Details about the events at the 2025 Tokyo Indie Games Summit being held March 8-9, 2025 came up, and it includes a competition between Nijisanji Vtubers and presentations from Japanese companies like Bandai Namco and Cygames. Streams from the event will be held online on YouTube, for those unable to be in Japan in Kichijoji, Musashino City.
Exact details about who will appear on each day and at each time aren't available yet. However, we'll hear from publishers on March 8, 2025. That is the Indie Game Journal event on-stage.
On March 9, 2025, a few more events will take place. One is a continuing Indie Game Journal Part 2 showcase. That will feature more of the Tokyo Indie Games Summit 2025 titles from Japanese and global developers. That's also the day when those able to attend can go through a Jelly Troops tournament. As for the Nijisanji Vtubers tournament, that will involve Blazing Sails and take part that day.
For those who can't be there in person, plenty of stage events and presentations will be shared online after the fact. For example, in 2024 there were separate streams for both day one and day two.
As a reminder, here are some of the more notable games that will be at the event. All confirmed titles are also on the official site. Many are confirmed for a worldwide release.
Tokyo Indie Games Summit is running March 8-9, 2025, and it is happening in-person in Musashino City, Japan. The official site is open now. As a reminder, the first day is the "business day" portion of the event, while the second is open to the public.

Hyte has opened up its pre-orders for a keycap set of the 4th generation of hololive VTubers. It costs $99.99 and will ship out in June 2025. As a reminder, Hyte now has international shipping.

The keycaps star Amane Kanata, Tsunomaki Watame, Tokoyami Towa, and Himemori Luna. While Kiryu Coco was also part of the fourth generation, she graduated in 2019. The keycaps in question use the girls' color schemes—blue, yellow, purple, and pink—in a gradient effect on half the keys and most of the Numpad. The rest of the keycaps are white. The accent keys feature iconography associated with each talent, such as Amane's wings and a sheep for Watame. You can also see the silhouette of all four members on the spacebar.
This is not the first time Hyte released hololive-themed keycaps. In 2024, ahead of hololive 5th Fes, it released a Hololive Gamers Capture the Moment set. This one represented Inugami Korone, Nekomata Okayu, Ookami Mio, and Shirakami Fubuki (as they're all in the Hololive Gamers sub-unit). Like the 4th generation keycaps open for pre-order now, this one featured a combination of pastel colors and white. The keycaps also feature hiragana, much like the Silver Wolf set also from Hyte.
The hololive 4th generation keycaps are available for a limited time at Hyte. You can use them on all sorts of formats and keyboard layouts.

Massive Monster, the devs of Cult of the Lamb, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that it plans to donate $1000 every month of 2025 to a different charity. This month, it'll donate to Doctors Without Borders.
The Tweet starts by calling out Elon Musk and the Twitter Gold program, which costs about $12,000 a year. Instead of getting a Twitter Gold check mark, it decided to donate that $12,000 to twelve different charities in 2025. The post also includes a picture of the lamb holding up a Twitter Gold check mark while a creature with a crown lays dead underneath a pile of gold. The room full of coins also features misshapen crying monsters.
Replies to the announcement have been positive, with many users saying that Massive Monster was "based" for this decision. Some users have also suggested future charities to donate to, such as The Trevor Project or Planned Parenthood. In the replies, Massive Monster included a direct link to Doctors Without Borders for those who want to make their own donation. It also suggested in another reply that organizations considering renewing their gold check mark may want to put that money to better use and donate to charity instead.
Prior to Elon Musk's controversial buyout of Twitter back in 2022, check marks proved that a notable entity or organization was the real deal. For example, if an account proclaiming themself Taylor Swift had a blue check mark, it was because Twitter confirmed that the account really belonged to Taylor. Nowadays, accounts can get a check mark if they subscribe to Twitter Blue (though they can no longer impersonate an entity).
Cult of the Lamb is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, and macOS.

The AnimeJapan 2025 website is running a new poll on the top manga series that the public wants to see turned into an anime adaptation. The ranking is currently public, but the places of the series are subject to change as people keep voting until the February 12, 2025 deadline.
Anyone is able to vote in the AnimeJapan 2025 anime adaptation poll. However, the voting form is only available in Japanese, and each person is limited to one single vote. The ranking currently shows the top 47 most wanted anime adaptations, and each manga series offers a reading sample only available in Japanese. It's important to note that manga titles appearing on the AnimeJapan yearly poll doesn't guarantee them receiving an adaptation.
At the time of writing, these are the manga series in the top 20 of the AnimeJapan 2025 anime adaptation ranking:
The results of the poll will be announced sometime around mid-March 2025 alongside an award ceremony. Additionally, an exhibit of the top 10 manga titles will be available on March 22-23, 2025 at the AnimaJapan 2025 venue.

Penda Beats, a new rhythm game potentially similar to Taiko no Tatsujin, will begin its location tests at Namco Ikebukuro from January 31, 2025. There's not a lot of information on the game yet, though pictures from users show how the machines in question look. [Thanks, Taiko Time!]
Users NightCherry4241 and MMedaru13200, among others, have posted pictures of the Penda Beats arcade cabinet on their X (formerly Twitter) accounts. At the top of the machine, we can see the game's logo, as well as the characters drawn in a cute art style. They're all holding light sticks, and similar light sticks appear in the console area, complete with cords attaching them to prevent theft. It appears that Penda Beats will be a rhythm game in which you wave the light sticks like wotagei.
According to the automated trademark bot, Bandai Namco filed for a Penda Beats trademark back on December 18, 2024. It listed it as a storage medium for a commercial video game program and electronic circuits, as well as a commercial game machine. It filed a trademark for the logo on the same day, though under a different application.
The Penda Beats location test will begin at Namco Ikebukuro from January 31, 2025, and so we'll get more information on the gameplay and such then.

