Back in August 2024, we saw Final Fantasy XIV Mobile appear on a list of China's National Press and Publication Administration approved games, and now Square Enix, Lightspeed Studios, and Tencent announced a mobile version of FFXIV. Playtests will appear in China first, followed by ones worldwide. It is already possible to pre-register for this version at the official site.
In the initial announcement, Final Fantasy XIV Mobile is described as an "adaptation" of FFXIV, with elements from the MMORPG retained. The announcement video confirmed that the Disciples of War that consist of the traditional jobs and Disciples of the Land and Hand roles will all be present. In addition to the typical adventuring and raids, minigames like the Gold Saucer's chocobo racing and Triple Triad will appear. The announcement also confirmed Scions of the Seventh Dawn characters will be present as usual, with Tataru Taru and Thancred Waters both specifically being cited.

There's no timeline for when this version of the game will appear either via a beta or full version. We do know Chinese playtests will be held first. Then, there will be the worldwide launch after that.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and FFXIV Mobile is in development for Android and Apple iOS devices.

HoYoVerse released a new character trailer for Chasca, who'll be an upcoming playable character in Genshin Impact Version 5.2. As a note, the English version of the trailer indeed uses English voice acting, as opposed to how recent trailers used the Japanese voice-over.

It's also available in Japanese, Chinese, and Korean.
The trailer shows Chasca performing her duties as a Peacemaker, relying on brute force this time to stop a conflict. She doesn't immediately jump into action though, as talking and drinking are also ways to negotiate. Like other trailer for HoYoVerse games, the trailer also includes plenty of scenes showing off Chasca's animations, as well as her unique method of movement.
Chasca will be a 5-star Anemo Bow character hailing from Natlan's Flower-Feather Clan. Her banner will be in the first phase of Version 5.2, with fellow new Natlan character Ororon also debuting on that banner. Judging on what we know about her kit, Chasca will be a DPS character who can also make traveling around Teyvat a lot easier.
Genshin Impact is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. The Xbox Series X of the game will come out on November 20, 2024, which is the same date that Version 5.2 will come out on.

Good Smile Company has opened up pre-orders for a Pop Up Parade figure of Male Byleth from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. As a note, those who want a Female Byleth Pop Up Parade will need to wait until pre-orders open in December 2024.
The Fire Emblem: Three Houses Male Byleth Pop Up Parade figure is available for p-reorder until December 18, 2024. It costs 5500 JPY from the Japanese store and will ship out in June 2025. Meanwhile, the North American store lists it for $33.99 and will deliver it in Q4 2025.
As a Pop Up Parade figure, the figure stands at approximately 17 and 18 centimeters in height. This Byleth figure is wielding the Sword of the Creator in a very dynamic pose, looking like he's right in the middle of combat. The pose and the way the cape lifts up also shows off details that you might have missed about Byleth's design, such as the dagger around his waist or the singular knee guard.
Good Smile Company announced the two Byleth figures back in July 2024. We can see in the announcement that Male Byleth's pose in the concept art is exactly the same as the final product. The Female Byleth also will look like she's in the middle of combat, though her stance differs from her male counterpart.

Until November 25, 2024, Nintendo Switch Online users will be able to redeem Pokemon Scarlet and Violet avatars and accessories. This is the first wave, and there will be a weekly rotating set of rewards until January 6, 2025. [Thanks, PokeJungle!]
The first wave of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet avatars and accessories focus on characters from the DLC. Aside from Carmine and Kieran, you can also get Pokemon like Ogerpon, Black Rayquaza, and Terapagos. Some of the backgrounds and frames are a little less obviously from Pokemon. For example, you can get a frame that looks similar to the Terastalize phenomenon or a background that looks like one of the ground murals in the Paldea region.
We will have to wait until next Monday to see what other avatars Nintendo Switch Online users will be able to get. So far, we don't know if we'll be able to see characters or Pokemon from previous generations. As the latest Pokemon game, it's of little surprise that the first wave focuses on Scarlet and Violet. Not only that, but it is the best-selling Pokemon game within its native country of Japan, beating out Red and Green for the first time in 28 years.
The latest mainline entry in the Pokemon franchise, Scarlet and Violet, is readily available on the Nintendo Switch.

