Outriders Dev Says They Hope To Share More Specifics On Bumpy Launch

Outriders

Last week saw the launch of Outriders after a couple of delays, and all signs point to the game having potentially done pretty well for Square Enix and People Can Fly. The looter shooter has a surprisingly addictive gameplay loot and many people seem to be enjoying it pretty well. Having said that, it seems as if there have been a lot of issues, and ones the developer hopes to get specific about down the road.

There have been lots of reports of players being unable to connect to the servers, or having to log in multiple times to do so. Since the game is required to be online, even if you're playing solo, this has caused a lot of grief over the course of the week of the game post-launch. In a post from the official Twitter account, the developers acknowledged there were issues and said they hope to get more specific down the line about what caused the bulk of these issues as well as what they're doing to address the problem. It's unclear what that means, obviously, but it will be interesting to see if they have pinpointed what the core problem is.

Outriders is available now on most major platforms. For the game's possible post-launch plans of full expansions, you can read through here.

Returnal Dev Diary Highlights Narrative Design

Returnal_13

Housemarque has a new episode of HouseCast available with Returnal's narrative director Gregory Louden discussing the story-telling. There's also a bit of new gameplay footage to see from 10:50 onwards, primarily showcasing the combat. Check it out below.

While the player starts sympathizing with protagonist Selene at the beginning, that shifts towards understanding Atropos and its inhabitants. You'll begin to understand how they came to be and survive on the planet. Of course, the player is dropped right into the action from the start so they'll learn as much about what's going on as Selene will.

Most intriguing about the game's story is how its narrative events are randomized in each run so you'll learn something new each time. Returnal is currently slated to release on April 30th for PS5. For more details on the gameplay, head here to learn more about daily challenges and here for details on the Adrenaline and Overload mechanics.

Atomic Heart Gets Nearly 22 Minutes Of Gameplay Footage

Now we get a big look at the game with a lot of footage.

Posted curtesy of GameCross, we got just under 22 minutes of what's listed as pre-alpha gameplay footage. Some parts of the video is something of a highlight reel showing what appears to be various action and gameplay sequences as a quick cut video, while the rest is closer to a traditional gameplay demo. We see a lot of different enemies, setting and weapons in action. Check it out in full below.

Atomic Heart is set to release sometime this year for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC. You can check out the PC requirements for the game through here.

Rainbow Six Quarantine – 5 More Minutes of Gameplay Footage Leaked

rainbow six quarantine

Though Ubisoft have been awfully quiet about Rainbow Six Quarantine (or whatever they wind up actually calling it), a number of leaks in the last few weeks have revealed plenty of new details on the co-op PvE shooter, showing new gameplay details and providing glimpses of what the game is going to be like when it finally launches. Now, another leak shows about five minutes of new gameplay footage.

There's plenty of action being shown off here, and the video encapsulates the structure of missions in the game pretty neatly. Everything from aliens and weapons to gadgets and environments are shown off, and it's clear that the game seems to be attempting to strike a balance between using familiar elements from other Rainbow Six games (especially Siege) and injecting some of its own new ideas as well. Check it out below.

Multiple recent leaks have suggested that Rainbow Six Quarantine is going to be renamed to Parasitebut Ubisoft has said that that's just a name given to it for internal testing purposes, and that the final name is yet to be revealed.

Ubisoft has previously said that the shooter is going to launch by September by the latest, but new updates on the game have been scant since then. Stay tuned for more details as they come our way.

Disco Elysium – The Final Cut Review – Very Disco

Disco Elysium's launch back in 2019 may not have been preceded by an awful lot of fanfare, but it didn't take long after it released for everyone to realize what a special game it was. Widespread acclaim, truckloads of awards and accolades, and excellent word of mouth combined to make the industry sit up and take notice, and those who played the unique, off-beat RPG realized that this was the sort of game that would be recognized as an instant classic and a giant of the genre for years to come. Now, with Disco Elysium – The Final Cut, developer ZA/UM has brought the seminal RPG to wider audiences outside the PC ecosystem, and made several improvements to the game in the process. The result is an excellent achievement that improves upon what was clearly already a great game.

Disco Elysium's biggest strength is its setting, and the fantastic world-building that breathes life into that setting. On the surface, it tells the story of a detective with a tragic past who is recovering from complete amnesia, but finds himself leading an investigation into a violent and mysterious murder. Thanks to that setup and the way it unfolds and progresses, the story is enjoyable even on that surface level. Discovering new pieces of the puzzle and then putting them together as you attempt to get to the heart of the mystery is captivating, and made even more so by the excellent characters that serve as the main players in the story. Even so, that initial narrative drive ends up taking a backseat to the larger stories Disco Elysium tells in and through its world.

disco elysium

"Disco Elysium's biggest strength is its setting, and the fantastic world-building that breathes life into that setting."

