     Here's Mewgenics'

The latest game from Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy developer Team Meat, here's a short look at Mewgenics' turn-based combat in action along with new details on the cat DnD RPG - which is already "super fun", despite still being two years away.

We first started hearing about Mew-genics - back when it still had a hyphen - around ten years ago, and that version was ultimately cancelled. However, back in 2018 Team Meat head Edward McMillen confirmed that Mewgenics was back in development and had been entirely rebooted.

There's only been bits and pieces on the game since but it's beginning to take shape. McMillen recently answered a few questions on Mewgenics on Twitter - including reconfirming that the current version probably won't be out until at least 2024. He also confirms that it's similar to Binding of Isaac "in terms of replayability", featuring branching chapters with zones consisting of three chapters each - and that it's basically "cat DnD".

To me, Mass Effect ends about six hours into Mass Effect 1, when I get bored and wander off to play something else. I've had ears and eyes long enough to know that people were upset about the ending of Mass Effect 3 however, even after BioWare tweaked it. The original Mass Effect 3 had various "Happy Ending Mods" to change the close of Commander Shepard's story, and now Mass Effect Legendary Edition does, too.

New World's Winter Convergence is so popular it's been extended two weeks

The New World Winter Convergence end date has been pushed back because the MMO's first holiday festival has proved too dang popular. The Winter event has now been extended two weeks to January 25, so players have until the end of the month to get those presents.

The Winter Convergence is New World's first proper event since it launched a few months ago, and it began on December 16. Apart from covering Aeternum with snow, the festival has added new quests, activities, items, weapons, and the mysterious yeti known as the Winter Wanderer - who's either a benevolent Santa or a terrible warrior.

Originally the Winter Convergence was due to end next Tuesday, January 11, but in a recent community update developer Amazon Game Studios says it's extending this two weeks - so the event won't conclude until January 25, "due to the fantastic turnout" the team has seen from the festival. Furthermore, from January 21 to 25 all of the event's giveaway items will be available to grab.

After Elden Ring, From Software might be making a new Armored Core

It's possible that Armored Core 6 may be in development at Dark Souls studio From Software as the developer's next game after Elden Ring. A new Armored Core game has long been rumoured, but now a survey is apparently going out with plots details - and even game footage.

After years of rumours, teases, and fan excitement, From Software's next game Elden Ring is finally coming out next month - barring any shocking last-minute delays - so the studio must be hard at work on its next game.  The studio has been responsible for numerous fantastic Souls-like games and many would probably assume Dark Souls 4 or Bloodborne 2 to be its next game, but instead the team could be returning to one of its older franchises.

Back in 2016, we reported that From Software had three games in development. The first two turned out to be Sekiro and Elden Ring, but director Hidetaka Miyazaki said the studio also had a "reboot" in the works - and strongly hinted at a return to Armored Core, From Software's mech series that predates Demon's Souls but hasn't had an installment since 2013.

Rust has sold over 12.4 million copies and is getting polar bears soon

As part of its end of year round-up, developer Facepunch has revealed that Rust sales have exceeded 12.4 million copies sold - with over a million DLC expansions sold too for one of the best survival games around. As for 2022, the team is planning the Rust arctic update to hit in "the very near future" - complete with polar bears.

It seems that enormously popular survival game Rust goes from strength to strength every year. In February 2021, for example, Rust reached a new peak concurrent player count record of around 245k players and the game quickly overtook Cyberpunk 2077 in Steam sales.

Now, in Facepunch's 2021 recap, the developer reveals that not only does that concurrent player count record now stand at 267k players but sales have been tremendous. Rust has surpassed 12,481,079 copies sold - that's over 12.48 million - with 1,111,846 DLC packs sold too. On Twitch, Rust reached around 1.37 million concurrent viewers - with total views amassing a staggering 1.3 billion.

What if: Kojima made Metal Gear Solid 6, and it was a horror game?

We remember Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for lots of things. An unfinished conclusion, answers to questions no one really asked, and a woefully underused Keifer Sutherland displacing David Hayter's iconic growl in Snake's shoes are all among them, and perhaps better forgotten.

But let's not forget the blood-curdling prologue. Years after its release, Snake's awakening in a Cyprus hospital that's being attacked by a ruthless hit squad remains one of the most captivating openings in the series. It's carefully paced and thick with the kind of tension you'd expect from a classic horror game, and there's even a pair of mysterious supernatural assailants that haunt Snake like menacing phantoms.

After the hype surrounding P.T., Kojima's playable teaser for the since-cancelled Silent Hills, it was clear that he longed to explore the horror genre. He's no stranger to scary material, whether it's Psycho Mantis's mind games in Metal Gear Solid, Raiden facing a trippy AI with his junk in hand in MGS2, or The Sorrow making you face all the enemies you've killed throughout MGS3.

Ex-BioShock devs are working on a South Park game

Developer Question is the studio behind The Blackout Club and The Magic Circle and is made up of veterans of the BioShock series and the South Park RPGs - and is now working on a new South Park game, that may even be a multiplayer title.

There hasn't been much movement on South Park games since the release of Ubisoft's well-received South Park: The Fractured But Whole RPG in 2017, although the show's animation studio is apparently working on its own game internally.

Well, fans can look forward to another game coming, as Question just put up a job listing for a lead level designer for an Unreal-powered title "set in the world of South Park". The listing requires experience with "multiplayer level design work", so expect the near title to include or be exclusively multiplayer. Question's previous title The Blackout Club was a co-op game about a bunch of kids sneaking around a suburban neighbourhood, and while that has more of a horror focus that sounds very South Park to me.
