Overwatch 2 patch fixes one of its most irritating UI quirks

The mid-season Overwatch 2 patch notes include a fix for one of the most irritating quirks found in the menus of the FPS game. Along with nerfs to several of the strongest Overwatch 2 characters (except for Sojourn) and the introduction of aim assist for console players in crossplay lobbies with PC, the update resolves a visual bug that has been driving players up the wall when queuing for Overwatch 2 competitive play.

I was once a regular Counter-Strike player, but that was almost twenty years ago. What's remarkable about Valve's team shooter is how little its fundamentals have changed over those twenty years. The AWP and M4A1? Still pretty much how they were when I was first mishandling them in the Half-Life mod.

Which makes yesterday's Counter-Strike: Global Offensive update pretty remarkable. The AWP's magazine size has been cut in half and the M4A1-S now does less damage at long range.

At this point, I'd consider the wacky bugs continually introduced to The Sims 4 as more of a feature than a bug. For example, a recent update turned previously placid Sims into moody, argumentative jerks who were constantly scrapping with one another. That sounds great to me, although if you disagree there's bad news. EA Maxis say that their fix, intended to release this past week, has been delayed until early December.

There are many ways to describe something as the best. It could be amazing because it is simply phenomenal. Perhaps it is the best because it dares to be different. NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol 2 is an unexpected collection of games, pulling from both major triumphs and some of the weirder titles for the system. I mean, we have SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighters Clash and Mega Man Battle & Fighters alongside Ganbare Neo Poke-Kun.

Oh, and there are a lot of sports games.

Anyways, this is about saluting the "best" games in this compilation. Enjoy!

The Best Stand-Out Games in NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol 2

Going Through the Best of the NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol 2 Games SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters Clash

SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighters Clash

Let's be real for a moment: SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighters Clash is the best one of the games in NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol 2. It is a fantastic CCG. It pays tribute to incredible and memorable Capcom and SNK characters. It features a Code Mystics update that lets you trade and battle using the saves on your system, so you can get every card. It is very well-thought out and, whether you get it in this collection or buy it piecemeal for $7.99, it is well worth your time.

Biomotor Unitron

Biomotor Unitron

Biomotor Unitron is another NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol. 2 game available piecemeal or in this collection. It's an interesting turn-RPG about mech building and battling that adds a bit more variety to SNK's NGPC Switch ports. Now, this isn't a Final Fantasy-level epic. Even so, it offers an insightful look back and ensures this compilation is diverse. This is the "unexpected" collection, compared to the first one filled with fighters, and including an RPG helps switch things up.

Going Through the Best of the NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol 2 Games Mega Man Battle and Fighters

Mega Man: Battle & Fighters

While we got spin-offs like Mega Man Soccer worldwide, we didn't Rockman Battle & Fighters worldwide. Mega Man: Battle & Fighters remedies that. There's no English localization, but it's fairly simple to understand. Especially since there's an English manual people can turn to at any time while playing. This is a fighting game with characters like Mega Man, Proto Man, Bass, and an array of Robot Masters. It's fascinating to get functional demakes of the Mega Man: The Power Battle games and be able to play them. Especially since they're pretty fun and involve a degree of skill! It's available in the collection or alone.

The Best Weird Games in NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol 2

Ganbare Neo Poke-Kun

I'm not entirely convinced Poke-kun isn't a cockroach. The antennae. The tendency to eat food off the floor. The gnawing on doors like a wild animal. Surviving things like devastating floods and massive head trauma.

That said, this is an interesting import addition that isn't hurt by the lack of a translation! It takes some time and patience. You're essentially waiting for things to happen and prompting certain stimuli to keep Poke-kun pleased and working on the minigames. Granted, it can take hours before everything is unlocked. But it is fascinating nonetheless.

Puzzle Link 2

Puzzle Link 2

Even though Puzzle Link is a fairly straightforward puzzle game, I feel like this NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection Vol 2's primary mechanic helps it settle in the "weird" section. That's because while you're matching colored shapes, you're doing so with pipes. You can only place them certain ways, making you think about the connections to eliminate pieces. Plus you don't "clear" a stage until you find a way to connect the two C blocks when they appear. It definitely gets tactical. It just approaches the matching puzzle mechanic in an unexpected way.

NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection 2 is available for the Nintendo Switch and PC.

sakurai masahiro cat

Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of beloved games such as Super Smash Bros and Kirby, posted an entire video in his ongoing video series about his cat Fukurashi. His YouTube channel is usually full of videos about game design and a career in video games. However, viewers have often requested for him to post more pictures or videos of his cat. His most recent entry in his series does that.

As of the time of writing, "My Feline Friend, Fukurashi" has the most views out of Sakurai's recent videos. There are over 113k views on the Fukurashi video, compared to his video on game proposals (60k views) or jump physics (81k). The video contains clips of Fukurashi as she is now, as well as when she was a kitten. There are also lots of pictures, such as one of Fukurashi yawning and one of the cat laying down.

You can watch "My Feline Friend, Fukurashi" here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbkshNLpMwo

Fukurashi appears to have Scottish Fold genes, as her ears are floppy. Though Sakurai did not state how old Fukurashi is, he mentioned that the two of them have been together for a while. He also stated in the description of the video that he can oblige "just this once," which implies that this may be the final video about the cat on the "Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games" channel.

The latest Kirby game in the long-running franchise is Kirby's Dream Buffet, which is available for the Nintendo Switch. However, Sakurai was not involved in this entry.

Save Room Fits on the Switch, But Lacks Touchscreen Controls

Earlier in 2022, Save Room appeared as a budget, PC puzzle game that doubles as essentially a Resident Evil inventory management simulator. Your character possess a certain amount of room on-hand. Your goal is to get everything you own into the space you have so you can leave. Now that Save Room is on the Switch, it offers the shockingly zen experience everywhere, but oddly enough lacks touchscreen support.

In games like Resident Evil, players tend to be able to rely on certain rooms which are 100% safe. Nothing can get you there. You can manage your inventory. You might even find additional items. Save Room is a puzzle game built around that notion. Each level sees you entering a safe room. Your inventory is a certain size each time. You might even already be holding some items. The room's storage offers additional things you can add to your inventory. Your goal is to fit everything into your "pockets" so you can finish the level and head right out. Since each item or piece of equipment takes up a certain number of "blocks" of space and can be rotated, it becomes about properly managing your inventory.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mF19gXrBCCA&ab_channel=RatalaikaGames

Like the rooms in games it is based on, Save Room features a number of the same mechanics. To start, there is no time limit. You can spend as much time as you'd like organizing things. However, other elements directly pull from the games inspired by it and gradually appear. For example, guns and boxes of ammo are a frequent addition to the inventory. This means if a gun is empty, you can load ammunition into it to conserve space. As you go on, you may notice your "character's" health bar is red and low. You could then use items like eggs or sardines. That "heals" you, but more importantly gives you more room to work with. Eventually, herbs come into play. This means you can head into the item menu to combine them to make medicine.

Also, yes, this is basically a routine confirmation at this point, but Save Room is great on the Switch. It's a tidy little download that doesn't take up much room. It's only 40 puzzles long, but it is meant to be a budget title after all. It doesn't wear out the gimmick. Things are easy to read on the system, even though you're dealing with a smaller screen in Handheld mode. The controls function well, so there are no placement issues as you play. As it is a puzzle game with very little pressure, it means it works well as a palate cleanser or quick diversion.

Save Room Fits on the Switch, But Lacks Touchscreen Controls

The downside is, lack of touchscreen support in Switch version of Save Room kept nagging at me. I almost always play in Handheld mode. There are many times I wanted to drag and drop items into place. Even if it meant rotating or going through the usage or combining item menus with them, that'd be fine. Just that extra accent would have been lovely. Though, given this is a $5 budget game, it's an understandable omission.

Save Room is a puzzle definitely wears its heart on its sleeve. It clearly shows love for the games it is inspired by. Save Room also is a perfect fit on the Switch, with it being clear, easy to play, and a fantastic pick-up-and-play title. The downside is, I feel like a little more could have been done with this port. It seems made for touchscreen controls, but doesn't take advantage of it. It is definitely worth someone's time, but could have been a bit better.