The game takes place in Martinaise, a district in the city of Revachol, which has a long and violent history of revolutions, failed governments, and violence, and currently teeters on the edge of chaos under the control of a coalition of governments. Disco Elysium leverages its setting in incredible ways to tackle complex themes, and keeps asking players fascinating questions in ways that feel organically tied to the story and to its world. Revachol has a rich and fascinating history, the people of Martinaise that you meet throughout the game are all delightfully bizarre and full of personality, and it feels like no matter where you're going or what you're doing, you're constantly uncovering new details to deepen your understanding of Disco Elysium's world.

What helps, of course, is the consistently excellent writing- which is a good thing, because Disco Elysium is heavy on text, and reading through it is how you're going to spend the bulk of your time while playing the game. The game constantly strikes the perfect balance between showing and telling, between being subtle and being explicit, between being funny and being gruesomely dark. In The Final Cut, every single written line is also fully voiced. That in and of itself is an impressive accomplishment, given the fact that there's over a million written words in the game- but that achievement is made that much more worthy of praise thanks to the excellent quality of voice work. Every character has a unique voice that seems to suit their words and their personality perfectly, with the narrator in particular being the star of the show here.

But, of course, Disco Elysium doesn't just succeed in terms of storytelling, writing, and world-building- it is an excellent role playing game as well. It's incredibly unique, and goes about doing familiar things in very off-beat ways, and executes those ideas perfectly. The game is completely lacking in combat, and is instead centered first and foremost around skill checks. There are two dozen different skills that you can invest in, and depending on how you choose to build your character throughout the course of the game, you can be anything from a walking repository of endless knowledge to a brute who solves problems with his fist, from someone who seeks to understand the pain of people to a detective with a keen eye and a brilliant mind who never misses any detail.

disco elysium

"Revachol has a rich and fascinating history, the people of Martinaise that you meet throughout the game are all delightfully bizarre and full of personality, and it feels like no matter where you're going or what you're doing, you're constantly uncovering new details to deepen your understanding of Disco Elysium's world."

Add to that more role playing mechanics in the form of things such as the Thought Cabinet – where you internalize new thoughts to earn various boosts and buffs – or even equipping new pieces of clothes to buff up various stats, and what you have is a game with impressive build variety. The sheer variety and breadth of options available in how you want to progress your character and interact with the world is staggering. Granted, it's no Divinity: Original Sin 2 in that regard, but in relation to the game's size and scope, it's enough for more than just a few replays, each wildly different from the other.

How your detective behaves, responds to people, and reacts to situations also helps define their character, a big part of which is what political ideology they subscribe to. You can choose to someone who is seeking to incite a revolution, someone who just wants to keep the status quo going, someone who wants to keep the corporations and those in power in charge, or even someone who'd rather just watch it all play out from the sidelines. These choices not only further enrich the excellent world of Disco Elysium, they also contribute significantly to the aforementioned variety.

Disco Elysium – The Final Cut, however, does have a few issues- and many of these are exclusive to The Final Cut. Most are strictly technical. For instance, often, the audio for lines doesn't play, and every once in a while I'd go through bits and pieces of conversations or internal monologues where the voice acting would completely disappear. Meanwhile, during my time playing the game on a PS5, I also encounter a couple of crashes. Granted, a couple isn't too many, but both of them did cost me a decent amount of progress since my last autosave, so they were definitely a source of frustration.

disco elysium

"But, of course, Disco Elysium doesn't just succeed in terms of storytelling, writing, and world-building- it is an excellent role playing game as well."

The user interface in Disco Elysium – The Final Cut is also far from perfect. Scrolling through all the interactable objects with the right stick feels unintuitive and inaccurate. Often, I would try interacting with highlighted elements, but the game wouldn't read that I'd pressed the X button until I moves around a little and did it again. Walking around can also be a bit of a hassle at times, specifically when you're navigating around confined and claustrophobic areas. There are a few other issues as well, such as the readability of a few elements in the game's menu. None of these game-breaking issues by any means, and a few are definitely to be expected when playing a game like this on a controller, but put together, they do lead to moments of annoyance and clunkyness.

Minor issues aside though, this is a game that RPG fans absolutely shouldn't miss. Disco Elysium was already an excellent game when it first launched, and with The Final Cut, it's been made even better. The new changes and improvements breathe even more life into a world that was already brimming with personality, and though the flaws are not non-existent, they're easy to forgive. Anyone who hasn't played this game before needs to experience it for themselves, and anyone who has now has the perfect excuse to jump back in and play through an even better version of it.

This game was reviewed on the PlayStation 5.

Microsoft Will Host Smaller Xbox Event in the Coming Weeks – Rumour

xbox series x xbox series s

Rumours and leaks over the past few weeks have suggested that Microsoft is going to have a fair number of events scheduled throughout the coming weeks and months, through which they're going to be making some pretty big announcements. And while those big announcements are, of course, likely going to be worth looking forward to, it seems Microsoft also plans on having a few smaller events here and there to complement its bigger conferences.

