Capcom Arcade Stadium's games can be bought separately, but there's nothing new

Capcom Arcade Stadium, the collection of 30+ classic Capcom arcade games, is currently sitting on a 'Mostly Negative' rating on Steam. The main issue players have complained about is the strange decision to sell the games in bundles only, but now Capcom has finally decided to start selling them individually too - although there's still no sign of any new releases.

The emulated arcade collection of some of Capcom's most beloved games - including the early '90s versions of Street Fighter II, Final Fight, Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, and Bionic Commando - arrived on PC in May this year. It's a competent and well-presented collection that brought to mind SEGA's awesome Mega Drive/Genesis Classics software - complete with a simulated arcade.

However, Capcom Arcade Stadium was immediately criticised for its pricing structure. Not just selling an invincibility cheat for $1, but also Capcom's decision to only sell games in bundles - so, in order to get Super Street Fighter II Turbo you would have to buy the expensive ten-game pack with the likes of 1944: The Loop Master and Battle Circuit.

The Batman Who Laughs just killed Fortnite's Tomatohead

The next Batman and Fortnite crossover comic is due out this week but a number of people have received advance copies and have posted a few moments online - including the shocking moment where the sinister Batman Who Laughs splatters poor Tomatohead.

As revealed earlier this month, the next Batman x Fortnite crossover happens this week and includes the arrival of a DC Comics new skin in the game, the disturbing The Batman Who Laughs - a Batman from an alternate universe where he was corrupted by Joker toxin, similar to a plotline from Batman: Arkham Knight.

The skin is available for free with the one-off Batman/Fortnite: Foundation comic as part of the new crossover - much like the Harley Quinn Rebirth skin from the previous comic event. The comic prominently features The Batman Who Laughs as the main villain, which makes sense as he was teased at the end of the last comic. Going by the panels that have leaked online, at some point this dark Batman finds his way to the Fortnite island.

Play the world's slowest battle royale in Non-Euclidean Chess

Just released on Steam is Non-Euclidean Chess, a twist on the most archetypal and greatest turn-based strategy game of all time that turns the whole concept of chess upside-down - literally, in some cases. It even offers the opportunity to play a 100-person chess battle royale match, if that madness should strike you.

To explain the game's title, all regular chessboards follow Euclidean geometric rules - which basically means something where all lines are equal distances apart. As a square made up of smaller squares, a chess set is a perfect example of Euclidean principles.

A non-Euclidean chessboard, then, is one where all the rules go out the window and boards can be literally whatever you want them to be. Manifold Interactive's Non-Euclidean Chess, out now on Steam early access, is the ultimate example of chess gone crazy. The developers simply describe the game as "a chess engine which supports custom board types" - berore downplaying the madness further by saying the title can include matches and boards that "defy traditional movement rules, or even physical limitations".

The Transformers will fight Thor, Cthulhu, and the Ninja Turtles in Smite next month

Hi-Rez Studios' Smite was originally conceived as a free-to-play MOBA game where the gods fought each other, but recent Battle Pass crossovers have called this into question. Now the developer has revealed that Hasbro's Transformers will be joining the battle next month, because after Stranger Things everything's a god, apparently.

As revealed in the cinematic trailer below, the Smite x Transformers Battle Pass will be available on November 16. Previous Battle Pass crossovers include the aforementioned Stranger Things, Rooster Teeth's RWBY, Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. So yes, next month Optimus Prime will be able to battle Raphael, Aang, and Eleven.

Technically these are all skins rather than all-new Smite characters, so Megatron is a skin for Ra, Optimus Prime is Geb, and Starscream is Jing Wei. Nevertheless, they play exactly like Transformers, complete with the ability to transform and drive or fly around the battlefield - don't worry, Megatron turns into a tank rather than his useless gun. The skins also come in two varieties: modern and cel-shaded like the original cartoon.

Saints Row is bringing back the fan-favourite Insurance Fraud ragdoll missions

The Saints Row reboot is slowly taking shape as we move towards its release date of February, and now developer Volition has confirmed the return of several fan favourite series staples - including the Let's Pretend stores and the ragdoll minigame 'Insurance Fraud' missions. It also seemingly revealed the Santo Ileso map, too.

The Insurance Fraud missions were introduced all the way back in the first Saints Row in 2006 and were a good indication of the goofy way that the series would slowly progress. If you've never played a Saints Row game - basically the idea is to throw the player character at a car, at which point they bounce off and ragdoll and the player has to guide them pinball-like into other vehicles, racking up the score.

These missions are a fun respite from the GTA-ness of the regular gameplay and have been in every game in the series, so it's great to see them return in the Saints Row reboot - and pretty unchanged, if the new Criminal Ventures trailer below is any indication.

My New World character is going through an identity crisis

A war horn bellows across the land. My Marauder compatriots have been called to assemble at the gates of Ebonscale Reach to launch an offensive against the tyrannical Covenant. Fifty soldiers from each side will decide the fate of the region - but reports from my fellow Marauders are dire. Only a handful of our troops have signed up to fight, and the battle is fast approaching.

Ebonscale Reach is a level 51-60 zone in New World, Amazon Games' hit new MMO (which you can buy here). I am level 26, but I have a duty to my people. The war board waits in the city across the water; my friends and I are bravely wading across the bayou into deadly territory in order to sign up for the battle.

