This Skyrim sale is the perfect antidote after too much Starfield

If you're done with Starfield and want to revisit Bethesda's most longstanding RPG to date you'll be glad to know that Skyrim is currently dirt cheap as part of a new sale. I know talk of Skyrim isn't exactly new, but who can argue with such a good deal for a modern classic.

Diablo 4 Steam reviews are down to 'mixed,' less than 2,500 players

The Diablo 4 Steam reviews are already 'mixed,' as players take to Valve's platform to share their responses to Blizzard's RPG alongside the launch of Diablo 4 Season 2. Less than 24 hours since the Diablo IV Steam launch, hundreds of reviews express a combination of praise and criticism, lowering Diablo 4's current score to less than 60%. While the game has been available on PC since June, its Steam release has attracted under 2,500 players. Meanwhile, Overwatch 2, another Activision Blizzard game recently relaunched on Steam, still has an 'overwhelmingly negative' rating based on user reviews.

GTA 6 release date speculation and Rockstar Games news

When is GTA 6 coming out? Given how many years it takes to create open worlds of the same caliber as GTA 5, it's no surprise that Rockstar Games has already spent years developing GTA 6. However, like most developers, Rockstar prefers to keep its secrets close to its chest until they're close to the end of development, but we've had our first real hints about when the game's coming out.

Early gameplay footage of GTA 6 surfaced online last year, along with lines of source code from the game itself. Rockstar has issued a statement on Twitter that confirms that an unauthorized third party managed to access and download information from their systems, including development footage for the open-world game. However, its statement notes that the developers don't believe this leak should impact the development of their long-term projects or disrupt their live service games.

Back in the glorious Xbox One years, when every Microsoft executive was engaged in the act of putting one foot in their mouth while shooting it simultaneously, there was a giddy period of marketing conducted by means of Phil Spencer's T-shirts. He'd rock up on E3 stages like a cabaret dancer, touting tees with various new or elderly videogame licenses on them, and whipping older fans into a frenzy of speculation as to possible remakes or sequels. I myself had to go lie down after seeing Phil in a Phantom Dust shirt. Teaser-shirts, we should have called them. Look at him in the picture up there, showing off a chestful of Hexen. Shameless!

Sadly/happily, those halcyon days are behind us, but Phil still loves to dangle the carrot of an ancient IP now and then. Speaking on the Xbox podcast last night (while sporting a boring Halo championship jacket), he suggested that Microsoft could do more to revive their older franchises. Or at least "revisit" them in some fashion.

With the release of Intel's somewhat underwhelming 14th-gen processors today, I feel a lot of people are going to be looking once more at AMD Ryzen 7000 systems. These CPUs offer the same access to DDR5 RAM and PCIe 5.0 components as Intel's latest offerings, yet typically consume less power while delivering better gaming performance at the high end. That makes it easier to build a balanced system, especially with deals on Ryzen 7000 CPUs and motherboards starting to become more commonplace.

Case in point is this AWD-IT bundle deal on a Ryzen 5 7600X and an MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WiFi motherboard for £400, versus £445 for the two items separately. That's a pretty fair deal!

Diablo IV Inarius Wings Featured Image

While Diablo IV players started Tuesday eager to begin the Season of Blood, they instead found themselves facing an enemy very different than demons: Error Code 300010. This pesky error seems to have a preference for console players. In order to get you back to demon hunting as quickly as possible, let's go over how to deal with the Diablo IV code 300010.

    diablo iv graphics card

What is code 300010 in Diablo IV?

While the actual cause of error code 300010 isn't completely clear, it seems to happen when the game interprets your Diablo IV license as invalid. Tuesday's widespread issue could be from the new update no longer matching the game version console players are running. Since it seems like an issue on the server side, Blizzard is likely looking to address and prevent this issue in the future.

Diablo IV Season 2: Season of Blood Starts in October
    Image via Activision Blizzard

How do I fix code 300010?

There are a few things you can try to fix the issue if you're getting slowed down by code 300010. First and foremost you should make sure your internet connection is stable and that the servers themselves aren't having issues. Once you've ruled all that out, here are some things you can try:

    1. First things first, check for updates and make sure you're running the most recent version of the game (1.2.0 as of this writing). This is likely most players issue as their game version is out of sync with the server.
    2. If that fails- reboot your console. Then, relaunch Diablo IV and see if you still get the error.
    3. If that still doesn't fix the issue, uninstall the game and reinstall it.
    4. If all else fails, you may need to reach out to Diablo IV support at Blizzard.

Thankfully, Blizzard is aware of the issue and seems to be working with the community, even delaying the new season to accommodate players unable to login. Hopefully, you were able to fix code 300010 in Diablo IV using this guide, but if you didn't maybe Blizzard will put that monster in the grave permanently soon.

    Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Update

Insomniac Games posted an update regarding the upcoming release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and its day one patch on its official social media account. It is encouraged that those planning on playing the disc version of the game download update Version 1.001.002. Those with that version can get it on October 20, 2023, the day of the game's launch.

According to the announcement, the development team made significant improvements to the game before launch in order to offer a better day one experience. They have been working on these improvements since "going gold" (fully completing development of the game) one month before release. This means progress started since around September 2023. Insomniac suggested doing so before going through the first mission.

For those playing the digital version of the game, Insomniac Games offered additional insight. By pre-loading the digital version, the update Version 1.001.002 will be automatically applied. There will be no additional patch download.

Specifically, the day one update includes polish, improvements to the opening sections, some additional accessibility options, and other refinements to Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Man Arrested for Stalking in FFXIV

A 38-year-old male Tokyo resident was arrested by the Japanese police on October 17, 2023 on account of suspicious stalking within the massive multiplayer online game Final Fantasy XIV. The man has been accused of sending the 28-year-old female victim 22 threatening messages urging her to speak with him and not neglect him, lest he tell her family about their past private conversations. [Thanks, Kobe News!]

Unfortunately, the stalking behavior and threatening messages were not limited to just in the game. The offender has also been accused of sending these controlling messages through social media sites, like Line and X (Twitter). Within the game, he followed the victim's character around without permission while sending these messages. He continued to follow her even after he had been blocked.

The man has claimed that he had no romantic feelings towards the woman and denied some of the charges made against him. However, the police claim his actions are still in direct violation of Japan's Anti-Stalking Control Law, which aims to protect victims from further unwanted torment.

No further updates on his sentence have been released to the public just yet.

Final Fantasy XIV is available to play on the PS4, PS5, and PC.
