Super replayable spaceship roguelike Lonestar finally hits 1.0

The roguelike scene is one of the most hotly contested these days, with new entries in the genre (or projects that borrow elements from it) cropping up daily. Despite the torrent of new roguelikes, 2012's Faster Than Light remains one of the best, with its simple but strategic spaceship battles. Lonestar, which has been building itself up in early access for some time now, is probably the closest thing you'll get to a Faster Than Light sequel, and today sees it emerge into 1.0 with impressive amounts of content, loads of replayability, and now a proper final boss.

AI Limit review - a competent but forgettable soulslike

Since Dark Souls' debut in 2011, multiple clones have aspired to its popularity and craft. A few have even reached serious critical and commercial success, like Nioh and Lies of P. AI Limit is at once ambitious and scaled down in the realm of soulslikes. Closer to the action-forward design of Bloodborne than the grand excess of Elden Ring, AI Limit can't compete with the higher budgets of its kin. Instead, developer Sense Games hones its action to a mirror sheen, perhaps familiar but too damn exciting to ignore. In its brass tacks, it is both impressive and capable. However, it is also derivative to a fault. For all its virtues, AI Limit lands in the realm of detestable homage.

When is the Soulframe release date? The upcoming fantasy MMORPG from the creators behind Warframe has been on our minds since it was first announced in 2022.      A cheaper AMD Radeon RX 9070 gaming GPU is in the works, according to this leak

A new budget-friendly AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE graphics card is reportedly on the way, according to a new leak. However, it's unclear if the card is likely to see a launch in the West, as the GRE branding has typically (although not exclusively) been used for cards released in China.

Originally standing for Golden Rabbit Edition, in celebration of the Year of the Rabbit in 2023, AMD recently updated the branding to stand for Great Radeon Edition. While China has been the primary market for GRE GPUs, some cards, such as the AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE, have seen a wider global release, with that card in particular getting a spot in our best graphics card shortlist until recently.

Atomfall endings - all endings and how to unlock them

How do you unlock all the Atomfall endings? Rebellion's survival RPG boasts six endings, and the conditions to meet them often depend on your interactions with specific NPCs and the decisions you make when fulfilling their requests. To keep it simple, we've put together step-by-step instructions so you can unlock every ending in this sci-fi caper. Needless to say, there are spoilers below.

The best ending in Atomfall depends on which factions and characters you prefer. There is no specific 'good' or 'bad' ending, but helping one faction requires you to turn against another. Since you can collect everything you need for all Atomfall endings before the point of no return, we recommend following all the Atomfall leads, then manually saving once you reach the Oberon Dig Site. From here, you can reload your save and unlock every ending in the sandbox game with one playthrough.

An eerie darkness falls over the town of Prospero. The tempest rages, singing songs of destruction. Rain lashes the windows of Hazel Flood's home as she packs up her things in preparation: a storm's coming. As her mother, Lacey, returns from work, she tasks Hazel with checking on their neighbors, one of whom is playing music on his jukebox and tempting fate, while the other hunkers down and braces. As Hazel steps back into the flickering neon light, her home detaches from its foundations and is swept into the creek with Lacey in tow. This is our introduction to South of Midnight.

The cost of building a new gaming PC is about to skyrocket, say manufacturers

The cost of buying parts for your next gaming PC build is about to go up, according to comments made by component manufacturers and custom PC builders. The recently announced import tariffs by the Trump administration look set to hit the price of a number of components, including PC cases and graphics cards.

As far as the industry is concerned, tariffs are likely to force consumer prices to rise across the board, no matter whether you're planning the best gaming PC or a more budget-focused build. Companies such as InWin and Silverstone have already shared their concerns, but in the end, it's gamers who will end up paying the price.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti guide: Everything we know about the new GPU so far

According to the latest GPU gossip in the rumor mill, Nvidia is working on a new budget gaming GPU that potentially has even more VRAM than the RTX 5070. The new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti specs are rumored to cater for both 8GB and 16GB versions, like the RTX 4060 Ti before it, and the price will hopefully be well under $500.

Nvidia hasn't officially announced the RTX 5060 Ti, or the RTX 5060 for that matter, but rumors about the GPU's specs have been swirling for a while. The GPU maker has already released four new desktop GPUs based on the Blackwell architecture, and you can read our RTX 5090 review to see how the flagship performs.      Best Warzone Kar98k loadout

What is the best Warzone Kar98k loadout? An oldie but a goodie, the Kar98k is a WW2-era, bolt-action marksman rifle that is simplistic and deadly, and it's finally back. Anyone who brushed against Warzone in the early days will know the Kar98k and just how effective it is; with lightning-fast ADS speed and pinpoint accuracy, it is capable of taking down multiple opponents with ease.

The fan-favorite weapon came back into the fray a few seasons ago, and with it came a new age of sniper supremacy that many of us have been craving since the early days of Verdansk.      A Steam Deck-like experience for Windows 11 handhelds is coming, leak suggests

Microsoft is reportedly making it easier to use Windows 11 on your next handheld gaming PC. A new datamining leak has suggested that Microsoft is gearing up to launch a new full-screen Xbox interface for handheld devices, similar to how Valve's SteamOS works on the Steam Deck.

Given the hints earlier this week about an Asus-made Xbox handheld, it does make sense that Microsoft would want to improve the Windows 11 experience on handhelds. Some of the best gaming handhelds out there, like the Asus ROG Ally, do run Windows, but the best experience so far has been found using the Steam Deck, and Microsoft needs to do something to avoid falling even further behind.

     Best AIO cooler 2025

What is the best AIO cooler? It will stop your CPU from overheating during intense gaming sessions while keeping the inside of your PC looking spacious and clean. Custom water cooling might look even slicker, and air coolers can be cheaper, but a top AIO cooler is a great way to keep your CPU cool.

Our top choice for most gamers needing a powerful cooler is the MSI MEG CoreLiquid S360, as its 360mm radiator can disipate loads of heat but it should fit in most PC cases. Plus, it looks great and has a useful built in screen. For the ultimate in cooling power, the Arctic Liquid Freezer III 420 houses a huge 420mm radiator that can deal with basically any CPU. Meanwhile, the CoolerMaster MasterLiquid ML240L V2 RGB is a great choice for those on a budget but still needing plenty of cooling power. For more guidance on what to look for in an AIO cooler, check the how to choose section of this guide and have a read of the FAQ to find answers to the most common cooler questions.

     Best wireless gaming mouse 2025

What is the best wireless gaming mouse? That all depends on your needs, but we're here to guide you through how to choose the right model for you and your gaming PC setup. Stepping up to a wireless rodent from a wired mouse can be transformational, whether you're after a lightweight competitive pointer or a more relaxed, multi-function unit. These days you don't have to worry about wireless mice being slow either, as they now equal wired mice for latency.

After testing dozens of wireless gaming mice, our pick for the best overall is the Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed. It's not the absolute lightest but its performance is fantastic and its price is amazing. The Corsair M75 Air takes the crown for the best lightweight option while the Logitech G903 remains for the best ambidextrous option for left and right handed users.      Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 guide: Everything we know about the new GPU so far

Plenty of rumors about the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 are swirling right now, with the new gaming GPU expected to pick up from where the RTX 4060 left off. Nvidia hasn't officially even announced this budget gaming GPU yet, but it's already started appearing in several places, and we're expecting it to offer a substantial upgrade over the existing RTX 4060.

We've already seen four new GPUs from the Nvidia Blackwell stable, including the RTX 5090 at the very top end. However, the cheapest option is currently the RTX 5070, which starts at an MSRP of $549.99, and realistically usually costs much more than this figure. It's hoped that the RTX 5060 will finally offer a much more reasonably-priced entry in the series, making it the best graphics card for gamers on a tight budget.

After 27 years, classic mech game Future Cop LAPD has a new spiritual successor

1998 was a fantastic year for games. There was Fallout 2, the original Half-Life, Resident Evil 2, and some great strategy hits in Commandos and the first Rainbow Six. Given that lineup, when it comes to looking back at one of gaming's best vintages, it's easy to overlook Future Cop LAPD - created by EA Redwood, the studio that would eventually become Dead Space developer Visceral, it's a vicious and satirical mech shooter with shades of Armored Core and Robocop, and the final game in the broader 'Strike' series. For 27 years, Future Cop has been completely silent, but now, thanks to an independent developer, it's making a spiritual comeback.

I should have been more specific when I said I didn't want developers to make distinct Steam Deck 'versions' of their games: while locking settings, console-style, isn't an ideal solution to ensuring capable performance on underpowered handhelds, offering the option of full Deck optimisation is very much welcome. That's exactly what The Last of Us Part II Remastered does, which goes a long way in explaining why it's a far better game for portable PCs than TLOU Part I was at launch. I'd still see the bottomless blackness of those bugged-out Joel eyebrows in my nightmares, had the horror not rendered sleep impossible.

