Hello Kitty Island Adventure Wheatflour Wonderland Expansion Is Best Played Slowly

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is an Animal Crossing style life sim, which means it's not a game where you rush. While it doesn't always involve the same passage of time limitation as Nintendo's title, you can't (and shouldn't) try to get everything done as soon as possible. It'd be too overwhelming! Which is honestly why I waited to actually jot down my more defined thoughts on Wheatflour Wonderland, the first expansion for Hello Kitty Island Adventure, as it's the kind of massive DLC drop that feels bigger than the initial updates.

Now, Wheatflour Wonderland with Cogimyun isn't all that dissimilar from earlier free updates to Hello Kitty Island Adventure, such as City Town with Usahana and Cloud Island with Little Twin Stars Kiki and Lala. I'd say it leans more toward City Town in terms of of new additions, but it is absolutely more substantial. I can see why it's a paid addition, even thought at a glance it might seem like it has about the same number of locations as Usahana's haunt, what with the Floating Fields and Ruins and Royal Gardens. But we are getting six more cabins, nine more courses, 13 places to fast travel to, three kinds of new puzzles to solve, a new Wand tool type, and three minigames. The minigames is a big surprise of sorts, considering the base game only offered six, and the only locations to offer six or more standalone Visitor Cabin homes are the Seaside Resort and Merry Meadow spots. There are also at least 20 quests in this area, some of them tied to Cogimyun friendship levels so I haven't seen them all, which is a lot.

Part of my suggestion and assertion that you take your time with Wheatflour Wonderland is how long it can take to even start it in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Not that it is too difficult to gain access to "Potion Problems" to open it up. You need to get through the Kuromi "Potion Hunt" and Keroppi "Open the Nature Preserve" ones in the Spooky Swamp region, which is the first additional area you unlock after Seaside Resort. But as part of that you need to collect a lot of materials like a Blank Book, four Pumpkin Pies, five Glow Berries, five Pumpkins, five Spinips, and 35 Mushrooms. But once you do get in, quite a few of the substantial quests here are tied to friendship with Cogimyun. While we can use items like Friendship Blossoms and Friendship Bouquets to speed that process up, it… just isn't as much fun as taking our time. Especially when there's so much to explore.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfapVIHdRnA

Especially since Cogimyun is so cute. I think she's one of the most under-appreciated Sanrio mascot characters, and her appearance in the Hello Kitty Island Adventure Wheatflour Wonderland DLC highlights how cute she can be. She's extremely happy to see newcomers to the region, especially since it means the Wheatflour Guardians, a take on a magical girl group, could return to help revitalize and restore the area. But she's also portrayed as sympathetic as her friend Ebi Fry is missing as part of the region's storyline and when she even heads to Friendship Island for the first time, she's so overwhelmed that she turns into a (quite cute) clump of flower. Seeing her grow as an individual and become stronger through our interactions and quests feels like it should take place over more time, rather than be rushed.

The number of new crafting and collection elements also get so overwhelming if you rush. If you take your time, it is amazing. You could spend weeks getting through everything in Wheatflour Wonderland, which is what you'd want from a Hello Kitty Island Adventure expansion. There are Wheatflowers that are new. New critters are all around, and I've still yet to catch the Flowl that is tied to one of the new types of storms present there. Since we also need to make multiple Magic Wands for puzzles, as well as the optional opportunities to make critter and item wands.

Wheatflour Wonderland is a pretty massive Hello Kitty Island Adventure expansion, and I can see now after playing why it was paid and not free. There's a ton to it. The main questlines, which are so tied to Cogimyun, can take a lot of time to handle properly. The new crafting elements add a lot of options. The new critters are cute, with multiple ones with special requirements. It's the sort of DLC you take your time with, which is great for an Animal Crossing type of title.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure and the Wheatflour Wonderland expansion are available for the Switch, PS5, PC, and Apple Arcade mobile devices.

Ball x Pit could be the next big indie hit in 2025, and its release date is pretty close.

Backed by publisher Devolver Digital, Ball x Pit is available on both PC and console. We have known the release date for quite some time, but this guide will help you keep track of the exact release time.

Ball x Pit release countdown

Ball x Pit will follow the same release window on both PC and consoles. The game goes live on Oct. 15, and should go live as the countdown timer below runs out.

[hurrytimer id="1128948"]

The countdown is based on the following times.

