You've checked your approach speed, you've factored in crosswinds, you know the runway's a short one - but have you made sure it's clear of dinosaurs? It's a problem you may soon be facing in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, because an officially licensed Jurassic World add-on has been announced for the game. Letting you explore several iconic islands, embark on themed missions, and even spot some dinos out the cockpit window, it's aiming to launch in just a few weeks' time.

I've heard a lot of good things about Stormgate, despite its rocky start in early access. The free-to-play RTS not only comes from a studio helmed by ex-Starcraft devs, but it has a science fantasy universe and worldbuilding assisted by Blizzard legend Chris Metzen, as well as some sick looking graphics. I'm usually the kind of person who waits for a game to leave early access before I take the plunge, so luckily for me, Stormgate is hitting 1.0 today. Even better, you can play its much-anticipated debut campaign right now.

We've not seen a genuinely competitive Intel gaming CPU in some time, at least on our gaming PCs, but it's a different case on mobile. A new set of benchmarks shows that the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V is a decent performer on the MSI Claw 8 AI+ compared to the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme. While AMD does still come out on top, it's not a total disaster for Intel, proving it can be a serious contender in future handhelds against AMD-powered options such as the Steam Deck.

That's a far cry from its dominant position a few years ago, but Intel will be happy to know it can compete in this arena. AMD has, so far, dominated the market, with all the models on our best handheld guide using AMD chips so far. Luckily, MSI has helpfully used both AMD and Intel processors in its Claw lineup, allowing us to see how an Intel-powered Steam Deck rival can perform against AMD alternatives.

AMD is reportedly ready to finally move to a new gaming CPU socket in the next few years, with the first unconfirmed details about its future AM6 socket starting to leak out. The new AM6 design will reportedly feature a higher pin count, but will retain a very similar design, giving it compatibility with existing AM5 coolers.

We're expecting to see AM6 appear with future Zen 7 gaming CPUs, with earlier AMD Zen 7 rumors pointing to a late 2027 or early 2028 launch date. It looks like you'll need a new motherboard when Zen 7 launches, however, with existing designs in our best gaming motherboard guide all featuring the AM5 layout. With a higher pin count, cross-compatibility with older AMD chips won't be an option.

Citizen Sleeper also pops into my head relatively regularly. And then there's Disco Elysium. I've run out of superlatives for Studio ZA/UM's detective RPG masterpiece, but the game has been marred in recent years by explosive divisions within the development team, which has led to the original creators leaving the studio. Helldivers 2's warp pack sounded like great fun as soon as it was announced as part of last month's Control Group warbond, and it's warped its way into many players' hearts. This is thanks in part to some cool tricks and glitches you can use it to pull off, with the game's latest patch having seen Arrowhead opt to outlaw the cheekiest of these.

You see, for the uninitiated, each mission in the shooter kicks off with you descending onto a planet and therefore ends with you being extracted via shuttle back up to your ship. It's the circle of Helldiver life and it moves us all. Well aside from folks who'd taken to using a well-timed warp to escape their ride home as it took off.

A brace of Silent Hill f reporting has treated us to the first details of the game's combat system. Here are the headlines: counter attacks, weapon degradation and an energy bar that lets you perform power moves and dodge in slow motion. Yotsuba&! Yotsuba Koiwai Nendoroid Returns in 2026

Back in 2019, a Yotsuba&! Nendoroid of Yotsuba Koiwai appeared, and now the figure of the manga character will finally be back in 2026. She'll return in Japan in February 2026, then later launch again in Q3 2026 worldwide. She'll cost ¥5,500/$36.99. While it is still possible to find the original at some stores online, she's far more expensive than expected due to being out of print.

Yotsuba is a bit unusual for one of these types of figures. That's because she has five face plates with her. They show her when she's happy, staring blankly, shouting, crying, or extremely joyful. She has her teddy bear Juralumin (Julietta) with her, which has its own stand or can be held by the figure. She also comes with a paintbrush and can of paint. Basically, it's everything she came with before.

Here are some of the example photos.

This isn't the only Yotsuba Koiwai Nendoroid out there, as Good Smile Company released a variant in 2023. She appeared in a winter coat for that figure. The Juralumin bear that came with that one was dressed to match her.

2026 marks another notable occasion for Yotsuba&!. Another volume of the manga in which Yotsuba Koiwai, her dad, and her neighbors' daily lives are on display will debut early next year in English. Yen Press confirmed it will launch volume 16 on January 20, 2026. This comes years after volume 15 debuted in September 2021.

The Yotsuba Koiwai Nendoroid will show up in Japan again in February 2026, then release worldwide in Q3 2026. Pre-orders close on September 17, 2025.

Sanrio Switch 2 Cases Feature Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll

Sanrio announced a new Allone collection of separate clear cases for the Nintendo Switch 2, with Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and Cinnamoroll among the featured mascot characters on them. There will be six styles total. They'll debut in Japan on August 8, 2025, and each one is 2,530円 (~$17). While there's no US release date for them, we have seen past Allone Sanrio cases for older Nintendo models appear on storefronts like Amazon.

Each of the clear cases are designed to snap around both the consoles and the Joy-Con 2 controllers. There is a gap in the back of the case designed to hold the console so the stand can still be extended. With the Joy-Con 2, there are holes for the controller buttons to go through. While mascots like Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, My Melody, Pochacco, or Pompompurin are the focus on each Switch 2 case, other characters appear alongside them in some cases. Baku is on the back of the Kuromi case with her. Flat is holding hands with My Melody for that one. Cinnamoroll stands next to Milk. Finally, Pompompurin's best friend Muffin the hamster is present on that accessory.

Here's how all six designs look, as well as what the packages for them look like. We only see how each one looks from the back.

NIKKE Tactical Upgrade Emma, Eunhwa, and Vesti Appear rapi

Shift Up shared details about the next Goddess of Victory: NIKKE update arriving on August 7, 2025, and it will feature an Absolute story event featuring the members of the squad after Rapi leaves, with Tactical Upgrade alts of the characters Emma, Eunhwa, and Vesti also appearing as part of it. Each of them will roll out in banners staggered throughout the update in August. Likewise, the story will start immediately after the update, then continue after the second part releases on August 14, 2025.