Whatever peace treaty that allowed erstwhile PS4/PS5 exclusives to slink over to PC has, generally, been a fruitful one. I only say generally because the porting process has seen the occasional whoopsiedoodle, from the face-warpingly sorry state of The Last of Us Part I's initial release to the more recent intrusion of mandatory PSN sign-in requirements.

Happily, The Last of Us Part II Remastered gets off to a much better start. Tech-wise, anyway: the PC version, out today, performs smoothly and is nowhere near as buggy or crashy as Part I was at launch. And while PSN account syncing is still here, it's fully optional, dodging the territorial block-outs and Steam Deck compatability problems that Sony's other recent ports were yoked to.

You'll be able to say hello to their coral because it is, in fact, a hivemind - a biomechanical reef that provides access to a gestalt intelligence called the Chorus, and which extends across their territory much like the Creep of StarCraft's Zerg, but in a less obviously menacing way.

Have you ever woken up and thought to yourself "I'd like to be a bear, or perhaps a moose, just for like, a little bit"? Oddly specific thing to think about first thing in the morning, but Striden has you covered at least. It's a looter shooter, yes, it's a survival game, sure, it's a team-based game, why not! Except sometimes, for some reason, you can just turn into different animals to fight your opponents, like a radioactive bear, which I think is very silly, but in a wonderful kind of way. And, as developer 5 Fortress announced today, it's getting an open beta this weekend so you can see what it's like for yourself.

Let me start this with the memory that always surfaces when I write about Dark Souls multiplayer - the anecdote I've told in several articles, hoping that somebody (you?) will explain. It's 2011 and I'm making my way through Lordran for the first time. I'm in the woods with my longsword and Grass Crest Shield. There is a glimmer through the trees and another player appears, wearing exotic equipment. I raise my guard, anticipating a swift defeat, but the other player only stands and waves. They beckon me deeper into the wood.

It's rarely smart to follow a stranger into the woods. I do so anyway, keeping my distance, shield held out like a passport, and am led to a clearing in which another player kneels. The second player does not react to my arrival. The first player gesticulates urgently.

It's rare that a video game pumps actual joy into my shrunken, leathery heart, but I definitely felt a certain springtime stirring when I first jumped in 3D platformer Demon Tides. Hit the button again exactly when you land and you'll be rewarded with a higher, twirlier jump. Hit it a third time and you'll be treated to a triumphant, arcing somersault. Yes, this is the stuff! This is the old N64 Mario magic I've been missing.

Nostalgia is the enemy of critical thinking, you say? The games industry is a flat circle of corporate iteration, is it? A stifling quAAAgmire from which not even moderate oddballs like New York-based developers Fabraz can escape? I know, I know, but please, let me have this. When you shoot your beginner pistol in action RPG Hell Clock, it feels like someone slapped the foundations of the catacombs you're standing in with a pork chop big enough to decapitate god. There is beefy gun feel, and there is this: a gun chutney so chunksome and tactile I had to check my mouse hadn't suddenly sprouted haptics. As a single player, single class genre entrant, it's not quite fair to compare it to more sprawling mainstays like Diablo 4 or Path Of Exile 2. But I woke up feeling unfair today: even in its demo form, I'd much rather play Hell Clock than either of them.

Drag x drive

Drah x Drive is one of the more unusual games in the Nintendo Switch 2 lineup, as the game is dedicated to highlighting the mouse controls. That's ambitious, and I appreciate it! I also like the approach and design. However, I'm also worried it is the Metroid PrimeBlast Ball

As a refresher, Metroid Prime: Blast Ball was a demo for Metroid Prime: Federation Force and involved a sports game in which two teams of three robots tried to get the most points by getting a ball into a goal. It was designed to show off 3DS multiplayer and could be really fun… if you found enough players. This proved a problem at the Nintendo Switch 2 preview session for Drag x Drive as well.

In Drag x Drive, players are divided into two teams of three. Each one is a robot in a wheelchair. Your goal is to get the ball and toss it into a basketball-style hoop. This can be done from a distance, or you can attempt a sort of dunk by racing toward the inclines near the hoop and shooting from there, getting an extra point in the process for the stylish "trick."

The preview session began with an overview of the controls. Because while Metroid Prime: Blast Ball acted as a multiplayer example, Drag x Drive serves as a showcase of the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. Each one is held with the mouse side against a surface. You're directed to move them as though you're gripping the wheel and pulling to propel yourself, right down to only doing so with one instead of both to turn.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hku89o38-hQ

It works well! It's a bit exhausting, and I found it took some time to really develop the right pacing and "strides" to get optimal speed and more natural turns. Also, due to the haptic feedback of the Switch 2 controls, I imagine it feels exactly like pushing wheels in my hands. The vibration and tactile sensation seems realistic.

However, it's after that tutorial that I encountered two flaws. The first is that in this practice session while waiting for enough players for the match, I learned there's really only one type of shot that feels worth it. That's the one involving racing toward the incline next to the hoop where you're trying to score, then flicking your wrist to toss the ball in. I found the accuracy seemed better at that moment. Plus, you're guaranteed extra points in addition to the standard two, which helps a lot.

The other issue is that there were never enough people during this isolated session to actually play a game. There were plenty of demo stations set up. I actually showed up to it three times, waiting 15 minutes the first one, 10 the second, and five at the very end. It just never happened, and that concerned me. Because if I couldn't encounter enough people to test the game in the ideal circumstances, would I get to once it launches?

I like the idea behind Drag x Drive, and I do think it is helpful to better understand how the Switch 2 mouse controls work. However, I'm concerned about being able to play it in ideal conditions. I never actually got to try a game during this early demo session. If there's a way to mitigate that after launch, such as a campaign or single-player opportunities, I think it could be fine. If not, then I'd be a bit worried, as Drag x Drive feels like a game that might live or die depending on whether it finds a large community of Switch 2 players.

Drag x Drive will come to the Nintendo Switch in Summer 2025.

Donkey Kong Bananza switch 2

When it comes to Donkey Kong games, we tend to get trickier, 2D or 2.5D platformers that often get really punishing! Nintendo is switching things up for the Switch 2 launch however, with the new Donkey Kong Bananza that feels more like an open world adventure along the lines of Super Mario Odyssey. It's definitely feeling Iike it'll fill the action-adventure game for all ages for the launch window and, after a brief encounter with it, I saw some rather promising parts.

Donkey Kong Bananza begins on Ingot Isle. It's an island with shocking mines that include Golden Banana gems. It's attracted all sorts of apes, and Donkey Kong is among them. (He's rocking a more classic look as well!) He's fixated on the gems, early on even snagging another monkey miner's find due to the obsession. However, a group of more malicious simians known as Void Co show up to steal them. With a new ally named Odd Rock on his side, literally since the character is riding on his shoulder, Donkey Kong heads after them.

The initial Ingot Isle mines portion of Donkey Kong Bananza is dedicated to setting the stage. We see how Donkey Kong can punch his way through solid rocks to get the Golden Banana gems. (Which he then busts up and eats. Is that healthy? He seems fine!) Approaching NPC monkeys can help provide insights or allow us to talk with them to advance the adventure. Early on, you have an option to turn on tips that include exclamation points guiding you to your next objectives, which will show up over points of interest and help move you forward.

It's in these early spots that we get to see some of Donkey Kong's new tricks. Though many are old ones being shown in a new type of adventure. His bashing things is one element. His punches can break through walls and help create paths to places in spots. You can do a ground pound on places to flip switches or slap the ground. It's possible to scale walls and climb up them to reach new places. He's a versatile ape!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIddsPkdX9U

After seeing Void Co's theft, my Donkey Kong Bananza session took me to another new area called Lagoon Layer. After eavesdropping on some scavenger monkeys in this layer, we learn that we can rip explosive blocks from walls and toss them to defeat enemies or further destroy the environment, perhaps leading to secret areas hiding more items, Golden Banana gems, or fossils that you can trade in later.

Most of my time in this area felt like it was trying to introduce this mechanic and offer opportunities to experiment with it. There are multiple walls with visible gold and items embedded in them, providing plenty of opportunity to yank a bomb off a wall and through to collect pieces. One devious enemy features a spiked top, spinning blades that help it fly, and a claw at the bottom that lets it pick up rubble and drop it on your to attack. How do you beat it? Grab a bomb and chuck it! I was also pleased to find a visibly weak wall that could be bombed to access a hidden area, with collectible items and a fossil inside.

The main point of this area is to help the monkeys around out and reach a new area by stopping a Void Co block keeping water from draining. A key has to be found to unlock it. That means using bombs to destroy the stony, armored exterior of a large enemy near the lock to reveal the golden skeleton holding a key at the center. Once you break through, it's easy to bust it up, steal the key, pop it in the lock, and hit it to spin it to advance to the next spot.

I was a bit uncertain about Donkey Kong Bananza at first glance, even though I love the new design for the lead. After trying it, it feels like the same sort of bright and colorful adventure as Super Mario Odyssey, with nooks to explore, additional objectives to perhaps undertake as we head to face Void Co, and lots of things to collect. Donkey Kong Bananza feels like it's his Super Mario Odyssey, and the Switch 2 game is big on busting things up through colorful layers.

