Steam tells me I've spent 171 hours of my life to this point playing Starfield. It's not an insignificant amount of time, but it pales in comparison to how long I've spent with the myriad other works of developers Bethesda. Said devs now look like they might have fired up the tease rocket for the space RPG's second major expansion. If they have, the very little they've shown off so far hasn't gotten me right on board to play more.

Shhhhh. If we're quiet, we might be able to avoid discourse with this one. If you've spent your weekend playing Hollow Knight: Silksong and found that the likes of enemies inflicting double damage and spawns being miles away put a dampner on the fun, mods can help.

I know, I know, these are videogames and we must take their difficulty with the utmost seriousness. How else are any of us supposed to learn important life lessons, like 'press button dodge at this point', unless we go through hours of frustration trying to beat one boss (or look such info up)? As such, I stress that these mods, like all mods, are entirely optional. No need to shout at people for using them. Save your voice for singing love ballads to Hornet during breaks in the action.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 publisher Paradox have gotten the ball rolling on the "adjustments" they promised in response to the controversy over the game's day-one paid DLC vampire clans.

As we've covered previously, the Toreador and Lasombra clans were originally revealed to be locked behind a purchase of either Bloodines' £18.69/€21.99/$21.99 Shadows and Silk DLC pack, or the £74.99/€89.99/$89.99 premium edition that said DLC comes bundled with. Cue understandable unhappiness, and Paradox swiftly moving to declare they'd rejig some stuff before launch.

New Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Manga Debuts Worldwide

While the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga ended, a new one called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo began its run worldwide on September 7, 2025. Gege Akutami, the original series' creator, is involved as the author. However, the artist this time around is Yuji Iwasaki, who previously worked on Cipher Academy. It is available to read in English via both MangaPlus and Viz Media. It is also a direct sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen, with Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu as two of the stars.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is set 68 years after the events of the original anime and manga, so don't expect many familiar faces. However, two of the three leads are related to them. Tsurugi and Yuka Okkotsu are the grandson and the granddaughter of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin from Jujutsu Kaisen and the 0 prequel. The series even begins with Yuka being given Yuta's ring, which once belonged to Rika, and the family taking it from her and deciding Tsurugi deserves it.

The other lead is more of an otherworldly individuals. It is a young "Jujutsu Sorcerer" named Marulu Val Vol Yelvori, aka Maru, who is actually a Simurian alien who comes to Earth after realizing the Jujutsu Sorcerers in Japan on Earth have powers similar to their own. He ends up being assigned to observe Yuka and Tsurugi on a mission, which leads to the three connecting.

There's no word yet on exactly how long this new series might run. However, new chapters will appear on a weekly basis. The next one is expected to show up on September 14, 2025.

The first chapter of the new Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga is available now, and chapter two will appear worldwide on September 14, 2025. The original manga is handled by Viz Media, the existing anime is on Crunchyroll, and season 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen will show up in January 2026.

Next Persona 5 Royal Nendoroid Dolls Are Casual Joker and Futaba

Good Smile Company shared on social media that it is working on the next Persona 5 Royal Nendoroid Doll figures, and they will be a school uniform version of Ren "Joker" Amamiya and the casual take on Futaba "Oracle" Sakura in her winter costume. There's no release window for either one of them.

Both of the Nendoroid Dolls are very early in development. When the announcement came up, only official art of both of the characters were shared. We already did see Phantom Thief Joker and winter casual Futaba Nendoroids before though, so we do have some idea of what to expect.

Here's the Good Smile Company announcement teaser:

This marks the second Nendoroid Doll of Joker from Persona 5, and the first involved the character in his Phantom Thief costume. That showed up in 2024. However, that is the only other one available now, so the additional Joker and Oracle ones hint at a possible continuation of that line.

While there's no word on when we'll see these figures, we do have a more solid release window for another major release. Prime 1 Studio announced it is making a figure of Joker's primary Persona, Arsene. That is going to launch between December 2026 and March 2027. It's an incredibly elaborate and expensive figure though, as it will be 212,190円/$1,299.

There's no release window for the Persona 5 Royal Nendoroid Doll figures of Joker in his winter uniform and Futaba "Oracle" Sakura in her winter casual costume yet. The original game launched on the PS3 and PS4, and the Royal release appeared on the PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Hatsune Miku - Shadow the Hedgehog themed song titled Jet Black

Sega has published "Jet Black" as one of the new songs in Project ONSOKU. This new Hatsune Miku song has the famous Vocaloid paired with Shadow the Hedgehog.

Yunosuke is the composer behind this new song. He also commented that the Sonic Mania soundtrack inspired him the most in recent years. Meanwhile, the song's illustration was done by FAMY, who has done character designs for light novels and games—the latter includes the Chunithm arcade game series.

The official music video for "Jet Black" is also available to watch right below:

https://youtu.be/L12K7BGVXws

"Jet Black" is the third song published in Project ONSOKU. The new Hatsune Miku collaboration project features songs themed after Sonic the Hedgehog series characters, including Shadow. The first two songs—"Sai Love Jinsei Runner" and "We Are Pico Pico Hammers!!!!"—are respectively modeled after Sonic the Hedgehog and Amy Rose. Sega will publish two more songs—"Treasure Garden" and "Denkou Sekka"—on September 15 and 22, 2025.