Here's the Goddess of Victory: NIKKE Absolute trailer that goes over the departure of Rapi, gets into the Tactical Upgrade story, and shows the reactions of her allies Emma, Eunhwa, and Vesti. It begins with the three of them finding out Rapi is no longer of the squad. Emma explained she saw Rapi's room and notes before this happened. From there, we see some gameplay footage clips that highlight each of them in battle. That starts with Eunhwa, before moving on to Emma and Vesti. A Day Off Eunhwa: Tactical Upgrade costume and teasers for the chapters show up after that. So is the Solo Raid Museum.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TJpzeWrq_U

We know the full schedule for when each SSR Goddess of Victory: NIKKE character banner will appear too. Note that each one of them will be available in Ordinary Recruit, Social Point Recruit, and from Mold items once their focus banner ends.

  • Emma: Tactical Upgrade - August 7, 2025 to September 4, 2025. She's a Supporter who uses the Special Therapy T machine gun and deals Fire damage.
  • Eunhwa: Tactical Upgrade - August 14, 2025 to September 4, 2025. She's an Attacker who uses her Perfectionist T sniper rifle and deals Fire damage.
  • Vesti: Tactical Upgrade - August 21, 2025 to September 4, 2025. She's an Attacker who uses a Pure Monster T rocket launcher to deal Fire damage.

The Eunhwa: Tactical Upgrade Day Off costume is available in the Not Tactical 21-day login event as a reward.

Goddess of Victory: NIKKE is available for the PC and mobile devices, and the Absolute Tactical Upgrade storyline with new versions of the characters Emma, Eunhwa, and Vesti start to arrive on August 7, 2025.

See 8.4 Honkai Impact 3rd Coralie Battlesuit Behold! Fate-Defying Dragon

While people who took part in the 8.4 Honkai Impact 3rd beta already saw the Coralie Battlesuit Behold! Fate-Defying Dragon, HoYoVerse started sharing details about the new character online ahead of her debut in the next patch. There's a trailer showing her off, and we already know some details about her typing and attacks due to previous announcements.

This Coralie Battlesuit is a Mecha type. As the name suggests, she gained draconic abilities as a result of the story so far, and that's reflected in her appearance and attacks. She'll be able to use claws as well as a hammer. She'll deal Fire damage too, and she does feature Astral Ring abilities like other Part 2 units.

Here's the full Honkai Impact 3rd YouTube Short for the Coralie Battlesuit Behold! Fate-Defying Dragon.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/GnMuPluYiK4

Her original Valkyrie Blastmetal debuted after Part 2 of the story started. While that also deals Fire damage with its attacks, it is a PSY type unit.

This will mark the second additional Battlesuit for a Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2 character in a row. The 8.3 patch added Erdos Helia Planar Armament: Warped Spacetime. She's close connected to Coralie. The two are partners who work together as part of the Mars Exploration initiative.

Honkai Impact 3rd is available for the PC and mobile devices, and the Coralie Battlesuit Behold! Fate-Defying Dragon will debut in the upcoming 8.4 update.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land Switch 2 Expansion Trailer Appears

Nintendo shared a trailer for Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Star-Crossed World, given the Switch 2 expansion and update arrives on August 28, 2025, and the video highlights the new story and gameplay. Things all begin with a meteor crashing, transforming the terrain and existing monsters and scattering Starries everywhere.

Since Star-Crossed World is taking place in the Forgotten Land, many of the areas will look familiar. This is because Kirby will be returning to spots he visited in the main campaign to deal with the new threats and collect the Starries. Because of the influence of the meteor, crystals can completely change the landscape and terrain, perhaps even offering access to new areas.

This will also mean three new Kirby Mouthful Modes present, with gameplay highlighting how each work in Kirby and the Forgotten Land Star-Crossed World. Spring Mouth triggers when he inhales a spring, and it allows him to jump to greater heights and perhaps even smash down on enemies and objects. Inhaling a gear triggers Gear Mouth and makes it possible to vertically and horizontally scale certain areas. Inhaling a sign causes him to go to Sign Mouth mode, which lets you sled down inclines.

Here's the full Kirby and the Forgotten Land Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World expansion gameplay and story trailer.

Ride a Giant Cat Mount in FFXIV With Shagcat Shagcoat cat whistle

Square Enix updated the Final Fantasy XIV Online Store to add a Shagcat mount that lets someone ride a giant Shagcoat Cat with unique animations throughout the lands and skies. It costs $24, and that gets you a whistle you can use to summon it.

As is common for these more expensive mounts, it is an account-wide purchase. So every character you own will get a Shagcoat Cat Whistle in their inventory. It basically resembles a Maine Coon or Norwegian Forest Cat with a blue bow around the neck as a collar. Three mount actions are available when riding it. One features the cat stretching, another shows it cleaning its paw, and the last one makes it hiss.

Square Enix shared a trailer with us, so we can see all three of those mount actions and what it's like to ride it on the ground and through the sky.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17DelmDhGT8

Here are the official screenshots:

While the Shagcoat Cat is a feline mount in FFXIV, it isn't the only one available. A number of others also appeared ahead of it. Fatter Cat is another one based on the existing Fat Cat mascot character that also appeared as a minion. It's also another cat mount sold in the Final Fantasy XIV Online Store for $24. A Coeurl appeared in the A Realm Reborn Collector's Edition as a bonus. Dark Knights can earn a War Panther too.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Shagcat mount Shagcoat Cat Whistle is available in the FFXIV Online Store alongside the 7.3 update.

For about three weeks from August 8, 2025, you'll be able to purchase a special McDonald's Japan Happy Meal manga version of the South Korean manhwa series Survival. This volume will feature Geo and Pipi going to the Zombie Park theme park and going through various troubles while explaining how attractions like roller coasters work to teach kids about physics and the like. The Survival manhwa won't be the only thing you can get from McDonald's Japan this summer, as Pokemon are back. On August 8, 2025, you'll be able to get a toy with your Happy Meal. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

The Survival book will cost 490 JPY ($3.35), and is a special edited version of the theme park volume of the series. If you scan the QR code that comes with the book, you can also play two games that'll let you use what you learned in the book. The first game, Safe Gatekeeper, has you deciding if someone passes the safety requirements to let them on a ride. The second game, Drop Tower Operation, is a programming game that has you operating a drop tower. You will only be able to play these games until September 30, 2025.

As for the Pokemon McDonald's Happy Meal toys, possible prizes feature Pikachu, Squirtle, Eevee, and Charmander. There is also a secret toy. McDonald's Japan originally announced these toys in mid-July 2025, though it only posted pictures of Pikachu and Charmander. McDonald's will also give Pokemon cards to those who purchase a Happy Meal, and everyone can receive a special Pikachu card.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnLOdbpFLJ4

The Survival comic is only available for purchase at McDonald's Japan from August 8, 2025, which is also when the Pokemon toys appear as Happy Meal prizes.

