Diablo 4 update brings buffs to all classes, and it's great news for Barbarians

A new Diablo 4 update is on the way, and there's good news for everyone as Blizzard unleashes buffs across every class in its RPG. With Season 8 well underway, the developer has decided to dodge the nerfs and instead bring some of its weaker builds more up to speed. The big winners here are Barbarians and Spiritborns, but there's always a chance we might see some new favorites pop up as a result of the changes. There's also a new way to spend your excess Spectral Ash, and some impactful bug fixes that might shake up the tier list.

Overwatch 2 Stadium wants you to feel OP, but Blizzard says it's "gone too far"

While Overwatch 2 Stadium is the breath of fresh air Blizzard's hero shooter has needed for a long time now, it's not perfect. Introducing upgrades and consistent growth between matches presents new balancing challenges, and while the WoW and Diablo maker has faced them head on, it's not been easy. In fact, game director Aaron Keller is admitting that, while Blizzard wants you to feel OP during Stadium matches, some of the builds have "gone too far." So with the Street Fighter 6 collaboration around the corner, Stadium changes are on the way, too.

Borderlands 4's loot and co-op are being massively changed for the better

I still can't quite believe that Gearbox has brought Borderlands 4 forward. The next entry in the looter shooter series is easily my most anticipated game of 2025, and knowing I'll be playing it a few weeks earlier than expected leaves a sweet taste in the mouth. Gearbox certainly seems confident about how BL4 is going, then, and that feels especially true from the team's recent Pax East panel, where they gave us our best look at the FPS yet alongside a mountain of positive quality-of-life changes. So if Borderlands 3 didn't quite hit the mark, don't worry, Gearbox has heard you.

WoW Legion Remix returns to the glory days of 2016, with more for mythic raiders

It's official, World of Warcraft is taking us back to the Broken Isles for its next overhauled event. Following the success of MoP Remix, Blizzard confirms that we'll be visiting another beloved expansion with the arrival of WoW Legion Remix. Announced during the MMORPG's 'Evolving Azeroth' panel at PAX East 2025, it will bring us back to the days of Legion in a dramatically reimagined way with entirely new scaling, added power, and overall silliness. In addition to that, the developer teases that there will be a little more on the table for high-end and mythic players than we got to see in the Mists of Pandaria shakeup.

Grab a free Steam key for Starcraft spiritual successor Stormgate's $60 edition

We may one day see StarCraft 3, but the current rumblings in the undergrowth have yet to materialize in any tangible way. What we have had instead are several spiritual successors aiming to fill that gap in our hearts, and among them Stormgate has some of the most established credentials. Many of the team at developer Frost Giant are former Blizzard employees who worked on the likes of Starcraft, Warcraft, and Diablo. After a shaky launch, the new RTS is now starting to seriously take shape, and we've got ten copies of its ultimate $60 edition to give away if you want to see how far it's come.

Bit miffed this week. I bought a new electric toothbrush and it oscillates so fast it does that thing where my whole mouth feels unbearably itchy. Blech. Balancing this experience against the existence of hundreds of thousands of videogames to play, and I reckon the universe comes out of it with a roughly neutral standing.

Anyway. As much as I know you all love hearing about my current oral situation; here's what we're all playing this weekend!

A popular IP, some challenging and uniquely presented survival mechanics, and a shared world that's ripe for some wild moments, Dune Awakening has all the ingredients to be one of this year's biggest hits, despite the fierce competition. With launch only a month away, Funcom is giving players one final chance to give it a go before the big day, as its massive "large-scale" beta has just kicked off. Despite being an invite-only beta, its player count on Steam is pretty impressive already, and getting access may not be as tricky as you think.

Fatal Fury CotW Mai Shiranui Plush Being Made

Good Smile Company made an EVO Japan 2025 announcement, and it is that the company is preparing a Mai Shiranui plush based on her Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves design. There is no release window for the item yet.

Since this Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves plush is still early in development, there's no photo of a prototype. Instead, Good Smile Company only shared concept art of the character. Mai Shiranui will be wearing her new black outfit, and she'll hold her fan in her right hand. She'll have her hair pulled back in a ponytail.

Here's how it looks so far:

While we don't know exactly how big this Mai Shiranui plush will be, we have some idea based on other plushies released by Good Smile Company. It appears to be in the same style as past Evangelion and Delicious in Dungeon characters. This means she will likely be between five to seven inches and 130mm to 180mm tall. Also, these characters in this line tend to always be made of polyester and cotton.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Mai Shiranui plush is in development.

