     Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 guide

Now that it's been over two years since the mighty RTX 4090 set a new standard for high-end gaming GPUs, we expect the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 to arrive soon, and unseat it as the fastest graphics card you can buy. As always in the lead-up to a new graphics card launch, we've been monitoring the steady drip of leaks and rumors about specs, price, and performance, which have only accelerated in recent months as we move toward the expected release date of the card.

While we wait for the new flagship GPU from Nvidia to arrive, and no doubt take the top award as the best graphics card money can buy, you'll find all the information we currently know about the new graphics card below.

This burned-out AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D gaming CPU isn't what it seems

A curious Reddit post showing a burned-out AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D could have new AMD CPU owners concerned. Questions have been asked about whether the motherboard or CPU itself is faulty, but it looks like it could be down to a simple user error, rather than a more serious design problem.

A worst-case scenario for AMD would be a wider fault with its brand new chip, which is already the best gaming CPU you can buy. That would certainly put a spring in the steps of Intel, which itself has faced a terrible crisis with voltage fluctuations in its Raptor Lake CPUs, leading to game crashes and even damaged CPUs. However, the physical evidence of this burned 9800X3D doesn't point to a flawed design that needs fixing in this case, as we'll explain.

After ten years, superb survival game This War of Mine is suddenly back

From Fallout to Baldur's Gate 3, Civilization to Cyberpunk 2077, a lot of the greatest PC games are based on the idea that your choices as a player really, truly matter. But nowhere is that more keenly felt than in This War of Mine, the unique, historical survival game first launched by Frostpunk 2 maker 11 bit way back in 2014. A fictionalized portrait of the Siege of Sarajevo, it makes the simple act of cooking a meal, putting wood on the fire, or even answering the door feel laden with consequences. Now, a decade since it originally arrived, This War of Mine is suddenly back with an entirely new DLC.

AMD is laying off over 1,000 staff, as gaming GPU revenue plummets

AMD has confirmed that 4% of its employees around the world are about to lose their jobs, as the company seeks to focus on its "largest growth opportunities." The announcement comes just two weeks after AMD announced its third quarter 2024 financial results, which showed that revenue from its gaming division had plummeted by 69% year-on-year. It's this division that makes custom chips for the PS5 and Xbox, as well as AMD Radeon gaming GPUs for PCs.

While AMD is currently celebrating the success of its new Ryzen 7 9800X3D gaming CPU, which is so popular it's sold out practically everywhere right now, the picture is less rosy for the company elsewhere. In particular, revenue from its gaming segment sat at just $2,032 million in the nine months up to September 28, 2024, compared to $4,844 million over the same period last year. AMD might make the best gaming CPU right now, but its gaming GPU products are struggling.

The Half-Life 2 RTX remaster might just fix one of Valve's biggest problems

It was always the little details that made Half-Life 2 work. Take a second to look around Dr. Kleiner's impromptu lab in City 17, or the ramshackle Black Mesa East, and you can find dozens of traces of a world beyond what you're seeing as a player. Valve created some incredible environments, and threaded your journey between them with a smart, understated story, told through a cast of rounded characters. But the developer neglected combat. Although you spend most of your time as Gordon Freeman fighting and shooting, the guns feel a little damp, and there's no real 'system' - you tank damage with the HEV then emotionlessly knock down waves of Combine with the shotgun. The upcoming Half-Life 2 RTX remaster doesn't change the mechanics, but, based on a big new trailer, it might make the combat better. Again, it's the little details.

Brand-new survival RPG from former Elder Scrolls dev looks like co-op Fallout

It's right there from the beginning of the first Fallout game, that big cathode-ray-tube television that runs the opening cutscene. Interplay, and later Bethesda, cultivated an instantly recognizable aesthetic, where the schmaltzy, suburban 'perfection' of '50s America clashes with the brutality of the apocalypse. The debut game from Ruckus, a new studio composed of former Borderlands and Elder Scrolls developers, looks like it takes that visual style and runs with it. A co-op game with survival and RPG elements, we don't have a name yet, but the pedigree is high and the early details are promising.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 price just leaked, and it's eye-wateringly high

New Counter-Strike 2 map Train hides a mysterious reference to Portal

Half-Life 3 is the big one, the gaming culture equivalent of a mythical beast. But I suspect, given the choice, a lot of Valve fans would prefer a new Portal game rather than the return of Gordon Freeman. 13 years since the release of Portal 2, and two years since Aperture Desk Job, and it feels like the world of GLaDOS, Cave Johnson, and Atlas and P-Body is further away than ever. Or maybe not. The new Counter-Strike 2 map, a revival of CSGO classic Train, hides a seriously welcome little secret. It's unclear if this means anything, but as Half-Life 2 nears its 20th anniversary, it's good to know that Valve still remembers Portal exists.

GTA 6 release date window, trailers, and latest Rockstar Games news

November 14, 2024: We checked for the latest GTA 6 news following the Take-Two quarterly earnings report.

