Fan-made Elden Ring animation makes fun of famous boss line

Fans will know that during the many attempts required to take down some of the more deadly Elden Ring bosses, some of their distinctive voice lines will often get stuck in your head. Now, a fan-made Elden Ring animation makes fun of one of the RPG game's most memorable moments by twisting it into a rather goofy but funny scene featuring a gargantuan runebear.

Warning: spoilers for an early-game Elden Ring boss fight follow.

Godrick the Grafted is one of the first major boss fights most Elden Ring players will find themselves tackling. He is also responsible for one of the more notable mid-fight moments to occur in the mammoth open-world game. Halfway through the fight, Godrick slams his giant axe down upon one of his many arms, slicing half of it clean off. He then grafts a nearby dragon head to the limb, bringing it to life and raising it into the air.

MultiVersus fighting game teases the actual Lord of the Rings

The open beta release of the Warner Smash Bros fighting game MultiVersus is imminent and there haven't been any leaks or announcements since the alpha in May. Now, it looks like the next MultiVersus fighter - or crossover - is either being teased or has leaked, and it's none other than the Lord of the Rings himself.

Before MultiVersus was even confirmed, initial leaks reported that Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings would be a part of a new Smash Bros-style fighter from Warner Bros. More recent datamines from May's alpha test confirmed Gandalf and also reported Legolas as an unannounced new fighter too.

Tolkien characters still haven't been announced for MultiVersus, but a new tweet has seemingly either leaked the Lord of the Rings crossover - or deliberately teased it. The tweet shows two pictures of a stage from the game, but as user @dwonkt points out, one of them clearly shows the glowing Eye of Sauron reflected in the water. In the alpha, the stage itself clearly features a sinister black tower in the background.

Bethesda hosts Elder Scrolls Online streamer charity event

Bethesda is partnering with a number of The Elder Scrolls Online streamers for a charity event aiming to raise money for No Kid Hungry, a charity that works to prevent childhood hunger in the United States. The event is running from July 10-17, and features ten notable streamers from the MMORPG's community who will be taking it in turns to host special charity shows with a selection of giveaways.

The Give A Sweetroll 2022 charity drive is being run in partnership with No Kid Hungry's own streaming initiative, Stream NKH. Bethesda will be hosting the featured streamers on their main Twitch channel, so you can go there at any point during the campaign period to see which of the community members from the official Elder Scrolls Online stream team is currently live.

Donations are being collected through the Give a Sweetroll Tiltify page, which includes the individual campaigns for each of the streamers - so you can choose to donate directly to a specific one if you'd like or just give your money to the overall campaign. At the time of writing, the campaign is closing in on $3,000 dollars raised in its first day as it works towards a goal of $30,000.

Assassin's Creed Liberation Steam is gone, and soon you can't play it

The only Assassin's Creed game with a black female protagonist has been pulled from Steam. Ubisoft has delisted the Assassin's Creed Liberation Steam edition, so the action-adventure game can no longer be bought - and what's worse, even if you own it already, it looks like from September you won't be able to play it.

Assassin's Creed Liberation HD, the remastered version of the PSP game that ties into the events of Assassin's Creed III, was released in 2014 and is unlikely to be anyone's favourite Assassin's Creed game. Ubisoft didn't include it in the list of games it's pulling support from in 2022, but it has now been delisted from Steam "at the request of the publisher."

Now, normally when a game gets pulled from sale, you can still play it if you already own it. Rockstar's GTA trilogy, for example, can be downloaded and played by anyone who bought them. The Assassin's Creed Liberation HD Steam page, on the other hand, states that the game "will not be accessible following September 1st, 2022."

Last Call BBS is a Greatest Hits Collection and Tribute

Last Call BBS is a collection of games that may or may not seem familiar. After all Exapunks' Hack*Match and Eliza's Kabufuda Solitaire are both here. There's also a take on Solitaire called Sawayama Solitaire. But they're all puzzle games designed to make someone think. They're also a way to close out a period of time, as Zachtronics announced it will be a last title. Each one is special in its own way and feels unique, making it a fun collection of games that all feel "great" in their own way. At the same time, it is a salute to how PC gaming used to be.

