You've checked your approach speed, you've factored in crosswinds, you know the runway's a short one - but have you made sure it's clear of dinosaurs? It's a problem you may soon be facing in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, because an officially licensed Jurassic World add-on has been announced for the game. Letting you explore several iconic islands, embark on themed missions, and even spot some dinos out the cockpit window, it's aiming to launch in just a few weeks' time.

It's been a particularly tricky few days for Dead By Daylight - a game that is, admittedly, no stranger to bumps in the road. A couple of buggy patches and problematic perks, and criticism of Behaviour Interactive's Kill Switch system, has seen community sentiment sour despite the recent release of its The Walking Dead crossover. Now, Behaviour has issued a statement apologizing to DBD fans for the recent issues and promising a review and overhaul of the Kill Switch.

I've heard a lot of good things about Stormgate, despite its rocky start in early access. The free-to-play RTS not only comes from a studio helmed by ex-Starcraft devs, but it has a science fantasy universe and worldbuilding assisted by Blizzard legend Chris Metzen, as well as some sick looking graphics. I'm usually the kind of person who waits for a game to leave early access before I take the plunge, so luckily for me, Stormgate is hitting 1.0 today. Even better, you can play its much-anticipated debut campaign right now.

sonic the hedgehog timberland

Sega and Timberland have announced the first ever collaboration between the shoe company and Sonic the Hedgehog. This is to commemorate the opening of Sega Store Tokyo.

From August 9, 2025, boots and t-shirts featuring Sonic the Hedgehog will be exclusively available at the Timberland Shibuya Parco store. If you purchase them, you'll also receive a novelty postcard and some stickers. The boots cost 38,500 JPY ($260.90), and feature Sonic on the ankle portion and blue laces. This is an extremely limited run, with only thirty pairs available. You will not be able to put in pre-orders, and each customer can only buy a single pair.

As for the shirts, you can buy long-sleeved or short-sleeved. The long-sleeved shirts cost 14,300 JPY ($96.60) while the short-sleeved shirts cost 11,000 JPY ($74.55). Timberland is only offering 50 of each design. Like with the shoes, customers can only buy one of each, and you can't put in pre-orders. However, you're allowed to purchase one long-sleeved shirt and one short-sleeved shirt, if you want.

The Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration items will come out at the Timberland Shibuya Parco store in Japan from August 9, 2025. Other recent collaborations Sega has had for Sonic the Hedgehog include a line of DC Comics action figures that will come out in October 2025.

Yotsuba&! Yotsuba Koiwai Nendoroid Returns in 2026

Back in 2019, a Yotsuba&! Nendoroid of Yotsuba Koiwai appeared, and now the figure of the manga character will finally be back in 2026. She'll return in Japan in February 2026, then later launch again in Q3 2026 worldwide. She'll cost ¥5,500/$36.99. While it is still possible to find the original at some stores online, she's far more expensive than expected due to being out of print.

Yotsuba is a bit unusual for one of these types of figures. That's because she has five face plates with her. They show her when she's happy, staring blankly, shouting, crying, or extremely joyful. She has her teddy bear Juralumin (Julietta) with her, which has its own stand or can be held by the figure. She also comes with a paintbrush and can of paint. Basically, it's everything she came with before.

Here are some of the example photos.

This isn't the only Yotsuba Koiwai Nendoroid out there, as Good Smile Company released a variant in 2023. She appeared in a winter coat for that figure. The Juralumin bear that came with that one was dressed to match her.

2026 marks another notable occasion for Yotsuba&!. Another volume of the manga in which Yotsuba Koiwai, her dad, and her neighbors' daily lives are on display will debut early next year in English. Yen Press confirmed it will launch volume 16 on January 20, 2026. This comes years after volume 15 debuted in September 2021.

The Yotsuba Koiwai Nendoroid will show up in Japan again in February 2026, then release worldwide in Q3 2026. Pre-orders close on September 17, 2025.

Sanrio Switch 2 Cases Feature Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll

Sanrio announced a new Allone collection of separate clear cases for the Nintendo Switch 2, with Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and Cinnamoroll among the featured mascot characters on them. There will be six styles total. They'll debut in Japan on August 8, 2025, and each one is 2,530円 (~$17). While there's no US release date for them, we have seen past Allone Sanrio cases for older Nintendo models appear on storefronts like Amazon.

Each of the clear cases are designed to snap around both the consoles and the Joy-Con 2 controllers. There is a gap in the back of the case designed to hold the console so the stand can still be extended. With the Joy-Con 2, there are holes for the controller buttons to go through. While mascots like Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, My Melody, Pochacco, or Pompompurin are the focus on each Switch 2 case, other characters appear alongside them in some cases. Baku is on the back of the Kuromi case with her. Flat is holding hands with My Melody for that one. Cinnamoroll stands next to Milk. Finally, Pompompurin's best friend Muffin the hamster is present on that accessory.

Here's how all six designs look, as well as what the packages for them look like. We only see how each one looks from the back.

While we don't know if these will show up in the US, Hello Kitty TMNT Happy Meal toys will show up at McDonald's.

The Allone Sanrio Switch 2 cases with Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, My Melody, Pochacco, or Pompompurin on them will debut in Japan on August 8, 2025. It's unknown if we could end up seeing the accessories worldwide.

