Bravely Default II Finally Gets A Release Date Through Latest Nintendo Direct Mini

Bravely Default II Release Date

On October 28, Nintendo surprise dropped a new Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase out of nowhere, with Square Enix most notably revealing February 26, 2021 as the release date for Bravely Default II. This is a worldwide release. A brand new trailer accompanied the release date, showcasing the main characters of Bravely Default II. Our party, Seth, Elvis, Adelle, and Gloria, will most notably face powerful Asterisks bearers, who each possess a powerful Job type. You'll be able to use these jobs yourself at some point.

We have details on four Asterisks bearers for now. The first one, Dag the Vanguard, who protects the others, will provoke your party, and tank your damage. Next, we have Orpheus the Bard, who buffs or debuffs multiple targets. Following that is Anihal the Beastmaster, which captures and uses monsters. Lastly we have the Shirley the Gambler, with powerful but luck-based skills.

We meet the four above early in the story. More Asterisks bearers characters and more Jobs we'll be able to change to will be coming later. Lastly, over 22,000 responses to the Bravely Default II demo survey were sent. Many fans mentioned the difficulty level and the controls, and a video explaining all the changes is coming soon. Note that the Japanese version of the video is already available.

We have below both the Japanese and the English dub of the new trailer for those who prefer it this way.

Bravely Default II Release Date Trailer, New Details ( Japanese, English)

The Bravely Default Twitter account teased in early October that news about BD II were coming.

Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler Producer at Square Enix Tomoya Asano recently explained how Covid-19 differently affected each series. The development of Bravely Default II was much more impacted. That was in a Famitsu magazine interview we translated. You can read about it in detail here.

Hitman 3 Comes to Nintendo Switch Via The Cloud

Hitman 3

Today's Nintendo Direct Mini gave fans a look at several great announcements coming down the pipes for the Switch. One of them is Hitman 3, the next game from IO Interactive. Of course, it's not exactly the same thing coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X next January. Instead, players can look for something more like the Stadia version as you'll be streaming this bad boy off of the cloud. Give it a look below.

It's quite intriguing to see Nintendo bringing both Hitman 3 and Control to the Switch via the cloud today. They've yet to announce exactly how you'll access these titles; however, at the very end of the Hitman trailer, you might notice some extra text. Here, we can see that playing the game will require you to download a free launcher app, and then you can purchase an Access Pass. It sounds simple enough, though it certainly seems like you'll only be able to play on good wifi. So, dreams of playing Hitman 3 on the go are pretty much gone.

That said, it is going to be fun playing Hitman from the bed is almost as great. Hopefully, we continue to see Nintendo pursuing deals like these. Obviously, the Switch can't compete in sheer graphical power, which makes this route a logical step. Sure, you're losing some of the Switch's mobility, but it's a price worth paying if you don't have a PS5 or Xbox Series X.

Hitman 3 comes to PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on January 20. The Nintendo Switch version doesn't appear to have a firm release date just yet, but I'd assume it's coming sometime around there.

Control is Available on the Switch Today

Control: Ultimate Edition is making a surprising leap to the Switch.

Announced during today's Nintendo Mini Direct partner showcase, the game is coming over to the portable console as a cloud version. As such, players will need a high-speed internet connection to play the game, a requirement that doesn't exactly play well with the Switch's mobile capabilities. It shouldn't be a surprise though – Control is a demanding game, one that couldn't run natively on the Switch without the console melting in the player's hands. The only way the game could possibly come to the console is by being streamed.

The biggest surprise of all though is that Control: Ultimate Edition is available today for players to pick up. You can check out the game's eShop page here.

Speaking of Control moving to other consoles, publisher 505 has recently upset players upgrading to the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S. Players of Control that bought all the game's DLC, essentially meaning they have the same content as Control: Ultimate Edition, have recently been told that they would not be able to upgrade to the game's next-gen version for free because they didn't actually own Control: Ultimate Edition. This discrepancy was exacerbated when owners of the base game and all the game's DLC were accidentally upgraded to the game's Ultimate Edition, only to have that version of the game swiftly taken away.

No More Heroes 3 Gameplay Finally Unveiled

While No More Heroes 3 creator Suda51 teased some of the gameplay from the upcoming installment in the series a few months back in a rather obscure way, today we have finally gotten our first official look at how the game will end up playing.

Much to be expected, No More Heroes 3 looks to be in-line with the combat from the first two entries in the series. While Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes took the series in a bit of a different direction, NMH3 will again take place from the third-person perspective and will see Travis Touchdown hacking and slashing enemies to pieces with his beam katana. Oh, and he still knows how to perform a suplex, too.