Prime 1 Studio Bloodborne Gehrman Figure Costs $1,300

Prime 1 Studio revealed a new figure of Gehrman from Bloodborne that costs $1,299/207,790 yen. The figure is now available for pre-order, and it is set to release sometime between August and November 2026. More information on its release will appear in the future.

The figure depicts Gehrman as he appears during his boss fight at the end of the game, standing up from his wheelchair and wielding his Burial Blade scythe trick weapon and a blunderbuss. His hunting garb, coat, and top hat are sculpted with a high level of detail. The figure stands at 68 cm (~27 inches) tall and it weighs approximately 10.4 kg (or about 23 pounds).

Bonus parts for the Burial Blade weapon are also included with the figure. They allow for Gehrman to carry it in its default scythe mode or its trick curved sword mode. The part itself is Gehrman's right hand, and the blade cannot be detached from it. The base is modeled after the garden where his boss fight takes place at the end of the game, surrounded by the fences and white flowers in the arena, and decorated with tree roots and the graves set around the Hunter's Dream.

Check out the Prime 1 Studio figure of Gehrman from Bloodborne here:

This is the fifth Bloodborne figure released by Prime 1 Studio, with other figures based on the Hunter player, Lady Maria, and Eileen the Crow. The Doll from the Hunter's Dream received its own Prime 1 Studio figure on 2024, and it is the only pre-existent Bloodborne figure to still have units available.

The Prime 1 Studio Bloodborne Gehrman figure is now available for pre-order, and it will release between August and November 2026.

Overwatch 2 Street Fighter Skins Include Cammy, Chun-Li

As part of the EVO Japan 2025 reveals, Activision Blizzard and Capcom unveiled an Overwatch 2 Street Fighter skin collection that includes major figures like Ryu, Chun-Li, Cammy, and M. Bison. These skins will be sold starting on May 20, 2025. A trailer also appeared, but it is completely animated and doesn't actually show how each of the designs look in-game.

There will be eight total skins as part of this crossover. We don't know how all will be doled out yet, and if there will be any free options. Typically, these sorts of crossovers involve content being added to the in-game store so people can purchase them for real money.

Here's the full list of costumes available, with all of them being major Street Fighter mainstays like Ryu, Blanka, Chun-Li, Cammy, M. Bison, and Guile.

  • Hanzo will get a Ryu skin.

Overwatch 2 is available for the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Street Fighter skins will show up in-game on May 20, 2025.

Playable characters in Revenge of the Savage Planet

If you've basked in the chaos of Journey to the Savage Planet, its frenzied first-person antics are likely burned into memory. You might expect the sequel to follow suit, but it doesn't. However, all is not lost. Find out whether Revenge of the Savage Planet will return this beloved perspective.

Can you play in first person mode in Revenge of the Savage Planet?

While Revenge of the Savage Planet currently lacks a first-person mode, there's still hope for its return. After numerous fans voiced their disappointment, a developer from Raccoon Logic responded on Reddit, indicating that the team was "considering looking into a first-person option later down the line." Although this wasn't an official confirmation, it's a positive sign, especially considering the wave of negative feedback that has followed the decision to exclude this feature. With enough community pressure and continued dialogue, a first-person mode could very well be added in a future update.

The removal of the first-person option was part of a broader design choice focused on improving accessibility, particularly for platforming challenges and showcasing the game's full-character animations. As someone who has played Revenge of the Savage Planet, I understand the reasoning behind this decision. The third-person perspective enhances the gameplay, helping with long-distance platforming sequences in the game's vibrant world.

However, the lack of a first-person view is more apparent in combat. Engaging with the game's alien creatures and strange, bug-like enemies can feel somewhat clumsy. Switching to a first-person perspective would likely improve the fluidity and precision of combat encounters. Scanning objects would also fit better with this perspective, allowing players to pinpoint and analyze nearby flora and fauna easily.

First-person gameplay was essential to the original Journey to the Savage Planet. There was no third-person mode in the original, making the introduction of the new perspective in Revenge all the more baffling. Offering both perspectives may be the most straightforward path forward to capture the essence of the series and satisfy the player base.