Donkey Kong Bananza will come to the Nintendo Switch 2 on July 17, 2025.

Mario kart world switch 2

Mario Kart World is going to be the flagship Nintendo Switch 2 designed to entice us into adopting the console and highlight what sets it apart from the original system. Now, I didn't get to try every element of the game, like the free driving across the world to see courses, the ways in which multiplayer can work with a smaller group, or the full-fledged, four course Grand Prix experiences we're used to. However, I did get to be a Cow riding on a Cute Scoot and almost made it into the top 12 of a Knockout Tour, and that's pretty great.

My first experience with Mario Kart World involved going through one track in Grand Prix against another person before heading into a single race on my own. In the case of the former, it was a slice of the game that was essentially predetermined. I could pick from a wide roster of already unlocked characters. Rather than skins, each version of a character is a different variant, so you would see standard Daisy and Swimsuit Daisy, and so on. I went with the Cow from Moo Moo Meadows, because of course I did, and initially picked a standard kart.

The good news is, all of your muscle memory from Mario Kart 8 and its Deluxe release will kick in again. The controls are all the same, and the general "feel" of racing is as well. So you'll lean into turns, drift to boost, and need to time your item attacks to send things careening forward and back.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pE23YTYEZM

The change is that now each course feels like it is actually a road taking you on a journey. You aren't looping around in circles. In one situation, I was going through an area that eventually turned forested, with dinosaurs roaming around. With the right timing, I went right up one's head and back. We'll go along roads. We'll travel. We'll see things change. This also means the weather will shift since we're actually journeying around the world as we drive. In particular, the rain storm really struck me, as it meant a different in lighting, the rain was pouring down, and I can't be certain, but it also almost felt like the road conditions maybe changed a bit?

The progression also means we'll see a bit more types of roads, which also means different approaches to these elements. In the April 2025 Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, we saw characters grinding on rails. Well, that's definitely present here! If you happen to get the new feather power-up, reminiscent of the Super Mario World item, you get a higher jump that makes it easier to get on top of these or reach different areas. However, I also ended up grinding after other situations that didn't involve a standard jump. It offers a degree of safety, a little speed, and the ability to do the jump effect after for a quick boost.

The feather isn't the only new type of power-up I found. Another vastly increased the size of my character and kart when I was playing as an especially dapper King Boo (complete with monocle) riding a Cute Scoot scooter in a single-player Grand Prix race. This allows you to just roll over everything, including enemies or NPC cars heading from the other direction. It's so powerful. The other is that you can happen upon food trucks or stops that offer a regenerating bag of food. Snag one, and you get a power boost from the item that's now trailing behind you.

But it was the Knockout Tour that most impressed me during my Switch 2 demo sessions. Part of this is because during that session, I got to sample free roaming. As you wait for everyone to show up, you can explore the course and area you're in. This is fantastic for finding secrets you can exploit during the race, as well as just explore elements that you might never see during a race. I discovered one of those food truck options, a shortcut to another area, and realized that just dropping off the side of this area wouldn't bring up a Lakitu to save me! Instead, I'd plummet to the bottom of the area and get to explore there too.

Once everyone showed up, we voted for the areas we wanted to race through. This works like multiplayer in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, in that everyone gets a vote, and randomly one person's selection is chosen. From there, you ride! As you reach what would normally be the indicator of the next lap, you'll see a number showing the cut-off for elimination. So initially it goes from 24 to 20. That number keeps dropping. I ended up being cut out of the top 12 in true Mario Kart fashion. That is, there were about five of us right there, it seemed like I was in ninth place, but someone had saved up some red shells and knocked me into 13th. Alas.

During my preview session, Mario Kart World felt like a reinvention of a game and series we love that only adds to the experience without detracting any of what we appreciate. The Grand Prix mode feels more traditional, even as the tracks instead send us traveling around the world. The Knockout Tour feels like a new way of helping us potentially be our best. We can be the Moo Moo from Moo Moo Meadow. What I saw left me wanting to see more, and I hope for the best for the final version of the game.

Mario Kart World will come to the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025.

Metroid prime 4 switch 2

The Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Switch 2 edition begins with a flash of nostalgia. Samus descends top of her ship to a planet surface below. An artifact is in danger, and she's one of the few that can help protect it. And, since this is the updated Switch 2 version of the game, she's doing so at 120fps and 1080p, complete with optional mouse controls. After going hands on with part of it, it certainly feels comfortable.

The Uto Research Station is under assault by space pirates as I arrive. My goal? Protect the mysterious artifact they are attempting to steal. As this demo contained a slice of gameplay from early on, it included every tutorial. Except in the case of Metroid Prime 4, it didn't really feel like a tutorial. Instead, it was more like a reminder of how mechanics I was well acquainted with work. See enemies? Hold the left trigger to lock onto it, then fire. Hold down the fire button, and it charges up for a stronger attack. Press down on the left Joy-Con D-pad? It's rocket time! Happen upon a door or thing that can be scanned? Bring up the visor to take a look. Though, in the case of this early sample, the only scanning of note involved checking two doors to find the four points I needed to shoot on them to unlock them.

One of the standout portions during this segment involved the introduction of Samus' Morph Ball feature. As usual, with a press of a button she becomes a more compact ball that can move about the area and drop bombs with a push of a button. This allows not only access to new areas, but in the case of the demo's boss fight also let me perform some evasive maneuvers to get around a certain type of attack. But when it's first introduced, it involves dashing along a "track" in the vent and ceiling area above rooms space pirates are scouring and destroying. While there's no immediate danger to her, the atmosphere in this portion is fantastic, lending a sense of urgency due to the fantastic story being told in the background as someone moves from point A to point B.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmwAhBxakw4

It all felt reassuringly familiar, however the Metroid Prime 4 Switch 2 edition also made me wonder if the system's mouse controls would be the ideal way to possibly play. When going through this slice of the game, I could place the right Joy-Con down at any time to immediately start playing with a control scheme that involved moving, locking on, and controlling ammo with the left controller, but using more precise aiming, shooting, and swapping to Morph Ball and back with the right "mouse." In every situation, it worked. It felt completely natural.

The only downside is that when I was going to attempt to use a more standard control scheme… it seemed like maybe the effortless swap between Joy-Con and mouse control got in the way. This is because the way I held the right controller meant that my finger was actually getting in the way of the sensor because of the way I was gripping it. Now, I could easily see this eliminated by using the adapter, playing in handheld mode, grabbing a Pro Controller, or using the mouse control scheme that seemed like an excellent fit. But I do wonder if the full game will allow an option to turn mouse controls off for people who do want to go with a more traditional option, but don't have the holder for the Joy-Cons or a Pro Controller.

My Metroid Prime 4 Switch 2 Edition preview session ended with a boss fight. Samus reaches the artifact! But the space pirates are also there, led by Aberax. Again, as it is an early fight, it feels like it is introducing us to what Samus can do. There are four clearly marked weak points on the foe's chest, which you need to hit with weapons. However, as you do, Aberax might put up shields to guard some of them, shoot back at you, grab you if you get too close, or send out rays of energy you must jump over to evade. Once all four of those are hit, a fifth weak point appears. Samus can dash closer to strike it. However, that means also potentially being grabbed. Not to mention the AOE attack includes basically walls of energy that must be double-jumped over or ducked under by transforming into a ball. It's all manageable, of course, and feels like a great test of the mouse-based control scheme for hitting those precise spots or getting used to Samus' maneuvering and dodging options.

I am so excited about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond after playing it on a Switch 2. I knew I was interested. It seemed impressive in early trailers. However, it was just so fluid seeing how strong it looked at 120fps. The opening segment I experienced felt so natural and involved the strong mechanics I knew and loved. The mouse control scheme worked so well when I chose to use it. Metroid Prime 4 seems not only exciting, but like a great showcase of the Switch 2 capabilities.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will come to the Switch and Switch 2 in 2025.

Nintendo switch 2 preview

The Nintendo Switch 2 looks, well, a lot like the original console! It isn't unexpected. The SNES resembled the NES, and the Wii U's main console had a lot in common with the Wii. After going hands on with the Switch 2 at a preview event, as well as using it with multiple games in different ways, I feel like it is exactly what we would expect Nintendo to do next, and the changes that did happen are substantial.

Before I even got to use a Nintendo Switch 2, I got a quick preview of the system itself. Units appeared for us to hold and mess around with, in order to better examine their construction. The magnets in the left and right Joy-Cons are stronger than I expected. Initial images concerned me, as my original Switch started to get a bit finicky and wobbly, and I know my Lenovo Legion Go's controllers popped off when I thought they were secured. However, these seemed stable and secure! I yanked! They didn't move unless I held down the buttons to release them.