All songs in Project ONSOKU, including "Jet Black," will appear in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Hatsune Miku will also join the game as a guest character. Sega will release the new game for PS5, PS4, Switch, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC worldwide on September 25, 2025, with a Switch 2 release also announced.

Review: Whisper of the House Is No Unpacking Clone

Unpacking led to the release of many independent, cozy games that felt like the wanted to clone that magic, soothing, room organizing formula that stuck with people. Some of them were very obvious rip-offs. Others tried to tell similar sorts of stories, but with different themes. While Whisper of the House, an indie game from GD Studio, does also involving moving and unlocking rooms in the same vein as Unpacking, it's also incredibly strong with its own, compelling identity and different sort of organizational experience.

Whisper of the House starts with our avatar moving to Whisper Town to become its newest housekeeper. Our goal is to offer our services to assist individuals as they maintain their homes. That could mean helping them move into new places, assisting when someone else moves in, helping a new business get organized and established, and even just cleaning up. As we do, we gain access to money or opportunities to explore the city to find things for our own customizable spaces. At the same time, this is a living, breathing community. Things we discover and investigate could end up changing others' stories or leading to the discovery of potentially dark secrets or anomalies. So while it is generally pleasant, relaxed, and cozy, there's an edge if you keep probing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzTkTi_1oOE

Whisper of the House assignments tend to start in the same way. You'll get a letter asking you to assist with a task in a person's home or business. This could involve totally unpacking a place and arranging it or tidying up. In some cases, some items or furniture may already be placed, but you can likely rearrange, adjust, and interact with it. You might notice odd "noise," in the form of black lines or animations suggesting an anomaly. Constantly poking at them can lead to the discovery of new areas and interactions, which can then lead to additional missions. While this is a cozy game, some of these can be dark and even suggest some horror elements, so keep that in mind when playing. It's generally very relaxing and fun, but it can have an edge!

Placing things is pretty simple, which is great. However, you can't really pick what and when comes out of your assistant robot that supplies furniture and pieces of people's lives. They automatically come out in a predetermined order. You might also need to actually place it, then check it out, to see the description to better understand what it is and where it may be best to place it. A circular gauge on the robot's screen lets you know how much is left to unpack in a space, but the nature of that means it might not feel 100% exact when a ton of pieces need to be set up. Items can be rotated, for proper positioning, and I appreciated that there is a separate button to help with layering to ensure things fall in what I feel are the right spots.

Another thing that helps Whisper of the House stand out is the pixel art. This is a gorgeous game. It's incredibly detailed. From the zoomed out cityscape showing Whisper Town to each scene we visit and organize, it's all so intricate. You can really pinpoint what everything is, no matter how small, and there are these little extras to enhance things like variants on some objects or different looks if they're placed on a wall or on a shelf. Add to that the animations for some, and it's just lovely.

But what really makes Whisper of the House special are the extra interactions. We can trigger responses with certain items in places. At first, I thought this was fun! Cool! There's a little animation that plays, and I get an achievement for that. Except once I got to the alchemist home, I suddenly realized that when I was returning pages to a notebook, I was actually getting access to recipes! And when I started exploring around that space more, I started to find the ingredients for the cauldron to actually create things. And it isn't in just that space. Once I started to get further in the game, I'd either take more time to play around or revisit and spend more time in spaces I already decorated and unlocked, and then realize there were other secret interactions. This is a game that constantly rewards you for taking your time and exploring.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUrkqgXksFQ

I absolutely loved Whisper of the House and the way in which I felt like I connected to characters and experiences while organizing. While it isn't telling stories in the same way as Unpacking, it is a similar sort of game that builds on that kind of concept. I do wish that some of the mystery and organizational elements perhaps had been handled a bit differently. Especially if the design decisions kept me from easily discovering or accomplishing something. But Whisper of the House is a truly lovely experience in the same vein as Unpacking, but adds its own unique flourishes.

Whisper of the House is available on the PC via Steam.

Borderlands 4 combat screenshot

Borderlands 4 will be the next major installment of the famed looter-shooter series, and we now have a better idea about its launch date.

The date, Sept. 12, has been common information for quite some months. However, the exact launch time was a matter of speculation. Developers Gearbox and publishers have now confirmed the time, and this guide will help you stay updated.

Borderlads 4 release countdown

2K will follow a different launch schedule for PC and console. Players on console will be able to start earlier in certain regions. The countdown below will be helpful for those who are playing on PC. Unlike consoles, the PC launch will happen simultaneously across all regions.

[hurrytimer id="1115135"]

The countdown is set for the following times.

  • 9am PT (Sept. 11)
  • 11am CT (Sept. 11)
  • 12pm ET (Sept. 11)
  • 5pm BST (Sept. 11)
  • 6pm CEST (Sept. 11)
  • 12am SGT (Sept. 12)
  • 1am JST (Sept. 12)
  • 2am AEST (Sept. 12)
  • 4am NZST (Sept. 12)

If you're on console, there's no set countdown. 2K is going for a regional launch for PlayStation and Xbox users. The only slight difference is for players located on the West Coast, since they can access the game at 9pm PST (instead of midnight for other regions).

https://twitter.com/Borderlands/status/1964010668408848587

Those on Xbox consoles will be able to play earlier using the New Zealand method, which involves changing your console region.

