But then, so is Ninjutsu: Karma Linchpin (Strange Taste). That attack is able to keep another player's Ninjutsu from working.

The video ends by reminding people of already available elements. For example, it brings up Super Uzumaki Rasengan is available as a bonus Secret Technique if you buy the Season Pass 4. It also showed off the Lite version game trial. It didn't note if there will be a Season Pass 5 that adds more Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker DLC characters.

Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker is available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and the Kawaki DLC will appear on February 4, 2022. The other DLC characters in Season Pass 4 include Sakura Haruno (Great Ninja War), Nagato (Reanimation), Itachi Uchiha (Reanimation), and Sasuke (Last Battle).

Laid Back Camp Mobile

Despite its title, Laid-Back Camp (a.k.a. Yuru Camp) is quite an active brand. The original manga by author Afro has spawned two anime seasons, an upcoming film, a live-action series adaptation, and two different video games. Make that three different video games: A new Laid-Back Camp mobile game was announced via a tweet from the official account.

https://twitter.com/yurucamp_game/status/1489162537220202499?s=20&t=8Ea4y0r5uaEpjcwkLXR8gw

The tweet doesn't reveal the game's official title, but does trumpet the fact that it's the "first" mobile game for Laid-Back Camp. Technically, the Laid-Back Camp - Virtual titles are available on mobile platforms, but they're closer to "experiences" than fully-fledged games. The tweet also had a trailer of sorts featuring a chibi-style rendition of camper Rin Shima laying back beside a crackling fire.

The official game website was similarly sparse on detail. It merely features the same trailer and links to Laid-Back Camp portal site, and the website for the upcoming animated film adaptation. The Laid-Back Camp mobile game itself appears to be developed by Enish, which developed mobile games based on the anime series The Quintessential Quintuplets, Rent-A-Girlfriend, and an original RPG title called De:Lithe.

For the uninitiated, Laid-Back Camp follows the outdoor adventures of a group of young women. It begins when Rin Shima, a "solo-camping" hobbyist, encounters Nadeshiko Kagamihara. The two become friends and Rin introduces Nadeshiko to the joys of camping outdoors. They also interact with their school's outdoor club (the "Outclub") and teachers. The series features locations from around Japan, particularly Yamanashi prefecture, near Mount Fuji. The Virtual titles focus on two real-life locations seen in the show: Lake Motosu and the Fumoto Campgrounds.

The new Laid-Back Camp mobile game is targeted for a 2022 release on iOS and Android. The Virtual titles are available on mobile, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. The Mages-developed adventure game Laid-Back Camp: Have a Nice Day! is available on PS4 and Switch in Japan. The anime series streams on Crunchyroll, and the manga is published in English by Yen Press.

Mobile Suit Gundam Arsenal Base season 1 launch in arcades

Bandai announced the release dates for its upcoming arcade game, Mobile Suit Gundam: Arsenal Base. It will officially appear in arcades on February 24, 2022. However, the company also announced that several arcade centers in Japan will have the game with base functionalities one week earlier on February 17, 2022.

The company will also sell two Arsenal Base starter decks based on Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Iron-Blooded Orphans. Each deck will contain cards for five pilots and their Mobile Suits. The decks will allow players to immediately field a full team in Mobile Suit Gundam: Arsenal Base. Those in Japan will be able to purchase a single deck from hobby stores for ¥500 (around $4), or they can pre-order a full package containing both decks at ¥1,100 (around $10) from Premium Bandai and Amazon Japan.

[gallery columns="2" ids="914928,914929" link="file"]

Bandai initially revealed Arsenal Base in January 2021, with plans to release it within the same year. The new arcade game will become a successor to Gundam Try Age, which shut down in May 2021. However, the coronavirus pandemic affected the company's plans to release it in a timely fashion. It didn't hold location tests for Arsenal Base until December 2021 and January 2022.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Arsenal Base will officially launch in Japanese arcades on February 24, 2022. Select arcade centers in Japan will have the game one week earlier.

