Hermit And Pig is indeed a game about a reclusive old hermit and his truffle-hunting pig, but this charming adventure RPG also has one of the most involving turn-based battle systems I've come across in a while. Taking place in first person a la Dragon Quest, Hermit must deal with all sorts of mad and angry wildlife as he hunts for his favourite forest mushrooms, and their scowling (and endearingly daft) expressions are just the tip of this excellent iceberg. For you're not just choosing from a list of moves and watching them play out onscreen. Oh no. Each attack also comes with its own three-button fighting combo, and you'll need to input the right one (often at the right time) to deal the most damage. It's a brilliant system, making Hermit And Pig easily one of this year's highlights from EGX's Leftfield Collection. |

A blend of RPG and visual novel from Polish developer Moral Anxiety, it cast you as lonesome wayfarer maintaining the paths and investigating the mysteries or grievances of a thinly populated wilderness setting. It's a game of immense feeling, craft and cleverness, inspired by table-top games, which puts hoarier ideas about videogame role-playing through the wringer. In the world of Roadwarden, there's no grinding for XP or mindless loot-crafting treadmill. Knowledge, empathy and insight are worth far more than material wealth or wielding the shiniest axe. Quests can hinge on something as minute as your ear for dialects or knowing the correct form of address. And each village along the trail is a world in itself. Moral Anxiety's Windy Meadow - which actually dates back to before development of Roadwarden, but has been substantially remastered since the latter's release - essentially narrows the focus to one of those villages. Out today, it's a quietly gorgeous visual novel in which you follow several characters in different timeframes, building up a layered understanding of one and the same setting, with scene transitions plotted on a beautiful pixelart map screen. |

As explained by Minecraft game director Agnes Larsson, the forthcoming Minecraft update – which has yet to be given a release date – is designed to "focus more on combat adventures and on tinkering" than last year's Cave & Cliffs update. The headline addition is an underground structure called the Trial Chamber, a procedurally generated cluster of traps and treasure rooms, fashioned from copper and tuff blocks and arranged around a central hallway. From the Minecraft Live footage this weekend, Trial Chambers look like an evolution of the game's old buried fortresses, with some nifty new flourishes in the shape of copper bulb blocks that slowly give off less and less light, and new Trial Spawners, which generate a certain number of hostile mobs based on things like the number of players in your party. |

Bandai Namco started selling the Pikmin bath bomb from Nintendo stores. It is currently available in Nintendo Tokyo and Nintendo Osaka stores. Nintendo Kyoto will have it in stock from October 17, 2023. Each bath bomb costs 550 JPY, which is approximately $3.70.
Back in June 2023, Bandai Namco displayed the Pikmin bath bomb at Tokyo Toy Show 2023. The full name of the product is "Bikkura? Tamago Pikmin," with loosely translates to "Surprise? Egg Pikmin." Bikkura Tamago products from Lifestyle Bandai are bath bombs that hide a little toy inside, which you can take after the outside layer of epsom salts wash away in the water. There are a variety of toys that you can collect, since it's completely random which one you get.
As we saw previously during Tokyo Toy Show 2023, the Pikmin bath bomb contains five different Pikmins that you can potentially obtain. You can get a Blue Pikmin, a Yellow PIkmin, a Red Pikmin, a Purple Pikmin, or a White Pikmin. The bath bomb itself has a fruity scent. This matches the design of the outside layer, which looks like a round lemon.
The Pikmin bath bombs are available from Nintendo and Bandai stores in Japan. The latest entry in the Pikmin series, Pikmin 4, is available on the Nintendo Switch.

The latest Genshin Impact playable character is almost here and HoYoVerse's new Wriothesley trailer shows him off in full force. Ahead of his release on October 17, 2023, this new two and a half-minute trailer features some cinematic gameplay showing off how the Cryo catalyst user will play ahead of the upcoming banner release.
Players also get a look at some of the lore surrounding Wriothesley in the highly stylized trailer featuring him taking on various fighters in the Fortress of Meropide in the Fontaine region. The character demo trailer plays out like a short montage of cutscenes of Wriothesley using his mechanical fists to bash away at the foes he takes on. Like Heizou, he is a catalyst user who uses hand-to-hand combat, rather than magic.
The cinematic trailer features several enemies, from mechanical dogs to guards from the prison. It culminates in a battle against the enemy Group Justice, during which Wriothesley potentially teases some of the skill animations he will have in the upcoming game. He has fast movements and up-close animations. Players will seemingly want to stay in the mix and constantly apply pressure to foes while using him.
Genshin Impact is available for Android, iOS, PS4, PS5, and PC. The Wriothesley banner will drop on October 17, 2023.

