Square Enix's newest trailer for NieR: Automata The End of YoRHa Edition on the Nintendo Switch features 2B. Aside from showing off the flashy moves you can pull off as 2B, the trailer also shows some of the new outfits and Pod skins that will be available in the game. For example, you can make her Pod look like Mama from NieR Reincarnation. Aside from DLC content that was available on consoles such as the PS4 or Xbox One, there will be some cosmetics exclusive to the Switch version. The aforementioned Mama skin is likely only for the Switch. NieR Reincarnation went live in 2021, whereas NieR Automata's original release date was 2017. Circus has updated the Da Capo 5 website by publishing details about its main characters. The protagonist—who does not have a design because the player will embody him—will be able to interact with five heroines in this visual novel. The player will assume the role of Souma Kujo, a male high schooler who is studying at the Kagami Academy. He will be already acquainted with four of the heroines at the beginning of the story. The blonde-haired Menoa Yasaka is Souma's childhood friend who is also engaged to him, as both families have arranged their marriage. The character next to Menoa is her younger sister Kako. The black-haired Yukina Tokisaka is the current student council president, and redhead Akari Shirakawa is one of Souma's classmates. The main story will begin when Souma encounters the key heroine, Mizuha Sakuragi. After descending from a blooming sakura tree, Mizuha will claim that she lost her memories but feel like she has met Souma before. She will eventually join Souma's class while also interacting with other characters. Da Capo 5 will also feature branches of magic-using families. The Kujo and Yasaka families are derived from the Tokisaka clan, so most of the main characters are actually distant relatives. As Mizuha also appears to use some magic, she will be placed under the Tokisaka clan's protection and live in Souma's house. The initial reveal in late July 2022 indicated that Da Capo 5 would appear digitally on PCs and internet browsers via the DMM Games platform. Circus has confirmed in the new site update that the visual novel will also be available in a physical DVD format. Da Capo 5 will be available for Windows 11 and 10 PCs in 2023 in Japan. Key has released a demo version of Stella of the End on its website. The demo lets players read the early parts of the kinetic novel's storyline. The minimum requirements needed to boot the kinetic novel will be a graphics card that supports DirectX 9.0, a Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, and 512MB of VRAM. For the best performances, Key recommends an Intel Core i5 processor with the RAM and VRAM upgraded to 4GB and 1GB, respectively. While Key's famous works like Air and Clannad tell stories about the daily lives of modern youth, Stella of the End takes place in the future and has a more serious tone. It will tell the story of Jude Grey, a transporter moving between human settlements on an Earth where hive-minded machines have dominated the world and forced humankind to survive in the corners. Jude will receive a special task to escort Filia, a girl-like android who is not affected by other machines. The two will have deep interactions with each other, with a rumor circulating about a space elevator that can turn androids into humans. Key published the opening movie for the kinetic novel at the end of July 2022. It will have "breath of stella" by Zero Aimiya as its theme song. While Key has released another visual novel titled Loopers with a global English version, it has yet to confirm a localization for Stella of the End. The issue is, it's been over a decade since the developer stopped making them. When I saw it was attached to SD Gundam Battle Alliance, this quickly became one of the games I was most hyped about this year. I imagined what Artdink, which made great mecha games with extremely weak hardware, must be capable of with modern tech. But after playing the game, I mostly just feel disappointed. This isn't a bad game, per se. But it's a far cry from what the dev achieved on much, much weaker hardware and it doesn't offer the satisfying game feel I was hoping for. A new Meta VR headset is coming this year. During the latest edition of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerburg confirmed that the company will be releasing a brand new VR headset, the Meta Quest Pro. Though details weren't given on specs, Zuckerburg did say that the Meta Quest Pro will be revealed in October at Facebook's annual Connect event. "For the next device that's coming out in October, there's a few big features," Zuckerberg said on the podcast. He claimed that, "the ability to now have kind of eye contact in virtual reality," is one of the larger features. I'm quite fond of the trend of fully re-making classic PlayStation 1 platformers. We got the Crash and Spyro trilogies, and the Wii remake of Klonoa was recently made available on PC as well. Now, Pac-Man World Re-Pac is joining the fray. While it isn't necessarily up there with the others, Pac-Man World Re-Pac is a very good game in its own right, now available with modern visuals and some adjustments. The price is a bit steep for a four-hour game and, honestly, it would have been wise to release it alongside a remake of its sequel. After several years of development Gungrave GORE finally has an official release date. The upcoming third-person shooter has set its sights on a November 22 launch. Its release date was announced at Gamescom alongside a new trailer that provides some insight into what the game is all about. The story follows a team of killers who are taking on SEED, an opposing faction known for the distribution of a dangerous drug. The team tasked with taking SEED out consists of five people — Quartz, Bunji, Dr. Aso, Mika, and Grave. Mika is the head of the organization and is responsible for calling the shots. Gameplay wise, you can expect Gungrave GORE to live up to its name. It will be a gory shoot 'em up style third-person shooter with plenty of over the top, stylized visuals.