Destiny 2's new Portal activities are peppered with modifiers. Some make your runs easier, while others set out to keep your sorties more challenging. Trade-off modifiers are somewhere in the middle, sometimes offering you benefits and downsides at the same time.

Trade-off modifiers have different effects, but they increase the challenge rating of an activity and raise your enemies' power by 10. If you need a bump to your rewards and don't mind some of the downsides, throw a trade-off modifier in the mix. They're also required to advance past Guardian Rank Six.

Not all modifiers are made equal, though. Volatile Shields can be fairly easy with good teammates or healing-based builds, but Low Gravity was so loathed that Bungie disabled it for playlists with random modifiers.

Here's how you can use trade-off modifiers in Destiny 2 and complete the Guardian Rank Six objective.

What is a Trade-Off Modifier in Destiny 2?

These types of obstacles are found in multiple Portal activities, though their availability can vary. Here are the trade-off modifiers we've seen so far:

  • Low Gravity: Gravity isn't as strong, so you, enemies, and pickups float in the air for longer. Yes, this includes ammo bricks, orbs of power, and Engrams, but admittedly, it's fun to watch Cabal Centurions hovering around. Only available in custom matches in Master and above.
  • Volatile Shields: Your shields are stronger, but when they're broken, you start a detonation sequence. Teammates must defuse you before you explode. Healing yourself also cancels this effect. Not available in custom Solo Ops.
  • Lightning Crystals: Arc and Stasis abilities have improved regen, but you take more damage from these two elements. Not selectable.
  • Oscillation: Dealing damage with your kinetic and heavy weapons charges up your energy weapons and vice-versa. Freely available to pick on Normal and Advanced difficulties.

You can add some trade-off modifiers to custom activities in the Portal, though your options vary depending on difficulty. Some may only be available in matchmade activities like Fireteam Ops and Pinnacle Ops.

You can also run a matchmade activity with preset modifiers, such as Volatile Shields and Lightning Crystals. For instance, we completed our Guardian Rank Six challenge by doing a Master matchmade Devil's Lair with the Volatile Shields modifier active.

The Guardian Rank Six challenge specifies you must complete it on Master difficulty or higher, so clears in Expert or below may not count for it. Regardless, the process is still the same: apply a modifier through the Customize tab or run an activity that already has one in place. If the challenge doesn't advance, try doing it on Master or using a different modifier.

The Yeartide Apex tex Mechanica SMG with a Holofoil glow.

Yeartide Apex is one of Destiny 2's newer Solstice weapons, and it's getting here with a bang. This SMG has a ton of good options in stock for its god roll, including a formerly exclusive raid perk.

If you couldn't get a good No Survivors in Rite of the Nine, you just found a replacement. And even if you did get a god roll of it, Yeartide Apex might just bury it in your vault. This Legendary Tex Mechanica SMG feels amazing to shoot, and it has enough good options that you might want to keep more than one in your arsenal just in case.

Here are our god rolls for Yeartide Apex in Destiny 2.

  • Barrel: Polygonal Rifling, Smallbore
  • Mag: High-Caliber Rounds
  • First perk: Heal Clip, Demolitionist, or Attrition Orbs
  • Second perk: Chaos Reshaped, Incandescent, or Burning Ambition

Yeartide Apex's perk pool alone is good enough for me to consider dismantling all my No Survivors from Rite of the Nine. It brings a few deadly contenders, including Chaos Reshaped, formerly exclusive to Salvation's Edge weapons.

There are three big hitters in the third column. Heal Clip is a staple of Solar builds, perfect for when you need some extra healing and/or if you want to activate Ember of Benevolence. Demolitionist is free grenade energy on a kill and has been a common sight in grenade-based builds for a while. Attrition Orbs has its place, especially after Edge of Fate buffed it in SMGs. The choice here depends on your build, but the three general-use perks work well in most scenarios.

For the fourth column, Chaos Reshaped is powerful enough in both the damage and healing departments. It'll take you a few seconds of uninterrupted combat to feel its effects, but you'll get a damage buff at one stack, plus a bigger increase in damage and periodic healing pulses at two stacks. Heal Clip and Chaos Reshaped together might be overkill depending on your builds, though that combination provides excellent sustain.

If you're looking to scorch enemies, both Burning Ambition and Incandescent are suitable options. The former has the advantage of scorching on hit, while the latter is more suited to lower-end activities where you can get kills more easily. Burning Ambition plus Hellion synergize well with the Scorch from each feeding into each other for easier ignitions.

  • Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Mag: Ricochet Rounds, Armor-Piercing Rounds, or High-Caliber Rounds
  • First perk: Lone Wolf or Transcendent Moment
  • Second perk: Target Lock
  • Honorable Mentions: Harmony, Binary Orbit

For PvP, aim for Lone Wolf as your first perk to get you a bump in aim assist, which gets bigger if no allies are nearby. Pair it with Target Lock for a damage buff with an on-hit trigger. If you're using other weapons often, you can get great value out of Binary Orbit or Harmony as well. We aimed for a little extra range with our weapon parts, trying to squeeze any improvements to this weapon's engagement range.

Yeartide Apex is only available during the Solstice. During the event, look for Portal activities with a Distorted Solstice Engram as a reward, since they can drop both weapons and armor. These drops hinge on your reward level, difficulty, and Guardian Rank. The event's reward shop also has Yeartide Apex for sale using Event Tokens.