As for the console itself, the new Nintendo Switch 2 still felt as comfortable to hold as the original system. The weight isn't all that dissimilar. Since the width is the same, it was just as comfortable to hold it in my hands. The larger screen size is immediately different, and once I did play Mario Kart World in handheld mode, I could see how bright and vibrant it is. In short, I can already tell I'll want to prioritize playing it in handheld mode yet again.

I will say that I'm not so confident in the new stand. I feel the best Switch system stand so far is the Switch OLED model. It covers the whole length of the unit. It's stable. It offers a range of angles to properly display things in tabletop mode. While the Switch 2 stand is better than the original system's, I feel like the new one is slightly less substantial. The gap concerns me, considering it only offers something of an outline along the bottom of the system, and I noticed it already seemed to bend a bit when I pulled it out.

As far as performance goes, I could already see some notable improvements during my preview sessions. For example, Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza seem like good showcases for what the system can do. The loading times during the demos for each one were minimal. Each one looked incredibly crisp and vibrant. The changes in weather in Mario Kart World especially offered a great example of how detailed everything can look and the improvements in lighting and texture. The differences between sunny skies and rain on the same track especially helped. And in the case of Metroid Prime 4 Switch 2 Edition, it looked so incredibly smooth and natural in 120fps.

I also noticed that some of the more unique Switch 2 features added for this new version of the console impressed during preview sessions. The mouse support is fantastic. I sampled it in Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, Drag x Drive, Metroid Prime 4 Switch Edition, and Civilization VII. In each case, it was responsive, accurate, and in some cases offered additional valuable haptic feedback. With Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TVI was able to test out the microphone as it picked up my voice during a minigame. Even though this was an incredibly loud space, with other games being played and people talking, it caught my screams. I was impressed to see exactly how good it was picking up the sounds.

The difference between the Nintendo Switch 2 and the original console may not be as drastic as, say, the change between the Wii U and Switch. However, what's happening here still seems quite impressive. Games look and run better on the system. The Joy-Cons work well, with the mouse controls being a welcome addition for the games I tested. The time I got to spent checking out the Switch 2 at the preview proved impressive, and it seems like an encouraging view of things to come.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will debut on June 5, 2025.

Storm doesn't appear to have a fresh look for the Hellfire Gala and instead can be spotted wearing her Goddess of Thunder attire. She has a halo of lightning-infused blue hair, shining silver armor, and lots of blue accents.

Star-Lord Hellfire Gala skin

Looking nearly unrecognizable, Star-Lord's Hellfire Gala look is featured on the cover art for season two. He looks more like a mix between Captain America and Homelander from The Boys than Star-Lord to me, and the only way I was able to deduce that it was him is the signature Guardians of the Galaxy symbol pinned on his chest.

Scarlet Witch Hellfire Gala skin

Wearing her signature color red as always, Scarlet Witch gets some beaded accessories, a taller and more pointed crown, and some deeper shades of maroon for her Hellfire Gala look. Her hair also seems to have a similar effect to her Emporium Matron with a light red starry effect near her ends.

Loki Hellfire Gala skin

Loki's Hellfire Gala skin is him in full Presidental Attire. This isn't a new look for him since it's already been available in Marvel Rivals for a while. He has a shorter golden crown than usual, a fluffy deep emerald coat, and plenty of golden accessories.

How to get all Hellfire Gala outfits in Marvel Rivals

Most of the Hellfire Gala outfits will likely be obtainable through the seasonal battle pass since it's the theme of the entire season. This hasn't been officially confirmed yet, but the season two trailer showcases exactly 13 new skins, which is just one more than the amount featured on the season one battle pass, so most of them are expected to be available through the seasonal pass.

best kilo 141 loadout warzone

The Kilo 141 Assault Rifle has also made a comeback alongside Verdansk in Call of Duty Warzone Season 3, and to use it to the best potential, you must use the right loadout to shred enemies even from a distance.

In battle royale, you have to keep several factors in mind, such as the right optic as most of the gunfights are ranged, the right underbarrel so that you can control the weapon's recoil, and more. You will find it all in this Kilo 141 loadout.

Table of Contents

The best Kilo 141 loadout to use in Warzone Season 3

best kilo 141 loadout in warzone season 3
Screenshot by Destructoid

  • Optic: Willis 3x
  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: Reinforced Barrel
  • Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
  • Magazine: Extended Mag II
  • Rear Grip: Quickdraw Grip
  • Stock: Infiltrator Stock
  • Fire Mods: 5.56 Nato Overpressured

I am using an 8-attachment loadout for the Kilo 141, which means equipping the Gunfighter Wildcard is a must.

Why should you choose this loadout?

For the optic, I've chosen the Willis 3x as it provides a clear sight without bottlenecking field of view and providing enough zoom to engage in long-range gunfights. As the name suggests, it provides a 3x magnification and improves the recoil gun kick but the aim down sight speed takes a slight hit.

Warzone and Black Ops 6 Season 3 also brought the Monolithic Suppressor back, and I've equipped it as the muzzle. It will not ping you on enemies' mini-map during firing while significantly increasing the Kilo 141's bullet velocity and damage range, which is very crucial for Battle Royale. Go with the Reinforced Barrel, as it acts as a catalyst to the Monolithic Suppressor by further improving the bullet velocity and damage range.

The magazine size plays a big role in this game mode, so go with the Extended Mag II as it will hold a total of 60 bullets in one. The downside of this attachment is it increases the ADS speed and Sprint to Fire speed.

The Quickdraw Grip is necessary to counter that issue as it significantly increases the ADS speed while aiming both normally and jumping. The Infiltrator Stock will improve the aim walking movement speed, which is a nice enhancement for BR.

Lastly, the 5.56 Nato Overpressured fire mod acts as the cherry on top as it further increases the bullet velocity of the gun.

Now that you know the best Warzone loadout for the AR, do check out the best Kilo 141 loadout for Black Ops 6 multiplayer.

Hazel in South of Midnight cover

Amid a flood of open-world game releases, South of Midnight arrived just in time, rescuing me from the weariness of endless exploration. While vast universes can be captivating, there are moments when I crave a more intimate scope, whether in linear gameplay or world-building. Thankfully, South of Midnight delivers, presenting an action adventure deeply rooted in an enthralling narrative.

During my preview, I was quickly mesmerized—perhaps woven is the better word—by the stop-motion universe of South of Midnight. But now that I've fully indulged in a complete playthrough, its unique charm is abundantly clear. This sense of distinctiveness comes as no surprise, given the idiosyncratic nature of Compulsion Games' previous titles, such as We Happy Few and Contrast.

South of Midnight (PC, Xbox Series X|S [reviewed])

Developer: Compulsion Games

Publisher: Xbox Game Studios

Released: Apr 8, 2025

MSRP: $49.99

Meet Hazel, girl wonder

In South of Midnight, we meet Hazel, a young woman on the fast track to college. But just as she was about to leave, a devastating flood carried her home away, with her helpless mother still inside. As she races to save her mom, Hazel discovers the magic within herself as a Weaver, a mystical mender capable of untangling and healing the fractured threads of an individual's suffering. It'll also lend a hand with combat, where one's suffering transforms into demonic enemies known as Haints. Additionally, she possesses the power to bottle this pain, a concept drawn from Southern folklore.

Hazel's reactions to her newfound power and the supernatural world are among the many reasons I grew to love her. She keeps it real, often questioning the reality of it all with a string of colorful expletives. It's fascinating to hear such profanity in a world like this, and it comes as a refreshing surprise. I'd much rather have a protagonist who questions it than one who accepts everything immediately and moves on without a second thought. It feels far more believable and relatable that way.

Despite her reluctance to embrace her Weaver abilities, Hazel understands they are her only hope to save her mother. She will need them to heal the tortured souls and characters she encounters on her journey, bringing her ever closer to her ultimate goal. Every character she comes across draws her into their poignant stories, revealing memories that will undoubtedly tug at your heartstrings. The story structure reminds me a lot of What Remains of Edith Finch as you unravel the weight of traumatic pasts, piece by piece. However, South of Midnight adds a mystical twist woven through Hazel's Weaver powers.

A Weaver's might

Hazel's role as a Weaver manifests in three distinct forms: combat, traversing, and her aptitude to mend what's broken. For combat, Hazel primarily utilizes her trusty Hooks, allowing her to create magical strands that can push, pull, weave, and control enemies. I appreciate the diversity in her powers, which gave me many more options to work with in terms of strategy. Due to the Balanced difficulty I had chosen, battles offered a nice blend of intense challenges and triumphs. The sheer number of enemies on the field can sometimes feel overwhelming. The boss battles can be even more brutal in light of their extensive area of effect with attacks. Yet, being naturally drawn to a challenge, it only fueled my desire to keep playing—and it certainly didn't hurt that there were a few healing items available with each showdown.

In general, South of Midnight's combat is an exhilarating experience, where Hazel's swift dodges and diverse array of robust abilities make you feel truly powerful. Though, I will say every once in a while, it gets tedious, especially when you have to fight over and over again. On the bright side, this feeling usually doesn't last long once you discover a new enemy type that has the potential to switch up your strategies.