One such event came at the end of last month with the first ever Xbox indie showcase, but it seems more stuff is coming up. Over on ZDNet, Mary Jo Foley – who's been known to be a credible Microsoft leaker in the past – recently published a report in which she stated that Microsoft will be hosting a series of smaller events at a regular basis, called "What's Next". The first of these, a "What's Next for Gaming" event, is supposedly coming up "in the coming weeks."

Microsoft does have a number of notable releases coming up, including the likes of Microsoft Flight Simulator for Xbox Series X/S and Psychonauts 2, and both those games haven't received any updates for a while now. An event in the coming weeks might be the perfect time to confirm release dates for such games.

Meanwhile, in a few days, Microsoft is going to be talking about Age of Empires 4 in an AoE-focused event. Plans for larger, more traditional conferences in the Summer are also underway. Additionally, reports have suggested that Microsoft and Bethesda are both going to have their own individual conferences around E3.

Outriders Debuts at No. 6 in Weekly UK Retail Charts

Outriders_05

The latest UK weekly charts for physical video game sales are in (via GamesIndustry), and there's been some interesting activity. People Can Fly and Square Enix's new RPG shooter Outriders has gotten off to a solid start, debuting in sixth place. It saw 52% of its sales on the PS5, 31% on the PS4, and 17% on Xbox. It's worth noting that the game is also available via Xbox Game Pass on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, which doubtless would have impact its total retail sales and Xbox figures.

Meanwhile, Monster Hunter Rise has also been enjoying incredible global sales since its launch, and debuted on top of the UK charts last week. This week, it has fallen to fourth place. Taking the top spot instead is FIFA 21, which saw an 81% week-over-week increase in sales.

A number of other games have also seen similar increases, in particular thanks to the Easter week sales. Animal Crossing: New Horizons (at No. 2) saw an 11% bump, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (No. 3) is u 16%, and Ring Fit Adventure has seen an impressive 127% increase to re-enter the top 10 at No. 7. Meanwhile, Super Mario 3D All-Stars' limited run may have ended, but stocks are still available at some retailers, and the game occupies eighth place in the charts this week.

Why is RIP Fortnite Trending on Twitter? Controversy Explained

New Peely Skin Fortnite

It's not a day that ends in 'Y' without people claiming that an extremely popular and competitive online game is dead. Here's what's up with #RIPFortnite.

If you've hopped on Twitter over the last several hours, you might have noticed that "RIP Fortnite" is a trending hashtag.

So what's the deal? Is Fortnite dead–like, actually dead? Are people just upset about changes in the newest season?

Here's everything you need to know about the "RIP Fortnite" hashtag.

  • MORE: Fortnite x Rocket League: What are the Llama Rama Challenges

Why is RIP Fortnite Trending on Twitter?

So here's the deal: Fortnite isn't shutting down or dead or whatever else you might want to call it. People are currently upset and tweeting with the "RIP Fortnite" hashtag for one of two reasons. The first is that they simply think the game and its community are old news and "dead." The other reason is a little bit more complicated.

Epic Games is trying to crack down on wager matches by telling popular streamers who promote them that they'll be banned unless they stop. Wager matches are exactly as they sound: a type of unofficial game mode that has people betting on who will win the match. Despite being against the Terms of Service agreement that every Fortnite player agrees to when playing the game, popular streamers like Clix have been promoting them.

"RIP Fortnite" is trending because a lot of people think that these wager matches have been keeping the game alive. Even though it promotes gambling to children, a lot of people are upset over Epic Game's newfound strictness.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.2: Patch Notes, Release Date

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.2

Cyberpunk 2077 had been one of the most hyped games of last year. However, much to the disappointment of fans, the game had a lot of issues at launch, and it failed to live up to expectations. In fact, the game's poor optimization on last-gen consoles led to its removal from the PlayStation Store.

After the backlash it received at launch, the developers posted an apology promising fans that it will be releasing two major updates to fix the issues the game had. The 1.1 Patch was released back in January, and it did bring a number of improvements to the game, ranging from crash fixes to memory usage improvements. Here is what we know about the next patch, Update 1.2 so far.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.2: Release Date

When CD Projekt Red issued an apology back in December, it had stated that the first patch will come in January, followed by the second one in February. The first patch came on time, but just after that, the company was hit by a cyber attack that disrupted its plans, causing the patch to be delayed.

Now, the patch is slated to be releasing this month itself. With just less than a week left for March to end, we will get the 1.2 Update pretty soon. However, as of now, the release date hasn't been announced. That being said, the developers have stated that the patch is being tested, so it shouldn't be long before we get the update.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.2: Patch Notes

The patch notes of the 1.2 Update haven't been shared yet. However, in a recent Night City news report, the developers have highlighted what fans can expect from the update. Here is a gist of everything confirmed so far.

