Many of today's game designers have, like me, grown up with Japanese Y2K style - the style of the late 90s and early 2000s that gave us not only fear of the end of the world due to a calendar change, but also the WipEout series, futuristic PlayStation 2 ads, and fashion that incorporated everything from glitter to holographic fabrics and cute crop tops.

In a media landscape that seldom shies away from homages and sequels, I've waited a long time for the influence of childhood favourites such as Dance Dance Revolution and Space Channel 5 to pop back up. After all, plenty of Western developers have taken inspiration from Japanese role-playing games, giving us Sea of Stars, Undertale and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, to name a few. Recently, I found some really cool games by Western developers that are living the Y2K dream with me, so it was time to dive into their inspirations and compare some childhood anime with some nerds.

Saturdays are for… drat, look at the time! I shouldn't be writing an article. I should be loading boxes into vans. Frantically disassembling furniture. And stopping the friends who are 'helping' me move house from pausing to sip cups of tea. It's like they don't know how long I spent on the phone to the council booking parking permits. No, I couldn't possibly tell you. Well, twist my arm. 45 minutes.

So, if you're curled up in bed having a relaxing morning, I envy you. But know that I'm in that blessed window where I can 'accidentally' lose all the personalised mugs and t-shirts I've been given as presents over the years. You know, the ones the gift giver is always asking after or expecting to be on display. This is a window that only opens once every few years, and with both hands I'm throwing 'Boyz on tour mugs' out of it.

Cucurella TOTY HM in FC 26

The Marc Cucurella TOTY HM and Football Fanatics objective went live on Jan. 16 in FC 26, and the two sets can take a significant amount of time to complete.

However, both objective sets offer excellent rewards that can provide you with a TOTY or two. At worst, you'll get plenty of high-rated fodder to complete the valuable SBCs currently live in Ultimate Team. Let's look at how you can combine all the tasks and finish both sets in the quickest possible time.

Best Football Fanatics and Cucurella HM objective squad in FC 26

Both the Football Fanatics Week 1 and Marc Cucurella TOTY HM objectives require you to use cards from specific nations and complete certain tasks. Here's a quick rundown before we look into the squad.

  • Score 12 goals with a Premier League player
  • Win 20 games
  • Score in 25 matches with a player having 4* Weak Foot or better.
  • Assist in 15 matches with a Spanish player
  • Score in 15 matches with a French player
  • Assist with a cross in seven matches with a Portuguese player
  • Score a goal with a Finesse Shot in five matches with a Norwegian player

There are a few additional minor tasks as well, but the ones mentioned above are the harder ones. Let's take a look at the optimum squad combination.

  • One Norwegian player
  • One Polish player (for seven games)
  • One Portuguese player
  • One French player
  • Four Spanish players
  • One Liga F player
  • One Ligue 1 player
  • One Premier League player

This squad combination will eventually help you to fast-track the completion process. You can complete the tasks in different Ultimate Team modes. My favorite is the Season 4 Cup, as there's a Golden Goal rule. The rule will help you finish the objectives more quickly.

However, you can only play the Season 4 Gold Cup a set number of times daily. If you don't want to wait, you can try your luck with Squad Battles. Make sure the difficulty of the games is above Semi-Pro, and you should be completing both objectives in no time.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons kept us invested for many many hours

Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 has added plenty of new features for the community to enjoy, and one of them, interestingly, involves playing six Nintendo Classics.

Yes, all six games are completely playable, but gaining access will undoubtedly take some level of grinding. Let's look at all the options along with how you can play them.

How to play all Classic Nintendo games in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0

As I mentioned above, there's a bit of grind if you're willing to unlock all six classics. Each Nintendo Classic comes from a different console system, and you'll require Hotel Tickets.

  • Go to the pier, and enter the new hotel added as part of the update. If you're yet to find the hotel, you simply have to progress further. Once you reach the hotel, you'll have to decorate the room.
  • There are two rooms available at first. Complete them, and you'll have two more the next day. Repeat the process until you've finished furnishing eight rooms.

  • Return to the pier and speak with Kapp'n. He will mention DIY items for taking them to other islands. Open the container next to him, and there will be a bunch of recipes.
  • Craft the recipes on a workbench or the cooking area (depends on the recipe) and focus on items available in the Recommended tab.

  • When you complete the recipes, Kapp'n will reward you with Hotel Tickets. While the amount (of 100) might seem like a lot at first, you'll actually need 3000 if you want to gain access to all six Classics.
  • You can also earn more Hotel Tickets by completing the Nook Miles achievements.
  • Go to the Gram's Souvenir Shop and speak with the old lady, who will say something about rare items that her son found.
  • Choose the Special tab, and you'll find the classic game consoles for sale. For this guide, I am solely referring to the consoles that are interactable.

For the process, you must have completed adding an Art Wing to your Museum. You can also donate items to Kapp'n to raise your hotel's Brand Recognition, which helps to unlock the consoles in the first place. To get access to the Special tab, you must earn 5,000 or more Hotel Tickets.

All Nintendo Classics in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0

There are six retro consoles you can purchase and play in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0. Each console has one game that you can play.

  • Dr Mario (Game Boy)
  • Ice Climber (NES)
  • F-Zero (SNES)
  • Ice Hockey (Famicom Disk System)
  • Clu Clu Land (Famicom)
  • Panel de Pon (Super Famicom)