Although there's no official timeline for a first-person mode in Revenge of the Savage Planet, the developer's responsiveness to community feedback bodes well. Since launch, the team has been actively addressing co-op and crossplay issues, suggesting that patches are in the works. Given the overwhelming demand for a first-person feature, the mode may be part of the update that the team's been working on. The fact that the game opens with a first-person cutscene fuels the speculation that the perspective might eventually make a return, but only time will tell. Enzo holding a knife in Mafia: The Old Country

Mafia 3 was the first game in the series to go open-world, and while it aimed to expand the series' scope, it never quite captured what made the earlier titles special. Thankfully, The Old Country is going back to the old ways with a linear story. It's a step in the right direction, putting the spotlight back on what the series does best.

Mafia 1 and 2 laid the foundation for the series' linear gameplay, where the focus was solely on the protagonist's journey, leaving little room for distractions. Who needs an endless open world when the story is so captivating that you're compelled to follow it to the very end? That's what Mafia 2 did for me, my first proper introduction to the series. Watching Vito Scaletta rise through the criminal world wasn't just a story; it was an experience, deeply satisfying as power and wealth flowed with each step, making the journey all the more worthwhile. Seeing The Old Country return to that same focused style feels like the series finally correcting course after the detour that was Mafia 3.

Mafia: Definitive Edition solidified my commitment to the series' linear format, completely revamping the original. Tommy Angelo's story is the epitome of a classic mobster tale: an honest man who takes a wrong turn in life, only to find camaraderie and betrayal in equal measure. The way the game paints his evolution, his immersion in the world of crime, feels both genuine and riveting. The gameplay kept me on my toes, not just with gunfights or routine car chases, but through unique twists, like managing speed to avoid tickets or racing through the streets. I was so engrossed in Tommy's journey that the lack of sidequests or shops to explore didn't matter. All I cared about was what would happen to him next.

Sure, these stories can be completed in about 20 hours. And maybe Mafia: The Old Country's Enzo Favara will turn out the same. It's often said that longer games offer more value in those 20 hours, but Mafia 1 and 2 delivered some of my most memorable experiences. Concise, focused, and to the point, those hours felt far more meaningful.

Sometimes, I want a game I can sit down with, immerse myself in, and finish in a day or two. I can't even count the number of titles collecting dust in my library left unfinished because of their endless grind. With Mafia, every moment counted, leaving me with a lasting sense of accomplishment, no matter how bittersweet those endings might be. I'd much rather have The Old Country follow a similar format than risk an overly drawn-out, forgettable open world.

Even if you prefer open-world mechanics, it's not as though Mafia 1 and 2 abandon those elements. Mafia: Definitive Edition included small but memorable touches, like quirky phone booth sidequests that added a bit of surprise and challenge. One even took you on an out-of-this-world adventure as you survived an alien invasion. I'm still unsure why aliens are in a mobster game, but it made things more interesting. Mafia 2 had its own flavor of exploration, with clothing stores that let you swap outfits to match the fashion of the 1940s and 1950s. There was something charming about picking a fresh coat, tuning in to old-time radio, and cruising through the streets as the city quietly hummed around you.

You could argue that these features hinted at the series' potential to go fully open-world, and at the time, Mafia 3 seemed ready to embrace that path. I was genuinely excited to see the series expand its scope, but the map was wide but empty. Aside from causing chaos in the streets, there wasn't much to discover or do. It became a case of scale over substance. The game's opening hours stood out primarily because they leaned heavily into the narrative. Still, after that, it slipped into a repetitive cycle of taking down crime bosses. The missions lacked variety, and the story, which started with promise, stalled as Lincoln Clay's quest for revenge became increasingly one-note.

Had Mafia 3 followed a tighter, more structured approach, it might have lived up to the emotional weight it was reaching for. Lincoln's story had potential—there were even subtle callbacks to earlier entries that could have deepened the experience. But buried beneath filler content and an overstretched world, the heart that defined Mafia 1 and 2 just didn't come through.

Although Mafia: The Old Country has yet to be released, it already feels like it carries the same spirit that made its predecessors so compelling. I've always loved a good origin story, and shifting from familiar American cities to the mafia's birthplace in Sicily feels like a bold new beginning.

The recent The Old Country trailer has drawn comparisons to GTA 6, likely because the announcements came close together, but the two are in entirely different leagues. Mafia was never meant to be Grand Theft Auto, and it shouldn't try to be. I play Mafia because it offers a focused experience built around a story, not sandbox chaos. That's why I'm relieved that The Old Country isn't chasing open-world trends. Instead of trying to compete with vast, endless games, it's carving its own path, focusing on atmosphere, character, and narrative depth. In a genre obsessed with going bigger, developer Hangar 13's choice to go deeper makes it stand out.