Monster Hunter Khezu lamp

Capcom has opened a new listing for a room lamp modeled after Khezu from the Monster Hunter series on its Japanese e-Capcom website. This lamp will appear in December 2025 at ¥5,500 / $37.25, and people residing outside Japan can also place orders via the WorldShopping widget.

This chibi Khezu lamp will be around 14 cm (~5.5 in) long, with an approximate width and height of 10.5 cm (~4.13 in). The owner will be able to power the lamp with a USB Type-C cable or three AAA batteries.

The lamp will have two light color modes in white and blue. The latter will represent the in-game scenes of Khezu launching an electric attack, but Capcom assures prospective owners that this mode will not electrocute them in any way. The lamp can also turn off the lights by itself after four hours have passed.

These sample images show how the lamp will look like:

Capcom has been frequently releasing merchandise based on Khezu as one of the most popular monsters from the Monster Hunter series. Prior examples include the early 2025 Sushiro collaboration that had a Khezu tissue holder and the 2025 Osaka Expo that featured a Myaku-Myaku colored Khezu figure and Gaufre-fre waffle cans.

The Monster Hunter Khezu room lamp will be available on December 11, 2025.

Grounded 2 buggy that you can control and ride

The Network Center is one area that is harder to access in Grounded 2, but it can be well worth it.

The Network Center, as hinted in the name, is part of the Networking story quest. To complete the quest, you'll have to gain access to the center, which also has an extra optical disk for you. Let's find out how you can gain access to the Network Center.

How do you gain access to the Network Center in Grounded 2?

The Network Center can be accessed from the Statue. Two entrances lead you to the base. Your choice doesn't matter; both will lead you to the Cement Tube. Keep heading down the path leading to the center, and turn to find the locked door.

Grounded 2 Statue map
Screenshot by Destructoid

This door will be locked, and there's no way to enter. Instead, chomp the dead roots on the left of the door with your buggy, follow the corridor, and you'll reach the Rock Maze. After reaching the maze, turn left and follow the path that takes you north.

Grounded 2 Locked Door

Once the path ends, you'll reach a large area with a green hose and red ball (your cue that you're on the right track). Go south from the green hose until you find Captain Nitro. Defeat the boss to reach another set of dead roots that will lead you back to the Network Center.

Keep chomping on the roots, and you'll come across a door. You're not supposed to go through the door. Instead, you'll find a branch that goes down. Follow it until you find a red ribbon. You'll encounter enemies along the way, so stay frosty.

The red ribbon will lead you to Lieutenant Blade, with whom I struggled a bit. Once defeated, you can keep following the ribbon until you reach the bush's branches. From there, keep jumping and moving upwards. You'll again find a few enemies before coming across a maple leaf. Use this leaf as a springboard to jump onto the statue.

You'll find a white fuse box on the statue. Jump on the fuse to reach the statue's center, where you can use a ladder to get into the Network Center.

Abathur in Heroes of the Storm wearing a red pajama skin.

Heroes of the Storm died in July 2022. Except... it didn't.

I was sad the game had officially gone into maintenance mode. The Blizzard all-stars MOBA was my favorite online game since I started playing it in 2015, shortly after its release. But I can't say I was surprised, because it felt like HotS had been abandoned much sooner than that.

"Moving forward we will support Heroes in a manner similar to our other longstanding games, StarCraft and StarCraft II," Blizzard's death sentence to HotS read. "Future patches will primarily focus on client sustainability and bug fixing, with balance updates coming as needed."

Facing the harsh reality of maintenance mode was difficult, but believing that Blizzard would support the game for a long time was even harder.

The game's downfall started when Blizzard killed the Heroes of the Storm Global Championship in December 2018, while also announcing it would slow down game updates to set up the game for "long-term sustainability." Still, they promised "new heroes, themed events, and other content that our community loves."

In 2019, game updates that used to happen weekly popped up every 15 days. A year later, still with lots of reworks and balance updates, it became one update every 30 days, with developers not seeing "any end in sight." They kept that update pace in 2021, but it took the entire year for HotS to see new content that ended up only being cosmetic items for Starcraft, Diablo, and Warcraft characters already in the roster. No new heroes had been released since Wacraft's Gnoll King, Hogger, on December 1, 2020.

It was on July 8, 2022, after only two updates in that year, that the game's development was pronounced dead. Still, there was a promise of continued support to keep the servers running.

That was when I stopped playing Heroes of the Storm for good. The story Blizzard told the community about how they'd support the game felt like a lie. In 2018, they said we'd get several original Nexus characters exclusive to HotS, but they only released Orphea and Qhira. They also said new content would keep coming in 2019 and onward, but didn't release any maps or heroes after 2020.

They were telling us to move on, I said to myself. And I moved on.

The Nexus hero Qhira slashing enemies with her whip.
Qhira, a Nexus hero exclusive to Heroes of the Storm, that you'll probably never see in any other Blizzard game. Image via Blizzard Entertainment.

Wait, people still play this game?

Bored in July 2025, I remembered Heroes of the Storm was still in the Blizzard launcher and installed it only to learn that people are still playing the game. HotS was never the most popular game, so the five-minute queues even felt nostalgic.

Other things felt like they were in the right place, or even better. The Heroes subreddit is active, with sometimes hundreds of players online, and that's where I got the feeling most players took maintenance mode well. There's a running joke about "The Janitor," believed to be a single developer or a small team who keeps HotS clean and ordered for everyone to use since 2022.

Whoever the Janitor is, they're doing great work. HotS is the healthiest dead game I've ever played. Aside from some weird reworks to Tassadar and a few other heroes, the game in 2025 feels the same as it always has, and it's comforting for someone with almost 3,000 matches like myself.

Keeping Heroes of the Storm alive is a good move by Blizzard. They could've followed the footsteps of Ubisoft's shutdown of The Crew or EA's abandonment of Anthem, but instead they're keeping the game alive just like they've been doing with Starcraft 2 and Warcraft Rumble.

I'm not saying Blizzard is perfect, and we know it's not. The sexual harassment and workplace culture scandal that happened in 2021 forced massive changes in the company. The repeated layoffs caused insecurity among developers of the games we love the most. The Microsoft merger created a gigantic corporation that edges far too close to a monopoly.

