Spy X Family Anime Designs for Damian, Becky, Emile, and Ewen

Cloverworks and Wit Studio updated the Spy x Family anime website with information on the Japanese cast for four Eden Academy students. The Spy x Family Damian Desmond's voice actor is Natsumi Fujiwara. Meanwhile, Becky Blackbell, Emile Elman, and Ewen Egeberg will be handled by Emiri Katō, Hana Sato, and Haruka Okamura, respectively.

Natsumi Fujiwara voices Gai in the cast of AMAIM Warrior at the Borderline Part 2 this season, in addition to Damian in Spy x Family. Her other notable roles include Abigail Jones from Great Pretender and Theoto Rikka from 86.

People may recognize Emiri Katō as Kyuubey from the Madoka Magica franchise. She reprised her role as Riko Saikawa in Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S in July 2022. BanG Dream fans may know Katō as the voice of of Himari Uehara.

One of Hana Sato's earliest performances was in 2014's The Pilot's Love Song as Shizuka Hazome. She is also Nash in Black Clover and Pony in Sonny Boy. The titular role of Pascal-sensei in 100% Pascal-sensei was also played by her.

Lastly, Haruka Okamura makes her TV anime voice acting debut with Ewen in Spy x Family. Okamura was recently involved in the Japanese dub of the Netflix show Juvenile Justice. She participated in the Japanese dub for Harriet the Spy, an Apple TV+ animated series.

Several mobile wallpapers for Spy x Family were shared earlier in May 2022. They are taken from the anime's opening theme. An Anya figure is coming in September 2022 too.

The Spy x Family anime adaptation is streaming now on Crunchyroll. Viz Media is in charge of its manga's English release.

FFVII Remake Concept Art Showcases Cloud's Mom Claudia

For Mother's Day 2022, the Japanese FFVII Remake Twitter account decided to pay tribute to Cloud Strife's mom Claudia with concept art and screenshots. In addition to the design document highlighting her design, there are a number of in-game glimpses at her. One of them even shows her appearance in the original game, which was a brief cameo and didn't involve a closer look at her face.

First, here's the concept art showing off how Claudia Strife would look. She's wearing a simple pink dress and apron. The additional details show how it would look from the back and she would tie it.

Next are the FFVII Remake screenshots showing how that concept art are reflected in Cloud's mom Claudia's in-game look. While her full outfit isn't shown from the front, we can see how her face resembles him and the hairstyle, as well as how the apron looks from the back.

Finally, there is the screenshot from FFVII showing Cloud's mom and him in a flashback. While it isn't as detailed, she still has a similar hairstyle and sort of outfit.

Square Enix often uses the Japanese account for the game to share concept art and compare them to in-game screenshots. For example, past updates looked at the boss Eligor and looked at the Wall Market Materia Shop.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is available for the PS4, while FFVII Remake Intergrade is out on the PS5 and PC.

Fire Emblem Heroes Beyond Control Ninian fallen rhea

Fire Emblem Heroes will add its next batch of fallen characters as part of the upcoming Beyond Control summoning event on May 10, 2022. The new heroes include fallen forms of Lilith from Fire Emblem Fates, Ninian from Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, and Rhea from Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Alfonse and Sharena's father Gustav, a Heroes original character, will be appearing in a fallen form as well. This version of Gustav previously appeared in the game's Book III story, as a reanimated servant of Hel.

[gallery ids="926360,926361,926362" link="file"]

This new Fire Emblem Heroes banner introduces a duo of new Smoke skills. These Tier 4 Smoke skills include Lilith's Spd Smoke 4 and Gustav's Atk Smoke 4. Spd Smoke 4 reduces a foe's speed stat by 7 after combat, along with any enemies within two spaces of that target after they take action. Additionally, it increases its user's speed stat by 6 and grants the Dodge damage reduction status for a single turn.

Atk Smoke 4 possesses a similar effect. It lowers the attack stat of a target and any enemies within two spaces by 7. Atk Smoke 4 also raises the user's defensive stats by 6 for one turn. Foes are unable to initiate a follow-up attack on them, too.

A new story chapter, "To Be Emperor," will join the new heroes when the Beyond Control banner goes live. The accompanying Grand Hero Battle will add Muarim, a beast unit from Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, for players to defeat and earn.

Fire Emblem Heroes is available on Android and iOS devices. The Beyond Control banner featuring fallen forms of Lilith, Ninian, Gustav, and Rhea will debut on May 10, 2022. Mythic hero Medeus is still available until May 11.

Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible is a Slice of Life Look at Young Love

There are plenty of mangas looking at a developing relationship between two characters. Though over the years, we've seen some where a person who isn't particularly sociable or popular ends up opening up and growing as a person as they connect with someone important. There are Kimi ni Todoke and Komi Can't Communicate, for example. Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible is a similar sort of situation. Except here, we see how a young woman tries to get others to notice the person she can't ignore.

Junta Shiraishi is essentially the equivalent of a generic NPC. Which ties in to the original Japanese name of the series. In the title, it refers to him as being a "mob character." People and even inanimate objects never notice him. However, his classmate Nagisa Kubo does. Which, initially, she seems to use for her own amusement. At least, that's how Shiraishi seems to see it. From getting him to stand on his seat in class to see if the teacher, who doesn't often notice he's even attended, to seeing what lengths they have to get for a phone's camera to recognize his face is even there, she's constantly teasing him.

Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible is a Slice of Life Look at Young Love However, the whole first volume is about establishing who Kubo is to Shiraishi and vice versa. For him, she starts out as a classmate. She actually notices him, which he seems to appreciate. Even when her antics would verge on annoying, he doesn't seem to mind too much. He himself even assures her he isn't mad. (Though admittedly, he does seem to regret it a bit as it eggs her on.) He's also a bit clueless about the whole situation. It is as though he understands she has an interest in him, but doesn't get the "why."

As for Kubo, Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible volume 1's rather well paced. It doesn't hesitate to clue the reader in to her intentions. Which is refreshing, in a way. With how many "will they or won't they" series out there, we know from the start the direction things are headed. While she is trying to increase his exposure and make him more noticeable, it is never malicious. Her goading him into standing on his chair is as "cruel" as it gets. She genuinely attempts to call attention to him in a positive way. At one point in class, she even offers additional support so he looks smart in front of their teacher and classmates. And while she does "tease" him, a meeting with her elder sister helps establish where she gets it from. There are even moments when she expresses some degree of guilt or regret, even when it probably isn't warranted.

The format also means that the development of Shiraishi and Kubo's relationship feels more natural. As a slice of life series, it follows the same sort of format as Yotsuba and Komi Can't Communicate. There are short vignettes in their daily lives. We see them meet outside of school when Shiraishi has his little brother at a park. Kubo is teased by her sister about her sudden change in habits. The two of them interact in class. We see how she draws him out of his shell and the way they interact.

The result is a rather fun read. I enjoyed seeing how Shiraishi and Kubo reacted to one another in Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible. Watching exactly how animate and inanimate objects wouldn't realize he existed tended to be rather amusing. It also gets especially interesting to see the contrast in perspectives that sometimes makes Kubo herself seem more villainous or like an extremely ordinary girl. I feel like it's a good manga to pick up and read a chapter or two of as a quick diversion.

Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible volume 1 is available from Viz Media.

Vampire Survivors patch 0.5.2 adds a guitarist bat-woman

May 8, 2022: Vampire Survivors patch 0.5.2 is live, along with new character Concetta Caciotta.

The Vampire Survivors 0.5.2 patch notes are here, unassumedly promising new Arcana power-ups, items, weapons, and more - but the roguelike game now features a new playable secret character in the form of a guitar-shredding bat-woman called Concetta Caciotta, as well as some great new ways to get gold.

Vampire Survivors update 0.5.2 hit earlier today, with a number of welcome additions. These include three between weapons and evolutions, one new item, another rank for the Banish stat, and a new relic or "minor gameplay option". There's also a bug fix for the Celestial Dusting fire rate being affected by the vampire game's fps, and copyrighted music has been "temporarily" removed, so the game's stream-safe now - yes, the game had copyrighted music, apparently.

There is also a suspicious mention in the patch notes of "a coffin in Gallo Tower". The notes usually keep neutral and hide such fun additions as swarms of killer cats and a dog that farts flowers. However, developer Poncle previously showed a flying bat-person who fights while shredding their guitar, who is now revealed to be called Concetta Caciotta. Find that coffin and you can unlock them.

It looks like a Fortnite Fall Guys crossover event is coming

A number of quite-literally Epic leaks seemingly reveal that a Fortnite Fall Guys crossover event is taking place across both battle royale games, possibly very soon - which, if correct, point to some sort of trials event where competitors can unlock new cosmetics.

As originally spotted by Fortnite leaker iFireMonkey, two new URLs related to Fall Guys and Epic Games surfaced recently that redirected to the Fortnite website. These URLs have now been updated, further confirming the Fortnite connection and some sort of "Epic Fall Guys competition".