Last Call BBS begins with the player "setting up" a Z5 Powerlance PC. You have access to the System, which lets you change the collection's settings. There's the Sawayama Solitaire already downloaded. Messages are left to you on a HandyMate by the PC's former owner. These gradually tell you how to find games and offer insights into each title you acquire. Should you actually want to start playing, you need to open up Drive 0 and hop onto Netronics Connect to access the different games via a BBS. Each one actually takes some time to "download," complete with modem sounds, and you need to wait for your download quota to cooldown before acquiring more games. The aesthetic is absolutely on-point. Every UI is designed to make this feel more like finding an old computer, rather than buying a collection of games.

Last Call BBS is a Greatest Hits Collection and Tribute

As for the games themselves, they go between the completely original and unusual and the familiar. As mentioned before Hack*Match and Kabufuda Solitaire both appeared before in different ways. The versions here are either demakes, in the case of Kabufuda Solitaire, or an even larger version with extra single and multiplayer features, like Hack*Match. They along with Dungeons & Diagrams and Sawayama Solitaire, feel like new takes on classic titles you remember. Dungeons & Diagrams is a take on nonograms, as you're attempting to create dungeon maps via coordinate information. Meanwhile Sawayama Solitaire is another take on Solitaire.

The other games feel a bit more original, due to either their gameplay or premise. 20th Century Food Court is all about timing, while also feeling a bit like a coding game. You need to ensure every order is made accurately, with parts coming together at the right times. ChipWizard Professional uses puzzles to build integrated circuits. So it can look and feel more complex than it is. Also, again, it feels like a coding sort of game. Steed Force Hobby Studio is about assembling Gunpla-like models. X'BPGH: The Forbidden Path is a bit foreboding, due to the cellular automation you're trying to put together to, well, build a body. It's complex and requires a lot of trial and error!

Last Call BBS is a Greatest Hits Collection and Tribute

In each case, it might be tempting to leap in. Don't you dare. Each of Last Call BBS' games is incredibly unique. They also all provide a comprehensive tutorial explaining how they work with written and visual cues. So say you go into Dungeons & Diagrams without any context. You'll never know every monster is at the end of a dead end or treasure is in a 3x3 room. With other games, they're critical to find out how to place and remove necessary parts. Not to mention, all of them have the same sort of context and ambiance as everything else in the compilation, keeping the mood going. Also, paying attention to the difficulty level in the BBS itself is wise. For example, it lets you know Steed Force Hobby Studio is the game to play to relax, while X'BPGH is… not. I'd honestly have liked some better tutorials in game for games like it and 20th Century Food Court, rather than resorting to trial-and-error.

Still, it feels like Last Call BBS is a great way to say goodbye. This is a fantastic collection of games, with each one being special in its own way. It also is the sort of compilation in which there will absolutely be one game folks will love. Sure, some games might temporarily make you feel like you're not smart enough until you "get" it. (X'BPGH definitely taught me things.) But it is worth the effort.

Last Call BBS is available for PCs via Steam Early Access. It is also on Xbox Game Pass.

V Rising mod camera turns it into a Skyrim survival game

V Rising is a fantastic vampire game but a possible sticking point for some players is the Diablo-style top-down camera angle. This updated V Rising mod can easily change that by adding seamless first-person and third-person camera options - essentially creating a survival game version of Skyrim or Elden Ring.

The V Rising camera has been around for a little while but it's undergone a lot of revisions, improvements, and bug fixes since its initial release - to the point where it's now pretty seamless, and incredibly easy to install. Grab the BepInExPack and paste the contents of the folder there into the main V Rising Steam folder, then put the .dll files for the Modern Camera mod into a new 'plugins' folder within the BepInEx folder.

Then load V Rising, play any server apart from an official one, then scroll with the mouse wheel to zoom in the camera. You can either stop at an MMO-style third-person or head straight to Ark: Survival Evolved first-person.

Skyrim mod turns College of Winterhold into an actual school

If you felt a little disappointed that Skyrim's College of Winterhold quest line skipped over the opportunity to do any actual studying in favour of high drama, a new Skyrim mod might be the perfect solution for you. The mod aims to make your first few hours at the snowy school feel a little more like you're actually attending lessons and learning about spells, rather than just being hurled immediately into the deep end with the RPG game's original trip to Saarthal.

