Age of Empires IV has been trucking on nicely since the RTS game released at the end of October, and the development team at Relic is already hard at work releasing patches and essential bug fixes while the community decides which of the new Age of Empires 4 civilizations they prefer.
Today's smaller patch focuses on some high profile bugs and "balance issues related to Mongol town centers". Specifically, Mongol town center capital, which like most other Mongol structures can be packed up and moved around, can no longer be placed in unexplored territory, and it must now be placed at least 20 tiles from an enemy player's town center.
The Age of Empires team says patch 7989 also includes some optimisations that will "drastically reduce performance drops when panning the camera across the map". If you're playing Age of Empires IV on Steam, you'll now also be able to link to your Xbox Live account. The team has also fixed an issue with disappearing unit health bars, which players reported would sometimes disappear even if they'd set them to remain visible.

Back in 1994, game designer Julian Gollop launched the legendary turn-based strategy game X-COM: UFO Defense. In case you've somehow missed it (seriously, what have you been doing!?) it's a unique and unforgiving strategy game that depicts a secret organisation fighting to stop an alien invasion.
It was pretty iconic and inspired Firaxis Games' Creative Director Jake Solomon to become a game designer in the first place. Many years later, he spearheaded the team that launched XCOM: Enemy Unknown, a spiritual remake of Gollop's UFO Defense.
The reboot achieved unprecedented heights in the turn-based strategy genre, marrying a tale of humanity and military heroism to the original's unforgiving gameplay where any of your elite soldiers can be killed in a mission, permanently removing them from the campaign. 70% of players failed their first campaign, but it didn't matter: XCOM's second coming was a hit. 2016 saw a sequel in the form of XCOM 2, but it required a couple of hefty DLC drops to really shine.
Outriders is getting a "colossal" free content update on November 16. Called New Horizon, the update will bring a reworked expedition loot reward system, brand-new expeditions to explore, and new customisation options for your characters.
The New Horizon update marks the first major post-launch content drop for Outriders, and a key feature is the rework to expeditions - the endgame missions available after you've wrapped the main campaign. Before the New Horizon update, players had to complete these expeditions as quickly as possible to get the best loot; however, this is no longer the case. The reworked expeditions do away with any time-based rewards, instead offering more rewards based on how long it should generally take to complete that expedition. There's still an option to turn on timers for expeditions for those who want the challenge, but this is just for bragging rights - you won't get any extra goodies for doing so.
The biggest effect of this change is that it'll take as long to complete a single long expedition as multiple runs of shorter expeditions to get the same loot. It should also give players the freedom to go into an expedition without pigeonholing themselves into a specific Outriders build designed to get through expeditions as quickly as possible. This update works in tandem with previous updates that increase legendary loot drop rates and the system that reduces the chance of picking up duplicates of legendary loot you already have.

Rumours about the game have been circulating since September, and a new batch of discussion suggests that the game will be announced in December.
Putting some caveats before his report, industry insider Jeff Grubb says in his latest GrubbSnax podcast (paywalled): "You can go to Reddit, make a forum post about this if you want, but I'm going to say right now: I'm not certain. I think it is a Star Wars: High Republic game, and it's called Star Wars Eclipse. That's what I'm hearing."
Grubb says he expects an official announcement on the game "probably before the end of the year", and posits two potential venues for that reveal. One is Geoff Keighley's Game Awards on December 9. The other is an ongoing series of announcements of new Star Wars merchandise at StarWars.com. The site has teased a videogame-related announcement for December 14.
Historical Total War fans received a bit of a blow earlier this year when Creative Assembly announced it would no longer be supporting Total War: Three Kingdoms. Sure, we're getting some kind of successor, but overall fans were not happy.
With support pretty much shut down for the strategy game, a group of modders have taken it upon themselves to try to inject some TLC into Three Kingdoms by making an unofficial fan patch and releasing it as a mod. "This mod made by all the community fixed 66 bugs that CA will never fix," the description reads, with the Steam Workshop entry listing six names as authors.
Fixes vary from characters that should be dead still able to spawn in campaigns, especially in later start dates, to errors in terrain effects that were introduced in the 1.7 patch. There are also plenty of fixes to specific leaders and factions, and this mod also incorporates contents from another mod (with permission) that makes use of unused assets created by Creative Assembly for the Total War game.