When is GTA 6 coming out? Given how many years it takes to create open worlds of the same caliber as GTA 5, it's no surprise that Rockstar Games has already spent years developing GTA 6. Rockstar prefers to keep its secrets close to its chest until close to the end of development, but Take-Two has now confirmed when exactly we can expect it to arrive.

The Grand Theft Auto 6 release date has certainly been a long time coming. Early gameplay leaks of GTA 6 surfaced online last year, along with lines of source code and development footage for the open-world game. There's been plenty of rumors and speculation surrounding the release date since then, but we finally have confirmation of the GTA 6 launch window, story, and setting. Here's all the latest on the GTA 6 release date, including trailers and news, right here on PCGamesN.

Sorry We're Closed is a retro survival horror-inspired game about escaping the clutches of an excessively horny demon who desperately wants your heart. As someone who isn't often into the 'lore' behind things and prefers to just shoot and ask questions later, I found myself actually asking the questions. I wanted to know why I was targeted by such carnal eroticism. I wanted to know more about my character's own relationships. How angels fit into the picture. And why lots of the demons seem quite chill, really.

But when it came to the actual survival - the bit I thought I'd enjoy the most - I came away a bit disappointed. Exploration is fine, it's just the combat is often too frequent and too frequently irritating. I came to dread the action more than the atmosphere, in the end.

In Rue Valley you role play a guy with poor mental health. He wanders around a crappy motel, stuck in the same old patterns of life, seemingly unable to escape his inner demons. When confronted with the premise for this upcoming RPG you may have one of two reactions. The first: you will say "lol, it me" with enough humour to wishlist it on Steam and earmark it for the future. The second: you will mutter "ugh, it me" and be immediately put off by the idea of having to tolerate an entire second layer of psychological hangups.

There is a third secret reaction though... you might think: oh, this looks a lot like Disco Elysium, but in the real world.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: running away is the best feeling in videogames. More specifically, being chased is the best feeling in videogames, a sentiment I'd happen to share with my golden retriever if you replaced the word "videogames" with "the universe". He is a purer being, but he'll also never know the joy of executing a rail-dismount into a dashing corner-jump escape in Deadlock, and for this he deserves our pity.

It's easy to miss if you haven't played for at least a few hours, but Deadlock packs one of the most engaging movement systems this side of Tribes Ascend.

The gaming keyboard market is currently tripping over itself, trying to equip everything with the technology most commonly known as Snap Tap: a feature that promises hyperfast inputs of two alternating keypresses, making you an unkillable side-strafing blur in your FPS of choice. Introduced on Razer's Huntsman V3 Pro series and quickly followed by Wooting's (functionally distinct but effectively identical) Rappy Snappy, Snap Tap is now wearing multiple names as it takes over the world of RGB peripherals, from SteelSeries' Rapid Tap to Corsair's FlashTap and Keychron's... Last Keystroke Prioritisation. Which doesn't sound as sexy, but still.

However, Snap Tap is also drawing a level of ire that exceeds the usual baseline scepticism of hardware marketing. Because it enables a form of input automation – where you can quickly move in two directions by rapidly tapping one key, while holding down another – it's considered by some as tantamount to cheating, allowing players to cross the line that divides unfair play from the accepted comforts that come with simply using a responsive Hall Effect keyboard or high-refresh-rate monitor. It's even become a bannable offence in certain games, most notably in Counter-Strike 2.

Neither side is backing down; in an astonishingly worded tweet, Wooting went as far as to concede Snap Tap "should be considered cheating. But if it's allowed, you need it." But do you?

HoYoVerse always shares teaser information ahead of new battlesuit debut in Honkai Impact 3rd, and the Honkai: Star Rail crossover character Sparkle just had her moment on social media. Elements of her character design were singled out for the Thousand-Faced Maestro battlesuit, and images of the recommended equipment showed up too.

When Sparkle debuts as a playable character in Honkai Impact 3rd, she will be an S-rank battlesuit. Her type will be Quantum, just like in Honkai: Star Rail. However, unlike her source game, she'll deal fire-type damage to her opponents. Like many units debuting after Part 2 of the game, she is compatible with the Astral Ring feature, with hers being known as World Star. She'll also use the Drive Core weapon added in Part 2, just like newcomers Senadina and Vita

As for her recommended Stigmata and weapons, they're all ones entirely new in the 7.9 update. The three Stigmata shown all star Sparkle, so we'll likely be able to earn or acquire those after the update. As for the Drive Cores, a five-star and six-star one are shown as options.

Here are the official images looking at the Thousand-Faced Maestro: Cameo Honkai: Star Rail battlesuit:

We just saw Sparkle rerun in Honkai: Star Rail recently too. Her banner showed up again at the end of August 2024. She debuted in that game in February 2024.