  • 9am PT
  • 11am CT
  • 12pm ET
  • 4pm UTC
  • 5pm BST
  • 6pm CEST

While some games tend to have regional launches, Ball x Pit will release simultaneously across all regions. There's also no advanced access, so everyone begins playing at the same time.

What to expect from Ball x Pit

Ball x Pit is a roguelite where you have to weaponize balls to proceed deeper into your run. The story is set in a place called Ballbylon, which has fallen from its once great heights. Only the pit now remains, where Treasure Hunters flock to seek new treasures.

There's a Ball Fusion system that allows you to experiment with 60 random balls. You can create your own combinations to deal with enemies, and every outcome will be different. As you get further, you'll get to establish new buildings to buff your balls more and raise your chances of success.

You can also unlock different hunters to add to your skills. Every character has unique kits that you can exploit to find success. Overall, the concept of this roguelite seems pretty different, and you can also check the action out via the Xbox Game Pass.

A flying ship in Everwind.

Everwind, for now, is just a demo, but it's already a delightful experience that I can see really catching on. If you've just picked up the game, you might be as confused as I was about why your ship won't move.

So, without further ado, here's how to actually fly your ship in Everwind.

How to fly a ship in Everwind

It's actually quite simple, but it's no wonder it stumped us at first. Ships in Everwind, unlike vehicles in most games, don't run on magical fairy dust. You'll actually need to power your ship to get it to move.

All you need to do is find the Energy Generators on your ship, shown in the screenshot below, and burn wood to power the engines.

An energy generator in Everwind
Screenshot by Destructoid

Next, you'll need to place the Cockpit in order to steer your ship. You should have received one when you found your ship, so hit I on the keyboard and search your inventory. If you don't find one, you might need to restart. Alternatively, you can try to build one, but it might take a while to get the resources.

With the cockpit set down and the engines running, you can tap W to increase forward speed and S to decrease it. Shift lowers your vertical speed, making you sink down, while hitting the spacebar raises your vertical speed.

And just like that, you're a seasoned... uh, captain? Maybe pilot? Whatever, you have your very own flying ship. The rest is up to you. Don't feel too bad when you inevitably crash, though; those ships aren't the easiest to control!

Player fighting a Skeleton Enemy in Everwind

Is it just me, or is the survival crafting genre having something of a golden age these last few years? We've had countless titles, including Palworld, Enshrouded, and Runescape Dragonwilds as standout entries.

But while this new title clearly draws inspiration from many others, it feels most like a satisfying mixture of Minecraft and Valheim, with enough unique twists to make it feel brand-new. I never played Enshrouded, to this day, but I can safely say that the combat in Palworld—and most modern crafting survival games—feels a little too easy for the most part.

So color me surprised when I had some trouble with Everwind, a new title by developers Enjoy Studio S. A. and publishers Bohemia Interactive. Here's how it all went.

I spawned into the world, which I aptly named "the world" given that I'm such a creative genius, and dove straight into ignoring all the tutorial messages, because who has time for that? I cut through a few enemies and made my way down a tower, finally emerging into the world.

I'd taken a slight beating, but I was in pretty good shape. Until the skeletons outside saw me. I guess they didn't take kindly to me slaying all their comrades inside. What felt like a never-ending horde of them attacked me, though it was only really about four of them. These things are tough – they don't go down easy, and they seem to hit harder than I do.

Thankfully, I survived this encounter and limped my way over to an archery range to take stock and hopefully cook some food. Some animals gave up their pixels so I could get meat, and I cooked up some eggs I found.

With this, I headed out into the water to find a... flying ship?

A flying ship in Everwind.
Screenshot by Destructoid

Yes, it is as cool as it sounds. It's a literal flying ship. And I quickly figured out how to fly it, and then set off for a curious question mark that had appeared on my screen, up above, on a floating island. Yeah, did I mention this game has flying ships, challenging combat, and floating islands?

Uh oh... I can see a lot of my future free time getting sucked into this title.

It took a long, long time to get to the island. It turns out ships aren't all that good at flying upwards, who knew? I reached my destination, quickly bested two more skeletons, and then opened the door to a tower to find something called a Skeleton Champion. I'll admit it, I panicked. I even ran when I realized I was outmatched. It's at this point that flying ships get a little less cool.

A Skeleton Champion in Everwind.
Screenshot by Destructoid

You see, most of the ship is underwater when it's in the water, so you can actually get on the thing. But when you've parked your flying ship on land, well, there's no easy way back up. Of course, there's a way to teleport back to your ship, but remember, I've been ignoring the tutorial messages, so I've no idea how to do that.