Pokemon X & Y hold a really special place in my heart. I was still a teen, thrust out into the world and forced to figure everything out on my own. I was living in a hotel not sure what to do and barely starting to dive into video game journalism. It was a rough time and one of the few highlights then was X & Y. But the ultimately mess release of Pokemon X & Y can finally be fixed with Legends Z-A's release.
I still remember the midnight launch I went to for Pokemon X & Y at the local mall like yesterday. I was living across the street and working there at the mall part-time. This rather low point in my life was rescued by Pokemon X & Y and Final Fantasy XIV, the latter of which you likely see me talk about all the time here.
However, I rarely talk about how important X & Y were to me. Despite being one of my least favorite games in the series, I played them more than any else. I spent upwards of a thousand hours in these two versions. I collected every Pokemon, completed the Pokedex for the first time, hunted for shinies for hundreds of hours, and so much more.
You could say I see the potential in these games more than most because of my time with it. The region of Kalos is beautifully messy. The experiment with 3D was rough but it still had some great towns and areas. I mean Lumiose City still is up there as one of the best, most unique cities in the franchise.
But there are so many flaws, too. For one, there is the unbelievably short length of the story. I beat it in about 15 hours the first time, which is far shorter than any other game to date. In addition, the region feels incomplete with the lack of a Southern Kalos area to explore. Not to mention, everything is so linear and far more than other entries. Of course, there is even easier than usual difficulty.
Pokemon X & Y feel more incomplete and rushed than any other entry in the series to date. This is especially noticeable in places like the Power Plant. There are also so few new Pokemon. It is all shame because what is here is excellent. The new Pokemon, including the legendaries and the likes of Hawlucha, Greninja, Aegislash, Mega Evolutions, and the Fairy typing are some of the best additions in the series' history.
Even the story had so much potential. The final cutscene with AZ after the battle is a real tearjerker. I mean, look at the anime adaptation and you will see this in, in my opinion, the best overall season of the entire anime series. With all of this said, Pokemon X & Y have a second chance with Legends Z-A.
If this upcoming game wants to be the best it can be, it should honestly just be a Pokemon X & Y sequel. This would be quite different from the previous Legends game that was both a prequel and the start of a new gameplay style. But this is the one chance to fix Pokemon X & Y's failures.
For starters, there is the lack of Mega Evolutions. Gen 6's first games only saw the release of a handful of Megas and not a single one from this particular Generation other than Diancie. That is honestly a shame. Give the likes of the three Kalos starters, Noivern, Hawlucha, Florges, and perhaps some of the legendaries a Mega.
Furthermore, make Lumiose City fully explorable. From what we know, the game takes place entirely in the city. So, this means no Southern Kalos or Power Plant. However, if the entire city is explorable Grand Theft Auto-style, this makes up for that. Have interiors of buildings to explore, NPCs to get side quests from, and parks to adventure through.
Above all else, this game needs a challenge and to feel complete. I'm not sure it needs the Gym Challenge, but this would be a nice touch. If it doesn't have Gyms, though, it needs an equivalent like much more trainer battles in the vein of the final one in Legends Arceus. The story needs to be more fleshed out as well with intriguing villains and arcs.
Pokemon Legends Z-A is finally the chance to give Kalos the proper treatment. More Mega Evolutions, a complete story, and a more detailed region to check out. All this while, hopefully, offering better visuals and performance than the original Pokemon X & Y, at least presumably on the Nintendo Switch 2. X & Y are the dark sheep of the Pokemon series, but it doesn't have to remain that way if The Pokémon Company fixes those many mistakes with Legends Z-A.