Unlike many recent releases, there won't be an early access period. A player dressed as Disgust from inside out riding in a red wagon in a fruit orchard in disney dreamlight valley

All Star Path events are filled with tricky duties designed to test your knowledge of iconic characters in Disney Dreamlight Valley. This means you'll regularly be faced with some tough trivia, like picking the Fruit that put Snow White to sleep.

There are many Fruits you can pick from around your village, and there's a decent chance you might not be familiar with the one that fits this task, especially if you're not super familiar with Snow White. If this mission has you stumped and struggling to progress in the event, here's how to pick the Fruit that put Snow White to sleep in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

What is the Fruit that put Snow White to sleep in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

A player dressed as Disgust from inside out taking a picture with an apple tree in a fruit orchard in disney dreamlight valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Fruit that put Snow White to sleep is Apples in DDV. You can find them growing on apple trees around the main Dreamlight Valley area. There are five of these trees in total, three of which start off in the Plaza biome and two that originate in the Forgotten Lands.

Like all Fruit trees and bushes, these ones can be moved anywhere you like around your village. If you moved them but aren't sure where they ended up, check your map for a Fruit icon. All Fruit trees and bushes are marked with the same one, though, so you'll have to check each one until you find the Apples you're looking for.

Each Apple tree has three Apples you can pick from it at a time, so you can harvest a total of 15 Apples before you'll need to wait for more to grow. It takes 20 minutes for more to spawn, and you don't need to water or interact with the trees in any way to help the growing process occur.

Pick the Fruit that put Snow White to sleep in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To complete the pick the Fruit that put Snow White to sleep task for the Retro Roadtrip Star Path event, you need to harvest a total of 25 Apples. You can only harvest 15 Apples at a time since there are only five trees, so you'll have to wait at least 20 minutes to collect more after initially acquiring them.

Finishing this duty gets you 20 Tokens to spend in the event. It's a pretty decent prize for the fairly minimal effort you must undertake to get it done. You'll likely still need more Tokens to claim whatever prize you're seeking, though, so consider working through some additional duties next, like crafting a potion you can really dig, cooking a fairly fancy appetizerdigging for pottery material, and crafting any refinement item.

An official Bungie artwork of one of Marathon's character archetypes.

Bungie's upcoming extraction shooter Marathon is currently undergoing exhaustive playtests, and new leaks from the latest one bring some positive developments.

A leaker named Deakstiny on Twitter/X spilled the beans (compiled by TheGamePost) on several facets of the current playtest, which Bungie is reportedly paying players up to $500 for logging on and being active in for at least an hour every day for 30 days. Yeah, it's crunch time for Bungie.

Image via Bungie

Along with several images of the playtest that Bungie has since issued DMCA takedowns for, the leaker's information inspires some hope for the extraction shooter that was supposed to release later this month but was delayed indefinitely, allowing for the current playtest to take place.

Deakstiny described new information like major UI changes and overhauls to the game's different factions, including new pre-rendered intro cinematics, but another new runner named Icon and an additional map appear to be the main new content in the test.

According to leaks, Icon is the previously-codenamed "Thief" character, and she has an Apex Legends' Pathfinder-like grapple hook, the ability to see loot through walls, and a drone that steals loot from enemy players.

Along with improvements to the Outpost map previously seen in the closed beta, a new map named Cryo Archive is now playable, and it's set on the UESC Marathon ship that players would remember from the original games. According to TheGamePost, Cryo Archive has "puzzle-like elements, sections that required keys and other objects to unlock, and areas that were clearly still in development with unfinished art."

The new content and changes to existing content already seen in the playtest is a good sign. Along with actually paying testers to put in the work to improve the game, it's clear that Bungie is hard-focused on improving Marathon ahead of its eventual launch. But I can't help but feel like it may be too late.

Sentiment around the game is at rock-bottom after the closed beta, the delay, and a plagiarism scandal surrounding in-game art. Couple this with the fact that it comes with a premium price tag, and it feels like Bungie is climbing uphill when it comes to selling gamers on the title.

I genuinely hope that Marathon is improving a ton with the playtests, because while I did find some enjoyment in the closed beta, my interest waned rather quickly. This type of game is a big bet from both Bungie and PlayStation, so it will need to pay dividends or there will likely, and unfortunately, be repercussions at the companies if the game fails to succeed.

pokemon world 2025 key art

Out of curiosity, I loaded up eBay and other reseller websites this morning to see how much some of the Pokémon World Championship 2025 Anaheim merch was going for. I had attended nearly every event in recent years, until Anaheim, and wanted to pick up at least a figure and a playmat that were only sold at the on-site Pokémon Center during the weekend event last month.

I expected to see items selling for large amounts of cash or being sold out, but in actual fact, the more I delved into everything, the more I realized what a hard time scalpers seem to be having selling their items. Or at least that's how it looks on the surface.

Suppose you log onto a website like eBay and look past the items currently listed and how much people are selling them for, and instead look at how much they sold for. You might notice some surprises. In that case, it paints a picture of scalpers either breaking even on their purchase (after fees, etc, are considered) or even making a loss. And that makes me so happy.

pokemon center anaheim playmat 2025
Screenshot via eBay

Take, for example, the official playmat for TCG lovers. Recent sales of the item are around $30, a far cry from the $100 some were selling for the day of the event, with scalpers appearing to drop their asking price down to a point where they are near enough breaking even. Most of the live listings that are still asking for astronomical amounts have a large quantity available, but only one or two sales overall.