So, in the end, the only option was to fight. This thing tracked me like a bloodhound on steroids, and short of jumping off the island and to my death, I couldn't shake it. So, fight I did, and after my sword broke, I just went on punching it in the face. Very satisfying, but inevitably, this led to my untimely death.

A player dies in Everwind.
Screenshot by Destructoid

Well, I'm hooked. Maybe, backed up by a few friends, I'll pay Mister Skeleton Champion another visit in the future, but for now, I think I've had quite enough.

If you'd like to prove you're a better gamer than me and cut down the Skeleton Champion with a wooden sword, all while wearing an old wooden cutting board and some rope as "armor," please, be my guest, and share your story in the comments. You can grab the demo on Steam, and it's available this week only, until Oct 20. Maybe it becomes available again in future, but if I were you, I wouldn't take that chance. It really is a must-play.

Players catching a fish in Blue Protocol Star Resonance

Blue Protocol Star Resonance offers different side activities to engage in, and fishing can be an extremely rewarding task.

While the MMO is not a fishing sim, there are some skills to master if you want to be an expert angler. You'll first need to activate the side activity by making a fair amount of progress along the main story. This guide will help you with the whole process of fishing in Blue Protocol Star Resonance.

How to unlock fishing in Blue Protocol Star Resonance

The first task is to complete the beginner quests on the main storyline until you reach Fireworks Fantasy Night. Finish that main mission and start the Invitation from the Fishing Guild quest. To begin this quest, speak with any Fishing Guild member in Asterleeds. It's situated to the north of the teleport portal in Celstine Plaza.

Speak with the member, and she will hand you a Regular Pole and five Beginner's Bait. You'll be tasked with catching an Astercad.

Fishes in Blue Protocol Star Resonance

How to fish in Blue Protocol Star Resonance

Here are all the key steps to complete the fishing activity.

  • The first task is to cast your line, and the bobber will float on the water. The bobber will keep floating until a fish bites.
  • A visual exclamation appears, and your duel with the fish begins. You'll have to pay attention to your Line Tension bar. The bar has three zones - left, right, and center.
  • The fish will move to one of the three zones, and you'll have to align your pole with the same zone to reduce the tension. If the Line Tension gets too high, it will snap, and you'll lose the fish.
  • Once the Fishing Pole icon is at the same position as the fish icon, you can reel it in by using the left mouse button. If the fish gets too tired, you'll be able to reel it in to get your catch.

Once you complete the first mission, you'll get the following rewards.

  • 5 Regular Bait
  • 5 Precise Bait
  • 300 Luno (Bound)
  • 30,000 Adventurer EXP

You're free to catch any fish and use any spot as per your liking after you clear the Invitation from the Fishing Guild quest.

Key art shows mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y

I have been following Pokémon Legends: Z-A leaks for a while, and I was impressed this weekend by how much more complex and real they've become. Just a few weeks ago, all we had were alleged Mega Evolution descriptions, and now we have a full list of sprites of all Pokémon in the game (if you believe the leakers) that includes said Megas and their shiny forms.

Other people shared how the title screen of the game changes after you finish it, allegedly. This is all happening four days before Legends Z-A even releases for us.

The Nintendo Switch's vulnerability to piracy is one reason why leaks this deep are possible. Users with early access to a physical copy of Legends: Z-A and the knowledge to hack it can pull any information they want from the cartridge. The brave (or stupid) ones turned the game into a ROM to leak it online, ignoring Nintendo's aggressive history of intellectual property protection with lawsuits.

While the legality or morality of extracting and releasing a game this early is questionable, it's undeniable that the chaos it creates is fun to watch. On Friday, data miners and leakers were fighting on Twitter, claiming each had the real leaks and pointing fingers at others for just chasing clout. Some of their followers didn't pick a side and instead got mad at the leakers because they were gatekeeping the game files. Three days later, more and more people say they have early access to the real game.

This whole mess about "is the game really out," "is the information really correct," and "are the leaks even real," is what makes the leaks appealing. It's the thrill of surprise.

But Legends: Z-A should be the last Pokémon game to give us this thrill. It should be the final mainline game on the Switch. Whatever title comes next will already be in the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives timeline, since that's the fate of most Nintendo new games that will release after February 2026.