  • Police will be responding to crimes slower than earlier.
  • Drones will be assisting the police in assessing crimes.
  • A new steering sensitivity slider will be added to the game.
  • The Steering has been optimized to make it smoother and more more consistent whenever there is a drop in the framrate.
  • A new feature will be added which help players get their cars freed when stuck
  • Right now, double tapping on a movement key makes the character dodge. This will be disabled in the next update.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier: Who Is Isaiah Bradley?

isaiah bradley falcon and winter soldier

The second episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is now available on Disney+ and many fans were left with the same question, who is Isaiah Bradley?

For those that may not have caught up with the latest episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier you have been officially warned, there are spoilers ahead.

  • FORTNITE: How To Get The Psylocke Skin – Marvel Outfits Return

Who Is Isaiah Bradley?

Episode 2 of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier introduced a brand new character to the MCU, Isaiah Bradley. The new character was portrayed by Carl Lumbly and although this is his first appearance in the MCU, it appears the character is a pivotal part of the super-soldier storyline.

Isaiah Bradley isn't a made-up character just for the MCU, he is actually a character that appeared in the Marvel comic books. Bradley is depicted as an early outcome of the USA's Super-Soldier program, which fans will know is how Steve Roger's Captain America came into existence during World War II.

In simpler terms, Isaiah Bradley is another Captain America. In the Marvel Comic Book universe, Isaiah took on the name of Captain America after it was presumed Steve Rogers had died.

During Episode 2, Sam and Bucky head to Baltimore to meet Isaiah Bradley, who is now an elderly and confused man.

Bradley informed Bucky and Sam that he stopped using his powers a long time ago because he believed the process of being turned into a super-soldier was government-sanctioned torture. Bucky then insists that Bradley was a hero and one of the soldiers that HYDRA truly feared. Bucky knows that HYDRA feared Isaiah because the two were on opposite sides back in the '50s.

It looks like this won't be the last time we see or hear of Isaiah Bradley, but fans will have to wait until next Friday (April 2) to see where Episode 3 takes The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 2

Fans can watch "The Star Spangled Man", which is the second episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, right now on Disney+.

The runtime is 50 minutes long, so get comfy, get the snacks, and get watching!

New episodes of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier are released every Friday.

Monster Hunter Rise Layered Armor – How To Redeem, Equip and Stats

Monster Hunter rise layered armor

The time has arrived – Monster Hunter Rise is here and players all over the world are beginning the hunt.

Those who pre-ordered Capcom's latest entry into the series received some interesting pre-order bonuses, in the form of Layered Armor. Those who purchased the Deluxe Edition would have received some too.

Here is everything you need to know about the bonuses.

  • WATCH OUTApex Rathalos to Join Monster Hunter Rise next month.

What Layered Armor is available in Monster Hunter Rise?

For pre-ordering Monster Hunter Rise, players gained access to a pair of Layered Armor items, they are as follows:

  • Palamute Retriever Costume layered armour
  • Palico Forest Cat Costume layered armour

Players who purchased the Deluxe Edition of the game also gained access to three more Layered Armor items – these are:

  • Kamurai Hunter layered armor set
  • Shuriken Collar Palamute layered armor piece
  • Fish Collar Palico layered armour piece

How to redeem and equip the Layered Armor pre-order bonus.

  • MORE – Monster Hunter Rise Deluxe vs Standard Edition – What's Included

Redeeming these items is relatively simple.

First of all, players need to get far enough through the game to speak to Hinoa, the Quest Maiden.

Following that, players should receive a prompt, letting them know the extra content is available.

From there, players can head across to the courier (who is actually a Palico) and initiate a conversation with them. Players will need to select the "Add-on Content" option and then they can simply accept all items.

Equipping the items is equally as simple. Players just head across to the Item Box, select the "Layered Armor Sets" section and then equip the armor they require.

What Stat Boosts does the Layered Armor offer?

Unfortunately, none. The Layered Armor items in the Monster Hunter series offer no boosts and are purely there for cosmetic purposes.

Today is the day that eager Monster Hunting fans have been waiting for as it hits the Nintendo Switch.

Unless you are one of Masaki Hiyama's employees, who runs Japanese VR development company, Mark-on, and you have been given the day off, chances are that you're going to have to wait until after work to play Monster Hunter Rise.

Or maybe you were clever enough to book it off. Either way, Monster Hunter Rise releases today on the Nintendo Switch. While players will want to get stuck in and start their hunting spree as soon as possible, let's start off with how you can look your best killing monsters.

How to change your appearance in Monster Hunter Rise

We all know what it's like to get fed up with how we appear after awhile so thankfully, changing how you look in Monster Hunter Rise can happen without fuss at any time.

All players have to do is head to their room in Kamura by quick travelling and opening the Item Box or alternatively, players can interact with the Item Box near Hinoa by choosing to change their appearance from the options.

Once you have done that, you'll then notice a screen that allows you to change up how you look in character creation like when you initially started to craft your character at the beginning.

You'll then have the choice of choosing different options from clothes, makeup and hair to eyebrows and whether you would like a fancy beard. Just to be clear, you can't change your gender or change how your Palamute or Palico looks.