The same can be seen with the Pikachu plush. Once selling for over $100, it is now being sold for $50 and is getting lower as sellers appear to be having a hard time offloading all their items. You have to wonder if they remain unsold, and as more time goes by, how much further these prices will drop, and how much money scalpers could lose in the process.

Now I'm not saying that all items from the event have this effect. One look at the $500 Jukebox and other exclusive stuff still shows vast profits from those who weren't able to beat a scalper's grasp. And there are some sales where people are clearly buying at inflated prices, maybe by choice or accident.

But as a person who has seen my hobby of collecting cards and merch tainted by greed, any small win like this is one I'll happily celebrate, even if it's minuscule.

So I'll hold the line and try to purchase the items I missed out on at Anaheim until they drop further. Who knows, maybe I'll even save a few dollars in the next month if scalpers are still unable to move their stock.

We can only hope.

Two sims wearing cozy socks lounging outside at night by a heating lamp and a tea kettle in the sims 4

With each new expansion pack that arrives in The Sims 4, there are usually some special items you can only get by buying early. Adventure Awaits is one such pack and comes with a few bonus items you can unlock if you get it before the deadline.

Pre-order items are always exclusive, which means you can only acquire them if you buy the pack within a certain timeframe. To decide when the best time is to add this pack to your collection, you'll want to know all of the pre-order bonuses you can claim with The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits expansion pack.

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits pre-order bonuses

A lamp, kettle, and socks in the sims 4
Screenshot by Destructoid

As has been the case with all packs so far, Adventure Awaits features three pre-order bonus items, including two furniture assets and one clothing item. Here are the three unlockables you can get by buying the pack within the designated timeframe.

  • Toasty Tower Lamp – An outdoor furniture item that provides a bit of light.
  • Toast-Tea Kettle – A kettle furniture item you can place and use to have your Sims brew tea.
  • Toasty Tootsies Socks – A clothing item you can have your Sims wear.

The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits pre-order bonus deadline

To acquire all three bonus pre-order items featured in Adventure Awaits, you must purchase this pack before Nov. 13. After this date, they'll never be obtainable again, as has been the case with all past pre-order exclusive assets.

Luckily, this gives you about a month and a half to decide whether or not you want the pack after it's released, so you have plenty of time to make your choice. The Adventure Awaits expansion pack releases on Oct. 2, so you may want to learn about all the features and items in this pack to help make your decision.

Are The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits pre-order bonus items worth it?

The Adventure Awaits pre-order bonuses are nothing all that special, so no, they're not really worth you ordering the pack early unless you want to for the actual pack content. Sometimes, the pre-order items are really good and feature assets you don't want to miss out on, but that's not the case here.

A camp director, kid who is holding a bow, child with an orange imaginary friend, and woman in exercise gear standing close together in the sims 4
Screenshot by Destructoid

With the Enchanted by Nature pack, for example, the pre-order goodies were essentially must-haves if you were into the Fairy gameplay. One of these items was a second Fairy house, and since the pack only comes with one, that second design felt so important that it should've been part of the actual pack.

In this case, though, all of the items included are quite similar to others you can find in Adventure Awaits, different packs, and the base game. The Toast-Tea Kettle is the best item here, but we have plenty of other drink makers across the base game and other packs, so it's not worth buying the pack early solely for this item. The lamp and socks are nothing special at all, as we have plenty of both.

If you do like all of the items and you're sure you want to buy the pack anyway, it's worth getting it before Nov. 13. Just don't buy it early solely for these goodies if you're not sure whether the pack is right for you, as you won't be missing out on anything special with them.

Hornet performs a double jump in Hollow Knight Silksong.

For large parts, Hollow Knight Silksong is a 2-Act affair. Once you finish the second act, the credits will start to roll, and your time in Silksong will be over - unless you unlocked the secret Act 3.

Titled Abyss, the secret third act requires you to complete the Wayfarer Wish called Silk and Soul. It's by no means an easy task, but our guide will help you with all the necessary steps.

How to unlock Silk and Soul in Hollow Knight?

To unlock Abyss, you'll have to complete the Silk and Soul Wish. However, this particular Wish starts off locked. To unlock Silk and Soul, you must complete almost every available Wish in Hollow Knight Silksong.

While I have listed all the available Wishes below, here's a small explanation of what to expect.

  • Complete almost every Wish. This should include the ones on the Wishboards of Bone Bottom, Bellhart, The Citadel, and Songclave.
  • Speak with Pavo in Bellhart. You'll be rewarded with your own Bellhomme.
  • You'll need to get at least 25 Fleas and speak with Mooshka to move the caravan three times, which takes it to the Purefied Ducts area.
  • Finally, go to Songclave and speak with the Caretaker to learn how to bring down Grand Mother Silk.