Firstly, a reminder that Epic actually owns Fall Guys and developer Mediatonic, so a Fortnite collab is probably long overdue. Secondly, back in November a bunch of Fortnite skins for Fall Guys itself leaked, suggesting the crossover is going both ways. Mediatonic reportedly added support for cross-game item grants recently, meaning you can earn things in one game and unlock them in the other. A "huge mystery announcement" for Fall Guys was recently teased, which could mean the game going free-to-play or a big Fortnite crossover - or both, conceivably.

Dead by Daylight leak reveals horrific new killer The Dredge

A new Dead by Daylight leak seemingly reveals the new killer coming in the horror game's Chapter 24 this month, which was supposed to be unveiled as part of the 6th-anniversary celebrations. If the leak is correct, the killer is an eyeless creature out of a Bloodborne or Amnesia nightmare called The Dredge.

A leak on Reddit seems to have revealed the new Dead by Daylight The Dredge killer prior to its official showing on May 17 for the multiplayer game's sixth anniversary. The leaked pictures - which also show the rather intense new survivor Haddie Kaur too - purport to show the disgusting long-mouthed monster The Dredge as it appears in-game. If real, it's certainly the most inhuman killer in Dead by Daylight this side of the Stranger Things Demogorgon, although it has a similar vertical mouth to The Blight.

The leak also reveals all of The Dredge's new abilities too and it seems its main power is darkness. Its special ability Nightfall builds the more actions The Dredge takes, like injuring or hooking a survivor, and when its meter is filled the map is flooded in "total darkness" and its abilities become enhanced.

Starfield companions – first confirmed follower revealed

So you want to know about Starfield companions? Given that Starfield is an open-world RPG game made by Bethesda, we'd have been very surprised if there weren't followers the player could meet and invite to join them on their journey across the Settled Systems.

Thankfully, we already know plenty about Starfield companions, despite the fact that we've only seen a few seconds of in-engine footage. The presence of characters that the player can form relationships with has already been confirmed and VASCO, a Constellation expeditionary robot, is one of the only known companions so far. But that's not all.

For example, a Bethesda blog post confirms that VASCO is just "one of many companions" available in the game. In episode two of the 'Into the Starfield' video series, Todd Howard and the group talk a little bit about companions and what they might be like. It's mentioned that companions can comment about things the player is actively doing, or has done previously, which should sound familiar to Fallout players who are tired of being judged by their companions.

Here's 15 minutes of Elden Ring VR mod gameplay

May 8, 2022: We've now got 15 minutes of Elden Ring VR mod gameplay.

Last month, an Elden Ring VR mod was teased by a modder responsible for similar Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2 VR mods, suggesting a whole new terrifying way to play one of the best RPGs on PC - not to mention the possible Elden Ring first-person mod implications. Now we've got a decent look at the VR mod in action.

There are a lot of great VR games on PC already, but other than the likes of Skyrim VR there aren't too many open-world games accessible to virtual reality fans. Modder Luke Ross has already created mods to make the likes of Red Dead 2, GTA 5, Cyberpunk 2077, and even No-One Lives Forever 2 playable in VR, and they've now set their sights on Elden Ring.

After previously showing what Ross calls a "sneak peek" of the mod, we've now got a full 15 minutes of Elden Ring VR mod gameplay courtesy of Upload VR, who also posted a hands-on preview.

Dark Souls 3 overhaul mod Archthrones is getting a demo

Dark Souls: Archthrones is an impressive Dark Souls 3 mod that acts as both an overhaul and a prequel to FromSoftware's RPG game, and the team now reveals that it's "working on a demo" that should hopefully be available soon.

There are many fantastic fan-made Dark Souls 3 mods, such as ones that change boss fights or just complete overhauls of the game, but Archthrones is a little different. The team describes it as an "extensive" overhaul of the dark fantasy game. Locations are being "beautifully reimagined" with new lighting and visuals, and there will also be changes to boss encounters, too.

Aside from being an overhaul, though, Archthrones also features "an alternate story set before the events" of Dark Souls 3, with this prequel story being set "across five unique worlds, each accessed via the Nexus of Embers". It's apparently been in development for two years, and also contains new NPCs, enemies, and even bosses. The team even seems to be deliberately making the new areas more in the style of Dark Souls precursor Demon's Souls, which is neat as that game's still not on PC.

Genshin Impact dev's next anime game reveals this Friday

The first Zenless Zone Zero teaser suggests that the reveal is happening this Friday - so this week we'll see the next anime game from Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse. Reportedly, it's another open-world game, and it may be a shooter this time.