Albedo is a handsome young scholar and 'alchemical genius' who uses his expertise as Chief Alchemist and Captain of the Investigation Team to create beautiful yet devastating Geo flowers that explode with area-of-effect damage.
He can be built as a DPS if you so choose, but even though he's a one-handed sword user, we believe his strengths lie in the sub-DPS role, as his Elemental Burst and Elemental Skill abilities provide huge area-of-effect damage that scales from his defense stat. In order to maximise Albedo's damage, his Elemental Skill, Solar Isotoma, should be cast in each fight, as it deals AoE Geo damage to foes in the area through its Transient Blossoms. If there's a Solar Isotoma on the field when Albedo casts his Elemental Burst, it will generate seven Fatal Blossoms, each exploding and dealing a ton of damage.
Gathering foes into a small area will maximise the burst damage from Fatal Blossom, as each enemy will be tracked by one blossom, leading to massive damage if you cluster them. For this reason, Venti or Sucrose are ideal teammates for Albedo, as they can group foes with their ults. Albedo also synergises well with Klee - and since they're essentially siblings, running them on the same team is extra adorable. Here's our Genshin Impact Klee build and Genshin Impact Venti build just in case you've got either of these characters - but rest assured, Albedo is a valuable asset to any team. Here's what you need for the best Genshin Impact Albedo build.

Other than a very gorgeous (and very brief) teaser announcing the game, no other key information about what it'll bring has emerged yet - however, it looks like the devs definitely acknowledge that it'll need to be as enduring a game to its fans as its predecessor, Skyrim.
In an interview with GQ about how the Xbox ecosystem has grown beyond just the console itself, Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard touches on how TESV's long life in the hearts and minds of fans affects how the devs approach making its follow-up - and it naturally sounds like it adds some pressure. "I think that would drive me crazy to try to say, 'Okay, this is the thing you have to top,'" he tells the site, on considering Skyrim's enduringly long life.
"But then you realise, like, The Elder Scrolls VI has got to be a 'decade game'. How do you make a game where you go into it, like, 'people have to play it for a decade?'" It's a mightily tough one to answer and indicates that, while the team is well aware of the implications of Skyrim's incredible legacy, this must be a challenging thing to wrangle with in terms of player expectations.

Unfortunately, the barrier to entry is a little steeper than it was during the FPS game's closed beta, meaning you might need a beefier gaming PC to meet Battlefield 2042's release day system requirements.
Much like before, you'll need at least 100GB of free storage to house the game. You'll benefit from putting it on an SSD rather than any old mechanical hard drive, too. In a song you'll likely have heard time and time again, you'll need 8GB of RAM to run the game at minimum, while 16GB is recommended. Nvidia DLSS even makes another appearance, so you can boost fps and hit a higher resolution.
The heart of your rig is where things get a little tricky, as EA has raised the bar from the closed beta in August. Intel users will still be able to play the game with the same equipment as before, but those on team red will now need to sport an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 to run the game. This was the previous recommended gaming CPU, but is now the bare minimum.

Intel has a lot in the pipeline for 2022, and Pat Gelsinger hasn't been shy about the company's ambitions - especially when it comes to crushing Apple and AMD with its Alder Lake CPUs. However, while the blue team boss is optimistic about Intel's future in the gaming PC space, he thinks that semiconductor shortages will persist beyond 2022.
In an interview with CNBC, Gelsinger claims that the component shortage will get "incrementally better" but says there won't be a "supply-demand balance until 2023". Like with a similar statement made by AMD's Lisa Su, the Intel CEO doesn't give a specific timeframe for when supply issues will subside. However, the fact that both company heads agree that the situation won't resolve itself this year provides the forecast with some clout.
The ongoing global pandemic is somewhat to blame for disrupting semiconductor supplies, but events like China's mandated industrial power shutdown also isn't helping. Naturally, if global shortages continue, upcoming products like Intel's Alder Lake lineup, Nvidia's RTX 3080 refresh, and AMD's Zen 4 processors could be in limited supply.

Chances are you're wondering if any of the new GTA cars in the Los Santos Tuners update are currently vying for the top spot as the quickest ride in the game. Who knows, the fastest car in the update could be an upcoming GTA Los Santos Tuners Prize Ride challenge reward. Whether just for the thrill of going at a breakneck pace, or to take on the GTA casino heist, you need the fastest car to fit the bill.
There is technically a fastest car in GTA, but there's more to think about if you're raring to go including the control and acceleration of each car. You are able to mess around with low grip tyres and stancing, but this is ill-advised outside of drag races. After all, there's no point in having the fastest car in GTA 5 if it spins out every time you approach a corner. The fastest cars tend to come with a pretty hefty price tag, but you can always keep an eye on the weekly podium car in GTA for the chance to win one in the Diamond Casino.
Of course, the fastest car in GTA can be determined by speed itself, but it also depends on what you're using it for. These are our recommendations if you're looking for the overall fastest car and fastest bike in GTA 5, including how to unlock them.