Hollow Knight Silksong Wish List

  • Pharloom's Crown (Ascend)
  • Liquid Lacquer (Delivery)
  • Queen's Egg (Delivery)
  • An Icon of Hope (Donate)
  • A Lifesaving Bridge (Donate)
  • Bellhart's Glory (Donate)
  • Bone Bottom Repairs (Donate)
  • Building Up Songclave (Donate)
  • Restoration of Bellhart (Donate)
  • Strengthening Songclave (Donate)
  • Alchemist's Assistant (Gather)
  • Berry Picking (Gather)

  • Rite of the Pollip (Gather)
  • Silver Bells (Gather)
  • Savage Beastfly (Grand Hunt)
  • The Hidden Hunter (Grand Hunt)
  • The Terrible Tyrant (Grand Hunt)
  • The Wailing Mother (Grand Hunt)
  • Broodfest (Hunt)
  • Cloaks of the Choir (Hunt(
  • Crawbug Clearing (Hunt)
  • Fine Pins (Hunt)
  • Flexible Spines (Hunt)
  • Garb of the Pilgrims (Hunt)
  • Roach Guts (Hunt)
  • Volatile Flintbeetles (Hunt)
  • Architect's Melody (Learn)
  • Bugs of Pharloom (Learn)
  • Conductor's Melody (Learn)
  • Vaultkeeper's Melody (Learn)
  • Grand Gate (Open)
  • The Threadspun Town (Save)
  • Silent Halls (Search)
  • The Great Citadel (Seek)
  • Fastest in Pharloom (Sprint)
  • Balm for the Wounded (Wayfarer)
  • Infestation Operation (Wayfarer)
  • My Missing Brother (Wayfarer)
  • My Missing Courier (Wayfarer)
  • Pinmaster's Oil (Wayfarer)
  • Rite of Rebirth (Wayfarer)
  • The Lost Fleas (Wayfarer)
  • The Lost Merchant (Wayfarer)
  • The Wandering Merchant (Wayfarer)
  • Trail's End (Wayfarer)

Some players, including myself, didn't have to complete every Wish. However, nobody seems to know how many or which wish has to be completed at the time of writing. Hence, I have just mentioned the complete list for your convenience.

How to complete Silk and Song Wish in Hollow Knight Silksong?

Completing the Silk and Song Wish is another test in its entirety. There are five tasks, all at different locations.

  • First, head to the Maiden in Bone Bottom to get the Maiden's Soul. This might require you to trigger the fight with Skull Tyrant so that she can show up. To do so, sit on the bench to start the battle.

Pilgrim location in Hollow Knight Silksong

  • If you have opened the Needolin door under Bone Bottom, you'll find Weavenest Atla. You'll get the Snare Setter from above the bench in this area.

  • If you're in Bilewater, you'll come across a deserted bellhome to the left of the bench. Pick up the Seeker's Soul from this location.

  • You'll find the Bell Hermit in the pipe directly below the Bellhart Bellway (through a destructible wall). He will provide you with the Hermit's Soul.

  • Once you have all four components, go to the Caretaker in Songclave. He will help you make the trap with the components.

How to start Act 3 in Hollow Knight Silksong?

Once you complete Silk and Soul, you'll run into the Caretaker on your way to The Cradle and get the information that the trap is set. During the fight with Grand Mother Silk, play the Needolin to trigger the trap. Then complete the fight, and play the Needolin.

After completing all these steps, you'll be returned to the main screen. When you try to load your save, you'll find that the save file's appearance has changed, and black vines cover it. Press the action button repeatedly to break the vines and play the secret Act 3.

Children running down a street at night in Weapons next to Oliver, Mabel, and Charles surrounded by yellow movie tape in Only Murders in the Building

Hey there, Destructoid, and welcome to another installment of Weekly Watchlist. This week, I finally got around to checking out Weapons in theaters, and I'm also anticipating the return of perhaps my favorite show of all time—Only Murders in the Building.

Prior to watching, I'd only heard great things about Weapons, and it certainly did not disappoint. OMITB is a perfect show to me, and I can't wait to start unraveling a new mystery with my favorite chaotic podcaster detective trio.

First up, let's talk about Weapons. I've been wanting to see it for months, as the trailer regularly came on when I went to check out other projects like Superman and Fantastic Four. I don't make it to the theater for horror films very often, but I'm so glad I managed to catch this one before it left.

I love a good mystery, and the premise of this film is entirely built around one, as all but one child from a single classroom mysteriously vanish without a trace one night. What follows is a series of stories told from the unique perspectives of individual community members grappling with this tragedy and trying to solve what happened.

The uniquely framed storytelling is one of the most compelling parts of this film. You jump around from character to character, slowly fitting the puzzle pieces together to unravel what happened to the kids. Everyone is reeling and affected by this tragedy in a different way, and it's quite intriguing to see how everything comes together in the end.

A child running with their arms out outside a window in weapons
Image via Warner Bros. Pictures

I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, and the storyline was overall quite captivating and compelling. I didn't find it all that scary, though, and most of the scares were easy to sense far in advance. It felt a bit more thriller than horror to me, but I'm more than okay with that, as I always enjoy horror movies with a great plot far more than ones that lean into cheap scares. I'd still call this movie scary, though not in the traditional sense, as it does certainly have some really creepy scenes and a haunting story that will stick with you long after it's over.

As I so often am, I was a bit late to the party with Only Murders in the Building. It's been running since 2021, but I only started watching a year or two ago. It quickly captured me, though, and I binged all the episodes that were available as fast as I could. I think I've now seen all four available seasons around three or four times, as I've rewatched with various family and friends I've recommended it to.

It's back with the first three episodes of its fifth season tomorrow, Sept. 9, and I'm probably the most excited I've been to tune into a show all year. That's saying a lot, as I've also been pretty eager to watch other series that returned this year, including Wednesday, You, and The Summer I Turned Pretty.

