I'm very sorry, Mungrul and other pixel-combers - I have once again failed to hide a smiley face in the header image for our latest weekend Wappity. Instead, I have cheekily hidden a few upside-down frowns in the curiously tart and succulent descriptions of my absent colleagues, below.

As for those of us who were not absent when this round-up was rounded up on Friday, here's what we're all doing this weekend.

The Early Access Elimination tournament is the first live event to be released in FC 26 Ultimate Team, and you can win plenty of free rewards.

This tournament is only available to those who can play in the early access period. Despite being the first live event of the game, EA Sports has added plenty of interesting rewards for the fans to obtain. Moreover, the ultimate prize is a free entry to the Finale (coming soon) and a promo card.

This guide will clear any confusion regarding the tournament and how it works.

All FC 26 Early Access Elimination rewards

The rewards are divided into different milestones, and you'll have to play and win a fair number of games. The best rewards are reserved for those who manage to win the tournament at least once, if not more.

Completing the full objective also gets you a bonus 75+ 2 Rare Gold Players Pack.

EA FC 26 Early Access Elimination explained

We have gone through the rewards, and we know how to qualify for the Finale tournament. Here are some more pointers to keep in mind.

  • Five daily entries: You can make five daily attempts to play and win the tournament.
  • No squad restrictions: There are no squad restrictions in terms of the overall ratings.
  • Win and wait: If you win the tournament on a given day, you'll need to wait. It doesn't matter if you have more entries available to you.
  • Play players at your own level: The cup is divided into different rounds. You'll always face another player on the same round as yours.
  • Open for all: Expect to find players of different skill levels, but matchmaking will get harder as you move into deeper rounds.

Fellowship Classes and Characters Tier List

The Open Beta for Fellowship has arrived in September, giving dungeon crawler and MMORPG fans the opportunity to skip the grind and jump into dungeon running. We've created a classes and characters tier list to highlight the best characters in the beta and which ones you should try out first.

Fellowship Character Tier List (Open Beta)

We got to experience six characters during the Public Test earlier in February this year. There are seven characters to try out in the Open Beta: two tanks, three DPS, and two healers. A new melee DPS called Mara has been added, while Tariq has been excluded from the beta (he is still on this list).

It's essential to keep in mind that every character is playable and able to complete all the content in Fellowship, and if you take the time to learn a character and excel at them, that will be far better than any tier list ranking.

As such, this tier list aims to highlight the best overall characters during the Open Beta.

S Tier

  • Meiko

    • As a tank, Meiko is also capable of dealing massive amounts of damage, making her a very powerful option for pushing higher-level dungeons. Once you've learned her monk-like combos, you can deal as much damage as a DPS while also timing your cooldowns and self-buffs for unparalleled defensive capabilities.

  • Sylvie

    • While Meiko is a damage juggernaut as a tank, Sylvie is a damage juggernaut as a healer, while still offering incredible healing throughput. If you build up and direct her pets appropriately, you can see Sylvie fly up to the top of the DPS meters and even burst down an enemy quickly.

  • Mara

    • Mara is one of the strongest characters to experience in the Open Beta, but she's also hard to master. Her playstyle is all about building up combo points to execute strong finishers. She also deals poison damage, but ultimately, you'll have to learn when to land her attacks.

A Tier

  • Helena

    • When it comes to pure damage mitigation, Helena is probably slightly ahead of Meiko with her Toughness mechanic. If you just want to be a pure tank, she's your choice. But higher-level dungeon keys will benefit from the higher damage output of Meiko, which is why she pulls ahead.

  • Rime

    • Rime is a caster damage dealer built around builder/spender mechanics, making use of her Winter Orbs to deal massive amounts of burst damage. She's relatively easy to play but can also benefit from optimized play on when to make use of her Winter Orbs, which can push her ceiling even higher.

  • Ardeos

    • Ardeos is a fun character who is relatively easy to master. Most of his abilities do Burn damage that scales up over time. The trick is to use his basic skills to get the remaining Embers, which are then set ablaze as Burning Embers. When triggered, Burning Embers can be used to cast Detonate. This results in instant damage based on the built-up Damage Over Time effects.

B Tier

  • Tariq (unavailable in the beta)

    • If a player takes the time to learn how to play Tariq and learn the mechanics of his Swing Timer and use your builders/spenders properly around the Swing Timer, Tariq can arguably be in the S Tier. However, his mechanics are much tougher to pull off effectively and efficiently, especially when dealing with some of the higher-level dungeon affixes, which makes it hard for him to keep up with Rime.

C Tier

  • Vigour

    • You might be surprised to see one of the healers, Vigour, so low on this tier list. But it's just because Vigour doesn't really bring anything to the table. His strength is AoE Healing, but due to group sizes of only 4, it doesn't quite match Sylvie's usefulness, who can just easily keep everyone up while also dealing massive amounts of damage.

Russo doing the Siu in FC 26

Using a controller to play FC 26 on a PC is turning into a nightmare for many as EA Sports continues to work on a fix.

While you can play with a keyboard and mouse on PC, using a controller is better. It allows you to attack and defend better, but for that, the controller needs to work as intended. EA Sports has acknowledged that there are problems currently when trying to use a controller, and here are some fixes that you can try.

How to fix the controller not working bug in FC 26

It's important to note that these methods are based on a trial-and-error approach. I also encountered problems when playing with my Dualsense controller on my PC, and the methods listed here helped to solve the issues. However, the problems can return until EA Sports releases a permanent fix.

https://twitter.com/EASFCDirect/status/1968812418701611424

  • Use the Steam Big Picture mode: Using Steam's Big Picture mode is known to fix issues related to using a controller. Of course, this method is only applicable if you have bought the game on Steam, but it's still worth trying.
  • Disable Steam Input: This trick worked for me. Go to the game's properties from Steam and then to controller settings. You'll see the option to turn off Steam Input in this section.
  • Check before a game: Currently, FC 26 can change your default input method to keyboard and mouse (yes, even if you have a controller plugged in). You'll have to pause the game and change the input back to controller before resuming the game.

There are two extra tricks to try out. One is to unplug your controller and then plug it again (you'll need to do this quickly if you're in a game, or else you'll be handed a defeat automatically). Alternatively, you can close your Steam and then remove the controller. Connect it again before launching Steam and continuing with FC 26.

Hopefully, one of the methods listed here will help you solve the problems you could be facing when trying to use a controller on the PC. If not, the only solution will be to wait until EA Sports releases a permanent fix.
