Call of Duty Warzone's Caldera map returns, but not how you'd expect

The original Call of Duty Warzone holds a very dear place in a lot of FPS fans' hearts. While its current iteration still attracts millions of players, many believe it's an inferior experience. Unless old content gets remade and re-released in the new Warzone (as we've seen with Rebirth Island, for example), the first game is now totally unplayable. However, out of nowhere, Activision just unvaulted the original's final, large-scale map Caldera - but not in the way anyone would've predicted.

Free to play RTS Stormgate out now for backers and beta testers

Out of all the genres to fade away thanks to the cruel grinding of the wheel of time, the RTS was the most unlikely. During the late '90s and early 2000s, the RTS genre was ascendant with games like Command & Conquer, Homeworld, Warcraft 3, and StarCraft taking PC gaming to the big time. Then it all sort of went away, with games like StarCraft 2 failing to reignite a new interest in the genre. Finally that might be all about to change as new RTS Stormgate has just launched as an early access preview version, and its developer has a long track record of working on some big strategy names.

Mario and Sonic competing at the Tokyo Olympics - the last entry in the series, for now

While the 2024 Paris Olympics are still ongoing, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mario and their friends will not be participating. The Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games series no longer continue, as the International Olympic Committee (or IOC) has elected to pursue other partnerships. (Thanks, Eurogamer!)

This is the first time in almost twenty years that a Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games title will not be released to coincide with the Olympic Games. Instead, the IOC has elected to partner with Esports and NFTs.

The license for the Mario & Sonic games expired in 2020, with the IOC electing not to renew it. According to the Eurogamer interview with Lee Cocker, who worked on most of the Mario & Sonic entries, the decision was made to bring the interactive tie-ins more in control by the IOC.

The official tie-in game this year is a smartphone and PC exclusive called Olympics Go! Paris 2024, developed by nWay. The free to play title features 12 Olympic Sports and advertise NFTs for the Paris Olympics.

The last Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games title released in 2019 to coincide with the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The first entry in the series appeared in 2007.

yu yu hakusho one piece dragon ball anime with over 100 episodes

Anime traditionally debut with 12-13 episodes in a season. There are a plethora of anime that exceed that amount by hundreds of episodes. However, not all of them are worth the time required to watch them. Below are the best long-running anime series to watch that are over 100 episodes.

With 720 episodes, including Naruto(220) and Naruto Shippuden(500), the story of Naruto follows a mischievous young ninja on his quest to become the village leader, the Hokage. Naruto is shunned by his peers and other villagers as he hosts the Nine-Tailed Fox within his body. This demon is responsible for the death of the Fourth Hokage and many surviving villagers' loved ones. As the Hokage is someone everyone respects, Naruto believes that people will stop despising him if he becomes this beacon for the village. Naruto's growth as a person is shown throughout the series through death, denial, and war. Every episode is not canon, however, with nearly half of each series being filler. In spite of the overwhelming amount of filler, Naruto is worth the watch.

Bleach

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

In contrast to many other long-running anime, the story of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure doesn't follow one protagonist. Hirohiko Araki, the manga artist for Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, introduces a new member of the Joestar family as the main protagonist for each new arc. As of 2024, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is 190 episodes long, spanning across six unique arcs in the story. The anime has been running since Araki's manga 25th anniversary on October 12, 2012. While every Joestar has their own story, most of them involve the vile man, Dio Brando directly or otherwise.

Beginning with Phantom Blood, the story stars Jonathan Joestar as he battles his adoptive step-brother, Dio Brando. Dio's goal is to obtain the Joestar's family wealth by any means necessary. He acquires the powers of a vampire using a stone mask. Jonathan must not only protect his family, but others he holds dear from the clutches of Dio. This rivalry leads to decades of torment from Dio on the Joestar family.

Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z

Based on the iconic manga by the late Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball is one the most influential anime of all time. Dragon Ball, more specifically Dragon Ball Z, is referenced in other popular forms of entertainment besides anime. Given the excitement and thrill of watching a fight in this series, it is easy to see why.

Dragon Ball stars Son Goku as he leaves his home in the countryside to search for seven mystical balls that can grant any wish. Along this journey, he meets allies that would continue to be a part of the series in the sequel Dragon Ball Z. On his quest to become the strongest, Goku must battle foes that threaten the Earth's safety.

Dragon Ball debuted on Fuji Tv on February 26, 1986. Airing until April 18, 1989, 153 episodes were made for Akira Toriyama's masterpiece. Starting immediately afterwards was Dragon Ball Z airing from April 26, 1989 - January 31, 1996 with 291 episodes.