Charles and Oliver standing back to back and Mabel sitting in front of them in front of colorful yellow, green, and red doors in only murders in the building
Image via Hulu

If you're not familiar with this show, I really can't recommend it enough, and now's the perfect time to catch up. It's got mystery, humor, romance, action, tension, and just about anything else you could ever want in a show. The main trio is the heart and soul of this show with truly captivating chemistry, as Steve Martin's Oliver, Selena Gomez's Mabel, and Martin Short's Oliver bounce off each other perfectly.

Every season of OMITB ends with a gruesome cliffhanger, as a new murder unfolds right after the trio wraps up the last one. Because of this, we already know that this season is focused on the murder of (spoiler warning) the beloved front doorman of the Aconia, Lester. Last season's death, Sazz, was also quite brutal, making for two hard-hitting, emotional murders in a row.

I've really enjoyed venturing outside of the Arconia the last two seasons, first to Broadway with Oliver's show, then to Hollywood with the OMITB movie, but I'm also really looking forward to returning to the Arconia this season. Every season has been a hit with me, so I'm already positive this one will be, too, and I can't wait to start solving this season's mystery.

So, Destructoid, have you had the chance to check out either one of these projects, or do you plan to? Are you tuning in for OMITB's new season this week? If not, what else have you been enjoying watching lately? Let us know down in the comments so we can discuss.

anime crusaders unit tier list and guide

The best unit in Anime Crusaders depends on both what role you need whether its Hybrid/Hill/Ground DPS or support as well as the element. I'll show you the strongest units for all roles and I'll rank them within their roles from left to right. Here's my Anime Crusaders tier list and best unit guide.

Anime Crusaders Unit Tier List

anime crusaders tier list

This Anime Crusaders unit tier list analyzes the best units for both progression and Infinite according to their position and role whether it's DPS or Support. For a short version the best DPS units are the secrets with the caveat of Igrith needing Sun Woo to be good. Supports are just as important as DPS so Speedcart for farm is always good. That said support units also include those who can reduce unit costs like AI or slow/stun/freeze. I've also provided a list of alternative DPS options that includes budget-friendly units for beginners. Let's dive into each unit individually below.

Epic & Rare Units: I did not rank these because they are filler units for beginners but there are some S-Tier Epics like Speedwagon for farm and Stork/Sanje are pretty good beginner starters.

Best Hybrid DPS Units

Meta Hybrid Units Tips

Brulo (Rage)
Secret
• Brulo is one of the best units in Anime Crusaders both in the base and Evo forms
• He simply deals sustained DPS and then does a nuke every 10 attacks for massive damage and range
• He also stacks up to 15% damage for himself based on how surrounded he is (For every enemy in range)
• Pretty much all the secrets are OP so you can't go wrong with either of them
• The only issue is that you have to upgrade for him to become Hybrid so keep that in mind

Shadow (Atomic)
Secret
• Unlike Brulo who's just consistent by himself, Shadow deals incredible DPS too but requires a unit like Shunks for the stuns
• That's because his crit boost passive works only on stunned enemies
• Still a strong unit but I prefer Brulo personally

Getu (Master of Curses)
Mythic
• Getu is a summoner unit that works like a hybrid because the units he summons can hit ground and air enemies
• The summons are incredibly tanky
• Amazing starter

Enol (Drums)
Mythic
• If you're wondering how a Mythic can be compared to Secrets in the same category, it's because Enol is a Hybrid on placement
• He deals really good DPS that's easier to access than a Secret
• He can also do a massive damage burst on enemies due to his ability that removes CC effects like slow/stun for a single-target nuke
• Best combined with high frequency slowing/stunning support units like Goju, Shunks, etc.

Best Ground DPS Units

Meta Ground Units Tips

Sun Woo (System)
Secret
• All about summoning a ton of high DPS units and then buffing himself for each of them
• The Evo summons an elite shadow that copies your starts so it'll get buffed by the shadow damage passive too
• Overall tons of damage and utility

Igrith (Blood Commander)
Secret
• While all the Secret units are OP, the reason I'm not a huge fan of Igrith is because he needs Sun Woo to work
• This sucks because you can't reliably get two secrets fast
• Apart from that, once you grind the game for a bit and get both Igrith is going to do so much damage with Sun Woo next to him and buff all your shadows
• It's the most powerful combo in the game right now which you can only get via the Event banner

Lao (Heart)
Secret
• On one hand Lao doesn't have any passives for extra utility but on the other, he has the highest base damage in the game with the Evo
• Just a simple high DPS unit that you can't go wrong with

Boo (Ultimate)
Mythic
• Stacks up damage when enemies die near him and at 50 starts doing echo attacks which are basically attack follow-ups
• Incredibly strong with the top-tier damage traits

Toju (Mercenary)
Mythic
• Deals tons of Bleed damage and that stops enemy regen
• Stacks crit and overall nukes bosses since his single-target damage is insane

Ichi (Dusk)
Mythic
• Okay so Ichi requires a bit of setup but can deal insane damage with his transformation
• You have to stack up Soul Bind, detonate them to transform and then keep killing units to extend the transformation buff
• Really good at dealing with crowds but also pretty decent against bosses

Hie (Black Dragon)
BattlePass
• I love Hie because he's easy to get via the BattlePass
• He can be quite strong but you have to learn how to play him and focus on lower HP units with his Evo since he'll do incredible DPS to enemies below 50% HP