Hazel fighting a Hait

In addition to the sheer destructive power of Hazel's abilities, Weaving proves invaluable when traversing the enchanting map inspired by the American Deep South. With maneuvers like double jumps, wall runs, and my personal favorite—gliding—the exploration becomes as enjoyable as the combat. It seamlessly offers all my favorite gaming movements into one, crafting the ultimate traversal experience. Moreover, the world around you is nothing short of breathtaking, from its sweeping forests to the meticulous details in every room you explore. I've never encountered such a lively, vibrant world in a game before, and I applaud the developers for bringing this beauty to life. While some stop-motion animations may occasionally give the impression of stuttering, these moments are rare and hardly detract from the overall experience.

Exploration also shines through two other delightful highlights: the ever-helpful Strand guide and her charming companion, Crouton. The Strands showcase a beam that directs you to where you need to go. Sure, it's a little bit hand-holding, but it beats the confusion of wandering around aimlessly. Then, there's Crouton, the true MVP of South of Midnight. Not only can this companion get you through tight spaces, but it also takes over enemies to give you some extra cover. On top of all these features, Hazel's Hooks conjure objects that are no longer of this world, including bridges and wagons. You'll employ them to traverse to various points of interest.

Story games are back and better than ever

At its core, South of Midnight revolves around the Weaving power's true essence: the ability to heal broken souls. Here, the game's storytelling takes center stage as Hazel unravels the tangled threads of each individual's heartache. I won't spoil the details of their stories, so you can experience them firsthand. Suffice it to say, while each character's narrative is brief, they are impactful, featuring realistic portrayals of struggle and compelling life lessons that even made me reflect on my own journey.

Hazel's relationship with her mother, in particular, resonated deeply with me. It prompted me to look at the bond I share with my own mother and how I, too, would go to any lengths for her, even attempting to outrun a flood. The deep connection I experienced with South of Midnight made me shed a few tears every time I got to the roots of each character's journey. I don't think I've cried at a game since Red Dead Redemption 2, making this a truly rare occurrence.

Hazel in a garden
Image via Compulsion Games

The voice cast also excels in portraying emotions, embodying both the pain and joy their characters experience. The soundtrack complements this perfectly, filling the air with classic Southern tunes with themes of heartache and hope. Each song tells its own story through its riveting lyrics and melodies that deepen the emotional impact.

Overall, South of Midnight is the very game I've been seeking—a rich narrative without the burden of overly lengthy gameplay. Oh, how I've missed linear games that can be completed in a day, and fortunately, Compulsion Games has fulfilled that need. It'll take you roughly 10 to 12 hours to complete, give or take a few more hours if you navigate the many side paths.

South of Midnight stands as one of the best story-driven games I've experienced in a long time, one that invites deep exploration of its lore and reflection on each character's journey. Beyond its compelling narrative, the game is simply a joy to play, thanks to its versatile combat and traversal mechanics. For those seeking an immersive story, South of Midnight is the perfect remedy. And with Xbox Game Pass, it's readily available at your fingertips upon release.

a screenshot of the barrow dyad in destiny 2

Exotic weapons and catalysts have always been the highlight of Destiny, and if you want to unlock the full potential of the Barrow-Dyad, you'll need the One For All catalyst. Here's how to start the Hundredfold Path quest in Destiny 2 to get you started.

Unlocking A Hundredfold Path in Destiny 2

First things first, you can only unlock A Hundredfold Path in Destiny 2 if you have access to the Sunless Cell strike, which is part of Episode Heresy. You'll then need to complete Sunless Cell once, and you'll receive the Hundredfold Path quest step.

You'll only be able to check out the Episode Heresy content if you've purchased the season pass, the individual Episodes themselves, or the Final Shape bundle. Keep in mind, however, that if you bought the Final Shape bundle before the release of Episode Heresy, you won't get access to it. The bundle gives you access to whatever the latest Episode release is at the time, and you'll need to buy the ones after that to continue playing.

a screenshot of the sunless cell strike in destiny 2
Screenshot captured by Destructoid

Once you have Episode Heresy unlocked, simply play through the campaign and you'll unlock the Sunless Cell strike in the third act. Then, you can get started on your quest to unlock One For All. The strike can be located in The Last City on your Director, near the HELM.

Why isn't Hundredfold Path showing up after completing Sunless Cell?

One important thing to keep in mind is that you need to clear the Sunless Cell strike with the Barrow-Dyad equipped. To be safe, I recommend using the SMG to defeat the final boss of the strike. This will guarantee that you get the Trembling Osseous Spine, which is the item you need to start A Hundredfold Path.

If you've already cleared the strike, you'll need to run it again with Barrow-Dyad in your equipped slots.

How to clear Sunless Cell with high rate-of-fire weapons

As part of the Hundredfold Path quest chain, you'll first need to collect all 10 Tithing Wormspawns, and the final step will task you with clearing Sunless Cell yet again. This time, you'll need to beat the strike with high rate-of-fire weapons.

For this run, it's not necessary to have the Barrow-Dyad equipped though it certainly doesn't hurt; just use any SMG, Auto Rifle, or Machine Gun to get the job done.

And that's everything you need to know about the Hundredfold Path quest in Destiny 2. Be sure to search up Destructoid for more tips and information on the game.

A player standing next to the Exchange Shop NPC that sells Guild Tickets in the Arise Crossover Roblox experience

The Guilds system in Arise Crossover is one of the most in-depth game mechanics. Currently, you can get various buffs just by being a part of a Guild. As the Guild grows larger, these buffs get even better. To answer the questions of how to create, join, and leave a Guild, as well as all others you may have, we prepared the following Arise Crossover Guild guide.

What are Guilds in Arise Crossover

Guilds in Arise Crossover let you organize with other players into groups and more easily party up to grind various types of content. As a Guild levels up, it can unlock specific permanent passive bonuses. For example, you can get increased Shadow damage and attack range, more Shadow equip slots, etc.

How to Create, Join, or Leave a Guild in Arise Crossover

Preview of the Guild menu in Arise Crossover Roblox experience
In the Guild menu, you can create a Guild, leave it, chat with others, etc.

Creating a Guild in Arise Crossover is very simple; all you need is a Guild Ticket, which you can buy at the Exchange Shop NPC in Solo City. If you want to join a Guild, someone has to invite you to it, as there is no option to apply for a Guild in Arise Crossover at the moment. Finally, if you ever decide that you want to leave a Guild, you can do that in the "Main" section of the Guilds menu.

How to Get a Guild Ticket

  • A player showing the location of the Guild building in the Arise Crossover Roblox experience
  • A player showing the elevator you need to take to get to the upper floor of the Guild building in Arise Crossover Roblox experience
  • A player showing the location of the Exchange Shop on the upper floor of the Guild building in Arise Crossover Roblox experience
  • Preview of the Exchange Shop stock in Arise Crossover Roblox experience

To get a Guild Ticket needed to create a Guild in Arise Crossover, you have to go to the Guild building in Solo City. This building is very close to the Spawn area of the island. There, you will find the Exchange Shop NPC that sells Guild Tickets for 250 Tickets Icon of the Ticket item in Arise Crossover Roblox experience. If you don't have enough Tickets Icon of the Ticket item in Arise Crossover Roblox experience, you can farm more of them by defeating Dungeon bosses. Alternatively, you can get some by chilling in the AC AFK Rewards lobby.

Donating Gems and Upgrading a Guild in Arise Crossover

To upgrade a Guild in Arise Crossover, everyone in it should donate as many Gems Icon for Gems from the Arise Crossover Roblox experience as they can spare. The more Gems Icon for Gems from the Arise Crossover Roblox experienceyou have in the Guild, the more you can upgrade the buffs that Guilds offer. Also, if everyone donates enough Gems Icon for Gems from the Arise Crossover Roblox experience, you might get into the top 100 on the Guild leaderboard. This information is still unconfirmed, but we expect this leaderboard to reset at some point. Then, the members of the top-ranking Arise Crossover Guilds will get some exclusive rewards.

That does it for our guide on how to create, join, and leave a Guild in Arise Crossover. If you want to find out how to approach Dungeons in AC, check out our Arise Crossover guides to Dungeons and Runes.

CR-56 AMAX Game Over blueprint BO6 Warzone

Call of Duty's season three for Black Ops 6 is like stepping into a time machine back into Warzone's heyday of 2020, including Verdansk and several returning weapons, like the CR-56 AMAX.

The CR-56 AMAX could be the new meta loadout in Warzone for mid-range battles. Early signs indicate that this gun will be the top pick among players in the return to Verdansk in BO6 season three, meaning you should level it up as soon as possible.

This gun is "deadly at mid-range," as its in-game description suggests, so you can use it for that or even long-range encounters in Verdansk. You can even pair it up with the one-shot-kill HDR sniper rifle, too.

Here's our pick for the best attachments to use on the AMAX in Warzone season three.