On October 17, 2023, the Pokemon GO Party Play feature will appear in-game. It isn't exactly a new multiplayer element. Rather, it lets people work as a group of four to complete challenges, get extra power in Raids, and keep in touch with other players. However, it is a local-only activity, so you need to apparently be near the other folks as you all play.
How to start Pokemon GO Party Play
Niantic also introduced how we can form a party with this new feature. You'll need to go to your profile and click Party. On that page, you can either join a party by entering a code or scanning a QR or making your own. This can only happen if you hit level 15 trainer level, however. If you do meet that requirement, you can have up to three people join you for your new group. You'll then be able to check the Party tab for more insights into what others are doing or challenges.
Here's the official Pokemon GO Party Play trailer. It shows off some of the features and how the new feature works. When you are in a group, you can complete Party Challenges together. Some of the ones listed in the example are "win two raids," "catch two Pokemon," and "catch two ice-type Pokemon." It also shows how Raid Party Power looks, as well as how you can compare stats and highlights in the new party and post-party highlights sections.
Pokemon GO is available for mobile devices, and Party Play will be available starting on October 17, 2023. One of the last in-game events tied in with Detective Pikachu Returns to bring Detective Pikachu back.

The Pokemon live drama show PokeTsume will soon air on Japanese television, and its new trailer has appeared ahead of the premiere. The drama show will be officially titled Pocket ni Bouken o Tsumekonde in Japanese. The full title can also be translated to "Cram an Adventure Inside the Pocket." The trailer shows more details to the upcoming drama show, following its initial reveal in late August 2023. There's no word on its availability outside Japan yet.
Nanase Nishino, a former Nogizaka46 member who is also an avid Pokemon fan, will star in this drama as Madoka Akagi. She newly works at the advertising agency ADventure. Madoka will rediscover her Pokemon passion after her mother sends her a Game Boy Pocket with a Pokemon Red cartridge that she last played 20 years ago.
The 100-second PokeTsume trailer also shows that many members of ADventure will be comparable to some of the first-generation Pokemon. For example, the company's chief is very forgetful like a Slowbro, and one of Madoka's colleagues is as useless as a Magikarp. Aya Hirano will also appear in this drama show as Yoko Meguro, a woman who is tenacious in both work and romance like a Ninetales.
The trailer is available to watch on Poké Times, the official X account for Pokemon-related news in Japan.
Pocket ni Bouken o Tsumekonde, also known as PokeTsume, will start airing in Japan on October 19, 2023, at 24:30 JST / 11:30am ET. It is worth noting that Japanese television channels typically use a 30-hour format where the date is only updated at 6am. Therefore in regular time, the drama show will begin on October 20, 2023, at 12:30am JST.

Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2023 in London will be held October 21-22, 2023, and Square Enix will be debuting the Final Fantasy XIV Glowstick at the event. This will be the first time the glowstick is officially available for purchase in Europe. The Final Fantasy XIV glowstick cycles through 15 unique colors inspired by in-game emotes. The batteries are included and pre-installed so they can be used immediately after purchase at all of the different panels and concerts at the event. They will cost £9.99 (~$12 USD). Back in August 2023, Bandai Namco opened pre-orders for its next Gundam mobile game. However, no release date appeared. Now, there is a definite launch window. On October 17, 2023, people will be able to start playing Mobile Suit Gundam: UC Engage in English and worldwide. In addition, Bandai Namco confirmed that over 200,000 people pre-ordered, meaning some in-game currency and a free unit will be given out.
Essentially, there will be 9,500 Diamonds, the in-game currency for things like the gacha, and a UR Gundam given out to all players. 4,500 of those diamonds and the Gundam are part of the pre-registration bonuses. However, there is also going to be a Release Celebration Campaign. 5,000 Diamonds will be given out as part of that. The announcement image for that launch event also featured an SR Gundam icon, suggesting another free unit will be given to players who opt in at the outset.
While this is the first time the Mobile Suit Gundam: UC Engage mobile game will be available in English and worldwide, it's already quite established in Japan. The game launched back in November 2021 in the region. As part of the latest announcement, Bandai Namco noted that version has been downloaded over three million times.
Mobile Suit Gundam: UC Engage will launch worldwide on October 17, 2023 on mobile devices. The game is already available in Japan. Various Gundam anime series, like The Witch from Mercury, are streaming on Crunchyroll.