Best Hill DPS Units

Meta Hill Units Tips

Goko (Super III)
Mythic
• The best Hill unit in Anime Crusaders
• Also one of the best Infinite units
• This because of his damage ramp up passive on kills

Chonin (Flame Master)
Mythic
• A great alternative to Goko but Chonin is limited for the Solo Leveling event
• Slightly weaker DPS than Goko for Infinite
• That said Chonin does great Burn damage and deals even more damage to Frozen enemies so combine him with Freeze units like Ukia

Best Support Units

Meta Support Units Tips

Speedcart
Epic
• A must-have unit in any team for economy/farm
• He's Epic like in many other anime Roblox TD games so get him ASAP

AI (Idol)
Mythic
• Makes your units cheaper which is always useful, definitely one of the best supports

Goju (Supreme)
Mythic
• Goju is incredibly OP as a support unit because he can simply AOE timestop enemies and freeze them
• Works amazing for progression but mainly great for Infinite

Shunks (Haki)
Mythic
• Shunks actually has DPS comparable to other Meta DPS units but I chose to put him in Support because he does stun enemies and sets them up for other Metas
• That said Shunks can do crazy damage by himself because of his ability that increases his damage against low HP enemies

Koichy
Legendary
• Koichy is my favorite budget support for slowing enemies and aiding your other towers
• Really powerful slow and effect and decent DPS

Greybeard
Legendary
• Again, similar to other TD games like Anime Final Strike, Graybeard is a slowing support unit and pretty much an alternative to Koichy
• He's also full AOE so you can't pass on that utility

Ukia
Legendary
• A great alternative to the two slowing units above but instead of slowing she's a freeze unit
• You can pick her up easily of a regular banner like the Legendaries above and you should for progression and infinite

Alternative DPS & Beginner Units

Alt Options Tips

Haein (Sword Queen)
Mythic
• Haein is all about marking enemies and dealing tons of damage to them
• She's lower on the list because the mark targets random enemies so you can't mark important enemies when you want
• Still, the DPS speaks for itself and a great budget trait on her is Overdrive so her Evo 5th attack passive procs more often

Ant King (Shadow Fang)
Mythic
• Just an overall decent DPS ground unit that deals great sustained damage
• No special ability so I ended up putting him in alternative options
• Note that he's from the limited event banner - Solo Leveling

Slime (Demon Lord)
Mythic
• Slime deals great DPS but that devour damage boost effect is pretty situational if you don't kill the target
• Plus this unit is ground only and there are plenty of better ground options
• Get via the BattlePass

Golden Freeza
Legendary
• Freeza doesn't even compare to the above mythics
• But he's your go-to budget hill DPS that will carry you really well until you get the meta units above

Rose/Ureo/Yuji
Legendary
• Filler Legendaries as you're starting
• Rose and Ureo can be really good budget DPSs
• Yuji is probably the worst one but still better than Epics and Rares

Stork/Sanje
Epic/Rare
• Stork is the best DPS Epic for Hill and Sanje the best DPS Rare for ground IMO
• Great for beginners and quite decent starters because they're the cheapest in their category while still dealing good early DPS

That's it for my Anime Crusaders tier list and unit guide. Check out our Anime Crusaders codes for free rewards.

LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and other superstars in NBA 2K26

NBA 2K26's MyCareer mode allows you to virtually live your dreams of becoming an NBA superstar, and you can even switch your teams if you want.

However, the trading feature, just like last year, is extremely limited. This appears to be a deliberate attempt by Visual Concepts to ensure players can't switch teams haphazardly and abuse the system. You can influence and move to a new team if you're unhappy with where you were in the first season, despite the lack of a traditional trade system.

Can you request a trade in NBA 2K26?

Like in NBA 2K25, you can't request a trade in NBA 2K26. When I say this, I mean in the more obvious way in which NBA trades actually happen. This stays true during the mid-phase of a season and at the end.

Once you have decided to join a team, you'll have to spend the first season there and manually clear the key games. You'll then get the option to switch your team, although not using a direct trade feature.

How to change teams in NBA 2K26 MyCareer?

You must complete two key conditions before you can change teams in MyCareer.

  • Complete the season: This requirement is pretty apparent. While you must and should play the key games in a season, you can simulate the rest to save time.
  • Complete the offseason: This is where you can get the opportunity to switch your allegiances in MyCareer. If you like, you can play a few FIBA games (it's not compulsory, but they're fun). Once done, speak with Xander about completing the first season and starting the next one, and this will begin the free agency.

  • You'll get the whole list of teams that you can join. You'll find your salary in terms of VC and analyze the rosters. Always join a team where you have a better chance of starting after analyzing the squad depth for your position.

Confirm your choice to switch and start playing for a new team in MyCareer. Remember that this will reset all your Dynastry progress, and you'll have to begin with a clean slate.

Shakra in the Blasted Steps in Hollow Knight Silksong

The Blasted Steps is a pretty dangerous area in Hollow Knight Silksong, and having a map of the location can obviously be super helpful.

So if you're wondering where to find the Blasted Steps map in Silksong, this guide has you covered. Be blind no more, here's where to find that map.

How to find the Blasted Steps map in Hollow Knight Silksong?

Your first mission is to reach the Bench room in the Blasted Steps region. There are two ways to enter Blasted Steps: Bone Bottom and Shellwood. I chose the latter, and it will make it easier for you to reach the Bench room.