Best AMAX build in Warzone

Best AMAX build in Warzone BO6

Slot Attachment
Optic Willis 3x
(3x Magnification, Recoil Gun Kick)
Muzzle Monolithic Suppressor
(No Mini-Map Firing Ping, Bullet Velocity, Damage Range)
Barrel Long Barrel
(Damage Range)
Underbarrel Vertical Foregrip
(Horizontal Recoil Control)
Magazine Magazine
(Extended Mag I - 45)
Rear Grip Commando Grip
(ADS Speed, Jumping Sprint to Fire Speed, Sprint to Fire Speed, Jumping ADS Speed)
Gunfighter
Stock Balanced Stock
(Strafing Movement Speed, Hipfire Movement Speed, Movement Speed, Aim Walking Movement Speed)
Gunfighter
Fire Mods Recoil Springs
(Recoil Stabilization, Vertical Recoil Control, Horizontal Recoil Control)
Gunfighter

These first five attachments are must-use on the AMAX, and the final three can be added as part of a Gunfighter loadout, which is what we've chosen to go with. But if you'd prefer the cheaper weapon-buy alternative, then swap out the Rear Grip, Stock, and Fire Mods.

The Game Over blueprint for the AMAX, which is found in the 3,000 CoD Point Tracer Pack: Digital Dreamin' Mastercraft Bundle, has a sneaky borderline "pay-to-win" attachment in the Willis 3x since it looks and performs so similarly to the VLK 3.0 scope from Warzone's past, and sweaties are jumping all over the bundle.

If you don't want to spend the cash, I don't blame you, but you don't need to worry because the normal Willis 3x works just fine with this loadout, or the Jason Armory 2x as well. Regardless of which you choose, this weapon does solid damage at mid-range in Verdansk.

Pace your shots and even mount up on something, and you may be able to take down foes at a long range in Verdansk's open fields, but make sure to bring a good SMG like the C9 with you if you are looking to head indoors for close-quarters combat.

Best AMAX loadout in Warzone

AMAX loadout for Warzone BO6

  • Special: Sirin 9mm

    • Optic: Iron Sight
    • Muzzle: Suppressor
    • Barrel: Long Barrel
    • Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
    • Magazine: Extended Mag I

  • Tactical: Smoke Grenade
  • Lethal: Semtex
  • Perk 1: Survivor
  • Perk 2: Sprinter
  • Perk 3: Tempered
  • Wildcard: Gunfighter

As I've chosen Gunfighter for this build, I like to bring the Sirin 9mm with me in my loadout just in case I haven't found or bought a strong SMG just yet, but a good close-range gun can be found on the ground or dropped by a teammate just as easily.

For perks, I've chosen Sprinter for perk two, but Quick Fix is another option if you prefer the versatility and health regen boost it offers. I like to be able to sprint recklessly while using an AR, though, especially if I'm not guaranteed a gun with good mobility.

fools gold challenge and get the fools key in dead rails

Not gonna lie, when I first saw the changelog and the update, I thought the devs were trolling. Don't get me wrong, I still think they're trolling, but once I've played it a bit, the update makes sense. Thankfully, it's a short one, so I've decided to get to work and show you how to beat the Fools Good challenge and get the Fools Key in Dead Rails. It's not rocket science, cowboy!

Fools Gold Challenge Guide in Dead Rails

There are no special requirements to complete this, which is a nice surprise. A lot of Roblox experiences fall into the notorious trap of making their challenges too convoluted, so this is a nice breath of fresh air. What you'll want to do is gather up a bag of supplies so that you have enough coal to keep going further when the going gets tough. Once you've prepped your goodies, it's time to move on.

fools gold challenge and get the fools key in dead rails
Screenshot with Destructoid

Now, I would strongly advise against stopping at random places, even if you're not playing solo. The only exception is when you see a mine shaft. They're usually not far from the tracks, and are easy to spot since they're black rocks with protruding pieces of gold. Don't be wasteful, and also make sure you've analyzed our Dead Rails class tier list so that you have the best possible player composition.

fools gold challenge and get the fools key in dead rails
Screenshot with Destructoid

Around 7,000-8,000m, you'll notice a mid-sized town with burning buildings. Disembark the train and head straight there. Be careful for the mobs, as Zombies are usually clustered in far corners of the town. Take them all out and ransack the builds until you find pieces of Fools Good. They're big, round and hidden in the houses, so don't give up until you've looked through every single nook and cranny imaginable.

fools gold challenge and get the fools key in dead rails
Screenshot with Destructoid

There's also a safe you can crack in one of the houses, and the numbers are scattered throughout the town. You'll find A LOT of bonds and everything else, but make sure you don't overburden yourself. You simply don't need money that much in this run. When you come back to a safe zone, make sure you throw your Fools Gold onto the table FROM A DISTANCE, since enemies can spawn and kill you. It's all random, fool!

How to Get the Fools Key in Dead Rails

Now that you've angered the RNG gods and gotten a couple hundred bucks, it's time to focus on how to get the Fools Key in Dead Rails. Fortunately, it's nothing convoluted. In fact, you just follow the same pattern as when you're selling Fools Gold. Make sure you dodge the enemies and get the money, and after 5-10 (could be more, depending on the RNG) tries, the Fools Key will drop. It's a big one, isn't it?

fools gold challenge and get the fools key in dead rails
Screenshot with Destructoid

After that, there's no specific task aside from reaching the end of the game. Of course, it's on you if you want to speed-run it or not, but I'd strongly advise against unnecessary stops. Keep on going until you're around 80k. You'll see a forters at the end of the tracks. Your first task is to take out the Snipers perched on top of the walls. I'd also use a Horse since it makes jiggling to evade bullets so much easier.

Once you've taken out all the Outlaws in the town, pick up the Fools Key and look for a large structure with a locked door on the left. Just take the key to it, use it and you're good to go. You'll get around 40-50 bonds total, so it's a nice haul for a small little challenge.

fools gold challenge and get the fools key in dead rails
Screenshot with Destructoid

Voila! That wasn't so hard, was it? See, I told you that learning how to beat the Fools Good challenge and get the Fools Key in Dead Rails wasn't that complicated. But if you want to take your gameplay to the next level, don't miss our Dead Rails weapons tier list and get to BLASTIN'!

a shot of the charizard ex card in pokemon tcg pocket

Pokémon TCG Pocket has a lot of great things going for it. What it doesn't have, however, is concise explanations for some of its weirder mechanics, like the wonder pick sneak peek campaign that's running this week. Here's how it works.

How does wonder pick sneak peek work in Pokémon TCG Pocket?

As the name suggests, the sneak peek feature in Pokémon TCG Pocket allows you to sneak a peek at one of the card options when wonder picking a booster pack. However, there's only a chance of the sneak peek feature actually activating when you wonder pick something. This means that when you try to wonder pick a pack, you may get unlucky and the sneak peek won't proc at all, and you'll just end up doing a regular wonder pick where you randomly get one of the five cards.

a screenshot of the wonder pick sneak peek feature in pokemon tcg pocket
Screenshot captured by Destructoid

You'll know that the sneak peek feature has procced when a magnifying glass icon shows up, and a prompt lets you know that you can now sneak a peek at one of the cards.

When this happens, choose the card you want to peek at and if it's the card you were aiming for, you can pick it with the confidence that you'll get what you want. If the peeked card wasn't the one you wanted, well now you have a one in four chance of getting the target card instead of the one in five. It's as simple as that.

Because there's only a chance of the sneak peek feature proccing, it's entirely possible that you might go the entire duration of the campaign without actually seeing it in action. Just so you know, it's not a bug. It's just RNG doing RNG things.

When does the sneak peek campaign end?

The wonder pick sneak peek campaign will run from April 3 to April 10, at 1:59 a.m. Eastern Time. Once the daily rollover happens on the 10th, all wonder picks will go back to normal and you'll have a one in five shot of getting your target card.

And that's everything you need to know about how the wonder pick sneak peek feature works in Pokémon TCG Pocket. Be sure to search up Destructoid for more tips and information on the game, including our take on the best decks to take into ranked mode.

Chalk this one up in the "we'll believe it when we see it" camp, but there's some renewed hope for one of gaming's most anticipated and wished-for sequels in the past few years.

Actually, I'll believe it when I play it and see the credits roll, but two trusted Apex Legends leakers are saying that Titanfall 3 might still be happening, and it could be releasing as early as next year with a reveal at this year's Game Awards.

https://twitter.com/YOROTSUKI_/status/1907780125996745064

The leakers, Yorotsuki and Osvaldatore, both corroborate that they have heard the same rumor that Respawn Entertainment's wall-running, mech-piloting sequel will finally be coming out 10 years after Titanfall 2 first launched in 2016.

Since then, Respawn has shifted focus to Apex, which takes place in the same universe as Titanfall, also including some of the same characters. But as the battle royale's popularity has inevitably waned, it appears the studio is ready for the next Titan adventure.

In my opinion and many others', Titanfall 2 boasts one of the best FPS campaigns in recent memory, so a new storyline and non-BR multiplayer offering in that universe has been sought after by many for some time.