The new Kazuma Kiryu voice actor Yong Yea revealed the Like a Dragon Gaiden English dub for the Yakuza spin-off won't appear until after the game's launch. The performer noted it will be a post-launch addition. He also shared a screen capture of the official site that noted people will eventually be able to download a patch that adds the additional audio option.
Here's Yea's statement. In a follow-up tweet, he acknowledged the release date is November 9, 2023. As a note, the Steam product page for the game only shows full audio for Japanese at the moment.
Yea also pointed out that this Like a Dragon Gaiden English dub situation might not be the case for the other upcoming Yakuza title on his account. He noted that Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth's Steam product listing already does note full audio in English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese.
It's uncertain how extensive the English dub for the spin-off will be. While we know major characters, like Kiryu, will be voiced, it is uncertain if we'll get to hear someone like the Obatarian in English for the first time.
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will come out on November 9, 2023, and people will be able to play the new Yakuza game on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.

Nintendo published a trailer for its Nintendo Kyoto store one day ahead of the grand opening on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. The new physical store will be available on the 7th floor of Kyoto Takashimaya Shopping Center's T8 Zone.
The 20-second trailer shows a sneak peek of what visitors can expect to see when they enter the store. It will feature merchandise like T-shirts and plushes from Super Mario, Splatoon, Pikmin, and other Nintendo franchises. Visitors will also be able to purchase Nintendo Switch consoles, games, and accessories in the store.
The trailer is available to watch on the official X account for Nintendo's Japanese physical stores right below.
October 17, 2023 will also be the opening date for the host building, Kyoto Takashimaya Shopping Center. The T8 Zone will host a total of 51 outlets that cover a variety of categories from modern art, subculture, to local cuisine.
The Kyoto store will be Nintendo's third physical store to open in Japan. The company opened its first permanent store in Shibuya, Tokyo in 2019. It then opened the second Japanese store at Daimaru Umeda in Osaka in November 2022. Outside of Japan, Nintendo also has a permanent store in New York City.
The grand opening for the Nintendo Kyoto store and its host building, Kyoto Takashimaya Shopping Center, will take place on October 17, 2023. Afterwards, the store will regularly open from 10 AM to 8 PM JST.

There is a new kind of Attuned character type in Fire Emblem Heroes, and that also means a new sort of inheritance. These new units have an X skill slot with an additional ability. Like a Rearmed Hero, you can inherit once without losing that person, thus allowing a character who doesn't have an X skill to get one. The first two units of this type in Fire Emblem Heroes are Peony and Triandra, the Ljósálfar and Dökkálfr.
Peony is an axe-wielding, flying unit. Her weapon is the axe Flower of Caring. She's also still a dancer-class unit, with a Tender Dream ability that lets an ally act again. Her X skill is Attack Oath Echo, which boosts her attack by six and lets her move to a space adjacent to an ally if she is within two spaces of an ally. Meanwhile, Triandra is a sword-bearing, flying unit. She holds the Flower of Tribute. Her X skill is Death Blow Echo, which boosts her attack by four if she initiates combat.
As mentioned earlier, the first banner to add them will include two other characters. Rearmed Sonya is an infantry unit who holds a green Arc Caliburnus tome. Mycen is a cavalry unit with a blue lance.