Monster Hunter Rise Update: Monster Hunter Rise Day One Update (Today, March 26) – Patch Notes and Bug Fixes

What time does Monster Hunter Rise release on the Nintendo Switch?

Monster Hunter Rise should be released today at 12 a.m. Eastern on March 26, 2021, in North America. In The UK, players who pre-ordered the game will get a sneak peek before everyone else the night before but for those who haven't preordered, they should be able to get stuck in at 2 pm GMT

How long is Monster Hunter Rise?

Depending, of course, how you like to play your games and if you like to rush opposed to taking your time, that will factor into the game's length but generally speaking, it should take somewhere around 20 to 30 hours to complete the story of Monster Hunter Rise.

Risk of Rain 2: How to Unlock Hidden Character Heretic + Skills

risk of rain 2 heretic

A brand new Anniversary Update for Risk of Rain 2 went live on March 25, and it brought a brand new mystery survivor known as the Heretic.

Here's everything you need to know about the new character, and how you can play as the Heretic. If you haven't seen it already, DualShockers have got the full patch notes and information surrounding the Risk of Rain 2 Anniversary Update, you can check it out at the link below.

What Is Risk of Rain 2?

Risk of Rain 2 is a third-person shooter developed by Hopoo Games, it was released for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in August of 2020. The game most recently received an Anniversary Update to celebrate 2 years since the release of it's Early Access version.

The sequel to the popular title Risk of Rain follows a similar approach in terms of gameplay, up to four players must progress through several levels whilst taking out enemies.

Each of these levels will have a teleporter that players must find and activate, once activated they must survive the hoard of enemies and bosses until the teleporter is fully activated.

One of the biggest changes from the original title, is Risk of Rain 2 is now set in a 3D environment as opposed to 2D.

Risk of Rain 2 is available right now on Steam, PlayStaion 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia.

How To Unlock Heretic In Risk of Rain 2

If you're wondering how you can play as Heretic after the latest update on March 25, here's how.

The Heretic is a unique character that isn't actually playable from the character select screen, instead, there's a different method to obtaining this character.

To play as the Heretic you will need to collect all four of the Heresy Items in-game, you will then turn into the Heretic. It's also worth noting that since the latest update, there has been two new Heresy Items added, meaning there are now four to collect.

Unfortunately, even after you collect the four Heresy Items, the Heretic won't become a selectable character to play with. If you want to continue playing as the Heretic in Risk of Rain 2, you will need to continuously collect the four items.

Heretic Skills

So what special abilities or skills does the Heretic have? Well, the abilities will come from the Heresy Item set. This means that you will have the following abilities as the Heretic:

  • Visions of Heresy – Hungering Gaze
Fire a flurry of tracking shards that detonate after a delay, dealing 120% base damage.
  • Hooks of Heresy – Slicing Maelstrom
Charge up a projectile that deals 175% damage per second to nearby enemies, exploding after 3 seconds to deal 700% damage and root enemies for 3 seconds.
  • Essence of Heresy – Ruin
Dealing damage adds a stack of Ruin for 10 seconds. Activating the skill detonates all Ruin stacks at unlimited range, dealing 300% damage plus 120% damage per stack of Ruin.
  • Strides of Heresy – Shadowfade
Fade away, becoming intangible and gaining +30% movement speed. Heal for 18.2% of your maximum health. Lasts 3 seconds.

The Heretic also has a total of 440 health (+132 per level) and deals a total of 18 damage (+3.6 per level).

The 5 Best PlayStation 3 Games on the PlayStation Store

The PlayStation 3 store is closing on July 2; long may it reign.

As Sony begins to sunset its seventh generation console, there is no better time to load up on classics for your never ending backlog. From AAA juggernauts to indie wonders, here are the 5 best PlayStation 3 games on the PlayStation Store.

The 5 Best PlayStation 3 Games on the PlayStation Store

ModNation Racers

Nintendo might rule the karting roost with their time-honored Mario Kart series, but United Front Games and Sony Computer Entertainment make a compelling case to trade out your wheels with ModNation Racers.

The drifting, power-ups, and boosting mechanics hit all the right notes for the genre, but the game truly shines with its user generated content. The online ModSpot lobby area is a one-stop shop that allows players to meet up, race, and create and download content. A near limitless amount of courses and content are at your disposal, and those looking to get in on the online action best grab this title sooner rather than later.

Gran Turismo 6

Gearheads may have been somewhat disappointed with Gran Turismo Sport, but Polyphony Digital and Sony Computer Entertainment's Gran Turismo 6 is still one of the best driving simulators on the market after all these years.

More than 120 cars, 40 Locations, and 107 layouts have been included, along with a Career Mode and B-Spec mode with AI. To maintain its air of authenticity, this title is the first game ever to feature officially FIA-certified content.

