PCGamesN Sunday, June 5, 2022 1:12 PM  There are many fantastic Elden Ring mods on PC that can add really useful tweaks and features, like randomised enemy encounters for new challenges or seamless co-op multiplayer. This Elden Ring mod, on the other hand, adds a giant Binley Mega Chippy for you to fight. YouTuber ToastedShoes does a lot of mod-related videos, including a whole series titled 'Elden Ring but ruined by mods' - the most recent of which includes boss battles against Bowser and a buff Toad, a quest for Amy Rose, and Big Bird proving to be more terrifying than the dragon he's replacing. ToastedShoes posted their latest discovery on Reddit, which is an impressive Elden Ring mod that replaces the towering Walking Mausoleums with, well, beloved TikTok and meme star the Binley Mega Chippy. So it's essentially a Walking Chippy instead. As usual, if you want to visit this respectable eating establishment, you'll have to take out the legs first so it crashes to the ground. PCGamesN Sunday, June 5, 2022 12:06 PM  At the end of May, a Marvel MMO from the team behind the similar online superhero game DC Universe Online was cancelled a year after being announced - which seems to have set off an exodus in developer Dimension Ink and Daybreak Games, including DC Universe Online lead dev Jack Emmert. Jack Emmert was previously director of superhero MMORPG games City of Heroes and City of Villains and co-founder of developer Cryptic Studios, before becoming director of both DC Universe Online and the Marvel MMO and CEO of Dimensional Ink Games. Emmert has been trying to get a 'Marvel Universe Online' MMO out since 2006. Following the cancellation of the Marvel MMO at Dimensional Ink, Jack Emmert has left the studio entirely and joined NetEase's Jackalope Games. Unfortunately, he is not the only high-profile developer to have left Dimensional Ink in the last month. Lead content designer Rob 'Charon' Frazier apparently left on June 3, amongst a number of other recent departures that has fans concerned about the quality of DC Universe Online going forward. |
PCGamesN Sunday, June 5, 2022 7:06 PM  There are Doom ports to everything under the sun, from Game & Watch to Minecraft to a digital camera, so being able to run the classic FPS game on a regular PC isn't that impressive - but it is if you've barely turned it on. The latest Doom port allows you to run it directly from a PC BIOS firmware, making Doom more important than Windows. Doom is one of the most famous all-time classic old PC games and it's still perfectly playable today, but for some reason, the entire world is obsessed with bringing it to as many platforms as possible - from tiny PCs to a SEGA Genesis to a restaurant. And now, it's playable as part of a system BIOS. Coreboot is an open-source BIOS system firmware, and update 4.17 is out today (via Toms Hardware). It supports a load of new motherboards, a new bootloader, and, yes, Doom. Users can create 'payloads' to add ROM code to Coreboot, including some basic games that load up in the linear frame-buffer - and now, someone's made Doom for it. Hunter x Hunter clothing and goods will be available via Avail from June 11, 2022 in Japan. The Shimamura online store, which sells these items, does not offer international shipping. Those who wish to purchase these Hunter x Hunter goods will need to do so through a proxy service. [Thanks, Famitsu!] Various images from the series appear on the items. For example, there are T-shirts of the main characters, as well as pouches with the Hunter Association logo on them. Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island, the latest film adaptation of the franchise, has grossed approximately $2.29 million in ticket sales in its first two days. The film debuted in Japanese theaters on June 3, 2022. Since its release, over 150,000 people have reportedly visited the cinema to see the movie. The movie is a film adaptation of an episode from the original 1979 anime series. The episode, Cucuruz Doan's Island, is infamous among fans for its poor animation quality and notoriously bad storyline. Gundam series animator and director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko later revealed that the episode was entirely outsourced to another studio. In spite of the episode's poor reputation, Sunrise announced that it was working on a film adaptation in September 2021. https://twitter.com/g_cucuruzdoan/status/1533282989827760129 According to the film's Twitter account, Cucuruz Doan's Island sales reached approximately ¥300 million, or approximately $2.29 million, in its first two days. Yasuhiko has even commented that their "next target is Top Gun: Maverick," another popular newly-released film. In addition to Cucuruz Doan's Island, Sunrise plans to air a new anime series titled The Witch From Mercury in October 2022. We've seen horror takes on the magical girl concept before. Puella Magi Madoka Magica and its offshoots are good examples. Now Ghost Reaper Girl, a Shonen Jump manga from Rosario + Vampire creator Akihisa Ikeda under the name Akissa Saiké, feels like a similar sort of exploration of the concept. Except this time, the contract involves ghosts and acquiring powers is tied to possession. Ghost Reaper Girl's name comes from a campy, low-budget, in-game show. Chloe Love is a woman who grew up starving and desperate. Her dream has always been to lead a "shining life." In an attempt to do so, she's been trying to make her way as an actress. It isn't going well. Aside from the one horror show, she's only had bit parts. However, while at an interview for a new role, she discovers another talent. Her body is apparently a perfect fit to be possessed by any spirit. The innate power of her soul makes her incredibly appealing to all ghosts as a result.
This is when Ghost Reaper Girl gets interesting. Chloe's master and servant relationship with Kai results in a magical girl-like transformation. Her appearance changes. She gets a new outfit. Her abilities are enhanced. Kai even becomes both a weapon and a mascot character. He turns into the scythe she wields. (He even gets comically large eyes and a smile.) Chloe does good in this form! She sends spirits back to Hades! Kai says she could even become famous and rich! What makes it stand out is that Ghost Reaper Girl doesn't shy away from horror. In its first chapters, we see all sorts of body horror. The spirits possessing people manifest from their mouths in terrifying ways. We also see them attempt to take Chloe's body by force. When she encounters another hostile spirit, the person doesn't hesitate to get violent with Chloe and Kai. Attacks involve ripping into people and actual damage. It even feels like death is a possible consequence for folks. It all ties together very well in the first volume of Ghost Reaper Girl. Chloe is an established woman accustomed to survival. We get to see an unusual means of power acquisition, one which normally goes in different directions in horror stories. It doesn't shy away from violence. But there is still the sense of levity that comes from a sort of "monster of the week" formula that's teased a bit in its initial chapters. I feel like there's a lot of potential for it to go some interesting places. The first volume of Ghost Reaper Girl volume 1 will be available in English from Viz Media on June 7, 2022. Bandai Spirits posted a picture of what its A Prize figure in the Spy x Family Ichiban Kuji will look like. It will be available from early October 2022. The full title of this collection is "Ichiban Kuji Spy x Family Lovely Ordinary Days." While there is a list of what items to expect from this Ichiban Kuji, we only know what the A Prize will look like. It will cost 700 JPY (around $5.35) per attempt. Bandai will likely slowly reveal the different prizes on its Twitter account. Like most Ichiban Kuji lotteries, the Spy x Family Lovely Ordinary Days collection will have prizes A to H, as well as a Last One Prize and a Double Chance Campaign. Persona really paved the way for the dating-sim-slash-RPG subgenre, combining anime action with sacrilegious activities like hand-holding. It seems like one of those games pops up every so often now.