Thanks to a leaked benchmark for Gigabyte's Aorus 15 YE4 gaming laptop, it looks like the company could be one step closer to the throne, as an upcoming i7-12800H mobile looks to be 25% faster than AMD's equivalent chip.
According to the Geekbench listing, Intel's i7-12800H Alder Lake-P scored 1,654 during single-core tests, putting it 345 points ahead of AMD's Ryzen 5800H. The chip also pulled ahead of the red team's offerings in multicore performance with a score of 9,618, but the fact it wasn't able to surpass the Core i7-12700H means early boost clock issues could be hampering this processor's true abilities.
While the i7-12800H will is probably an impressive piece of kit, its incorrect Geekbench max frequency figure of 28.3GHz suggests the chip isn't running under normal conditions. That said, Intel's new hybrid design has already helped the desktop Alder Lake chips surpass AMD's Zen 3 performance, so perhaps the blue team laptop offerings will naturally follow suit.

But there's more: Starfield sees the beloved Fallout and Elder Scrolls studio leaving the ground and heading out among, well, the stars - an area of interest I suppose you could call a Starfield. What has the studio found there? That's what we're looking to work out, as the first meteorites filled with information begin to fall from the sky.
Bethesda's online-only title, Fallout 76, disappointed us as much as it did fans of the post-apocalyptic games series. However, in some ways, Starfield is a surer prospect: a single-player game, just like Skyrim and Fallout 4 before it. In other ways it's bolder and stranger - a completely new universe, whereas Fallout and The Elder Scrolls are rooted in decades of established lore, locations, and creatures. When you touch down in a contested area at the start of a match, landing near a good weapon can make the difference between you winning a fight and taking that momentum through the game or going straight back to the starting lobby. We've all entered an early scuffle with a P2020 in hand, only to be put down by an L-Star. While Respawn Entertainment believes the early melee is essential for balance, it has "stuff in mind" to tackle the growing list of weapons.
One player took to Twitter to ask Apex Legends associate live balance designer John Larson to remove weapons such as the P2020, 30-30 Repeater, and Bocek Bow to help with loot pool distribution. "You take that back. I care about the Bocek," Larson quips. "We['ve] got stuff in mind. We know we can't keep releasing weapons without considering the health of the loot pool."
Another player floated the idea of giving everyone a P2020 to land with, though it doesn't look like that'll be happening. "This was a hot topic when we were implementing starter kits," Larson says. "I was against it because of how quickly a coordinated team could wipe a solo on a contested drop. It's already a common strat in high-level ranked. The initial gun scramble buys some time for everyone to react."

At close range, this weapon is capable of taking down enemies very quickly thanks to its fast rate of fire, and it features a drum magazine which packs a whopping 50 bullets per clip.
The downside to using a drum magazine is the weight - it's heavy enough to slow down your movement and reload speed. Young Holmes returned to Cordona to find out how his mum died a decade ago, and is helped by his best mate Jon, this season's Creepy Watson. Boy, do they get in some scrapes along the way! Bingo, bango, there's yer preamble.
But the complex explanation is that this game, ironically, defies explanation. As I played, I oscillated wildly between thinking, "This is Frogwares' world and we're all just living in it!" and, "What is even happening, what is this, I need a ten-part documentary series that just follows the developers around because they really have a lot of explaining to do."
Morse, the strategy game that teaches you real morse code to win a war, has come a long way since we first wrote about it in 2015. What started out as a free flash game (and a makeshift telegraph key made out of a clothes peg) now has proper 3D graphics and quite possibly the most impressive custom controller setup I've ever seen. When I played the demo at EGX 2021 last month, not only had creator AlexVSCoding made an entire telegraph machine for the occasion, but he'd also managed to source a pair of headphones from the 1930s to really hammer home the idea of being a wartime telegraph operator.
Obviously, you don't need a pair of 90-year-old headphones to enjoy playing Morse. A modern headset will do just as well. You also don't technically need the telegraph machine either, as there's an onscreen button interface you can click with your mouse. But let me tell you, pressing those morse code buttons in-game wasn't half as immersive as tapping out the commands on a proper dedicated machine, and I wish there was some way Morse could give everyone that experience when it finally launches in full.