The College of Winterhold Quest Expansion mod, created by JaySerpa, adds seven new quests that players will be given once they complete the first quest to join the college. JaySerpa explains that "these quests are not your 'save the world' epic questlines, but basic entry-level apprentice lessons." Once all of the lessons are complete, the fantasy game's usual college quests will pick back up again, allowing the pace of action to ramp up once more.

The lessons are split up across the five major schools of Skyrim magic - alteration, destruction, illusion, conjuration, and restoration - as well as one lesson on enchanting and another that aims to improve your studying prowess, an essential skill for any budding mage. Each lesson starts with an introductory lecture teaching you the importance of the skill, followed by a task where applying your newfound knowledge would be useful.

Apex Legends pro refuses to kill disconnected opponent in $2m series

Few things give us faith in humanity like a spot of good sportsmanship, and fans are celebrating Apex Legends pro Phillip 'ImperialHal' Dosen after his spur-of-the-moment call not to shoot an opponent that had disconnected during the battle royale game's ongoing ALGS championship. Dosen spotted the enemy standing motionless on the field, but decided not to shoot them, realising that they had likely lost connection or crashed.

The Apex Legends Global Series 2022 championship runs from July 7 - 10 with a total prize pool of $2 million USD, and Dosen's team TSM was looking a little shaky in its bracket positioning - so the players needed every point they could get. Nevertheless, upon spotting the stationary foe, Dosen places his sights over them for a second before declaring, "This guy crashed!" He pauses for a moment, then continues, telling his teammates, "Don't shoot him, don't shoot him bro, he crashed."

In a clip of the moment shared by AlphaIntel, the TSM players look around nervously for his teammates, trying to determine what they should do. But Dosen remains adamant: "He 100 percent tabbed out or crashed or something. Don't shoot them - it's Scarz," referring to one of TSM's notable rival organisations. In the end, TSM decide to back off, with Dosen sliding into a nearby building as some shots start pinging his way.

A Halo Infinite prequel is coming and fans hate it's not DLC

A Halo Infinite prequel story is coming in August, which is set to explain some of the events that happened in the six months before Master Chief reawakened and arrived on Zeta Halo - but it's not new Halo Infinite DLC for the FPS game, and fans are upset and confused by this.

Halo: The Rubicon Protocol is actually a new Halo novel by author Kelly Gay, who wrote the Rion Forge/Ace of Spades Halo books, and it's the first official tie-in story for Halo Infinite. It explains what happens to the Spartans on Zeta Halo and goes further into the Banished invasion before Master Chief was revived. It releases on August 9 and you can check out a preview here.

Interesting stuff, but fans are upset and even confused that such a vital story is being left as a tie-in novel rather than campaign DLC. The Halo Infinite campaign only explains what happened in those six months via audio logs, and it seemed a natural fit for an expansion. While campaign co-op is coming, no additional story DLC for Halo Infinite single-player has been announced.

Diablo Immortal Shadow War bug affects

A Diablo Immortal Shadow War bug described as "game-breaking" is affecting some of the RPG game's top player guilds, causing them to miss out on the chance to take on Immortals in the Rite of Exile. A Blizzard community lead has acknowledged the issue, saying that it "appears to have impacted a good majority of servers" where Shadow Wars have been active across Asia, EU, and Oceania. Blizzard says that a hotfix was deployed prior to the event taking place on the free-to-play game's North American and South American servers.

The issue was first raised by several threads on the Diablo Immortal subreddit claiming that players who had won their group bracket in the Shadow War were not being placed into the top ten Dark Clans list on their server. This is the ranking which determines the ten groups who will take place in the Rite of Exile to take on the server's highest-ranked Immortals for a chance to replace them as the new ruling clan of the server.

According to several player reports in the threads, it appears that both teams in the finals were either rematched against a clan they had already beaten in the bracket earlier in the week, or appeared to go up against a no-show opponent, only to be told they had lost as the other clan had also "won" their respective match (which also didn't take place against the correct intended opponent).

It looks like Fortnite weapon charms are coming at last

It seems that Fortnite weapon charms may become a new customisation option for the phenomenal battle royale game, as prominent leakers have again uncovered evidence that Epic is working on gun bling - but will they actually arrive in the current Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3?

While it seems like the majority of multiplayer games on PC seem to feature optional weapon charms as slightly annoying customization options, such as Apex Legends, Fortnite does not. There have been rumours over the years that Epic was working on little cosmetic charms for Fortnite's weapons, and even seemed to be teasing it for Chapter 2 Season 7, but the feature still isn't here.