Spike Chunsoft and Kei Mochizuki teamed up for a new Super Danganronpa 2 1/7 scale figure release of Nagito Komaeda. The character is portrayed in Mochizuki's signature art style. Pre-orders are being taken until November 13, 2023. It is expected to be released in late May 2024 and will cost 23,100 yen ($154.56). It is currently available on the Algernon Product online shop. You can also find it on AmiAmi, which ships internationally. To prepare for the production of the figure, Kei Mochizuki provided an entirely new illustration of Nagito Komaeda to use as a base for the design. The figure was supervised by him and Spike Chunsoft, the developer of the Danganronpa titles. A replica of Pod 042 from the NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime will act as a weapon shop manager in Japan. The collaboration will happen at Takumi Armory's pop-up store in Laforet Harajuku on October 21-22, 2023. The Japanese press release provided more details on how the studio made the replica of 2B and A2's companion pod. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
Takumi Armory created a 1/1 replica of Pod 042 after NieR: Automata Ver1.1a's director Ryouji Masuyama requested to see a life-sized model as a reference. The studio created the replica from scratch at its own workshop in Takasago City in Japan's Hyogo prefecture. This replica cannot float in the air, so staff members will put it on a tripod during the showcase.
Other than Pod 042, Takumi Armory will display life-sized weapon replicas of the Virtuous Contract and Virtuous Treaty. It will also place seven posters of the NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime around the shop.
Although there will be no NieR: Automata-related goods available for sale, people who make any purchase at the shop will be allowed to take a photo with Pod 042 and the NieR: Automata weapon replicas. However, they will still not be allowed to directly touch the items.
There have also been other merchandise modeled after NieR: Automata's Pods. In late September 2023, Movic opened pre-orders for new plush keychains based on both Pod 042 and Pod 153.
The NieR: Automata Ver1.1a anime will serve as the primary source for this collaboration. Aniplex announced in July 2023 that the anime's second cour is in the works. The title originated as a video game that is immediately available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Square Enix announced the release of room sprays based on characters from Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, which means Aqua, Terra, and Ventus will inspire their own room fragrances. Each spray costs 5,940 yen (or about $40,) and their expected release date is February 3, 2024. They are available for pre-order from the Japanese Square Enix online e-store.
Terra's room spray will be inspired by clove, cinnamon, rose, amber, and woodsy aromas. Meanwhile, Aqua's room spray will include citrusy fragrances, mainly bergamot, as well as water lily, and musk. Ventus' spray will also be focused on citrus, with aquatic notes and a floral bouquet, and a focus on the smell of patchouli.

Atlus released the third main trailer for Persona 5 Tactica. The new 4-minute-long trailer showcased lots of new gameplay, as well as reveal a new school location, new robot and Buddha-inspired villains, as well as foreshadow some events that might unfold in later parts of the game. In addition, the trailer teased the Repaint Your Heart DLC and showed Akechi and Kasumi.
Editor's Note: The following insight might include spoilers for the plot of Persona 5 Tactica, Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal.
The trailer starts with Erina sinking into water and thinking about Toshiro. The trailer continues to highlight both characters, hinting to a possible past connection between both of them. In addition, later parts of the trailer show The Phantom Thieves facing Toshiro, who is teased to awaken his own Persona.
The Velvet Room attendant Lavenza was also confirmed to appear. A new school location was also shown, and the gameplay segments revealed new environments for The Phantom Thieves to fight on.

Capcom announced a new Street Fighter 6 merchandise lottery featuring various livers from the Nijisanji VTuber group. The new merchandise features the VTubers cosplaying as characters from the game. Kuzuha will appear as Luke, Yashiro Kizuku as Ryu, Azuchi Momo as Chun-Li, Ibrahim as Ken, Sasaki Saku as E. Honda, and Kanda Shoichi as JP. Each entry in the lottery costs 880 yen (or about $6). The merchandise is scheduled to release in early March 2024. There are 6 categories of prizes, ranging from S to E. The prizes in the S category are 6 life-size tapestries, and the A category includes 6 square cushions, both with one for each VTuber in the collaboration.
Meanwhile, the B category offers 3 different tote bags, the C prizes are 6 diorama acrylic stands with Metro City from SF6 as the background, the D category includes 6 rubber straps, and the E category offers 6 pin badges.