Although the online mode of this title was shut down in 2018, six tracks and dozens of cars remain DLC for the game. For those looking for the ultimate driving sim, players should make sure to grab this content before July rolls around.

Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds

Mark Twain may have said that golf is a good walk spoiled, but he must have never played Clap Hanz and Sony Computer Entertainment's Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds.

The three-click shot system the series is known for makes its return, making for an arcade-like golf experience that encourages players to improve their skills each go-around. When paired with its unlockables, tournament play, and online modes, this is one title that has some serious legs.

Those looking for the ultimate experience should pay a visit to the PlayStation Store; Alex and Gloria are joined by Kratos and Sackboy as playable DLC characters, and the Oceania Resort Course can only be purchased online.

Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown

Tekken may have stolen Virtua Fighter's lunch and thrown it into a locker, but SEGA's Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown still deserves some love from fighting game fans.

In what is arguably the best entry to date, Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown stresses the importance of frames and boils everything down to a punch, kick, and block button. This one-on-one fighter packs some incredible depth, and is the perfect way to prepare for the Virtua Fighter X eSports project on the horizon.

Yakuza fans may be able to play this one in the bustling arcades of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Judgment, and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, but the standalone experience can only be yours through the PlayStation Store (and Xbox Live, but that's for another story).

Tokyo Jungle

We promise you that you've never played anything like Crispy's! and Sony Computer Entertainment's Tokyo Jungle.

Tokyo has been transformed into a vicious wildlife wasteland in this title, one where lions, tigers, chickens, and other animals fight for survival. Players will build a pack from 80 different animals across 50 breeds, with players setting out to discover the truth behind humankind's disappearance. A Survival Mode with online leaderboards has also been included, allowing players to partake in a true survival of the fittest.

Although the title was released on the Best of PlayStation Network Vol. 1 disc in 2013, even the cheapest listing on eBay is asking for more than $100 as of this writing. For those not looking to break the bank, be sure to grab this title from the PlayStation Network.

Tadpole Tales Review

In what is proving to be a seminal year for the world of tadpole video games, Pinnical Studios' Tadpole Tales has players firing away in a "clean 'em-up" shoot 'em-up. Should players take on this creative purification ritual, or is this title a polluted mess?

Tadpole Tales Review

Tadpole Tales stars out on a dour note, with three corrupt monsters intoxicating a once clean river. However, a tiny little tadpole has set out to save this area that they call home, spitting out bubbles to make everything all clean and sparkly. With the power of its little breath, what was gross can become clean.

A horizontal shoot 'em-up at its core, Tadpole Tales has players navigating enemy threats and bullets. Though the frogs and fishes might be different than the ships and asteroids players are used to, the formula is still very much the same. Movement is done with the WASD keys, and the ever-so-helpful fire button is mapped to the Space Bar.

This control scheme is simple at its core, which is both a blessing and a curse. While the control scheme is responsive and works well, it also does not provide much depth. Players can grab additional hearts to help their tadpole grow and improve their firepower (akin to Konami's Gradius series), but that is about the extent of its complexity.

Rather, the game lives and dies by its action. Though it is a short game that clocks in at around 15 minutes, players will come across three different zones that each have a boss waiting at the end of them. Patterns are the name of the game, and figuring out a flow to the action is the key to survival. Those who grew up in an arcade will no doubt know this song and dance, and Tadpole Tales delivers the same experience, albeit in a smaller package.

However, there is one area that Tadpole Tales truly excels at: its presentation. This is an absolutely gorgeous game, with fluid animation and some incredible artwork on display. Much like Studio MDHR's Cuphead, the world comes alive when players are thrown into the action. The soundtrack manages to keep pace as well, harkening back to the quarter munchers of old with some solid beats.

Those that successfully complete a run of the game will be able to unlock an Expert Mode, which takes place at night and has only bosses dropping hearts. Players will also be able to chase their scores and best time. There are achievements for beating the developers' best time and beating normal mode without losing any hearts, so perfectionists and completionists alike can certainly keep themselves busy.

Tadpole Tales may be a simple shmup at its core, but its stellar audiovisual presentation and tight controls make it worth a playthrough for fans of the genre.

This review of Tadpole Tales was done on the PC. The game was freely downloaded.

The newest Planeswalker class to join Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Games' Magic: Legends is the Dimir Assassin.

This stealthy and agile assassin epitomizes Ravnica's House Dimir, possessing the ability to set up enemies for devastating combo attacks. They always fight on their own terms, and carry with them a strong sense of control before exploiting weaknesses.

The Dimir Assassin Costume is unlocked account-wide and is equippable at any Tailor in-game. Meanwhile the Disinformation Trait (which is unlocked at class Level 30) makes creatures you control gain Lesser Resistance for five seconds whenever you draw a spell. Alternatively, when you discard a spell, enemies within 15 feet will gain Greater Vulnerability for five seconds.