Interview Series Producer Discusses Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires Changes

The world of Dynasty Warriors is constantly growing. Each installment builds on the series' history, while also offering new takes on actual historical events. The next entry up is Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, and Siliconera spoke with Series Producer Akihiro Suzuki about its development and changes.

Jenni Lada: When preparing Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, what did you most want to build on and change from the eighth installment?

Akihiro Suzuki: It was the castle siege battle system which we have updated from previous Empires games.

In Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, children inheritance lets you determine their gender and weapon, but the affinities and stats don't change. How did you determine what would and wouldn't be able to be altered by the player?

Suzuki: We decided that the individual characteristics for the children, such as affinity and abilities, could not be changed in part because it is a collection and replayability feature. Also, in the previous game not being able to change the appearance or gender was unpopular, so for this game they can be altered.

Interview: Series Producer Discusses Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires Changes 2

Ranks determine possible actions in Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires. What led to this decision and how do you feel it improves the game compared to past installments?

Suzuki: In order to increase the player's immersion into the game, we took the approach of being able to feel their growth in-game by increasing what they can do based on their position, similar to the real world. In this game, executing the same political command as another allied officer will make it more effective, so players can feel the atmosphere of working together with other officers and contributing to their kingdom.

Castle sieges were added due to the map sizes and desire for improved battle pacing. What kind of work went into implementing them into the game?

Suzuki: We've revamped the traditional battles where players push forward the frontlines while connecting provisions between bases and capture the enemy's main camp, and aimed to create more realistic castle sieges. We faced a lot of challenges in constructing a game system since we needed to figure out how to
get players to make tactical decisions when they have the freedom to move around the game. By implementing strategies such as secret plans and siege weapon bases, it gradually began to take shape.

With regards to sieges, are there any gameplay elements or changes you wanted to implement, but couldn't fit in to Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires?

Suzuki: There were many gameplay elements that came up during the planning stage that were rejected, but there weren't any elements that we planned to incorporate that we weren't able to implement.

Interview- Series Producer Discusses Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires Changes

One of the add-ons allows people to lead a unit filled with animals as warriors, rather than people. What led to this DLC's creation?

Suzuki: In the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel, there are kingdoms that use beasts during battle, so we came up with the idea to incorporate these into the DLC for something fun and different.

What kind of support will Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires get after launch, considering the support the original Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires received? Will people see updates to its open world to add things like requests?

Suzuki: We don't have any definite plans at the moment.

With Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, new games automatically carry over things already earned like weapons. What led to this decision? How did you determine what carries over?

Suzuki: Since the Empires series is one that is played several times through using different officers and being able to collect in-game events, we decided to incorporate the carry over feature to further enjoy the repeated playthroughs. In terms of content, it includes gems, gem artifacts and secret plans and other
things that can be changed as needed, but excludes "titles," which automatically change according to the player's playstyle.

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires will come to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on February 15, 2022. It is available in Japan. A demo is available.

RTX 30 Series PSUIt looks like Nvidia's GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards will work just fine with next-generation PCIe 5.0 PSUs. This news comes from tech site HardwareLuxx, which spotted that the ASUS Thor II 1000W Platinum PSU is compatible with RTX 30 Series Founders Edition cards. Nvidia announced its 12-pin PCIe 5.0 power connector a couple of years ago alongside the announcement of the RTX 30 Series. The idea behind this shift to the new PCIe 5.0 12-pin connector standard is to allow PSUs to deliver more power to future graphics cards with higher maximum power consumption. This trend can already be observed in current generation high-end graphics cards, particularly Nvidia's. For example, the RTX 3080 requires 320W, while the TDP for the upcoming RTX 3090 Ti will be 450W. These examples, coupled with this connector update, indicates that we should expect this trend to continue.   Nvidia's 12-pin design power connector is designed to supply a maximum of 600W directly ...