Dataminers have discovered that Epic is working on a cosmetic archiving feature, presumably to tidy up the in-game locker. Among the data strings listed for archiving includes items, emotes, and... weapon charms, it seems.

Kojima Productions

Kojima Productions, the studio headed by Metal Gear and Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima, publicly denounced "fake news and rumors" in a statement on social media. The statement comes after Hideo Kojima was falsely identified as the alleged assassin of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The statement was delivered by the official Twitter account of Kojima productions in Japanese and English. They do not reference the misidentification incident directly, but state that "[Kojima Productions] do not tolerate such libel and will consider taking legal action in some cases." Kojima himself did not comment directly on the incident, but shared the Tweet via his personal Twitter account.

https://twitter.com/KojiPro2015_EN/status/1545751079685484544

The original allegations Kojima Productions may be responding to were publicized by French far-right politician Damien Rieu on July 8, 2022. He shared a Tweet that falsely claimed the "far-left" perpetrated the assassination of Shinzo Abe. The false claim included three photos of Hideo Kojima. One photo showed Kojima wearing a Soviet-style Ushanka hat, and two showed him with images and art of Argentinian revolutionary Che Guevara. The accusation spread, going as far as Greek news channel ANT1 TV Greece, which shared the same images and falsely identified Kojima as the alleged assassin in a report. ANT1 removed the video, and Rieu deleted the tweet and apologized. Rieu admitted (in French) that he was at fault "for not fact-checking before sharing."

The alleged killer is actually Tetsuya Yamagami, a 41 year-old resident of Nara city. He was arrested at the scene after using what looked to be a homemade firearm to shoot Shinzo Abe. Abe was in Nara campaigning for a local political candidate.

Doraemon Story of Seasons

Doraemon Story of Seasons: Friends of the Great Kingdom is coming in 2022. To promote the release Bandai Namco uploaded a new trailer that shows off its second Doraemon-themed take on farming. This follows the initial Doraemon Story of Seasons announcement at the June 28, 2022 Nintendo Mini-Direct.

Check out  out below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyelIfpvO1E

The Doraemon Story of Seasons trailer sets up the game's peaceful premise. As it's the second farming sim based on the long-running anime and manga franchise Doraemon, the game brings its cast to a new locale. Noby, Doraemon, and their friends continue their pastoral existence on an unfamiliar fantasy planet. They'll set up their farm, harvest crops, tend to their animals, and go fishing.

The sequel promises additional gameplay courtesy of Doraemon's famed gadgets. These gadgets include items like the Time Kerchief, which can speed up the hatching of an egg. Other gadgets allow Noby to move planted trees or harvest unusual crops. Other new tools like a "Mini Raincloud" and a "Farm Restaurant" expand the homestead management options available to Doraemon and crew. Further, the trailer showed scenes of the gang sharing a meal, enjoying seasonal events, and doing what looked to be some underwater exploration.

The first Doraemon Story of Seasons game launched in 2019 and 2020 on Switch, PC, and PS4. Based on the trailer, Doraemon Story of Seasons: Friends of the Great Kingdom launches in 2022 for PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

stray trophies

Powerpyx has revealed the full list of trophies and accomplishments that you will be able to obtain in Stray. The upcoming indie game will have you take on the role of a nameless cat in its journey through a post-apocalyptic world, with a robot as your only companion.  In total, there are a total of 25 trophies for Stray.

You will be able to obtain 7 Gold, 9 Silver, and 8 Bronze trophies in Stray. There will also be, of course, the one Platinum trophy after you finish collecting everything else. You will be able to obtain trophies by completing missions in a certain way. For example, 'Can't Cat-ch Me' is the accomplishment for completing the first Zurk pursuit without being caught. The description did not elaborate on what a Zurk actually is, though.

However, there are also trophies you can get for completing mundane tasks a certain amount of times. Meowing for 100 times, jumping for 500 times, and sleeping for more than one hour will each net you a Silver trophy. You can get trophies for dying a certain amount of times, or completing the game for under 2 hours. As a reminder, the Stray developers have said in the past that it would take 8 hours to finish the game.

Stray will come out on July 19, 2022 for the Windows PC, PS4, and PS5.