October 2, 2011 marks the date Hunter x Hunter debuted until its end on September 24, 2014. The plot revolves around ten year old Gon Freecs as he departs his home island to find his father after discovering he had become a Hunter. Gon himself wants to follow in his footsteps of being a Hunter. However, in order to be a Hunter, he must take the Hunter Exam. Gon befriends Kurapika, Killua, and Leorio over the course of the exam. Follow Gon and his friends as they take on the treacherous trials of the Hunter Exam.

Through a series of trials, he would be able to return to his body. In return, Yusuke will become a Spirit Detective. Follow the escapades of Yusuke over 112 episodes as he assumes his roles as Spirit Detective in Yu Yu Hakusho.

While there is a significant amount of anime that have 100 or more episodes, like Detective Conan and Yu-Gi-Oh, the anime above are worth the investment.

Watch every title except Bleach on Crunchyroll. All episodes of Bleach are available to watch on Hulu in addition to the Thousand-Year Blood War arc.

rebuild of evangelion gendo ikari figma

Good Smile Company has opened up pre-orders for a figma figure of Gendo Ikari from the Rebuild of Evangelion movie series. Now you can make this old man strike all sorts of poses instead of limiting yourself to the Gendo pose.

Pre-orders are open until September 25, 2024. Those in Japan can get him for 13,200 JPY and he'll ship out some time in April 2025. As for those in North America, he costs $75.99 and will ship out some time in Q3 2025.

Like all figma, the Rebuild of Evangelion Gendo figure has ball joints for you to pose him however you want. He will also come with an additional face part if you don't want to see him with the visor on his face. As well, he'll come with multiple hand parts for a variety of poses. Some of the examples on Good Smile Company's website show him on his knees and rubbing his head, as well as looking up to the sky.

Rebuild of Evangelion is a retelling of the Neon Genesis Evangelion TV series in movie format. While the first two movies more or less depict the show, albeit with some new scenes and a new character, the third and fourth ones completely deviate from the series. Most of the merchandise coming out for Evangelion these days focus on Rebuild of Evangelion. For example, in 2024, a Misato (and Pen Pen) figure came out using her design from the first two films while Good Smile Company released plushes of the three heroines (which includes Rebuild original character Mari).

The Good Smile Company Gendo Ikari figma figure is open for pre-order until September 25, 2024.

Best Seinen Anime of the 2010s Saitama Kaneki Goblin

Seinen anime are often overlooked due to the similarities the demographic shares with shounen anime. Geared towards an older audience, seinen anime depict grittier stories with mature themes. This is not always true, however. Some stories portray comedic undertones while targeting the university and salary man demographic. In the 2010s, seinen anime began to garner the attention of many with releases in this demographic such as Steins: Gate. However, as more seinen were released, the better stories got. Here are a few of the best seinen anime of the 2010s.

2010s best Seinen Anime Vinland saga, Goblin Slayer, Erased

Tokyo Ghoul

Kaneki Ken Tokyo Ghoul
Image via Studio Pierrot

Adapting Sui Ishida's manga of the same name, the plot of Tokyo Ghoul involves death, cannibalism, and acceptance. See the story of Kaneki Ken as a wonderful date takes a turn for the worse. Kaneki is narrowly killed by his date, Kamishiro Rize, while alone in the park. To save his life, doctors replace his organs with those of Kamishiro. However, Kamishiro was a ghoul; a monster who feeds on the flesh of humans. With her organs implanted, Kaneki has become the very thing that almost ended his life. Now Kaneki must navigate this new reality of his while being hunted by police officers. The second season of Tokyo Ghoul, Tokyo Ghoul: re, does not compete with the first season of this ghoulish anime.

In most cases when an anime veers off the path its manga counterpart set in stone, it is often due to the anime catching up to the manga. Animators usually add filler episodes until they have enough material to anime. Naruto is a perfect example as almost half of the episodes are filler. Tokyo Ghoul is different, however. Sui Ishida wanted to take a different route in the anime compared to what he illustrated in the manga. This left fans feeling dejected at the end product. Though Tokyo Ghoul: re isn't the best adaptation, the rest of the series is a good watch.

Erased

Erased official art
Image via A-1 Pictures

If you like time travel, Erased is the anime you should watch immediately. The story of Erased involves 29-year old Satoru Fujinuma, a floundering manga artist who has the ability to cheat death. At every attempt on his life, he is sent back in time minutes before his death occurs. This loop will continue until he prevents this death from happening. One day, after being accused of his mother's death, he is sent back 18 years in the past to when he was a grade school student. To stop his mother's death, he must find the connection between the past and present.