You can get a look at the gameplay footage here:

Noticeably, No More Heroes 3 looks like it's going to have a bit more flair than what we've seen in the past. While the general gameplay looks quite similar, some of the moves that Travis can be seen performing have more style than in the past. Given the fact that his foes this time around are also superheroes from outer space, it stands to reason that the story should be just as wild as the gameplay, too.

In other No More Heroes news from today's Nintendo Direct, it was also confirmed that the first two entries in the franchise are coming to Switch, with both being available today.

No Man's Sky Is Coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S Next Month

No Man's Sky

In a post on their website, developer Hello Games has announced that No Man's Sky will be available at launch for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This is a part of the game's 3.10 patch. You can watch the announcement trailer below.

Players who already own the game on Xbox One or PS4 can upgrade to the next-gen version for free. Your save data will also carry over to the new version. Additionally, the game will feature crossplay across all platforms so everyone can explore planets together. The PS5 and Xbox Series X version will support 4k 60FPS performance while the Xbox Series S version can be customized to 30FPS or 60FPS.

For PlayStation 5 players, the game will support PlayStation VR through the console's backward compatibility feature. The PS5's haptic feedback and 3D audio features are supported as well. Additionally, load times will be roughly ten times faster than the current-gen versions of No Man's Sky. The 3.10 update also lets console players, both current and next-gen, do multiplayer with up to 32 players. Besides the next-gen upgrades, the patch includes various fixes to the current-gen versions of the game. These range from performance improvements to quality of life enhancements.

Since its launch in 2016, No Man's Sky has continued to receive new major content updates. Last month, the game released its Origins update which includes new planets to explore among other things. Additionally, the game also added crossplay for PS4, Xbox One, and PC players back in June and a feature that lets players create their own audio. More recently, Hello Games announced a Halloween themed update that includes new material to discover and tougher enemies to fight.

No Man's Sky is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 10 and 12th respectively.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity New Trailer Reveals Playable Divine Beasts

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity Age of Calamity Divine Beasts screenshots feature

On October 28, Koei Tecmo and Nintendo published a new trailer for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, revealing the Divine Beasts are playable. The trailer shows the players controlling Divine Beast Vah Ruta, Vah Rudania, Vah Medoh, and Vah Naboris. The four Divine Beasts are in the original Zelda Breath Of The Wild, with Link going to each one of them for reasons you obviously know if you played the game.

Sure, we already knew the Champions were playable. Mipha, Daruk, Revali, and Urbosa. However, the fact that we will be able to directly control the Divine Beasts in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, instead of simply seeing them rain destruction in cutscenes, is definitely a big surprise. Hyping up the game even more in my book. I'm incredibly excited now, and this has potential to be a really great game.

Note that a demo for Age of Calamity was simultaneously announced and released on October 28. The demo lets you play through the first chapter of the game. Your save data can be transferred to the full game as well.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Divine Beasts, 3rd Trailer

Zelda Musou Yakusai no Mokushiroku, to cite its cool Japanese name, will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch on November 20.  You can preorder it on Amazon to support DualShockers.

No More Heroes 1 and 2 Have Both Come to Nintendo Switch Today

Nintendo released its latest Direct Mini: Partner Showcase this morning and the presentation finally showed us a look at Grasshopper Manufacture's No More Heroes III in action. While the game isn't slated to arrive on Switch until next year, the developer did also announce that it has something else for fans to play right now.

As of today, new ports of both No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle have landed on the Nintendo Switch. Each title, which both originally released on the Nintendo Wii, have largely been stranded on the platform over the years, with the exception of NMH2 which eventually came to PS3. The reason for bringing both games over to the Switch is to allow those who haven't played them before to catch up before the arrival of NMH3.

The coolest part of this move by far is that it makes the entire No More Heroes franchise accessible on a single platform. In addition to last year's release of Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes and the upcoming release of No More Heroes III, you'll no longer need to have multiple platforms to experience the entirety of Travis Touchdown's story. As someone who has been looking to more easily revisit these games in recent years, I could not be more thrilled on a personal level.

Both No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2 retail for $19.99 on the Nintendo eShop and are available to download right now. If you purchase either game right now, however, you can get them each for 10% off.

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity demo feature impa

Hey folks, it's that time of the month again, Nintendo randomly dropped a new Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase out of nowhere, most notably revealing Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is getting a demo. That's not so much of a surprise when remembering games by Koei Tecmo regularly gets demos like this. Still, it really did drop unannounced, besides players noticing a new ad on the Eshop claiming a demo was available.

The demo lets you play through all of Chapter One of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, and your save data will be transferable to the full game. Note that we've already seen part of the first chapter of the game with previous gameplay videos. It's when Link first meets with Impa.