Save Room is available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

GTA roleplay servers can't include crypto, loot boxes, or NFTs

GTA roleplay servers are a core part of the long lasting nature of Grand Theft Auto 5 and Online's appeal. These servers often change the makeup of the multiplayer game to a drastic degree, letting players act out fantasies like cops and robbers, plan out online bank heists, or form factions that rule over select parts of the open-world game. That said, Rockstar and Take-Two have some rules about these GTA roleplay servers, including how they feel about crypto, NFTs, and loot boxes ending up in them.

Grinding Gear Games has clarified its new Path of Exile 3.20 balance manifesto, which addresses some of the changes being made in the next major update for the RPG game. Key among them is the decision to introduce new monster mods designed to replace the controversial Path of Exile Archnemesis system that has been frustrating fans through the past couple of seasons. GGG says it aims to create new mods that are clearer, and associated reward systems that avoid the notorious 'MF culling' build requirements created by what came to be known as Path of Exile loot goblins.

I recently bought a new hoover, or I suppose a first hoover, the first hoover which I actually own. After decades of whichever crap hoover my landlords dumped in a flat cupboard rather than throw away, here I am, a hoover owner. Did you know: a hoover, when pushed over a floor, will suck up dust? And keep the dust inside? Amazing. Genuinely a joy to be doing a bit of hoovering this week. Plus I bought a Shark, and Shark owners seem to get very excited when they hear someone has bought a Shark, so I guess I'm now part of a(nother) gang. Anyway! What are you playing this weekend?

bayonetta 4

In response to a Peing question regarding Bayonetta 4, Hideki Kamiya posted on Twitter that an unexpected twist is in store. In a reply, he adds that he had thought it wouldn't be unexpected. However, it seemed that many people did not properly understand the ending of Bayonetta 3.

Editor's Note: Due to the nature of this article, it will discuss spoilers for Bayonetta 3.

Kamiya explained that he does not want fans to accuse him of adding things later. So he will say it now that if you got the ending of Bayonetta 3, then what will happen in Bayonetta 4 will not be a surprise. He already laid the groundwork for Bayonetta 4 with Bayonetta 3. It is unclear what he is referring to.

The Bayonetta 3 ending ended up introducing multiple different possibilities. It resulted in different Bayonettas appearing across the three games, rather than one Bayonetta who develops throughout the series. There is also the issue of Viola taking up the mantle of Bayonetta. The game ends with the implication that the series will focus on her now.

Kamiya didn't discuss a possible future. The plot of Bayonetta 3 involved multiple Bayonettas. Kamiya stated before that PlatinumGames may need nine games to fully tell the story of Bayonetta.

Bayonetta 3 is readily available on the Nintendo Switch. You can read our review of it here.

Trigun Stampede Knives Legato

The ongoing Anime NYC 2022 event brought with it a new look at Trigun Stampede, a reboot of the famed 90s-era anime series. The latest Trigun Stampede trailer brings with it a closer look at Millions Knives and his followers, including Legato Bluesummers.

Check out the trailer below. English subtitles are available in the closed captions.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_fTvpX0J_4

The new Trigun Stampede shows Knives wearing his cloak-like outfit and speaking about wanting to "even out everything." He also demonstrates his power, which involves manipulating countless numbers of blades floating in the air or linked in a chain. Knives is voiced by Junya Ikeda, who also voiced Ataru in Majestic Prince, Jou Kidou in Digimon Adventure tri, and played Gokai Silver in Pirate Sentai Gokaiger.

The new trailer also reveals the first look at Legato in Trigun Stampede. In the original story, Legato Bluesummers was leader of the Gung-Ho Guns, a group of assassins devoted to Knives' will. The new version of Legato is voiced by Koki Uchiyama, who also voiced Banagher in Gundam Unicorn, Tomura Shigaraki in My Hero Academia, and Razor in Genshin Impact.

Members of the Gung-Ho Guns themselves also get appearances in the trailer. At the moment it's unknown if they're actually called "the Gung-Ho Guns", though. The group under Legato and Knives in Trigun Stampede may be named differently this time around. Only Zazie the Beast is named in the trailer. She's voiced by Tarako, who voiced Monokuma in Danganronpa and Kirara from InuYasha. Other members that appear similar to the original incarnations of E.G. Mine and Monev the Gale appear alongside a new character named William Conrad.

Trigun Stampede begins airing in January 2023. Episode 1 airs early at Anime NYC.