Finally, the Nightveil Stalker (which is unlocked immediately) is a Mythic Rare spirit Assassin Creature spell with Hexproof. Upon entering each battlefield, it deals damage to foes and stuns them. For every third spell you draw, it will teleport to an enemy and damage them, losing its hexproof ability for a brief period of time.

Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout – Bounding Bunny Costume Live Action Trailer | PS4

Since its release last summer, the world of Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout has served as a free-for-all battle royale struggle that throws contestants through multiple rounds of escalating chaos until one victor remains. Up to 60 players enter the fray at any given time, and the number gradually gets down to one Crown victor. For those looking for new content, there are additional seasons approximately every two months.

TV junkies are no doubt familiar with its concept; the title pulls inspiration from shows like Takeshi's Castle, It's a Knockout, and Wipeout.

The game is now available for the PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam, and will come out for the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One this summer. You can read our review of the PlayStation 4 version here, which we gave a score of 75/100.

Outriders Best Legendary Weapons Guide

Best Legendary Weapons In Outriders
Legendary Weapons stand head and shoulders above the rest. This Outriders Best Legendary Weapons Guide will list some of the most powerful legendary weapons we've discovered so far, as well as information on how to unlock each of the weapons.

Outriders has only just released so we've not encountered a full arsenal of legendary weapons so far. They are quite rare, at least in the earlier stages. As you grow in strength and progress through the game, try to make sure you are playing on the highest World Tier you can stomach. The higher tiers provide huge bonuses to drop rate, so fighting the strongest enemies you can will increase the rate of more powerful drops. We will avoid all spoilers in relation to the story.

Grim Marrow

Grim Marrow
The Grim Marrow is unlocked towards the end of the story quest, it's a guaranteed drop that you can't miss. This is a fully upgraded version for a level 27 character, boasting huge Crit Damage bonuses and a nice bonus to close range damage. The Singularity is a fantastic tool for large groups, creating an Anomaly that you can shoot to detonate, killing everything nearby.

Lucky Jinx

Lucky Jinx
This Double Gun Demolisher Var puts out a huge amount of firepower at an alarming pace. Toxic keeps constant damage on your enemies and the Perpetuum Mobile allows you to instantly reload your ammo whenever you kill enemies with less that 35% ammo in your clip. It's like running around with a mini-gun and infinite ammo. The Lucky Jinx is unlocked by completing all of the Wanted quests.

Torment & Agony

Torment & Agony
If I'm being honest, I hardly touched my sidearm on my entire playthrough. However, if you're hoping to pack something with style, the Torment & Agony combo is a good way to go. It's dual wielding pistols with a very high fire rate, which works incredibly well with the two mods that both cause damage to enemies whenever you reload. This is another weapon unlocked through story progress.

Vest Of The Cannonball

Vest Of The Cannonball
Okay, so it's not a weapon, but you're here for the cool legendary stuff right? The Vest of the Cannonball is the only legendary piece of armor we've found so far. A perfect tool for hunting elites with a 25% damage reduction and a 10% increase to shotgun damage. Perfect for any Outriders arsenal. You unlock this legendary piece by completing all of the Hunting quests.

We're still exploring Outriders to find more Legendary weapons. Share some of your best finds in the comments section below.

Outriders Review – Not Just Another Destiny Clone

Square Enix and People Can Fly look to bring their gritty sci-fi shooter to the forefront of the third-person shooter space with Outriders. Featuring an innovative approach to combat, a wonderfully crafted world, an intriguing story, and a deeply detailed class system, is there room for yet another looter shooter, or is Outriders yet another failed attempt to cash in on Destiny's success?

Outriders Review – Not Just Another Destiny Clone

Earth has been destroyed, and humanity has been pushed to near extinction. In a last-ditch attempt to save the species, the ECA (Enoch Colonization Authority) sends two massive ships to colonize Enoch, an Earth-like planet nearly 100 years away. A team of elite soldiers known as the Outriders are the first to touch down, but they quickly find the planet engulfed in a scientific Anomaly. Destroying all electronics, wiping out colonies, and mutating plant and animal life into horrid monstrosities, humanity's last hope looks grim.

That's where you come in.

On its surface, it's very easy to dismiss Outriders as just another Destiny clone. While certain aspects of that assumption are correct, especially when looking at the nearly identical user interface, in reality People Can Fly has clearly had a very different philosophy when developing this title.

One of the primary elements that helps Outriders stand out from the crowd, and arguably the most important, is its combat. Sure, it's yet another third-person shooter with loot, but the concept, design, and execution of the combat is refreshingly brilliant from start to finish. At the beginning of the adventure, players can choose between four unique classes: Technomancer, Pyromancer, Trickster, or Devastator. Despite this, there's no specific archetypes or holy trinity restricting group makeup.

Each class excels in different areas, but none are required for any of the content. You don't need to worry about finding specific characters with specific builds to tackle the games various boss battles and side quests. Any group of friends can jump into a party, regardless of class choice, and tackle any of the content the game has to offer. This is largely due to the intriguing combination of cover-based shooting and aggressive-based healing.