The studio previously known as MiHoYo currently has two major games in operation - Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact: 3rd, with a new strategy RPG game called Honkai: Star Rail in the works. Aside from weird desktop anime girls, that's all the projects we know so far - but it seems HoYoverse has another new game on the way.

Zenless Zone Zero is that game, and it has a new countdown page with a short teaser revealing that it is set in a modern-day city - and deals with strange circular voids called Hollows appearing around that city. Beyond that, there's a calendar with Friday, May 13, clearly circled - so presumably, the full reveal of Zenless Zone Zero will happen later this week.

Zenless Zone Zero Teaser Website Image

HoYoVerse, the Genshin Impact developer also known as miHoYo, is teasing a new game titled Zenless Zone Zero. Not much is known about it at the moment, but an official reveal is slated for May 13, 2022. A "Record of Unknown Time" teaser site for Zenless Zone Zero has been put up in the meantime.

https://twitter.com/ZZZ_EN/status/1523150703006523393

The Zenless Zone Zero teaser site is a peculiar one. It displays an old antenna TV on top of a VCR set. Surrounding are several posters, a subwoofer, a few VHS tapes on a rack, and a small calendar counting down to May 13.

Visitors can turn the top knob to turn the TV on to watch a brief clip of breaking news. This most likely hints at what its premise may contain. The clip shows that part of a city is starting to be swallowed up by some sort of black dome with parts of a building submerged in it. The news reporter refers to this phenomenon as a "sub hollow." Public security has set up a control zone and is evacuating residents in the meantime.

Although HoYoVerse has not listed a genre for Zenless Zone Zero yet, industry analyst Daniel Ahmad shared on Twitter that it will be an "ACGN-themed shooter game."

HoYoVerse continues to work on Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, and the unreleased Honkai Star Rail. Recent events have had them push back update 2.7 for Genshin Impact unfortunately.

Zenless Zone Zero has no release platforms or release date yet. We hope to learn more on May 13 during its official reveal.

Genshin Impact HoYoWiki Feature Launch Announcement

MiHoYo launched the Genshin Impact HoYoWiki, the game's official wiki. It serves as a central information hub constructed by the joint efforts of the developer and the Genshin Impact community. In its current launch form, the HoYo Wiki provides a detailed breakdown on the game's characters, weapons, artifacts, and enemies.

The HoYoWiki site gives players a spec sheet for each character in Genshin Impact. Base stats showing each of person's tenth level is noted. Applicable damage multipliers and cooldowns for every single attack and skill a character possesses are also listed. It also lets players know the material costs to level up a character's Talents. Additionally, the HoyoWiki shares what each Constellation grants, in the event that a player gets duplicates of that specific character.

Similar to the character pages, this Genshin Impact wiki shows each weapon's attack stats at every tenth level. They additionally provide their critical rate and what the attack stat is raised after Ascensions. Each Artifact's 2-piece and 4-piece set bonuses are shown as well.

The enemies and monsters section in the HoYoWiki lists bosses, so beware of spoilers. All the foes mentioned show all the items they can potentially drop.

This new comes days after miHoYo's announcement to continually compensate players with free Primogems and Fragile Resin the longer the developer delays the 2.7 update.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS5, PS4, PC, and mobile devices. It is also planned to eventually launch on the Nintendo Switch. The game's HoYoWiki is now online. There is also a Fandom wiki for Genshin Impact.

Dropkick on my Devil X Season 3 OP Song Revealed

Another season of Dropkick on my Devil is just around the corner. Season 3, known as Dropkick on My Devil X, is premiering in July 2022. Halca announced that she will be returning to perform its opening song. Dropkick on my Devil X's opening song is titled "Are Kore Drastic feat. Aina Suzuki." As the song title implies, halca will be performing with Aina Suzuki, the voice actress for the show's main character, Jashin-chan. [Thanks, Anime News Network!]

halca previously handled the opening theme song for Dropkick on My Devil Dash, the second season in the Dropkick on my Devil anime series with the song "Toki Toshite Violence." Meanwhile, Aina Suzuki sang the opening theme song for Dropkick on My Devil's first season, "Anoko ni Drop Kick," alongside multiple voice actresses featured in the show. This included Riho Iida, Yurie Kozakai, Miyu Kubota, Chiaki Omigawa, Nichika Oomori, and Rico Sasaki. Since halca and Jashin-chan are singing Dropkick on my Devil X's season 3 anime opening together this time around, it can be seen as a little fusion of the series' previous opening songs throughout its anime adaptations.

Dropkick on my Devil X will start airing in July 2022. Although no plans for an international release or English dub have been confirmed so far, the series has consistently seen western releases. The first season is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video and the second is available on Crunchyroll.
