One of the biggest criticisms I and many other Dragon Age fans had about The Veilguard was that it failed to carry over most of our decisions from the previous games in BioWare's fantasy RPG series.      Marvel Rivals says no to time-gated battle passes and pay-to win elements

The time has come for Marvel Rivals to fling open its doors and let superhero fans battle it out with its impressive roster of characters. The free-to-play hero shooter has been on a rampant announcement-spree in the build up to launch, and it's just pulled one final ace from its sleeve. Monetization is often a topic that's hard to talk about without irking players one way or another, but from what I'm seeing in Marvel Rivals' new post on skins, currencies, and battle passes, it might just have the perfect monetization formula.

New medieval sim Bladesong turns Skyrim's most useful mechanic into a full game

If you want the best weapons and armor in Skyrim, you've got to put the work in. To even get anywhere close to crafting Daedric and Dragonbone equipment you need to cut your teeth on as many swords and helms as possible. Or, you can do as we all did back in the day and craft thousands of iron daggers instead. However you choose to get the best equipment, there's no denying that it's an essential part of truly becoming Dragonborn. If you found Skyrim's weapon crafting system lacking, though, Bladesong is the game for you. This medieval swordsmithing sim is packed with intricate details, and you can try it right now.

The true joy in all the best ARPGs is that moment when something in your build clicks - whether it's a new item, upgrade, or skill synergy - and you start absolutely blasting through the opposing hordes at a greatly increased rate. But across even the most popular games like Diablo 4 and Path of Exile, the start of every run is typically the slowest, as you plod your way through early waves of enemies using underwhelming gear and unleveled abilities. haunted chocolatier update

After a long silence, ConcernedApe gave an update on his progress for Haunted Chocolatier. Aside from some screencaps and plans for future development, most of the update is explaining why ConcernedApe couldn't work on the game for so long.

Version 1.6 was a large update for Stardew Valley, though it supposed to be a more technical one so that fans could make more mods for the game. As the update became more expansive though, ConcernedApe had to focus on that, as well as work on patches, porting, and bug fixing. While the PC version of 1.6 came out in March 2024, the console and mobile patch for that version only came out in November 2024. So ConcernedApe was working on Stardew Valley for a lengthy time.

In the update, ConcernedApe reported that he's finished the overall framework for Haunted Chocolatier. Now he's going to tweak them, add more to it, and then flesh it out. As Haunted Chocolatier is a solo project, this may still take a while and ConcernedApe apologizes to fans who're excited for the finished product. Like when he was working on Stardew Valley, he doesn't want to have crowdfunding or early access, since that will apply external pressure. Though he might not have a lot of updates going forth, he wants people to know that he's still working on the game and hasn't abandoned it.

Haunted Chocolatier is in development for Windows PC.

good smile company nendoroid box design changes

Good Smile Company announced that it won't be going through with the proposed changes to the Nendoroid and Nendoroid Basic box designs. However, there will be some Nendoroids that'll come out later using the new box designs, as they're already in production.

On October 25, 2024, Good Smile Company announced that it would release its Nendoroid and Nendoroid Basic figures in new boxes that don't have any pictures or plastic covering on them. The plastic cover serves as a window so people can look inside the box to see both the figure and optional parts. As well, the pictures on the box show the various poses you can have the Nendoroid strike. This change reduced the plastic consumption of each box by up to 84%.

However, many fans did not appreciate this change. Some stated that the new box design makes it impossible to look inside. This is a way to make sure that you didn't buy a bootleg figure, as well as to display the Nendoroid (as some collectors don't take their figures out of the box). Other fans appreciated this decision due to environmental issues. According to Good Smile Company's announcement, feedback from fans caused it to internally reassess the Nendoroid brand and what it means to people.

Twelve Nendoroids coming out will retain the proposed box design change, though. These Nendoroids are: Makise Kurisu 2.0, Chino: Winter Uniform, Haruka Sakura, Taiga Aisaka 2.0, Yoko 2.0, Koko Hekmatyar, RITA, Verdandi, DOUG, Albedo: Dress Version, Dark Hero Momon, Hana, and Kano Yamanouchi [Basic].

In the future, Good Smile Company will continue to package its Nendoroids in the original boxes.

Nintendo Alarmo Sales

Sales for the Nintendo Alarmo Alarm Clock have been postponed, as per an update from Nintendo. Consumers will be able to pre-order the Nintendo alarm clock sometime in mid-December 2025 for those who have an active subscription to the Nintendo Switch Online service. The clock itself is expected to ship sometime in February 2025.

Nintendo also mentioned that it will release another statement when pre-orders begin, so those who do want the Nintendo Alarmo Alarm Clock will receive some kind of notification. A more narrow window of release may also appear alongside that announcement. The clock was originally sold through a lottery system, which still required consumers to have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to participate.

Alongside this announcement, Nintendo shared that it did intend to open up sales to the general public (or people without a Nintendo Switch Online subscription) in February 2025. However, this has now been pushed back to an unspecified date. This includes retailing the item at nation-wide game stores.

Announced in October 2024, the Nintendo Alarmo Alarm Clock is, as a surprise to no one, a Nintendo themed alarm clock. Consumers can set sound bites and songs from various Nintendo IPs as their alarm tone. Which includes songs from The Legend of Zelda, Pikmin, and even Ring Fit Adventure. No news on the Nintendo Wii Shop them, though.

FFVII Rebirth Cloud and Tifa Gondola Date Detailed

In a recent interview with Famitsu, FFVII Rebirth Director Naoki Hamaguchi talked about the Cloud and Tifa date scene on the Gold Saucer. The date scene with Tifa builds on a previous optional scene from FFVII Remake. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

Note: This story depicts spoilers for the optional date scene with Tifa in FFVII Rebirth.