After hauling ourselves onto shore and making camp on the sand, a reanimated skeleton notices us from afar and takes aim. We're so low level that every enemy in the region wants a piece of us. Languorous crocodiles, lumbering along the waterside half a mile away catch our scent on the breeze and crack hungry grins before launching themselves towards us.

Payday 3 goes to New York City and will have more

Payday 3 has been in various stages of development for a very long time, but we're finally starting to get a clearer picture of what the game will look like. As part of a tenth anniversary stream, the developers provided a fresh look at the lore of Payday 3, confirming that the original cast is returning and that the upcoming game will be set - at least partly - in New York City.

The new game is set some years after the end of Payday 2, as Dallas, Hoxton, Chains, and Wolf are forced out of retirement by some powerful enemies. In the intervening years, the world has moved into the "digital age", which means you'll have some fancy new gadgets to use, as well as bigger challenges to overcome. The crew will also have to deal with increased media attention as their fame continues to grow.

Payday 3 starts in New York City, and the developers want to make the most of the scale of the setting. As game director Erik Wonnevi explains in today's livestream, "we're really trying to take the game into this big-scale urban environment, and immerse players into this fantasy of being at the heart of a living, breathing city."

Hand-drawn Metroidvania Aeterna Noctis looks gorgeous in motion

Both sides of the Metroidvania equation have gotten major releases in the past month with the Castlevania Advance Collection and Metroid Dread. But don't think indie devs have been scared out of the nonlinear platforming space - Aeterna Noctis is still due to launch later this year, and it's looking absolutely gorgeous in a new trailer.

Aeterna Noctis puts you in control of the King of Darkness, trapped in eternal conflict with the Queen of Light. Here, that means you'll be exploring 16 interconnected side-scrolling areas, defeating progressively more powerful enemies to gain new abilities. It's all cast in a colourfully gothic aesthetic that manages to stand out even in a heavily-populated genre.

The new trailer shows a bit of how the weapon and upgrade system works. You'll be able to spend points on a big upgrade tree for stat improvements, or new abilities like pulling in nearby items. The weapons shown in the teaser include a giant boomerang of darkness and what looks like a magical spear you can use to make short-range teleports.

FFXIV player literally runs across Eorzea in two hours using Ring Fit Adventure controls

SuperLouis64 has built a well-deserved pile of internet fame by playing games with wholly-inappropriate controllers. He's played Call of Duty with Donkey Konga bongos, beaten Dark Souls 3's final boss with literal bananas, and now he's doing wild things in Final Fantasy XIV. He's played Dancer with a Kinect and played Astrologian with a Yu-Gi-Oh duel disc. Now he's literally running across Eorzea using Ring Fit Adventure controls.

This setup essentially translates data from the gyros in the Switch joy-cons into normal controller inputs. So as far as FFXIV knows, you're just using an Xbox controller - there's no mod to the game itself, and thus no issue with the terms of service. Literally running lets you run in-game, and doing a squat registers as a down press on the d-pad, so you can map that to whatever skill you find most useful.

Using the freshly-rigged controls, SuperLouis64 took about two hours to run all across Eorzea - from Idyllshire, past Old Gridania, down south to Ul'Dah, then looping around La Noscea before completing the run to Gyr Abania.

Overwatch's McCree becomes Cole Cassidy next week

The Overwatch hero we've all known as McCree for years will get his new name next week. The multiplayer game's cowboy gunslinger will be known as Cole Cassidy beginning October 26, when Blizzard will officially change his moniker and introduce a new backstory for the character.

The hero had originally been named after former Blizzard lead level designer Jesse McCree, who was let go from the company in the wake of a lawsuit filed against the company by California's Department of Fair Employment and Housing. That lawsuit has since expanded and been joined by others, and has sent shockwaves through the company. It's also had the result of making the name McCree a sore point both for Blizzard and for Overwatch fans, and Blizzard announced in August that it planned to update it.

Today, October 22, Blizzard officially unveiled the new name, Cole Cassidy, along with a snipped of introductory text. "The first thing a renegade loses is their name, and this one gave up his long ago," it reads. "Running from his past meant running from himself, and each passing year only widened the divide between who he had been and what he had become."

Flame In The Flood Cd Projekt RedThe modern video game industry has seen some rapid changes and growth over the last few years. Amidst the global pandemic, studios have faced challenges in allocating development and publishing resources. For some, that has meant changing their business operations altogether. And, unfortunately for others, that has also meant closing up shop or delays on projects currently in development. Where one studio might falter, others might find success. One such studio that seems to be making moves is The Flame in the Flood developer, Molasses Flood, as the company recently announced on Twitter it would now be part of the CD Projekt's publishing umbrella. As mentioned, Molasses Flood made the brief announcement on Twitter. But, there were a few key takeaways. For starters, the studio will now have access to some of CD Projekt's intellectual property. As stated in the release, "We get to build a completely new game in the universe of an existing CD PROJEKT IP." This c...

Mcree New Name Overwatch Cole CassidyTwo months after it was promised, McCree, the cowboy hero of Overwatch fame, has gotten a new name. In the announcement, the team revealed that McCree will become Cole Cassidy starting on October 26. Hopefully the company already finished swapping out the name in many of the game's voice lines. Because otherwise, it's going to sound a little awkward for a while. The message included in the announcement provides some Spaghetti Western-style reasoning to make the name change seem lore friendly. Blizzard couldn't help but ...