Honkai Impact 3rd is available on the PC and mobile devices. Honkai: Star Rail is on the PS5, PC, and mobile devices. The Honkai: Star Rail crossover event will appear on November 28, 2024.

FFIV 3D Remake, After Years, and Final Fantasy Join Apple Arcade

Apple and Square Enix announced that multiple Final Fantasy games will be joining Apple Arcade over the next two months, with the FFIV 3D remake that first appeared on the 3DS, FFIV: The After Years, and Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster all confirmed. There's one other RPG from the company also showing up alongside them. Trials of Mana will appear there as well.

All of these are considered "+" versions of the titles. This is a label applied to full games that may have already been available on the App Store, but with a paid version, before. It signifies that they are now Apple Arcade free versions with everything included.

Here's the full list of when the FFIV entries, Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster, and Trials of Mana game will launch on the service. The App Store product pages are already live for each one, so you can see space requirements, screenshots, and descriptions for each title.

Square Enix supported and released games on Apple Arcade basically since the subscription service started. One of the first contributions to the catalog was Various Daylife, which later went on to become a multiplatform game. This is the first time Final Fantasy and Mana games appeared on Apple Arcade, however.

The next round of Square Enix Apple Arcade additions will kick off with FFIV (3D Remake) and its sequel FFIV: The After Years on December 9, 2024. Apple Arcade is available for Macs and Apple iOS devices.

Rent-A-Girlfriend The Horizon and the Girlfriend in the Swimsuit - second major trailer

Mages has published the second major promotional trailer for Rent-a-Girlfriend: The Horizon and the Girlfriend in the Swimsuit. This trailer contains more gameplay tips for the upcoming game while revealing the soundtrack and drama CDs that come with the limited physical edition.

As previously revealed in September 2024, the game will have the series protagonist Kazuya work part-time in Enoshima with four out of the five heroines. The new trailer adds that Kazuya will be able to give support to a heroine four times a day.

The heroine with the most support will have her event scenes unlocked in the game's latter parts. However, Mages warns prospective players against mindlessly giving random support, as it may cause a Game Over from the failure to amass the required earnings. The player must instead take a deeper look at changes in the heroines' mood and performance levels to determine the optimal support on each turn.

The second major trailer for Rent-a-Girlfriend: The Horizon and the Girlfriend in the Swimsuit is also available to watch right below:

Mages has been stepping up promotions for the Rent-A-Girlfriend video game ahead of its release in late November 2024. The company launched a digital stamp rally at the game's real-life locations in Kanagawa prefecture's Enoshima island in late October 2024. This event is still available until December 15, 2024.

Mages will release Rent-a-Girlfriend: The Horizon and the Girlfriend in the Swimsuit for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Japan on November 28, 2024. The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll.

Beyblade X XONE is available worldwide on Switch and PC Steam

FuRyu has released Beyblade X: XONE on Switch and PC. The top versus game is now available worldwide in Japanese and English. Multiplayer matches for this game are only available via online or local Switch connections, as the offline modes are exclusively single-player.

A majority of characters appearing in this game will come from Beyblade X, which had its manga and anime adaptations launched in 2023. However, it lets the player enter the series' universe with an original avatar. They will be able to play in matches against the anime characters in the main offline mode.

FuRyu is also gradually releasing more Beys as paid DLC. The first Digital Beybooster pack appeared on the game's launch day with the Rudder Phoenix 9-70G, Crest Leon 7-60GN, and Tide Whale 5-80E. The company also plans to put up two more DLC packs in the near future.

As a side note, the game's Asian English website noted that the Switch version is available via the Hong Kong eShop. But even though Chinese is the main language for the territory's eShop, it only contains the English version of the game. This is partly caused by the lack of an eShop dedicated to Southeast Asian countries, even though Nintendo has opened official webpages in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines in the early 2020s.

Monster Hunter Wilds TGS 2024 physical demo will return in Okazaki Aichi Japan

Capcom has announced that it will bring physical demo builds of Monster Hunter Wilds to Okazaki City in Japan's Aichi Prefecture. People residing in the city will get another chance to play the highly-anticipated game in late November 2024, ahead of its global release in February 2025.

This demo build will be more identical to the one that appeared at the Tokyo Game Show 2024 in September than the open beta test client available digitally worldwide in late October 2024. It will feature a single-player hunting quest against Doshaguma.

Players will be able to take on the quest while riding a Seikret and switching between two available weapons. However, this demo will be completely offline, as using the SOS Flare will only spawn CPU-controlled NPC hunters. People who have finished playing this demo will receive a sticker featuring Monster Hunter Wilds' key visual as memorabilia while supplies last.

The Monster Hunter Wilds physical demo build will be available at Plaza Capcom in Aeon Mall Okazaki on November 23-24, 2024. The facility will be open from 12 PM until 6 PM JST. Capcom will release the full game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC simultaneously worldwide on February 28, 2025.