Hell, even in HotS, Blizzard received backlash when it canceled the esports league without letting teams and content creators plan beforehand.

Still, in terms of keeping their games alive, Blizzard is doing it right. They were also right about what they needed to keep Heroes of the Storm alive, and other publishers should probably copy them. Hire a Janitor, make sure the game doesn't break, and stop killing games. Players will have fun and even spend some money.

Ragnaros throwing meteors and lava at enemies in a keyart of Warcraft Rumble
Warcraft Rumble is another dead game Blizzard is keeping alive in maintenance mode. Image via Blizzard Entertainment.

We should play dead games

Playing an online game that gets no content updates might not seem worth it, but if you check the now-empty Reddit communities of games that were shut down, you'll see how much worse it is to not be able to play something you had fun with. Something you played with friends, grew up with, or even just put time and money into. It's sad to visit communities like the subreddit of the defunct dodgeball brawler Knockout City and see post titles written with "was" and "could," players calling video highlights "old," or simply sharing that mourful feeling of "I miss this game so much."

When a game dies, it feels like a magical part of us dies too. Returning to a video game after years is like time-traveling and recalling all the emotions, thoughts, and moments we lived back then.

I remember calling my friend to play Heroes of the Storm when I was fresh out of college, and playing for hours with him and his friends that I never even met in person. The inside jokes, the ranked frustration, the weird comp wins, the rage quitting, and getting trolled.

Fortunately, I still have access to all of that whenever I play HotS today, and I wish more people could say the same about the games they enjoy.

Mohamed Salah TOTS in EA FC 25

We are steadily approaching the release date for FUTTIES Team 5, which will be the final release batch for the promo in EA FC 25.

So far, we have had four teams of FUTTIES items in packs. They have featured some amazing cards rated 98 and 99. The same trend should continue with Team 5. So far, no leaks or teases have dropped on social media, but it's pretty easy to predict some of the names that we might see.

All EA FC 25 FUTTIES Team 5 players (predictions)

Plenty of big names can be contenders to be part of Team 5. These include active footballers and icons alike.

  • Diego Maradona
  • Mia Hamm
  • Ronaldinho
  • Erling Haaland
  • Mohamed Salah
  • Theo Hernandez
  • Grimaldo
  • Harry Kane
  • Wendie Renard
  • Alexia Putellas
  • Sakina Karchaoui

Once again, these are my predictions, and not based on any leaks or official teasers. I will be pretty surprised if we don't get a special card for Maradona, given that we have already had Pele in week 1. Aside from cards in packs, there should be more items being released as parts of SBCs, objectives, and cups.

EA FC 25 FUTTIES Team 5 release date (expected)

Every FUTTIES team so far has been a week-long affair. EA Sports is unlikely to alter that plan, and FUTTIES Team 5 should be in packs on Friday, Aug. 8. It's the same day the FUTTIES Team 4 items are removed from the packs. Packing the items, then, will depend on luck.

Aside from FUTTIES cards, you can also find many older promo cards in packs. FUTTIES Best of Re-Release Batch 3 is currently active, and they should continue to be in packs when FUTTIES Team 5 items are released. There are over 200 special cards that you can use on your team or to complete SBCs.

Festival Flight, a water gun-shaped grenade launcher for Solstice in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2's Solstice added the Festival Flight to the game, the first Strand area denial frame in the game. It can be a good pick if you're looking for a new weapon for your Kinetic slot, especially if you get a god roll.

Festival Flight adds another area denial frame to your Kinetic slot, after Echoes' Lost Signal. This time, the grenade launcher comes in Strand green instead of the dark blue of Stasis. It has more options than Lost Signal thanks to being a product of a newer sandbox instead of being the first of its kind, so you have access to more unique combinations.

Here are our PvE god rolls for Festival Flight in Destiny 2, if you can ever put your Mint Retrograde down. Since Festival Flight is more aligned to PvE, we're focusing on that side of the god roll coin instead.

Festival Flight PvE god roll in Destiny 2

The three weapons in Solstice 2025: a bow, a Tex Mechanica SMG, and an area denial grenade launcher.
Yes, it comes in Holofoil. Image via Bungie

  • Barrel: Quick Launch, Smart Drift Control, or Linear Compensator.
  • Mag: High-Velocity Rounds.
  • First perk: Demolitionist, Blast Distributor, or Ambitious Assassin.
  • Second perk: Attrition Orbs or One For All.
  • Honorable mentions: Frenzy or Binary Orbit.

The third column for Festival Flight has a few good options to watch. Demolitionist is our favorite here. Ambitious Assassin helps make tube launchers even better by giving you more than one round in the mag (shoutout to Forbearance), and it's certainly nothing to dismantle instantly. Blast Distributor also has the potential to make grenade builds even more powerful by bumping your Grenade stat.

Slice shows promise by letting you sever multiple targets easily, but it's a tough sell against the competition. Envious Arsenal isn't bad either, especially if you want to use it in boss rotations or are using your heavy liberally.

The real stars are in the fourth column. Festival Flight can roll Demolitionist and Attrition Orbs, the combination that crowned VS Velocity Baton as one of the most sought-after weapons in Destiny 2 last year. This perk was so strong on the Vesper's Host grenade launcher that it underwent brutal nerfs specific to its archetype. It's not the borderline illegal orb-printing machine it used to be, but it's still quite good.

We tested Attrition Orbs on Mythic difficulty using a VS Velocity Baton, and it's not difficult to generate orbs, though you might need to spread out your projectile to rain on a bigger area. Enemies in higher difficulties stay longer in the pool, so you get more ticks and more orbs. The post-Edge of Fate ammo economy is still a bit off for area denial frames, though, and a damage perk can help in that regard (sans the orb generation).

For more damage, three perks are standout choices: Frenzy, Binary Orbit, and One For All. Frenzy is a tried-and-true trait that grants you more damage, handling, and reload speed just by being in combat, no kills required. One For All only asks that you hit three enemies, which isn't difficult, while Binary Orbit requires a kill with a Light element to work with Festival Flight. Our choice might have been different with any other weapon, but One For All is our favorite for this grenade launcher.

How to get Festival Flight in Destiny 2

You can get more rolls of Festival Flight (and the rest of the Solstice weaponry) by completing featured activities in the Portal. Hovering your mouse over each activity will tell you there's a Distorted Solstice Engram available as a reward. This can get you any Solstice reward, including armor, and its quality depends on your difficulty, reward score, and Guardian Rank.