Unless Nintendo really wants to keep supporting the Switch Pokémon player base for a while, whatever game comes next year, likely Generation 10, will not release on the Switch 1. And if it's not on the first Switch, it will not be leaked or datamined early like Legends: Z-A.

Now, the Switch 2 could get hacked by then, but even the Switch 2 hacking community on Reddit doesn't believe that today. All the exploits hackers used on the Switch, both in software and hardware, have been fixed by Nintendo on the Switch 2. The company added extra controls to detect and ban people abusing exploits.

With the Nintendo Switch 2 seemingly impossible to crack, and future games not releasing on the Switch, it means that if you like leaks, it's time to really cherish the Pokémon Legends Z-A chaos that is happening right now, because it likely won't come back too soon.

If you don't like it, you can just take a deep breath and relax because the next Pokémon game will probably not leak, or at least not leak to the extent we're seeing today. You will be free from spoilers until the launch day.

Or so we hope.

A close up reveals Mega Malamar's face

There's not long to go before Pokémon Legends Z-A releases worldwide, and this guide will help you keep track of the upcoming launch.

The game is currently available for pre-order in both Digital and Physical formats (specific to certain regions), and you can grab a copy to set yourself up for the launch. While the launch will happen at midnight for most regions, the format is different if you're located in the United States.

Pokémon Legends Z-A release countdown

Pokémon Legends Z-A will be going live on Oct. 16 for almost all regions worldwide, unless you're situated in the central and western regions of the US. The countdown below is based on Chicago Time and marks the exact point when the game becomes available in the US.

[hurrytimer id="1128851"]

The countdown is based on the following times.

  • EDT 12am (Oct. 16)
  • CDT 11pm (Oct. 15)
  • PDT 9pm (Oct. 15)

If you're located outside the United States, Legends Z-A will go live when the clock strikes midnight in your region. Gamers in New Zealand will be able to access the game as soon as possible, while the US is likely to be the last.

How to play Pokémon Legends Z-A early

Video games with regional launches allow you to play early by manipulating your device settings. In the case of Pokémon Legends Z-A, the matters aren't that simple. I have added instructions that will allow you to play early, irrespective of your region, if you're willing to do all the hard work.

  • Create a New Zealand-based account on the Nintendo website, and activate it immediately.
  • Purchase AUD Estore cards; non-region cards or PayPal won't work.
  • Redeem the codes to add funds to your wallet and make sure you have enough to purchase the game.
  • Open your console and log in with your account. Open the eShop, and it will open the New Zealand version.
  • Purchase the game and wait for it to be midnight in New Zealand.

It's pretty apparent that if you have already purchased the game on your original account, you will be unable to use this trick (unless you spend the same amount and get an extra copy).

The Forgehammer on the left and Jabel posing on the right in Kingshot

When I finally reached Town Center level 20 in Kingshot, I was excited that I could finally use the Forgehammer. I had been randomly getting it from events, and now I could finally upgrade gear with it. I quickly realized that actually, I couldn't. At least not until I had the right equipment.

The Forgehammer in Kingshot can only be used in the Mastery Forging of Mythic gear. That means you can only spend them on pieces of armor with a Mythic tag on them, which have a golden background like that of the Forgehammer and of SSR character-exclusive gear.

If you don't have Mythic gear, you need to get at least one piece first to use the Forgehammer.

How to get Mythic gear in Kingshot

The Mythic Gear Choice chest on the left, the Mythic gear piece on the right.
Arena is where you guarantee Mythic gear. Screenshots and editing by Destructoid.

If you're a free-to-play governor, the best way to get Mythic gear is in the Shop under the Arena tab, where you can buy one Custom Mythic Hero Gear Chest per week for 12,000 Arena Tokens. I reached this amount after 18 days of playing five Arena matches per day. You can get there faster than I did if you buy extra daily Arena attempts with Gems and rank high on the daily and seasonal Leaderboards.

If you're a spender, you can buy packs with Lucky Hero Gear Chests for a chance to get extra Mythic Gear, though it's not a guaranteed drop or choice like in the Arena chest.

Once you select the Mythic Gear you want, equip it in your strongest SSR hero. A Judicator's Armet for Jabel was my pick. Then, on the gear menu, you can select the armor, select Mastery Forging, and tap the Forge button to increase one Mastery level of that Mythic armor piece for 10 Forgehammers. Doing so will give a 10% boost to the gear's Strength and Stats, which is why it's important that you also enhance the gear with materials as much as possible.

