There was, of course, the Future Of Play booth that our Graham organised for the show (the contents of which you can see right here), but every year the Leftfield Collection houses a couple more custom controller games that are just as illustrative of all the amazing things going on in the world of interactive entertainment these days. Case in point, there were two games from this year's cohort that impressed me in equal measure over the weekend - and it was perhaps fitting that they were located directly opposite one another in the Leftfield Collection's long, white corridor. One was a mind-bogglingly complex, almost military-grade-looking briefcase stuffed full of switches, nozzles and buttons, and the other was an impossibly cute cardboard flip book and projector combo that let its cartoon hero Bib bound across the 3D paper environments to find a way home. A Watch Face based on Elizabeth and Sadaharu from Gintama is available for Huawei smartwatches. With the Gintama-themed accessory, you can see Elizabeth or Sadaharu every time your watch lights up, along with the time, temperature, and battery. The Gintama Watch Face also keeps track of the steps you have taken and shows how many calories you have burned! [Thanks, Comic Natalie!]
With the Elizabeth Watch Face, the character displays your steps and burned calories on placards. This is a reference to how Elizabeth communicates with other characters in Gintama. As for the Sadaharu one, the data appears on his paws, making the Watch Face ideal for people who are similar to Katsura (those who are obsessed with animals' paws). Incidentally, the Elizabeth Watch Face will change expressions when you tap it, with five variations. Sadaharu, as a dog, cannot move his facial muscles and thus only has one expression.
Gintama is a science fiction comedy manga series that ran from 2003 to 2019. It is one of the best-selling manga series, and the anime has been very popular as well. 2023 marks the 20th anniversary of the series, and there will be several events coming up to commemorate this. A theatrical adaptation of the Baragaki arc will air in Japanese theaters on November 10, 2023, and an anime series based on the 3-Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi-sensei spin-off is in development. Finally, there will be a concert, Gintama Sound Ultra Soul '24, on February 11, 2024.

Takara Tomy has announced the 40th Anniversary Zoids Core Box project. There is no information on the expected price or release window. However, for reference, the 20th anniversary Zoids Core Box contained items like a re-run kit and the complete set of Battle Story. The name is also currently a tentative one. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]
More information on what you can expect from this Zoids Core Box will come out in the near future. You can follow the official Zoids account via Twitter for the latest news. The 20th Anniversary Core Box came out in October 2003 and cost 15000 JPY at the time. Converting 15000 JPY now is around $100.30. But considering inflation and a different currency exchange rate, there's a chance that the 40th Anniversary Zoids Core Box will have a different price.

Tomy first created the Zoids franchise in 1983. Zoids are giant mechanical animals and mythological creatures that can contain a pilot. They started out as model kits. However, there are several video games, manga, and anime series that spawned from the toy line. The most recent show is Zoids Wild, which originally ran from 2018 to 2019.
More information on the 40th Anniversary Zoids Core Box project will come out in the near future. Those in Japan can also check out the 40th Anniversary Great Zoids Exhibition, which will be available in Tokyo Dome City until October 22, 2023.

A dessert buffet based on Spy x Family will be available in the Hilton Tokyo Odaiba from October 31 to December 13, 2023. The Spy x Family Cruise Buffet will feature sweets based on food items featured in the show, as well as desserts that draw on motifs from the characters. Attendees must make a reservation at the restaurant, and then it'll be on a first-come, first-served basis. [Thanks, Comic Natalie!]
Aside from sweets that were made with the characters in mind, there is also a cake in the shape of Eden Academy's hat, as well as macarons that look like the Stella Stars and Tonitrus Bolts. There are also non-alcoholic beverages that you can order, which are character-themed. For example, Yor's mocktail has rose, grenadine, cranberry juice, and tonic water. Its red color is to indicate her true identity as an assassin. When you order a drink, you also get a random coaster. Each mocktail costs 1500 JPY.

The second season of Spy x Family started airing on October 7, 2023. The show follows the fake Forger family, which Loid Forger put together in order to complete his spy mission. The protagonist doesn't know that his "wife" is an assassin, nor does she know about her fake husband's career in espionage. However, their adopted daughter, Anya, is aware of both of their identities due to her psychic powers.
Spy x Family is available for streaming via services such as Crunchyroll. Viz has licensed the manga for an English audience. The Spy x Family buffet in Hilton Tokyo Odaiba will run from October 31 to December 13, 2023.