Destiny 2 Solstice 2025 armor

Destiny 2's summer seasonal event, Solstice, is back, and it's largely a dud outside of some cosmetic items.

The most exciting cosmetics that you can pick up are paid, unsurprisingly, meaning you have to fork over some real-world money for them, including a silly new beachgoing armor set for each class. But honestly, the paid cosmetics are all pretty awesome, and the best part of the playable event for me. The two standouts are a new vehicle and a Ghost Shell.

Destiny 2 Megalodasher vehicle
Screenshot by Destructoid

Destiny 2 Grillmaster Ghost Shell
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Megalodasher Skimmer vehicle is basically a flying surfboard that looks like a bad-ass shark, and the Grillmaster shell equips your companion with a chef hat and apron, but also some adorable animations as it will occasionally toss around the tongs and spatula in its little hands.

The vehicle (1,200 Silver) and Ghost Shell (800) can be purchased separately, or as part of a bundle with more items for 2,500 Silver, which works out to $25, or more than half the price of the recent The Edge of Fate expansion. But they are both more interesting to me than the event this year.

In previous years, Solstice had a special activity played in a unique area called the European Aerial Zone or EAZ, where you would group up to kill enemies and bosses in waves as fast as you could. This year, it instead utilizes the new Portal feature, which is something like a shuffled playlist of random activities throughout the game, and they are activities that Destiny 2 gamers have played ad nauseam. But now, they have modifiers.

I took one look at the quest for this year's event, nodded my head, and closed the game.

The Portal is not for me. I have been playing these missions, Strikes, Battlegrounds, and other activities for years already. EAZ was wearing thin, but at least it had its own identity. Maybe the quest gets more interesting after step one, but I'll have to find out through friends to see if it's worth turning the game back on again in the near future. I see there are new weapons to unlock, too, but I don't think I care, unfortunately.

With Solstice coming to an end on Aug. 19, I don't think I'll be dipping my toes back in before then.

An image of Madden 25 where a player is tackling another

Madden NFL 26 is going to be one of the biggest releases in August, and we are gradually moving towards the launch day.

However, the exact release schedule can always be confusing. Unlike College Football 26, Madden's next chapter will also be arriving on PC, which will have a slightly different schedule (if you bought the game from Steam). Let's quickly take a look at when you can join the action next month.

When will Madden NFL 26 come out?

The exact release date depends on the edition you get. Madden NFL 26 is available in two editions: Standard and Deluxe, with the latter offering early access. EA Play subscribers (and trial members) will also get early access.

If you plan to purchase the Deluxe Edition, the following countdown will help you keep track of the launch. Early access begins on August 7, and kicks off simultaneously across all regions.

While the Digital Deluxe Edition allows you to play the game early, it's more expensive. If you're willing to wait a few days, the Standard Edition is a fine choice. Keep in mind, you do miss out on three days of early action and certain benefits that are extremely useful in Ultimate Team. Regardless, here's the Standard Edition countdown.

Once again, the release date for PC will be different (irrespective of whether you purchase your copy from Epic, Steam, or EA's own website). We will add that to this piece once EA Sports confirms the exact times.

Strange mechanical creature fighting with humans in Zephon.

Developed by Proxy Studios, who you might know as the masterminds behind Warhammer 40K: Gladius, Zephon is a 4X title much akin to its older brother, only much more glorious.

With a post-apocalyptic world ridden with rogue AIs, horrors beyond comprehension, and out-of-this-world (literally) 4X gameplay, it stands among the greatest strategy games I've ever played, and you've likely never heard of it.

A world gone to hell and back and back to hell

Art of a woman clad in robes sitting at a tentacle-wrapped throne with a child in her lap in Zephon.
There's more lore and writing in this game than in a modern RPG. Screenshot by Destructoid

Zephon is as much a 4X game as a narrative-driven story-heavy title, where a strange, unique world is unveiled to you each turn and at every corner.

Whether through quests, discoveries around the world, conversations with other civilizations, or any other means of storytelling (and trust me, there are a lot of those here), Zephon presents you with a ruined, post-apocalyptic future where eldritch horrors, superintelligence, spiritual beings, and cyberpunk dystopias all come together.

It plays much like Civilization, and, as noted in the intro, Gladius, which the devs extensively worked on. Essentially, you can consider Zephon an upgraded version of Gladius, given that it shares much of its DNA with it both in regard to gameplay and design. Where the two differ is the setting, which, though the 40K universe is a stellar one and among my favorites, sits a degree higher.

You spawn in with a select civilization, each with a specific affinity. These affinities determine how other civilizations perceive you, what your immediately available technologies and units are, and what story you will get to explore. It's super dynamic, weird, and unique, allowing every match to feel different.

And they don't feel different just because the gameplay varies between civilizations, no. What determines the dynamic nature of this game is the way the story unfolds. You get different quests, dynamic encounters, dialogue choices, decisions, and paths to follow. Everything is told through microcosmic narration and characters, all of which interact with the civilization you've chosen (and the choices you've made).

You can meet a rogue AI and decide whether to go with or against it, find a barbaric king hiding out and carrying a unique artifact (which you can steal or leave alone), or encounter eldritch abominations hellbent on world domination. The possibilities are nigh endless, as Zephon incorporates aspects of various genres and styles to allow for a world where anything is possible.

Terminator and 40K seep through

Units battling in Zephon.
Man-made horrors beyond our comprehension, inspired by popular franchises, permeate Zephon's maps and world. Screenshot by Destructoid

The 40K influence is also pretty evident in the art direction, as most panels resemble those found in Games Workshop's incredible tabletop, which can be attributed to Proxy Studio's experience with it.

But what stands out the most are the Terminator vibes. Machines kept on fighting in a war long after their creators and users had passed. Kept chugging along and engaging in endless combat, the few humans remaining eventually rising up against them. That sounds pretty familiar, and there's even a Skynet-like AI in there, too, the one I've mentioned above.

Each of these narrative aspects of the game seeps through during every match, its outcome determined only by what you do and choose, and what civilization you're playing as.

I could go on about all the various popular franchises Zephon took pages out of. But why would I, when you can go out and play it for yourself? It's an A-class experience and you can pick it up for less than your average modern live-service title.

And, what's more, it gets regular updates which expand on gameplay, story, add new maps and civilizations, etc., all for free. No DLC, no expansions, no Firaxis and 2K shenanigans bleeding you dry.

Do it. Try it. You won't regret it.