The originalTitanfall launched in 2014 as a multiplayer-only offering that had its fans and detractors alike, featuring infantry and mech combat as players piloted the walking tanks that drop from the sky. Eventually giving birth to the massively popular Apex in 2019 and doomed Apex Legends: Mobile in 2022, fans have been waiting for another foray into the series ever since.

Rumors about tumult behind the scenes at Respawn, including layoffs, canceled projects, and more, have been circulating for years. While a team at the studio has shifted focus to the Star Wars Jedi franchise, reports of a different canceled first-person Star Wars title have also crossed the airwaves.

If Titanfall 3 turns out to be real, and that's a big if, it would hopefully be a big return to form for the studio that was born from Call of Duty maker Infinity Ward all the way back in 2010.

Marvel Rivals is a superb hero shooter

Marvel Rivals' season two is set to begin next week, and data mines of the latest update have revealed its next hero. But it's not who everyone thought it would be.

After the events of season one saw the heroes rescue Blade from Dracula, everyone assumed the vampire-slaying Duelist would be the next to join the roster. But in a surprise move, it's actually the female Vanguard hero that everyone wanted.

https://twitter.com/X0X_LEAK/status/1907794729393164447

X-Men character Emma Frost, who was data-mined months ago as a Vanguard (tank) hero, looks to be the first character to join season two. This lines up with the hinted at Hellfire Gala theme, and leakers like @X0X_LEAK on Twitter/X have shown the first look at the character.

Emma Frost, sometimes known as White Queen, is one of the most powerful female heroes in Marvel lore. Her powers include high-level telepathic abilities similar to Professor X and the ability to turn herself into organic diamond, which will likely come into play in her Vanguard kit.

The image of Frost datamined shows the femme fatale in a white and blue dress with diamond-like shoulder pieces and boots that look like they have the letter X on the front. She sports a short blonde bob haircut, earrings, and blue lipstick to match her diamond appearance.

A second image posted by @X0X_LEAK shows what looks like a piece of the season two reveal artwork, which has Emma standing amongst other heroes in what looks like Krakoa, the homeland of mutants and the Hellfire Gala. Other heroes can be seen, such as Cloak & Dagger and what looks like Captain America wearing their most glitzy and glamorous gala outfits.

https://twitter.com/X0X_LEAK/status/1907795674344673401

In the comics, the Hellfire Gala is a yearly event where heroes and mutants come together to hold an election and vote on the Krakoan X-Men team. Krakoa will likely be this season's map, with multiple modes and locations with in it, as it was also data-mined previously.

Season two's welcome message, also datamined, alludes to "the fall of Krakoa at the hands of a mechanical menace" being the driving villain force behind the season, like Dracula was in season one. This could be any number of characters, but house money is on Nimrod, the evolved Sentinel, who led an attack on the Gala in one comic book story arc.

Update at 10:35am ET on April 3: The leaks were real. Season two has been confirmed for April 11, featuring Emma Frost, Ultron, and the Hellfire Gala in Krakoa.

A character standing with Wall-E while surrounded by festive spring Easter decorations in Disney Dreamlight Valley

One of the many quests you need to tackle for the Easter Eggstravaganza event in Disney Dreamlight Valley is Eggs-ceptional Decorating. The requirements for this task are very specific, so it can be a tough one to figure out.

Like all event tasks, you're only given a vague name as a hint for what needs to be done. It's likely not enough for you to figure out this task, so if you're stumped, here's how to complete the Eggs-ceptional Decorating duty in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

To complete the Eggs-ceptional Decorating duty for the Easter Eggstravaganza event, you need to craft and place four egg-themed furniture items in your valley. You can place four items inside one of your houses or outside around the valley. Both options work, so choose whichever one works better for you.

The furniture you craft can be four unique egg-themed items or duplicates of the same ones. If you don't already have all of the available options, I recommend crafting four different items so you can unlock more furniture to decorate your valley with.

All furniture you can craft in Easter Eggstravaganza in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Here are all of the egg-themed furniture items you can craft for the Eggs-ceptional Decorating duty. These are also all of the craftable future items in the entire event, except for the Spring Stall. The Spring Stall is another one of the Easter Eggstravaganza event rewards, but it doesn't count as egg-themed furniture, so avoid making it for this task since it won't help you progress.

Eggs-ceptional Decorating reward in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Your reward for finishing this special event task is a Tulip Lamp. It's a great item for decorating spring spaces and a fun way to add light in dark areas. It can be placed on surfaces like tables and counters or dropped directly on the ground.

Although you only get one for completing this task, you can buy additional ones from Scrooge McDuck after acquiring your first one, but it will cost you. Each one you buy costs 10,000 Star Coins, so it's a really costly item to purchase lots of.

For more special rewards, consider tackling other event quests like That's Not Where Eggs Come From! and Spring Taste Test next. You also might want to start stocking up on resources to prepare for the Alice in Wonderland update and review the 2025 roadmap to see what else will arrive in the valley soon.

A player standing next to the Shadow Upgrader NPC in Solo City in the Arise Crossover Roblox experience

In Arise Crossover, you are as strong as the Shadows and the Weapon you have equipped. By defeating mobs and arising them as Shadows, your party will grow stronger up to a certain point. To make your Shadows even stronger, you can upgrade them. So, we prepared the following guide on how to upgrade Shadows in Arise Crossover to help you become the strongest hunter.

How to Upgrade Shadows in Arise Crossover

To upgrade a Shadow in Arise Crossover, you first have to collect the six different ranks (E, D, C, B, A, S) of the same Shadow. Getting the E and D versions is easy, as they drop from small and large mobs on each of the islands. Now, to get the other four ranks, you have to complete Dungeons of various ranks. The Shadows that you can arise in a specific dungeon depend on its rank. You can use Runes to alter Dungeons and make the process of grinding other variations a lot easier.

A player standing next to a defeated mob in the Arise Crossover Roblox experience with the Arise and Destroy options next to it
After you defeat a mob in a Dungeon, you can arise it and get a specific version of it, depending on the rank of the Dungeon.

You should focus on getting the C, B, A, and S versions of a Shadow first, as farming the last two is an easy task. If you want to get an SS rank version of a Dungeon boss, that might require a bit more effort, as the chance of arising a boss as a shadow is low.

  • Location of the Shadows Upgrader NPC in the spawn area of Solo City in the Arise Crossover Roblox experience
  • Preview of the Shadows Upgrade menu through which you can get SS-tier Shadows in Arise Crossover Roblox experience
  • Preview of the Shadows upgrade menu in Arise Crossover Roblox experience

Once you've obtained all six Shadows of lower rank, head to the Shadows Upgrader NPC in Solo City. The NPC is right next to the spawn area, so you can't miss it. When you interact with them, a menu will pop up that lets you choose a Shadow of each rank. Select each separate version of one Shadow, and click on the Upgrade button to get one SS version of the same Shadow.

An upgraded SS-rank Shadow will have a maximum level cap of 225 and, thus, much higher damage. So, it is always worth upgrading Shadows in Arise Crossover. However, don't forget to level them up properly and let them catch up to the rest of your party.

  • Players fighting a Brute version of Golyne in the Arise Crossover Roblox experience

How to Get SS Rank Shadows Without Upgrading Them in Arise Crossover

There is another method to get an SS-rank Shadow in Arise Crossover, and that is by arising mobs in SS-rank Dungeons. You can immediately tell if a Dungeon is of that rank by the size and red color of its gate. However, SS-rank Dungeons appear very rarely. On average, once or twice per day. Also, these Dungeons can be very difficult, so group with other players before you join them.

Can You Upgrade Shadows to G Tier?

Unfortunately, you can't upgrade Shadows to the G tier in Arise Crossover because the majority of them don't have those variations. However, there are two Shadows that have them, and those are Ziru and the Monarch. You can get the G-rank version of Ziru from the King boss during the Dedu Island raid or as a reward while AFK. The Monarch's G-rank version, however, drops only from the Monarch boss in very rare double Dungeons.

That sums up everything you need to know about how to upgrade Shadows in Arise Crossover. If you want to get some freebies and possibly a free G-rank Ziru, check out our Arise Crossover codes.

A bunch of Mario Kart World characters driving together under the game logo

Mario Kart games are known for having a vast roster of characters you can play as, and Mario Kart World is stacked with the biggest roster yet. If you're interested in playing, you may want to know all the characters featured in the lineup.

Choosing your character is a key gameplay component in every Mario Kart game, and it allows you to personalize your experience. You're probably going to have a tough time choosing your favorite character in this one since there are more options than ever before. If you're interested in learning who there is to choose from, here are all confirmed characters for Mario Kart World.

Here are all of the known characters for Mario Kart World so far. We spotted all of these characters in the official trailer for Mario Kart World that aired during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct and in the key game artwork. Many of them only appear far away in the background for a few brief seconds, but they're still recognizable if you look closely.

This is already the biggest roster of characters featured in any Mario Kart game so far, but there could be even more playable characters included who haven't been revealed yet. We'll update this list if any other additional characters are unveiled in the future.