The path to the Bench room is relatively easy. Go straight and take the first path upwards. Keep following its natural direction, and you'll reach the Bench room. The path from here to the Blasted Steps map location will be more challenging.

  • You'll need the Wall Cling ability to reach this location, which you can obtain from the Shellwood region.
  • Go left from the Bench room, and you'll come across platforms. Go across them, and use your Wall Cling to move up the first Wall.
  • You'll need to be mindful of the winds. If they derail you, your unsuccessful jump will land you among the worms.
  • Keep going left until you reach the tunnel that leads upwards. Reach the top with Wall Cling, and then travel to the right. Keep travelling until you come across a point where there are no platforms and a chain dangling mid-air.
  • There is actually a platform quite far from this location. Wait for a wind gust to appear, which will help you reach that distant platform.

Once you make the jump, finding Shakra will be a matter of time. You can purchase the map from her for 70 Rosaries. If you're stuck in another area and waiting to find the map, why not study up on all the Shakra locations in Hollow Knight Silksong.

AZ screenshot with Eternal Flower Floette in Pokémon Legends: Z-A trailer

I think I'm the only person in the Pokémon community who feels this way when it comes to new Pokémon being introduced in Legends Z-A, but I can't help but worry that the only new creatures we will get in-game are Mega Evolutions.

To me, the joy of a new Pokémon comes in creatures that I can see 24/7 instead of only appearing for a time-limited period... using an item. The idea that I can walk around and discover brand new Pokémon I have never seen before or get a new evolution for a pre-existing Pokémon is half the fun for me. And while the idea of new Mega Evolutions is fantastic, the idea that it is the only new Pokémon we might be getting fills me with a bit more dread than I'd like.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3s0c0DyobQ&ab_channel=IGN

Of course, it was always going to be hard to make new Pokémon in Z-A make sense. It is based in an already existing region in modern day, so the idea that a new Pokémon existed in the region that we didn't see the first time we played Pokémon X and Y on the Nintendo 3DS all those years ago feels like a cop out, but its not unheard of for new species to be discovered to this day in the real-world, so why not in the Pokémon world too?

With Mega Evolutions seeming to be the new evolution method, I do wonder if the team could make a Kalos regional form work in some way. As the game is set in a technologically advanced city, I feel that some Pokémon, such as Porygon, could evolve into forms that adapt to these advances, or even Pokémon like Rotom, which would be superb additions even if they were standalone versions.

I look, for instance, at Eternal Flower Floette, which is a form of Floette only found in Kalos that is begging to hint at additional Kalos forms we could have (and it would be nice to be able to play with this Pokémon again, considering it was only obtainable via events in the past).

Kalos was also the last region to introduce a new Eeveelution with Sylveon, so it would feel right to return to the area to expand and provide us with more Eevee evolutions for other typings. Although I know this is just wishful thinking, rather than anything concrete.

Pokémon Legends Z-A only gave us a small fraction of new Pokémon to discover, whether it was regional forms like Hisuian Pokémon or new evolutions entirely. So I hope Z-A will follow suit and is hiding its biggest surprise behind the bi-weekly Mega Pokémon reveals... fingers crossed.

The post I'm really worried that Pokémon Legends Z-A is only going to add new Mega Evolutions, as I can't help but feel like regional forms and new Pokémon would be more exciting appeared first on Destructoid.

2xko roster

After years of development and gradual content release, the 2XKO closed beta will finally launch tomorrow. According to Riot Games, it'll remain open indefinitely, only closing when necessary for patch installations or server maintenance. So it looks like we have a new free-to-play tag fighter on our hands, and we can finally start talking about it.

However, with the oversaturation of new tag-based fighting games nowadays and more on the way, such as Invinicible VS and Marvel Token Fighters, do you plan to pick this one up and give it a try, or are you going to give it a miss?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQGjBg-JZdI

Heading into tomorrow's closed beta you have nine characters to choose from for your two vs. two matches, with Yasuo, Vi, Jinx, Ahri, Ekko, Blitzcrank, Darius, Braum, and Illaoi making up the starting roster with a 10th mystery fighter coming down the line during the closed beta period, before Riot Games plans to officially release the game from closed beta and update it over time.

That doesn't feel like a lot of characters for a fighting game, and for me, the worry is that some characters are stronger than others, and each matchup becomes a mirror match, especially the higher you go up the competitive ladder. Though with Riot Games' ability to patch and balance things regularly, I can see the meta switching back and forth over time, especially as we get new characters, which hopefully offer counterplay to pre-existing champions.

However, it's also hard not to notice the deafening silence this game is creating in the FGC. I hardly see anyone talking about it, and other match reveals seem to have silenced this. I'm curious to know if you are excited about the game or plan to pick it up yourself. Let me know in the comments below what your thoughts are on what you have seen so far.

I feel like there are still many aspects of the game that need improvement, such as the poor monetization and the high costs of characters or skins, before I dust off the fight stick and enter a couple of grassroots tournaments. Fingers crossed for the best, though.

Digimon has really been on a tear with their "Digimon Story" series lately, what with the release of Cyber Sleuth ten years ago and Hacker's Memory soon after that. They're fantastic if you've never played them, but if there's one complaint I'd lob their way, it's that the games tend to lean more into the […]