Hell is Us gameplay reveal

Console players who are eager to check out the upcoming action-RPG Hell is Us will get a chance to do so next week, the devs have announced. After PC players already had their fun, console users will get a proper demo on Aug. 12, ahead of the game's launch.

As confirmed by Hell is Us developers The Rogue Factor, the action-RPG will launch a demo on consoles on Aug. 12, giving players on the PS5 and Xbox Series S and X a chance to try the game out ahead of release. PC players already had a demo run in June, which lasted for three weeks, and it's likely the same will happen with consoles (given that the game launches on Sept. 4).

It goes without saying that the demo will be free and available to anyone who wishes to play it.

https://twitter.com/HellisUsGame/status/1952746489588986073

In case you missed out, Hell is Us is a narrative-driven action-RPG set in a strange and mysterious country where you "discover the secrets of your past and deal with the repercussions of a mysterious calamity." Military intrigue, shadow figures, and an unravelling world await players, alongside strong combat, branching dialogue, and, you guessed it, boss fights.

It's beyond a doubt one of the coolest-looking games we've had in a while, combining a lot of that militaristic Kojima-esque weirdness with modern action-RPG elements to create a hauntingly atmospheric title. It's also just around the corner, slated to release on Sept. 4 and open up the Fall release window, which is packed to the brim with awesome AAA and smaller titles.

If you're on console, do make sure you give it a try as of Aug. 12 and tell us in the comments whether you liked it (or not, I don't judge).

What's the theme of Fortnite Chapter 6, season 4?

The theme of Fortnite Chapter Six, season four is Shock 'N Awesome, and focuses on stopping a massive bug invasion that has overtaken the island following the conclusion of the Chapter Six, season three live event. During the live event, Daigo summoned a massive kraken creature that was defeated by Superman, the Supernova Academy squad, and all players who attended.

This creature left behind a massive tentacle, which has now started to rot. Strange craters have since popped up around the tentacle, likely the gateway through which the bugs featured in the next season will arrive on the island.

The next season of Fortnite comes with new weapons, locations, skins, enemies, and much more that likely won't be revealed until the season officially starts. Here's a breakdown of everything we know about it so far.

  • New battle pass skins – Megazord, a female Spartan from Halo, the green Power Ranger (Tommy Oliver), a Panda, a gamer girl, a fighter woman, and an OXR soldier have been revealed so far. There's one more skin on the battle pass that hasn't been revealed yet.
  • New enemies – Bugs are taking over the island, giving us a new foe to battle with.
  • New weapons and loot – A gun called the Swarmstike is the only officially named weapon that's been teased so far. We've also seen a new minigun, shotgun, and rifle.
  • New locations – All new seasons come with at least a few fresh locations, and a few of them can be spotted in the background of the trailer and teaser images shared so far. We don't know where they will appear yet, but it's almost certain that Demon's Domain will be replaced, since this is where the bugs will likely spawn.

BO6 Zombies Reckoning map

Prepare for the first of several FPS clashes to round out 2025 this weekend, gamers. It's Battlefield and Call of Duty all over again.

On Thursday, Aug. 7, both the Battlefield 6 open beta and Black Ops 6 season five updates will be going live. And so, just like later this fall, the two massive FPS franchises will be going head-to-head for gamers' time and, eventually, money.

Several men standing and watching at an explosion in the distance in Battlefield 6.
Image via EA

This is the first Battlefield game in several years, and there's a lot of hype around the new title, so I'm expecting it to be hugely popular. But BO6 is bringing one final Zombies map, Reckoning, to the table. And there's only so much time in the day to game, so a choice must be made.

CoD's season five will also be adding some new stuff to Warzone and BO6 multiplayer, so if you're a CoD fan, there's a good amount of stuff to try out. But will BF6 be taking up your time instead?

And so now, I pose the question to you, dear readers: which FPS will be taking up your weekend? Will you be dun-dun dun-dun-dun'ing it in BF6, or will you be slaying zombies in BO6 or dropping into Warzone? Let us know in the comments below, but either way, have some fun.

Bradley Barcola in EA FC 26 at the Parc de Princess

EA FC 26 beta will be out live pretty soon (on Aug. 6), as of writing, and it could be your first chance to enjoy the upcoming game and what it has to offer.

The beta is the first opportunity for a selected audience to test out the new gameplay. While there will be several changes before the full launch, the beta is always good to get a first impression. It's also available for free (although you'll have to get lucky), and the first batch of codes has started to roll out.

For starters, you'll have to sign up for the beta.

How to sign up for EA FC 26 beta?

The process of signing up for the beta is pretty much standard for any other game that EA Sports releases.

  • Log in to your EA account from the official website.
  • Click on your profile avatar (on the top part of the screen).
  • Go to Subscriptions and Memberships.
  • Activate EA Playtesting. Select EA FC 26 if that's available (if you already have activated playtesting in the past, you won't have to do it again).

Note that this doesn't automatically guarantee you'll get a code for the beta. There are additional rules that you'll have to adhere to.

  • Accept the User and EA FC 26 Beta Agreement
  • Have an active PS Plus or Xbox Live subscription, which is mandatory
  • Have an internet connection for online play
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Sign up for Community Playtesting on the EA website
  • You must have played EA FC 25 actively.

The beta is likely to be restricted to a few regions of the world, as was the case in previous years. Whether EA Sports changes the rule this year remains to be seen. The process of signing up for the beta will remain the same.

How to play EA FC 26 beta?

If your application is successful, you'll get a code in your registered email. Here's the key: the code will be bound to your registered email. The code can't be transferred to another person or used with a different email.

Any attempt to sell the code is against the terms and conditions. Make sure not to pay for a potential code, as you're very likely to get scammed. Any progress in the beta won't carry over to the final version, so don't be disheartened if you don't manage to get code.

EA FC 26 beta dates

The beta will begin worldwide on Aug. 6 at 10am PST/12pm CST/1pm EST, and ends on Aug. 26 at the same timings. Do note that codes will be sent out even after the beta goes live.

Bradley Barcola in EA FC 26 at the Parc de Princess

Everyone's favorite Ultimate Team is getting massive updates in EA FC 26, and the deep dive has shed some light on it.

If you've become bored with Ultimate Team (I know I have), hold on to your conclusions. Many new events have been revealed that will be integrated into Ultimate Team in the future. Let's look at what new stuff we can expect to see in the online game mode in EA FC 26.