Insta-Forum: What Spooky Horror Games Will You Play for Halloween?

We're officially in the spookiest time of the year, and Halloween is right around the corner. While this year Halloween may look a little "different," there are still plenty of opportunities to celebrate All Hallows' Eve with the right mix of scary games and frightful times.

Of course, a bunch of games are offering their own opportunities to celebrate Halloween with special events, along with brand new horror games that have released in the past few weeks. Amnesia: Rebirth is among the most notable horror games to debut this month from Frictional Games, which we reviewed last week and found to be a worthy successor to the horror classic Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

Additionally, several other games are hosting spooky events like Rainbow Six Siege's puppet-filled "Sugar Fright" and Minecraft Dungeons' "Spooky Fall." Either way, there are always plenty of classics worth going back to around this time of year like Left 4 Dead, the Resident Evil series, Silent Hill, and so many more that are perfect for the holiday.

With Halloween coming up at the end of the week, we want to ask the DualShockers community: What spooky games are you planning to play to celebrate Halloween? What games always give you a fright to celebrate the holiday? If scary games aren't your thing, what movies or shows will you watch for All Hallows' Eve? Let us know in the comments below.

For me this year, I'm planning to dig into a few horror games this week to celebrate Halloween, which is a tradition that I always look forward to. This year, I'm aiming to play the Layers of Fear series–which I've sorely missed out on–and planning to finally jump into Phasmophobia to see what all the fuss is about. I might mix in a bit of Among Us as well, since I can't help but try to be the Imposter.

Also, stay tuned to DualShockers' YouTube channel in the coming days for some Halloween-themed tricks and treats that are in store.

PS5 Spider-Man: Miles Morales Variant Cover Art Revealed; Confirms Villain 'Prowler'

PS5 Spider-Man: Miles Morales is one of the exciting new launch titles arriving for the PS5 in just a few week's time and to celebrate this, Marvel Comics is releasing a series of variant covers for several November and December Spider-Man titles. Marvel's Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games has recently confirmed that its version of Prowler for the upcoming issues of The Amazing Spider-Man and Miles Morales: Spider-Man has been revealed through the medium of comic book covers that shows off Prowler, a classic Spider-Man villain, and how the antagonist will appear in the game.

Marvel's official Twitter account initially tweeted about Prowler, giving us all a first look at the character's outfit which also included a dashing image of Spider-Man and the villain. Insomniac Games jumped on to retweet it by saying "Well, it seems Spider-Man the Cat is out of the bag". Referring to the tweet below, our first look at Prowler comes by way of a look at Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales creative director Brian Horton's variant cover for the Amazing Spider-Man #55 comic. In the image you'll notice Mile's familiar spidey sense being alerted as Prowler, in his notable purple and green suit, sneaking up behind him and about to pounce. Spider-Man and Prowler followers will see that there are some key differences between this Prowler and the traditional appearances of the character they are used to, more notably the toned down colors and the style of the suit.

The five variant covers showcase Miles Morales at different stages in his hero's journey, all of which tie back to the eagerly anticipated and soon to be released Spider-Man: Miles Morales. As previously said, Brian Horton is at the helm of this variant cover and has previously worked at Disney, DreamWorks, EA, Lucas Arts, Konami, Atari, Infinity Ward/Activision, Vivendi, Crystal Dynamics/Square Enix, Dark Horse Comics, and DC Comics. On the subject of Prowler, aka Aaron Davis, we may see him spearheaded along by the Tinkerer, who is the main villain of the game but hopefully, we will see more information as the release approaches.

Marvel Games VP & head of creative Bill Rosemann has said that "Just as Marvel's Spider-Man was a love letter to Peter Parker and his web-slinging alter-ego, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales celebrates every aspect of this break-out hero of a new generation, continuing that tradition of authenticity, the teams at Insomniac Games, PlayStation, and Marvel Games have united to spotlight the amazing behind-the-scenes artists who are bringing this action-packed game to life." Bill continues "What's especially meaningful about this series of variant covers is that, if viewed in a particular order, they showcase our collective commitment to storytelling."

The rest of the Amazing Spider-Man #53 covers has been done by Insomniac Games art director Jason Hickey and Marvel Games creative director Tim Tsang. The Miles Morales: Spider-Man #21 cover is by Insomniac Games senior concept artist Nicholas Schumaker and finally, the Amazing Spider-Man #54 cover is completed by Insomniac Games art director Gavin Goulden which showcases the collision between Miles and the Tinkerer as they battle for the fate of the city. You can see all these variant covers below.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available on November 12 as a PlayStation 5 launch title, alongside the PlayStation 4. The game is available for preorder on Amazon now. As more news releases about the PS5 and Miles Morales, we'll be sure to let you know.