Now, keep grinding Kingshot events to get extra Forgehammers or wait for special premium packs to buy some more and level up your gear.

blade x zombie sword tier list and guide

The best sword in Blade X Zombies depends on two factors, AOE/wave clear damage and single-target damage for bosses. Each sword is better in one category than others but the best one is good at both as you'll see below. Here's my Blade X Zombies tier list and guide.

Blade X Zombie Weapons Tier List

blade x zombie sword tier list

There's no bad sword in Blade X Zombies since any one of them can be good with upgrades and Awakenings but some are better than others. For example, Hallow Scythe and Dark Blade have the best wave clears while Yamato has the best boss-killer damage. Check out the individual ranking reasons for each sword below to find the best sword in Blade X Zombies for you.

S-Tier Swords

S-Tier Swords Why S-Tier

Hallow Scythe
Mythic - Limited
• Unlike other weapons, you get 8 skills in total with the scythe that are all amazing at outputting a ton of AOE damage
• That said they're also great boss-killers when combined together with dodges and parries
• Just the fact that you have 8 skills to spam means that your DPS rotation is longer so the first skills you use have time to recharge
• This creates an almost infinite loop of skills which drastically boosts your DPS since you'll just have to M1 shortly in between
• Basically, you get the best of both worlds from Storm Breaker's AOE and Yamato's boss killing damage

Yamato
Mythic
• Yamato is probably the best boss killer DPS weapon in the game because its ultimate shreds bosses
• From my testing it has been known to out damage Hallow Scythe in specific scenarios where you're only going for bosses
• That said Hallow Scythe has better AOE DPS
• Still, Yamato's AOE is decent and you'll melt boss encounters so in my opinion this is the second-best sword in Blade X Zombies
• Just watch out for the lower HP, you need to learn to parry and dodge well to make the most of Yamato

Dark Blade
Legendary
• Dark Blade/Yoru is legit a Mythic weapon in disguise since it has so much AOE DPS
• It out-damages Storm Breaker for wave clearing and is overall one of the fastest weapons in the game for wave clearing behind Scythe
• It even has good ranged moves to avoid damage, especially with the ultimate where it out-damages most swords if you land all three slashes
• Last but not least is the Z for defense which is great if you're low or facing a boss

A-Tier Swords

A-Tier Swords Why A-Tier

Shadow Blade
Mythic
• Cid's blade is really good, it's A+ and the best in the A-Tier by far
• I put it in A-Tier because there are better weapons for wave clear and single-target boss damage
• Still, Shadow Blade is either second or third-best in those categories so I felt like A-Tier was perfect
• Cid has an excellent move set for wave clearing like Scythe and Dark Blade with tons of AOE, I just felt those two mentioned did better so they're S

Storm Breaker
Mythic - Limited
• Storm Breaker is a weird one because you have an amazing Ult (It got buffed recently) and your C and V are really good AOE DPS
• That said the other moves cannot compete with the S-Tiers so I put it in A-Tier
• Your M1s are also a bit awkward
• It's still a really good weapon for wave clears with a lot of AOE and great stats so I think A-Tier is perfect for it

Excalibur
Legendary
• Excalibur is basically a slightly worse version of Shadow Blade/Cid's Sword
• The movesets are similar and great for weave clearing but Cid is better at it and then Yoru then Scythe as #1
• So I feel like Excalibur is a good sword for the bottom of the A-Tier
• It's a great alternative for AOE nuke damage

B-Tier Swords

B-Tier Swords Why B-Tier

Dragon Slayer
Rare
• Dragon Slayer is a worse version of Storm Breaker
• The spin is the best for AOE apart from the ultimate, it's just that you have limited mobility for it
• The other moves are all fairly decent for AOE damage but there are better options

Katana
Common
• I actually feel like Katana has a really good moveset but you need it Awakened for better stats
• The moveset is highly mobile with the dashing slashes so it gives you kiting potential
• That said the DPS just isn't there so B-Tier is perfect

C-Tier Swords

C-Tier Swords Why C-Tier

Water Blade
Epic
• In my opinion the Water Blade doesn't have a good moveset nor does it do good damage
• It's worse than Katana because at least Katana has good moves for mobility
• Water Blade moves are just slow, have low combos and DPS and are overall awkward to use
• I would spend my resources on something else and wouldn't really upgrade Water Blade

That's it for my Blade X Zombies sword tier list and guide. If you like Blade X Zombies then I recommend checking out my Hunty Zombies weapon tier list for another zombie horde action game.
