You could be forgiven for thinking it's Black Friday today, given the huge number of deals that are available right now. In reality there’s still a whole week to go – but Amazon clearly doesn’t care about that, and has launched its Black Friday sale in both the US and UK.

Apple has also announced that it’s treating us to something nice, namely support for the RCS messaging standard. That might not seem like a big deal, but it is – because it will overhaul iPhone-to-Android messaging, making it possible to use features like high-resolution photo and video sharing, read receipts, and location sharing even if you’re not on the same platform as your friends. Unfortunately, we won’t get this update in time for Black Friday – we’ll have to wait until 2024 – but it’s good news all the same.