How many characters are there in Mario Kart World?

Based on the reveal trailer and key artwork, there are at least 50 playable characters for Mario Kart World. This is a massive number of characters to choose from, and it might not even be the entire list. 50 is a solid number, though, so there's also a decent chance this is the entire roster.

Characters in Mario Kart World also have costumes, and some of the ones that have been teased make them look like completely different people. This makes the character roster feel even larger, although these costumes don't count as extra playable characters.

Which characters are missing from Mario Kart World?

Characters who have appeared in past installments of Mario Kart or the larger Mario world that we noticed missing from Mario Kart World include:

  • Diddy Kong
  • Animal Crossing villagers
  • Isabelle
  • Link
  • Wendy
  • Ludwig
  • Iggy
  • Roy
  • Morton
  • Lemmy
  • Dry Bowser

The release date for Mario Kart World isn't too far off, so we'll likely learn more about it as this date draws closer. There's also a dedicated Mario Kart World Direct airing on April 17 that's sure to provide even more insight into key game details and perhaps reveal whether there are any other playable characters we haven't seen yet.

go fest 2025 image

Niantic has revealed brand new details for Pokémon Go Fest 2025, including the in-person and global events, with a host of new Shiny Pokémon spawning alongside a cascade of fan favorites at the different venues.

For starters, Shiny Carbink and Shiny Frigibax will make their debuts at Pokémon Go Fest, with Frigibax locked to raids like previous Dragon-type Shiny debuts. Hawlucha will also be spawning at all the live events as the flagship regional Pokémon, and Fan Rotom will be available in Snapshots. The previously mentioned Zacian and Zamazenta will appear in 5-star raids.

https://twitter.com/PokemonGoApp/status/1907750048667943320

In Osaka, the following Pokémon will appear as live event exclusives not found anywhere else: Chansey, Snorlax, Marill, Corsola, Chimecho, Munna, Furfrou, Swirlix, Cutiefly, Morelull, Komala, Jangmo-o, Drampa and Hatenna.
In Paris we are getting Rhyhorn, Sableye, Duskull, Chimecho, Skorupi, Drilbur, Archen, Gothia, Golett, Rufflet, Phantump, Jangmo-o, Greavard, Sandile, and in Jersey City, Meowth, Hoppip, Chimecho, Beldum, Ferroseed, Klink, Galarian Stunfisk, Golett, Heatmor, Durant, Jangmo-o, Tadbulb, and Bombirdier are the main live spawns.

There are a host of other Pokémon that will appear at all the live events, though, These will be split between specific habitats, which include:

  • Heracross, Teddiursa, Scraggy, Solosis, Vanillite, Frillish, Elgyem, Dewpider, Togedemaru, Cetoddl,e Frigibax, Slugma, Turtonator

As with usual events, Unown will also be spawning at Live Events, with Unown S, W, O, R, D, H, I, E, L, ?, and ! all spawning, including their Shiny variants if you are lucky.

The global event will have its own unique spawns as well, with certain Pokémon appearing on Saturday and Sunday. Increased Shiny odds should be available too, but for those who have been to a Pokémon Go Fest before, you should know that live event Shiny odds are much higher than the Global odds.

On Saturday of Global Go Fest, you'll be able to find Chansey, Skarmory, Larvitar, Shieldon, Shelmet, Vullaby, Oranguru, and Goomy. On Sunday, Galarian Farfetch'd, Cubone, Ralts, Karrablast, Pawniard, Deino, Passimian, Jangmo-o are the main spawns. If you use an Incense, you can also find the Unown S, H, I, E, L, D on Saturday and S, W, O, R, and D on Sunday.

The full list of Pokémon that'll feature on both days of Pokémon Go Fest Global includes Houndour, Numel, Duskull, Gothita, Golett, Fletchling, Flabébé, Skrelp, Carbink, Fueococo, Machop, Electabuzz, Teddiursa, Scraggy, Chespin, Flabébé Yellow Flower, Pancham, Dedenne, Crabrawler, Mienfoo, Alolan Sandshrew, Swinub, Spheal, Piplup, Snover, Munna, Elgyem, Blue Flower Flabébé, Bergmite, Frigibax, Clefairy, Tentacool, Mawile, Gulpin, Venipede, Popplio, Mareanie, Morelull, Togetic, and Orange Flower Flabébé.

Lastly, Torkoal, Skiddo, Pachirisu, and Klefki will only be available as Incense spawns during Global Go Fest if you are so lucky. They are all regional Pokémon spawns outside of Skiddo, so hopefully you find one and, if you are lucky, you get a Shiny Torkoal, Pachirisu, or Skiddo to your collections, as there is no Shiny Klefki in-game currently.

What keeps Fisch... well... fresh, are all the events that happen almost every week. Since most of us have extra time during the weekend, the devs made sure they spice up our offdays with limited rewards just to get those FOMO juices flowing. Almost every Saturday, there is a limited event that lasts until the next Monday (sometimes longer) where players get a chance to earn some limited awards, extra XP or Money, or even catch fish that won't be available until the event takes place again. To help you keep track of current, upcoming, and past events, we designed this All Fisch Events Schedule Guide - Every Current and Upcoming Event.

Current Fisch Events

Down below, we'll list every active Fisch event. When these are over, we'll move them to the Past Fisch Event.

Dreamer

Image via Fisch official Discord

The Dreamer event isn't as much of an event as it is an alternative title for the Second Sea. In order to get to it, you need to defeat the Dreamer boss, a.k.a. Cthulu. This is a pretty easy boss fight you only need to do once, after which, you get to freely travel between the First and the Second Sea.

Additionally, you can also grab a few limited premium boats and skins during the Dreamer event. Here are all of them:

  • Eldritch Bundle - 799 Robux - Dreamer's Redemption (Boat), Wrathlight Lantern, and x64 Server Luck
  • Curse III (boat) - 2,499 Robux - Speed 255 S/ps, Steering 90 degrees, Acceleration: 0,8 S/ps
  • Abyssal Fang - 199 Robux - Skin for Rod of The Forgotten Fang
  • Rainbow Revolution - 799 Robux - Skin for the Ethereal Prism Rod
  • Cyanic Demonride - 2,499 Robux - Skin for the Trident Rod
  • Abyssal Heart - 79 Robux - Bobber
  • Cursed Barnacle - 79 Robux - Bobber
  • Forbidden Glyph - 99 Robux- Bobber
  • Fischer's Bobber Bundle - 200 Robux - Bobber Pack (If you participated in the Hunt Event, you may already have these in your inventory)

Upcoming Fisch Events

A Pandafish from Roblox Fisch

We still don't know much about the next event, but we know it will involve Pandafish. Your guess is as good as ours.

Past Fisch Events

Down below, you'll find a list of events that aren't active anymore.

In addition to finding a Token Badge and the final Mega Token, players got a taste of what the Dreamer event will be like. There was a limited Bestiary, a small temple on Terrapin Island, and players who participated got a few bobbers for free.

More past updates:

That's all there is to it. As more Events get released, we'll add them to this guide. Have fun and if you haven't already, check out our Fisch codes for some cool freebies.

Screen art for the Immortals Promo in EA FC 25

Immortals is set to be the next EA FC 25 promo in Ultimate Team, and the first set of leaks have started to appear on social media ahead of the release.

EA Sports has so far been tight-lipped about which cards will be part of the promo. Thanks to the leaks, however, we have an idea about what to expect, and the upcoming campaign is surely going to be an exciting one.

EA FC 25 Immortals players (leaks)

As of writing, several cards have been leaked. Immortals is going to be similar to 2024's Golazo promo, which only featured Icons and Heroes. The leaks so far have been quite big, and the cards would be high on the wish lists of many.

  • Ronaldo
  • Thierry Henry
  • Beckenbauer
  • Gareth Bale
  • David Ginola
  • Javier Zanetti
  • Pavel Nedved
  • Angerer
  • Gianfranco Zola
  • Steven Gerrard
  • Gianluca Zambrotta
  • Sonya Bompastor
  • AL Jaber
  • Mostovoi

More leaks are expected to appear over the next few days as we get closer to the release date of the promo. Expect to see some big names and legends of the game, and the campaign could include some Heroes who are yet to get a special version in this year's Ultimate Team.

Icons and Heroes are also expected to have baby versions, which are lower-rated cards of the footballing legends. Some of them could get improvements in the future based on whether they're useable in ongoing evolutions.

While a bulk of the cards will be obtainable from packs, expect to see some nice SBCs and objectives. These cards will be available to all as long as players complete the tasks related to the SBCs/objectives.

EA FC 25 Immortals release date

Unlike the cards, we already have confirmation of the release date. The upcoming promo will go live on Friday, April 4. This is the same day when the Dreamchasers cards will be removed from the packs. The new cards will be available in different store packs, so you can try your luck with them. Any stored pack that offers a Rare Gold player will also offer the chance to reward you with a promo card.