Erased is a story of how past choices affect the future. The themes of this mystery anime depict loss, regret, and consequences of one's action. Erased shows that even if you eventually save everyone else, something will still be lost.

Vinland Saga

Best Revenge Manga Vinland Saga
Image via Kodansha

From its beginnings as a shounen manga, Vinland Saga is the story of Thorfinn, the son of a renowned viking. Thorfinn seeks revenge against his father's murderer, Askeladd. In order to achieve this goal, he joins Askeladd's crew of mercenaries with the single thought of killing him. As the story progresses, Thorfinn continues to face hardships as well as small victories.

Vinland Saga depicts themes of vengeance, redemption, and finding oneself in a historical setting. The author, Makoto Yukimura, drew inspiration from real world events like the Cold War for his depiction of characters in his story. This makes Vinland Saga a worthy watch.

Goblin Slayer

Goblin Slayer Season One
Image via Crunchyroll, White Fox

Goblin Slayer is about what the title suggests: Slaying goblins. In a fantasy world filled with orcs, dragons, and beasts, the most common deaths for rookie adventurers are at the hands of goblins. The Goblin Slayer story follows the escapades of the silver-ranked adventurer, Goblin Slayer, as he strives to achieve his goal of exterminating every goblin. Through trials and tribulation, he has learned every weakness, strategy, and type of goblin to aid him in this goal. Join the Goblin Slayer and his party as they take on these evil beasts.

Goblin Slayer renders a dark image of, what would be, a low level enemy in other anime as a foe that should be feared. This is why Goblin Slayer stands out from most anime in general. Be warned as this dark fantasy depicts gruesome assaults on women.

One Punch Man

torn suit Saitama One Punch Man
Image via Viz Media

Monsters and villains roam the earth, wreaking havoc at every turn. To combat these destructive beings, the Hero Association is formed with upstanding heroes consisting of Class C - S. These ranks determine what level of threat a hero can handle along with their competency. Enter Saitama, a C-Class hero with strength unmatched by anyone. Due to his overwhelming power, Saitama tends to finish every foe he faces in one punch.

One Punch is more comparable to shounen manga akin to Dragon Ball than other seinen titles on this list. The light-hearted comedic tone of the story paired with the bombastic action has One Punch Man standing out against its contemporaries in the seinen category.

Although seinen is steadily gaining footing with audiences, this demographic of anime has been around since Lupin the Third and Berserk. With commercial successes like One Punch Man and Vinland Saga, seinen anime has the chance to garner more attention over time.

Every anime listed above is available to watch on Crunchyroll except for One Punch Man. You can stream every season of One Punch Man on Hulu.

honkai star rail yunli trailer

HoYoVerse has released its final trailer for Yunli prior to her playable debut in Honkai: Star Rail. In the trailer, "Serendipity," you can see both Yunli's strength and her childish personality, as well as check out some cameos from familiar Xianzhou faces.

You can watch the "Serendipity" Yunli trailer for Honkai: Star Rail here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Q1XbBENTZI

It's also available in Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

The trailer starts with a peaceful scene of Yunli napping when she wakes up to see Jing Yuan enjoying a snack of Berrypheasant Skewers. He then makes her grab for it like a dog or a show monkey or something, before a Diting snatches it out from midair, forcing her to chase after it. Somehow, the Diting runs all the way to the Shackling Prison and Yunli fights off enemies that appear. She defeats the final one with a move that even Saber from Fate would be proud of before she finally gets her Berrypheasant Skewer. Or so it would seem...

In terms of gameplay, Yunli will be a 5-star Physical Destruction character. Her kit focuses on her Ultimate, as well as her ability to counter enemy attacks. Her similarities to fellow 5-star Physical Destruction character Clara aren't limited to the fact they both walk around barefoot.

Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. Version 2.4 of Honkai: Star Rail, which features Yunli in its first phase, comes out on July 30, 2024.

Elden Ring 1.13 Patch Notes

FromSoftware has released the patch notes for Elden Ring version 1.13, which includes a series of balance adjustments and bug fixes across all platforms. The patch introduces several PvP-exclusive changes to improve the balance of PvP combat.

Key changes include increased poise damage for normal attacks with Light Great Swords, Backhand Blades, Hand-to-Hand Arts, and Beast Claws. Dual wield attacks with Straight Swords, Thrusting Swords, Curved Swords, Katanas, Spears, Whips, Fists, and Claws have also seen increased poise damage. Several spells and incantations have also been modified, including Miriam's Vanishing and Knight's Lightning Spear.