The scene in question happens during Chapter 12 and can be achieved after maxing the player's affinity with Tifa. It showcases showcases Cloud and Tifa spending time together in the Gold Saucer, and it concludes with Cloud affirming his romantic feelings for her childhood friend and both of them kissing while on the ferris wheel.

When asked about the decision to depict Cloud and Tifa kissing for the first time in the 27 years since the original Final Fantasy VII released, Hamaguchi said that was a clear intention when designing that scene. In FFVII Remake there was a similar branching scene where Cloud and Tifa hug each other before the team heads to the Shinra Building near the end of the game.

When connecting the events of FFVII Remake and FFVII Rebirth during development, the team wanted to show Cloud's growth and discussed if they should build upon the scene from the first entry in the trilogy. That's how the FFVII Rebirth Gondola date scene with Tifa came to be.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is readily available for the PlayStation 5. The exclusivity arrangement expired on May 29, 2024, so the game may appear on other platforms in the future like Windows PC.

Honkai Impact 3rd Battle With Sampo from Honkai: Star Rail Detailed

The Honkai Impact 3rd crossover with Honkai: Star Rail also means an enemy cameo, and it is Sampo. He's a Masked Fool, like Sparkle, and has been a part of the HoYoVerse turn-based RPG since launch as a four-star character. To help with dealing with his fight, the company shared details about it on HoYoLab, including a peek at the Ultimate that references his Ultimate.

In his home game, Sampo is known for using explosives and dual knives to attack. This carries over to his appearance as the enemy Masked Fool Sampo in Honkai Impact 3rd. One of his main skills involves three bombs, and another entails a lunging attack in which he leaps from above to hit with his knives.

Some of the attacks play on the fact that he's often seen trying to evade Belobog authorities or hide from consequences in Honkai: Star Rail. For example, he'll send up a smokescreen with fake versions of himself, and you'll need to listen to the sounds the replicas make to find the real Sampo. He'll also hide in Honkai: Star Rail style trashcans, and you'll need to attack them a set number of time to find which of the three he's in and get him out.

Finally, his one attack plays with the idea of his Surprise Present Ultimate, which involves him running up with a sealed, heart-shaped box and presenting it to his opponent. In Honkai: Star Rail, this does AOE damage and increases damage-over-time attacks' effect. In Honkai Impact 3rd, it's played off as a means to try and trick us during the fight, with accepting it leading to potential damage.

Here's the gif HoYoVerse shared of the Honkai Impact 3rd attack based on his Ultimate.

While Sampo isn't playable in Honkai Impact 3rd, Sparkle from Honkai: Star Rail is. You can get her from the gacha if you play the game. There is even a special costume to earn if you go through the event temporarily added as a part of this new crossover.

Honkai Impact 3rd is available on the PC and mobile devices. Honkai: Star Rail is on the PS5, PC, and mobile devices. The Honkai: Star Rail crossover event with Sparkle will appear in Honkai Impact 3rd started back on November 28, 2024.

The Doronko Wanko game about the messiest Pomeranian is getting DLC with more dogs and a Switch release

Bandai Namco Studio announced that Doronko Wanko, the free dog game about the dirty, mud-flinging Pomeranian, will get paid PC DLC and a Switch release. Both are set to debut in Spring 2025. The free version is currently on Steam now.

In Doronko Wanko, you play as the family puppy innocently roaming around your family's home. It's fresh, clean, new, and even prepped for a party. However, the dog can tell there's a "Good Smell Room" locked away, and you need to completely decimate the rest of the house by being extremely dirty in the game. While mud may be the first type of dirt available, eventually things like paint and other substances will be available to cause damage, build up the bill, and reveal hidden pome puppy faces around the house to unlock access to the forbidden space.

Details about the Doronko Wanko DLC are a bit sparse. What we know at the moment is that there will be three new kinds of dogs to play as if you purchase it. It is unknown if they might have unique dirt-spreading tendencies, such as some cosmetic hats already in the game that make it easier to launch mud and other liquids. Bandai Namco Studios did note the Switch version of Doronko Wanko will include those DLC dogs when it launches.

The announcement came up during the OTK Games Winter Games Expo 2024, which you can watch below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vL3FFZjToU&ab_channel=OTKGamesExpo

Doronko Wanko is on the PC via Steam now, and the Switch version and PC DLC drops in Spring 2025.

Danganronpa Creator's The Hundred Line Game Gets a Release Date

There's finally a release date for The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, the new game from Danganronpa creator Kazutaka Kodaka. XSEED is handling it outside of Japan, and it will launch on April 24, 2025. A limited edition will also be available for the Switch version of The Hundred Line.

To accompany The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy release date, there's a new trailer. It is quite bloody and shows how dark the defense game can be. As a reminder, Takumi wakes up to find that 15 teenagers are now part of the Last Defense Academy Special Defense Unit. Their goal is to use their new Hemoanima powers tied to their blood to depend against enemy attacks and survive for 100 days.

Here's the latest video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Av15u8ixHjs&ab_channel=XSEEDgames

As for the Switch limited edition, it is $99.99 compared to the typical $59.99 standard physical or digital copy. That gets you the game, an art card of each person in the Special Defense Unit, a short novel with a story based on the academy and its characters, an art book, a soundtrack CD, a pin, a lenticular art card, and a 3D acrylic standee.

This is the first image of the limited edition shared with us.

This isn't the only new game from Kazutaka Kodaka on the way, as the Danganronpa creator is also working on Tribe Nine. Pre-registrations are now open for that title. There's no release date for it yet, however. When it does debut, that will be on PCs and mobile devices.

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy will come to the Nintendo Switch and PC on April 24, 2025.