All major EA FC 26 Ultimate Team features

Most of the new additions in EA FC 26 Ultimate Team are in the form of fresh game modes. However, existing modes like Champions and Division Rivals will also change. Let's start with the new modes: Live Events (Tournaments, Gauntlets, and Linked Events).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ooNXhzMBv4

Tournaments

Tournaments are back and better than before, where you get the thrill of knockout tournaments.

  • Play four rounds of thrilling PvP matches against players on the same round.
  • Themed squads.
  • Lose, and you get knocked out. Win, and you proceed to the next phase.
  • Players winning a tournament won't be able to participate in it again.
  • Phases unlock after a certain number of days.

Gauntlet

Unlike tournaments, Gauntlets emphasize using different squads and cards. Losses don't matter all that much since you'll keep playing until you finish all the rounds.

The more wins you get, the better your rewards. One thing's for sure, using different squads will really test club depth and skills.

Linked Events

Linked Events are special locked events that will be unlocked via objectives. This mode will help you qualify for unique events meant for ultimate competition. Some of the end-of-season events will be focused on community interaction.

Let's look at all the changes being made to existing modes, including Rivals Bounties, Win Streak Bonuses, and Limited Checkpoints.

Rivals Bounties

Rivals' matches will have an additional system called Bounties. It will allow you to take something back, even from a brutal loss, which will directly convert into weekly rewards. This will enable you to secure the required points faster.

Winstreak Bonuses

Rivals' games will have the usual win streaks again, allowing you to climb two stages. However, you'll also win double reward points when you secure a victory on a win streak. Your opponent will also know if you're on an active streak.

Limited Checkpoints

Remember what frustration feels like when we lose a Rivals game right when we shouldn't? Things will be slightly more relaxed in EA FC 26 when you're on Limited Checkpoints. You'll be able to lose a few games without sliding down on the ladder.

EA FC 26 Ultimate Team Champions changes

The Champions mode is the pinnacle of competitive Ultimate Team, and things won't be much different in EA FC 26. However, there are some key changes.

  • No more playoffs.
  • Two different tiers of Weekend League: Champions and Challengers.
  • Champions finals will be for the elites and those who can reach high divisions.
  • Challengers will be for those who are in the lower divisions.

There are a few more important changes being made to Ultimate Team that I love.

  • Goalkeeper evolutions are finally coming to Ultimate Team.
  • Disconnects in a draw state will result in an automatic win if your opponent left a game after a red card, conceding a goal, or more.
  • Penalties for players quitting in the Rush mode.

Marvel Tokon screenshot

For a brief 30-minute window at this year's Evo, I was able to sample a small amount of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls on PS5, the new Marvel fighting game from Arc System Works—and I was immediately hooked.

I wasn't alone, as evidenced by the long queues of people at Evo each day, trying to play a small part of the game alone or with their friends. There is hype building about this game, and PlayStation is making the most of it by teasing small parts of a larger experience.

It's hard to put into words just how good this game already looks and feels, a point the Sony PR rep next to me kept emphasizing during my play session. This build is a very early look at the game, and a lot can change. But that didn't stop me from sampling as much of it as I could.

Marvel tokon preview image
Image via Sony

First things first, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is a 4 vs. 4 tag fighting game, but despite picking four characters, you begin a match with just two and need to unlock the other characters through specific actions, or inactions. You can unlock characters by throwing or mashing an opponent to another area at the edge of the screen, or you get one when you lose a round.

Just because you have four characters doesn't mean you have to use them all, though, as the devs told us that one strategy is to learn a singular fighter and then use the others purely to support you and not bring them into the fight at all. Fighters share the same health bar, and unlocking additional Fighters gives you more health and more damage, even if by a fraction. Unlocking additional characters mid-fight also gives you more metres to use super moves or actions.

marvel token preview image
Image via Sony

As for gameplay, the game features a very simplistic approach, allowing fighters to reuse the same button combos to create chains of moves, activate supers, or trigger support actions. It really does stem back to the idea of a fighting game being easy to learn but hard to master.

You have a low, medium, and high button, which fighting game veterans should be used to, but there's also an Assemble button that is purely used for switching in characters or mixing up moves. Depending on the placement of your support character, if you do a left assemble, it brings in the character to the left, and down assemble brings in the lower character, and then you can press the assemble button again to switch to that character and continue a chain of combos to mix up your game.

Marvel Tokon preview image.
Image via Sony

It's hard not to comment on the game also looking pretty stunning, even with the current build and the six playable characters that we were able to experience during the preview, with each having their own defining properties. Fights are pretty flashy with a lot of action, especially when you make the most of the switching system and the resulting combos.

Honestly, I came out of my experience wanting to learn more and see more than the six characters we could play, because the game already feels like it has a lot of depth. I'm excited to see what both casual and professional players can do with this game when it launches in the future. I'm pretty hyped, and I hope everyone gets to experience the game soon so they can understand the hype I feel.

A player taking on a boss in Titan Quest 2

The early access build of Titan Quest 2 has some confusing missions to complete, and The Shattered God can be an easy miss if you don't know where to look.

The Shattered God quest isn't part of the main storyline, but there are some cool rewards. If you missed it on your main campaign run, you can always return to complete it later. You'll have to trigger the quest and complete all the tasks to do so.

How to start The Shattered God quest in Titan Quest 2?

You'll see a broken statue staff and an NPC named Iphitos at the marked location on the screenshot below. When you pick up the staff, it says that the item can be reconstructed with the correct parts. Interact with Iphitos to start the quest, and proceed to complete all associated tasks in Titan Quest 2.

Iphitos location

There are three parts to collect:

  • The head of the staff
  • The tail of the staff
  • The torso of the staff

You can find the parts in any order, but the tail is the first item to go.

Tail

Tail location

Go to the location marked on the map and find a broken house. You'll find the tail in front of it.

Torso

Next comes the torso, which you can obtain at the location marked on the screenshot. The easiest way to travel is to the Eterna Ruins waypoint, then south and east.

Head

To reach the location, keep traveling north from the nearest waypoint. The chest is situated in a waterlogged area.

Once you have collected all three parts, the last task is to assemble the parts and bring the pieces to the statue's base.

With all three parts, go to the marked location on the map. You'll find the statue of Glaukos at this location. Provide all the parts to complete the quest, and you'll get Attribute Points and EXP. When you complete the quest, Iphitos will appear and reveal himself behind worshipping Glaukos (that is, if you're interested in knowing more about the game's lore).