Parco will open up a new Death Note pop-up store featuring Misa Amane, one of the main characters of the popular anime and manga series. It'll be available from February 7, 2025.
The Death Note pop-up store will visit two cities in Japan for a few weeks each. You can catch the one in Nagoya's Parco from February 7 to 24, 2025. However, it will not be open on February 13, 2025. Afterwards, the pop-up shop will appear in Ikebukuro from March 19 to 30, 2025.
For transactions exceeding 3,300 JPY, you can receive an original shopping bag that has the pop-up store's original design on it. It features a blindfolded Misa with her hands clasped together in a panel that looks like a coffin. Around her are panels of her scenes in the manga. While you can buy small goods like keychains, pins, and cards of other characters, most of the major goods like tote bags and T-shirts prominently feature Misa. Prices range between 550 JPY for a pin to 16,500 JPY for a coach jacket.
Death Note is readily available on streaming services like Netflix and Crunchyroll. Viz Media licensed the manga for an English audience.

Nintendo announced that the Japan regional version of the Nintendo eShop and the My Nintendo Store will stop accepting overseas payment methods, such as credit and debit cards issued outside of Japan or PayPal accounts created in countries other than Japan. The changes to the payment method options will go in effect on March 25, 2025.
The upcoming changes to the payment options for the Japan Nintendo eShop and the My Nintendo Store mean that the only ways to purchase software and goods from the respective storefronts will be via using credit or debit cards issued in Japan, a Japanese PayPal account, as well as by purchasing Japanese prepaid Nintendo eShop gift cards to redeem on a Japanese Nintendo Account. Nintendo made this change in order to prevent fraudulent use of the eShop and My Nintendo Store services in Japan.
In other related news, Nintendo recently announced that the company will no longer broadcast commercials on the Japanese Fuji TV channel. Similarly, Nintendo removed the X (formerly known as Twitter) integration function from the Nintendo Switch console on June 10, 2024.
The Japanese Nintendo eShop and My Nintendo Store will stop accepting overseas credit cards and PayPal accounts created outside of Japan from March 25, 2025.

Capcom will have a special exhibit in the Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka, Japan. The Capcom exhibition will include exclusive merchandise and a special audio guide featuring Toshiyuki Morikawa, the voice act of Dante from the Devil May Cry series, and Leon S. Kennedy from the Resident Evil series. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
Morikawa will guide attendees through various exhibits featuring the development and creation of various Capcom series. Alongside this, attendees will be able to see how motion capture works and test it out themselves, at least to a fairly simple degree.

As mentioned above, the exhibition will feature a plethora of exclusive merchandise. This will include merchandise for various series such as Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, Ace Attorney, Resident Evil, and Mega Man. Consumers can buy acrylic standees, keychains, mugs, and pins. There is also an exclusive exhibit t-shirt that you can purchase. However, these items are limited to Japan and if you're out if Japan you may need to use a middle-man service to obtain them.
The Capcom Exhibition at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka, Japan, which features an audio guide by Toshiyuki Morikawa, will be held from March 20 to June 22, 2025.

Square Enix confirmed that a Final Fantasy VII Rebirth crossover would come back to FFVII Ever Crisis alongside the PC port's debut, and now the Loveless Aerith gear and weapon inspired by her costume from the game are here. As a reminder, these items are based on her performance at the Gold Saucer. We can pull for them via the gacha until February 26, 2025.
The new banner features three items. One weapon is the Gambanteinn staff for Aerith based on the play. The other is the Barret Missing Score Ultimate weapon. Finally, you can dress Aerith in the Loveless Songstress dress in FFVII Ever Crisis.
The Gambanteinn is designed to help Aerith support and buff the party better. Its C Ability is Paeon, which heals the whole party and buffs their physical attack. It also will increase the ATB gauge for everyone except her by one when used, provided her health is low enough. Its R Abilities are Boost HEAL, to increase healing potency, and Buff/Debuff Extension to make her Paeon physical attack buff last longer.
As for the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Loveless Songstress gear, this Aerith costume is designed to help with her healing and buffing in FFVII Ever Crisis. The one R Ability is ATB Boost, which increases it by a certain amount when a battle starts depending on the level, so she can use skills faster. Meanwhile, the Soothing Song one increases buff and debuff effect duration while also offering a boost to healing potency.
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is available on PCs and mobile devices. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is available on the PS5 and PC. The FFVII Loveless crossover between the two is live now, with the Aerith gear and weapon banner in-game until February 26, 2025.

Bandai Namco announced that the Mobile Suit from Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX will appear as part of a free update in Gundam Breaker 4. The Mobile Suit from Gundam: Requiem of Vengeance is also included through this update as well. Information as to when this update will appear will be released in the future.
Both Mobile Suits will be added into Gundam Breaker 4 as Gunpla for free, which means consumers can get the GQuuuuuuX once the update goes live without spending a dime.
In September 2024, Bandai Namco rolled out another update to Gundam Breaker 4 to add the Gundam Calibarn, from The Witch from Mercury, and the Gundam Mighty Strike Freedom from Seed Freedom entirely for free. Two versions of the Gundam Calibarn were included in this update.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX was announced in December 2024. Studio Khara and Sunrise are behind this new Gundam series that takes place in an alternate timeline. Hideaki Anno is working on storyboards for the new series.
While the series isn't out in full, the Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- grossed over $3.8 million within it's first three days of release in Japan. The trailer for Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- featured iconic Mobile Suit Gundam character Char Aznable.