The patch also includes general balance changes affecting both PvE and PvP. Light Greatsword charge attacks now have increased damage against non-player enemies. Summoned NPCs such as Needle Knight Leda, Pureblood Knight Ansbach, and Thiollier have received stat and status boosts. Summoned spirits, except for the Mimic Tear, have increased attack power and damage negation when upgraded.

Several armaments, including the Repeating Crossbow, Spread Crossbow, and Rabbath's Cannon, have improved attack power scaling when upgraded. The Shield of Night now has increased damage negation for physical attacks, while Euporia has enhanced Holy damage and a shorter restoration process.

Following up on previous concerns, this patch includes the correction of the end credits by adding missing translations. The patch also addresses issues with FP consumption, spell casting behaviors, and multiplayer area borders.

Elden Ring and the DLC Expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, are available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC via steam.

to heart remake

A To Heart remake will come out in 2025. So far, there's no information outside of new cast members and a look at the logo. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

This information came out during the Aquaplus festival stream on July 30, 2024.  However, Aquaplus also teased a new project for the franchise back in May 2024. The new logo design is a lot simpler compared to the original one. For one thing, the big heart behind the name of the game is now gone. As well, the text no longer looks like it's popping out at you.

As for the two new cast members, we know that Kana Ichinose will play Akari Kamigishi and Hina Youmiya will play Multi. Ichinose's previous roles include Suletta in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury, Fern in Frieren, and Hisui in Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon. As for Youmiya, you might have heard her as Yukito in Ayaka, Minami in Oshi no Ko, and Tomori in BanG Dream!.

To Heart is quite a classic dating sim, having come out in 1997 on Windows PC. Since then, there have been multiple adaptations and ports, as well as an anime adaptation. The gameplay is fairly simple. You decide throughout the day where you want to go and what you want to say to characters you encounter in each location. Depending on your affection levels, you'll enter different routes and attain different endings.

The To Heart remake is in development and will come out in 2025. There is no information on platforms as of yet.

In addition to the cat figures, the lineup will also include the cat's companion B-12 as a keychain. This partnership is a key part of the game's narrative. These Stray cat figures, along with the B-12 keychain, will be available randomly. That means you won't know which one you'll get when you pull on the machine.

Stray received several nominations at the 2023 Game Developers Choice Awards, including Best Debut, Best Audio, Best Design, Best Visual Art, and Game of the Year. A Switch version is also in development. However, there's no release date for it yet.

Stray is available on the PS4, PS5, and PC, the cat figures will appear in Japan in November 2024, and the game will also come to the Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

New FFXIV Data Center Travel and World Visit Regulations Added

As of patch 7.05, Square Enix announced two new regulations for the FFXIV Data Center Travel and World Visit system based on congested worlds. While the World Visit Login Capacity doesn't really change in either situation, the Data Center Travel Login Capacity can.

The new designations both apply to FFXIV Standard Worlds Data Center Travel Login Capacity and World Visit Login Capacity. If there are no Congested Worlds in a Logical Data Center, then the capacity will remain standard. However, if there is even one Congested World present, then the Data Center Travel Login Capacity will be greatly reduced. The only time World Visit Login Capacity seems to drop, as usual, remains when a World is classified as Congested.

Square Enix also released the latest lists of Congested, Standard, and Preferred Worlds for FFXIV. Here's how the most recent changes for some select worlds all look for each region. Not that there are no changes for Oceania.

Europe:

Congested Standard Preferred
Cerberus Alpha
Lich Phantom
Louisoix Raiden
Omega Sagittarius
Ragnarok
Spriggan
Twintania
Zodiark

As of time of writing, the worlds Innocence, Pixie, Titania, and Tycoon were all classified as Congested. All of the worlds listed above are on Chaos and Light.

Japan:

Congested Standard Preferred
Fenrir Anima Aegis
Tiamat Carbuncle Belias
Mandragora Gungnir
Masamune Kujata
Pandaemonium Valefor
Ramuh
Shinryu
Tonberry
Typhon

Both Fenrir and Tiamat are Gaia Worlds.

North America:

Congested Standard Preferred
Seraph Exodus
Famfrit
Goblin
Hyperion
Lamia
Malboro
Mateus
Zalera

Seraph is the only Dynamis congested world. Cuchulainn, Golem, Halicarnassus, Kraken, Maduin, Marilith, and Rafflesia are all still showing as "new." This is because this is the latest North American Data Center.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