Tekken Tag Tournament 2: a black and white Jin and Heihachi stand back-to-back.

TEKKEN 8 has had a tremendous showing this past weekend at Evo, revealing the first Armor King gameplay trailer alongside a brand new trailer, with the game dripping with content just under 2 years since release.

At Evo 2025, Destructoid got a chance to sit down with members of the TEKKEN team, including Kohei Ikeda (Nakatsu), Chief Producer and Game Director of TEKKEN 8. Katsuhiro Harada, Producer and Executive Game Director on the TEKKEN Project. And Michael Murray, Producer for TEKKEN 8, and the person who kindly translated for both Nakatsu and Harada during our interview.

We had a lot to ask the team when talking to them about TEKKEN 8, but there was one topic on my mind that I felt compelled to ask. And that was the potential existence of a Tekken Tag Tournament 3 in the future, and if the team would consider making it as the next project after TEKKEN 8.

Harada (as translated by Murray) spoke candidly about the idea of making a sequel to the Tag series and commented on the abundance of tag fighters in the market right now, and why it probably doesn't make much sense to work on a direct sequel to the Tag Tournament series in the current market.

"It's quite difficult because, you know, Tag is something I've always thought of more recently, and [I feel] like it should be some kind of mode within a TEKKEN 9 or 8 or whatever you want to call it."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBjhCpvBtyk&ab_channel=BandaiNamcoEntertainmentAmerica

Upon hearing this, I asked for more clarification on what he meant, asking if, instead of making a Tekken Tag Tournament 3, making it a mode within the mainline TEKKEN games. Murray, translating for Harada again, said about how tag fighters are popular right now, but "if we start now [to make a Tekken Tag Tournament 3] by the time that they're no longer popular, that's when Tag Three would come out" if they hypothetically made the game.

"We have so many more moves than a typical 2D fighter. So much more work is involved in trying to do that with a 3D game...It's probably a ways off if it were to happen, and so probably not in my working lifetime. So that's something that the next generation can decide."

Of course, ending the interview, I wouldn't be satisfied if I didn't ask Harada about TEKKEN X Street Fighter and keep the question tradition alive. So, of course, I asked him, and was surprised to get an answer from Harada about the game.

"It's hard to say if that's even a thing. I mean, it depends on what people are wanting as well. That said, I would like to show people what we already have. That would be cool if we could do that. We were 30 percent into development, so fingers crossed."

The post Harada feels like making Tekken Tag Tournament 3 wouldn't make much sense and that TEKKEN needs a tag mode instead appeared first on Destructoid.

PEAK Bing Bong plushie

Every time a popular game comes out, the hounds are let loose. Copies upon copies start cropping up everywhere and, specifically, appear on Roblox. PEAK, an indie hit, has also been copied on Roblox, and the developers would rather you pirated the original than play the "slop" copy.

The Roblox copy of PEAK, creatively named CLIFF, has cropped up following the indie's massive success and blatantly regurgitates much of the original game. It's also seemingly gotten pretty big on the platform, with PEAK's developers themselves catching wind of its existence. They then issued a kind comment regarding the "game," saying they'd prefer you pirated PEAK to playing this "slop."

"Tbh would rather you pirate our game than play this microtransaction-riddled Roblox slop rip-off," the developers stated on their official X account.

https://twitter.com/AggroCrabGames/status/1952475157433549083

CLIFF, as per the dev's shared screenshot, has already garnered some 160,000 visits, and, with so many microtransactions crammed into it, it's also likely made some good money since PEAK exploded.

This is just one in the sea of blatant copies of original popular games, which are often quickly patched together, released on platforms like Roblox or even the PlayStation Store, all with the goal of making money from the unassuming player.

The player in question is either a kid (as is the case with most Roblox players) or just someone who couldn't afford the original premium product and settled for a free-to-play rip-off on alternative platforms.

And it's getting so bad that you can log into the PS Store right now and be met with countless AI-generated copies of popular titles (or even memes, like those Italian brainrot caricatures), all sold for a buck a pop and probably packed with microtransactions.

So, take the advice of PEAK's devs and avoid this slop. Play real friendslop instead.

A mandalorian standing in front of a tentacle in fortnite

A massive kraken nearly destroyed the island in Fortnite, but luckily, the Supernova Squad and Superman himself arrived to stop it. Following this event, there's a massive tentacle that was left behind, which you need to investigate.

This quest doesn't give you any guidance for where to look or how to get it done, so it can be a tricky one to work through. If this task has you stumped, here's how to investigate the tentacle in Fortnite.

Where is the tentacle in Fortnite?

Tentacle location marked on map at demon's domain in fortnite
Screenshot by Destructoid

There's only one tentacle on the island, and it can be found near the east end of Demon's Domain. This tentacle was left here after the massive Super Showdown live event, where Daigo summoned a kraken creature. Superman decimated the creature, but one massive tentacle from it still remains on the island.

Demon's Domain is a pretty large area, so unless you spot the tentacle from the sky while flying down to the island, it can be decently tough to find. It's also purple, which is the same color as the surrounding area.

To find the tentacle, venture to Demon's Domain and make your way east. Head to the small cliff south of the clear lake, right near where the waterfall is pouring into the corrupted, murky waters surrounding the area.

The tentacle is right by the very edge of this POI, so if you're mainly focused on exploring this region, you likely won't find it on your own, as the many jagged cliffs and buildings around the area obscure it from view. You need to purposefully venture to the very end of the region to come across it. Luckily, it's quite large, so once you're within range to spot it, you won't miss it.

Investigate the tentacle in Fortnite

A mandalorian running on a tentacle in fortnite
Screenshot by Destructoid

To investigate the tentacle, you need to approach the massive severed kraken tentacle near the east end of Demon's Domain. As soon as you get close to it, this quest will auto-complete, and you can then move on to tackling other tasks.

For most quests that ask you to investigate something, you have to put in a bit more work after finding the item you need to examine. This one is fairly straightforward once you know where to look, though, so as long as you find the right spot, you're good to go.

The tentacle has started rotting, and some mysterious craters have popped up around it, which are likely tied to the next era. Various new bug creatures have been teased on official Fortnite accounts, so these craters might release new hostile bugs around the island, leading into the main theme of next season.

The next season will arrive quite soon, so before this one ends, make sure you've tackled everything you wish to get done. You may want to learn what happened to Daigo after the live event, complete all Summer Road Trip event quests, hit Spires in different matches, and consume different food or drink items at BURD To Go gas stations.
