Welcome to the Week in Review
Welcome to the Week in Review
In the US (where I live), we're deep in summer, and people are sweltering and vacationing in equal measure. Work feels almost secondary, but that doesn't mean the tech world is slumbering.

Apple somewhat unceremoniously dropped public betas for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 this week. It's an opportunity for everyone to get a first look at Liquid Glass interfaces – they're all quite pretty, but I think they may also split Apple fans, as some of that glassiness can be a bit hard to read. That may be why Apple, in the runup to this release, waffled on about the intensity of the effect.

Samsung is celebrating the retail availability of all the Galaxy gear it launched at Unpacked, including the significantly updated Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7. The sleeper here might be that Galaxy Watch 8: all hail the squircle.

Meanwhile, OpenAI unveiled ChatGPT Agents, which you can use for entire projects. It's like an eager business associate just waiting for you to task it with a complex task: give it the detailed prompt and it will get to work. We dove pretty deep on this one, and I don't think people realize yet how this changes the game.

Elsewhere, Palmer Lucky hopped on a fraught social network to ask a loaded question and got, I think, a predictable answer. Does it really matter where a PC is built, or do we just want an excellent PC at a great price? I'd run a poll, but I think I know the answer.

With Superman in my rearview (yes, I saw it, yes, I loved it), I'm gearing up for Fantastic Four, and the TechRadar review is generally positive. I want to see it, if only for the 1960s vibes. Alright, go back to your poolside drink and trashy summer book. We'll see you next week.