Every battle takes place in carefully crafted battlefields that combine wide open spaces and tightly packed corridors, with barricades and debris the only lifeline between life and death. It's all too easy to fall into the comfort of the cover-based elements, moving quickly from cover to cover to avoid enemy fire. While this strategy works in places, the plan of relying solely on cover will quickly fall to pieces as the enemy advances at an alarmingly aggressive pace while destroying cover, forcing you to move with carefully placed grenades and abilities and doing everything they can to remove the relative safety of shooting from afar.

Once you unteach yourself that cover equals safety, its true design comes to fruition – and it's marvelous. Outriders' core concept of combat is healing via combat. You don't retreat to a safe corner and load up on potions or healing items, nor do you rely on abilities from other classes to keep you alive. Whether you live or die is completely dependent on your ability to be aggressive with your skills and abilities, creating for an action-packed, adrenaline fueled combat system that makes every battle as challenging as it is rewarding.

With such an innovative approach to the combat design, it would have been all too easy for the developers to leave it at that. They could have thrown in the regular loot and shoot systems and called it a day, but Outriders does so much more. Unlike other games in the genre, abilities are not an "oh crap" key that you wait to use until the very last minute when you're knocking at death's door.

Each recharges at a fantastic pace, allowing you to throw multiple abilities down in the same fight, over and over again. And these are not basic or boring abilities; they turn the tide of battle each time they are used. Playing the Devastator, my starting abilities included a bullet shield that absorbs all projectile damage before throwing it back at nearby enemies, a gravity leap that lets me leap to practically any enemy on the battlefield and turn them into a thick, red mist, and an ability that turned my skin to stone, drastically increasing my resistance to incoming damage.

Knowing when and how to use these abilities is key to survival, but the option to use them consistently, in an out of every fight, makes the combat one of the most engaging and exciting the genre has seen for years. Adding yet further depth and appeal to the entire approach is a gear system that is impactful on a level we rarely see in games that focus on gear score and loot grinding.

Outriders does have a gear score system. Your weapons indicate your Firepower, Anomaly Power is your abilities, and Health and Armor represent your ability to survive. These represent your ability to attempt content at a higher World Tier, increasing the difficulty of the enemies you encounter and the value of the rewards you receive. It's the gear, the regular items you pick up time after time, that truly makes Outriders gear grind a worthwhile experience.

All too often in today's games, we're grinding hours, days, even weeks at a time to find that 0.5% increase to a stat to perfect our build. It's dull, repetitive, boring, and only appeals to the most dedicated of players. The gear system in Outriders boasts a far broader appeal with gear that makes a massive difference. I played through the majority of my experience on World Tier 6 and World Tier 7 (the highest being World Tier 15), and I was finding gear with modifications that changed my entire build.

From increasing damage to allowing my bullets to freeze my opponents to increasing the duration of an ability up to 100%, there was no illusion of progression that so many games rely on today. It's meaningful, it makes a difference, and it makes you feel a total badass every step of the way.

Outriders boasts a beautifully crafted game world, one with meaningful characters, rewarding encounters, and a variety of content. However, there are some areas where it falls short. In an effort to provide additional content to players, much of the side content can be repeated. Not a terrible idea in concept, but it does retract from the emotional impact of the characters and stories you encounter.

One particular quest comes to mind. I helped an old man clear out his home of bandits so he could return and see the graves of his family. Learning of his journey and struggles offered a more personal approach alongside a main story with a much bigger scope, but much of that was completely undone after I completed the quest. He returned to his original location and spoke with me as if nothing happened. In another quest, a character actually died, only to return to offer the quest again. While many players will appreciate the opportunity to tackle the content again, I personally felt it made much of the side content inconsequential, only offering a brief emotional experience before instantly reminding you that it's just a game.

Outriders main narrative is rather short. Depending on World Tier and other variables, you can complete the main story in 12-16 hours, which is why I've largely avoided any core details of the campaign. However, the story is worth the entry price alone. Rising conflicts between the various Enoch colonies, the constant threat of the Anomaly and the monstrosities it creates, the dwindling light of humanities last hope; it's a serious and sometimes dark story that's worlds apart from Bulletstorm. For those more interested in the long-term, there's a of end-game content between maxing out your build, finding better loot, raising the World Tier, and completing challenging Expeditions.

If it wasn't for the technical problems Outriders could well have taken the crown for the best release of the year thus far. While my single player adventure was nearly completely clear of any technical issues or bugs, multiplayer is a little rough around the edges. Several crashes, falling through the floor, getting booted back to the lobby. The connection issues are a huge problem at the moment but once these are ironed out, there's a real gem in Outriders.

You will struggle to find another third-person shooter that has innovated as much on the formula as Outriders, not since Gears of War took the genre to new heights. The combat is absolutely incredible, the classes ooze with potential and development, the world is gritty and engaging, and the ability to enjoy all of this alongside good friends just heightens the entire experience.