Re-Ment will release its second line of Pokemon Aqua Bottle merchandise, which cost 1320 JPY (around $8.85) each. In total, there are six variations that you can get. All of the items feature water Pokemon that are swimming inside glass containers of various shapes and sizes. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

The first line of Aqua Bottle Collection Pokemon figures came out in 2022. Pokemon featured in that line included Corsola, Milotic, Pikachu, Vaporeon, and Chinchou. This version also had more traditional bottles than the second collection.
Since they are being sold via Amazon, international customers should be able to purchase them as well. If you're in Japan, you can also pick them up in retail locations such as toy stores, character goods shops, and dollar stores. It should be noted that these are blind boxes, which means that unless you buy a full box, you cannot guarantee that you'll get what you want when you buy a Pokemon Aqua Bottle.
Re-Ment has released several other blind box type merchandise in the past, such as a collection of Vocaloid's standing in front of a PC screen. The Vocaloid figures will come out on December 4, 2023.
The second Aqua Bottle Collection line of Pokemon figures from Re-Ment is now available in stores in Japan.

A new manga series based off the Aogiri High School VTuber group will start from November 15, 2023. It will run in Kadokawa's Comic Alunna. The title of the manga series can loosely translate to "VR! What Happens in a Certain VTuber Agency." 7zu7, a manga artist who also likes VTubers, will be the writer and artist. [Thanks, PR Times!]
The concept of the manga follows the daily lives of VTubers, as well as what goes on behind the scenes. Unlike multimedia works featuring Hololive, it looks like Aogiri High School VTuber will focus more on the reality of the VTubers themselves rather than an in-character story based on their lore. It's based on Aogiri High School's "Aru Aru" series, which is available via YouTube as Shorts.
The "Aru Aru" series posts relatable content based on VTubing. For example, there is one that shows what VTubers go through when they have to stream while on their period. There is another one showing the different reactions to sponsored content depending on how much money they get. Each chapter will be based on one of these episodes, so you can also look for the source video after reading each new update.
"VR! What Happens in a Certain VTuber Agency" will start serialization in Comic Alunna from November 15, 2023.

Omni Man appeared in his first gameplay Mortal Kombat 1 trailer. The short one-minute clip shows off two brief fights with Liu Kang and Scorpion. In the process, players get the chance to see how Omni Man will play in the upcoming title. Many of the crossover superhero's moves and animations seem to draw directly from his source series Invincible.
The Mortal Kombat 1 Omni Man DLC character has a swift and highly aggressive melee style. He punches at foes and throws them around like rag dolls. A couple of his gruesome cinematic finishes appear in the trailer as well, all of which seem to take inspiration from some iconic scenes from the ongoing Invincible animated adaptation.
One of the finishes shows him take his opponent to the subway and mash their face against an oncoming train. Another shows him squeeze their head until their eyes pop, similar to a certain character's fate in the series. Omni Man appears in the gameplay trailer with his typical white and red superhero costume with the "O" in the middle.
Players will be able to get Omni Man as the first DLC character in Mortal Kombat 1 in November 2023. Omni Man will be available as part of the Kombat Pack 1 alongside Homelander later down the road. In addition, if players have Premium Edition of the game, they'll earn early access to Omni Man when he releases.
Mortal Kombat 1 is available for the PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Omni Man will release in November 2023.

A new trailer is out for Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections, featuring iconic songs from the Naruto and Naruto Shippuden series. The "Memorable Anime Songs & Items" pack will let you change the in-game music, as well as change the item that appears when you use the Body Replacement Technique. As well, you get two items that you can choose for the Body Replacement Technique. With the pack, you can have a pair of headsets or a microphone pop up instead of a log. Other goodies include a set of costumes for Naruto and Sasuke (this is a pre-order bonus for digital copies and an early purchase bonus for physical ones).
The deluxe edition of the game will come with two special costumes (one for Naruto and one for Kakashi), as well as access to the season pass (which will come with five DLC packs). More information on the DLC will appear later. Finally, the Sound Ultimate Edition includes what's in the deluxe edition, the "Memorable Anime Songs & Items" pack items, five new costumes, and two accessories.
Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections will come out for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC on November 17, 2023.

Square Enix is once again hosting the Final Fantasy XI Harvest Festival Halloween event in 2023. The event will kick off on Monday, October 23, 2023, and it will run for a limited time until November, 6, 2023. During this time, players will have numerous Halloween-themed events to partake in, including handing out sweets.
There are several costumed NPCs players will find in a variety of places during the FFXI Harvest Festival Halloween event, including:
If players hand out treats to the participating NPCs, they'll be able to wear costumes, too. This also goes for the random citizens in the world dressed up as Cyhiraeths. Furthermore, there is also a Pink Masquerade costume competition running during this time as well. This event lets players get judged for their current costume and receive prizes accordingly, including the Botulus Suit.
For players looking for a more interactive experience, they can help the Moogles out in driving off their infiltrators. If that isn't enough, there are also three aspiring exorcists that players will be able to find and complete requests for to earn even more rewards.
