The very best space RPGs can inspire a sense of wonder and scale unlike anything else. Games like No Man's Sky and Starfield, when they are at their best, offer a magnificent sense of smallness and an equal embracing of freedom. That feeling goes to back to some of the best retro RPGs like Wing Commander: Privateer. Continuing in this legacy, Star Valor is a overlooked throwback. An upcoming DLC centered around base building looks to make it even better.

Realistic RTS Broken Arrow has had a rocky launch. Despite opening to rave reviews on Steam, a host of technical and balance issues have caused its ratings to sink into the "mixed" range. Widespread cheating in multiplayer modes, a lack of penalty for players leaving in the middle of a match, and unbalanced enemy AI are among the most widespread complaints. A new update seeks to address a number of the community's concerns, but does not seem to go far enough.

Asus is obsessed with throwing gold onto its ROG Astral RTX 5000 graphics cards, with the latest example being this new RTX 5090 Real Gold Edition. Next Sega Luminasta Figure Is Mega Man

Sega announced its next Luminasta figure is about to appear in Japanese arcades, and it is Mega Man. It will debut on July 18, 2025. It isn't showing up at any US retailers just yet. However, both Big Bad Toy Store and Crunchyroll sell prize figures in that line and might just not have put up listings yet.

As is typical of a prize figure that would appear in claw machines and arcades, there are no extra parts or pieces with this version of Mega Man. He's wearing his standard blue armor, and his Mega Buster arm cannon is equipped on his left arm. The base does feature some translucent parts, so the pose makes it look like he's just landing after a jump. He stands at under six inches tall (14cm).

Here's a closer look at the character from the front and back.

It is quite common for Sega to create Luminasta figures based on characters from game series and anime series the company otherwise doesn't have ties to. Some of the more recent ones include folks from Evangelion and Frieren

The Sega Mega Man Luminasta figure will debut in Japan on July 18, 2025. After that, we could see stores worldwide start stocking the prize figure.

My Hero Academia Final Season and Character Scene Poll Detailed

Toho Animation announced My Hero Academia Final Season will air on October 4, 2025, and Crunchyroll will be the streaming home of the anime starting on the same day. It will be simulcast. There is also a new My Hero Academia Character's Ultimate Scene Ranking fan poll live worldwide, with the website promising to reveal results the day season 8 debuts.

To go along with the My Hero Academia Final Season anime debut date announcement, there's new key art for season 8. In the background, we see All for One and All Might, in a nod to what happened in season 7. At the forefront is Deku, who is fighting Shigaraki.

Here's the new key art for the series:

As for the My Hero Academia Character's Ultimate Scene Ranking fan poll, we can each vote once per day on the site until September 15, 2025. The ballot contains sections for U.A. High School Students, Pro Heroes, and Villains. If you click on a character, a number of scenes from the anime will be listed alongside videos showing them and a button to vote. These videos are only in Japanese with no English subtitles. As an example, there are 15 possible scenes in the Katsuki Bakugo section. Each segment notes both the season and episode, to make it easier to pick out the one someone wants to support.

My Hero Academia Final Season, which is season 8 of the anime, will start worldwide on October 4, 2025. Viz Media handled the manga in the US. The My Hero Academia Character's Ultimate Scene Ranking fan poll is open for voting until September 15, 2025.

The Square Enix eStore confirmed the Kingdom Hearts Keyblade silicone ice cube trays that let us make keys will be back in Japan starting on July 19, 2025. For 3,080円 (~$21), you get a pair of trays that allow you to make two Kingdom Key style ice cubes. Only the Japanese storefront showed a listing for the item, so it's unknown if or when the US one will carry it.

Each of the Kingdom Hearts Keyblade silicone ice cube trays seems to let you make a Kingdom Key that is about six inches long. The mold as a whole is 165mm long. It's soft, to make it easier to extract the ice cube when frozen. The example photos showed what it looks like empty, with an ice cube inside, when one ice cube is removed, and when an ice cube is in a glass. It seems identical to the design of the one first released back in December 2021 in Japan.

Here's the full gallery of photos Square Enix shared.

When the original run for these ice cube trays appeared, it did show up worldwide. However, it did happen in July 2022, about seven months after the Japanese debut.

This is the second return of a piece of Kingdom Hearts merchandise inspired by the games. The Re:Chain of Memories playing cards are coming back. Those will show up in Japan in November 2025 again.

The Kingdom Hearts Keyblade silicone ice cube trays return to Japan on July 19, 2025, and it's unknown when we might see them appear worldwide.

FFXIV European Automatic Housing Demolition Resumes in 7.3

Square Enix announced the pause in automatic housing demolition for FFXIV European Data Center Worlds will end when 7.3 arrives. This ends a pause that has been in effect since November 7, 2024. Things should return to normal in the beginning of August 2025.

The pause in FFXIV automatic housing demolition on European Data Center Worlds started as a result of natural disasters. Square Enix made the decision as a result of the rains and flooding in Spain. As such, anyone in the region was given leeway in case they were affected.

Square Enix also went over what the housing auto demolition timer will look like for FFXIV players on the European Data Center once things return to normal. If you did play between November 2024 and August 2025, private and free company estate timers will reset. If you didn't, then during 7.3 maintenance the timer will resume. People whose homes will be demolished will get warning emails. However, Square Enix did recommend checking the Timers section in the UI to ensure there's no danger.

Here are the worlds in which automatic housing demolition will resume in 7.3.

  • Chaos:

    • Cerberus
    • Louisoix
    • Moogle
    • Omega
    • Phantom
    • Ragnarok
    • Sagittarius
    • Spriggan

  • Light:

    • Alpha
    • Lich
    • Odin
    • Phoenix
    • Raiden
    • Shiva
    • Twintania
    • Zodiark

Square Enix often pauses automatic housing demolition in FFXIV Data Centers worldwide following natural disasters or situations that would impede players from logging in as usual. It did so for Japanese Worlds following the Noto Peninsula earthquake and in North America after the Los Angeles wildfires

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and patch 7.3 will launch in "early August 2025."

The Japanese social media account for the Pokemon series shared a new teaser image for the Pokemon Presents showcase on July 22, 2025. The image shows a Pikachu from behind. The character is looking at a turntable between two speakers. There's also a hint suggesting the character is working on something involving music.

That showcase will air at 6am PT/9am ET/3pm CET/10pm JST. Both social media and the official announcement stated the page will appear an hour ahead of time at 5am PT/8am ET/2pm CET/9pm JST. Some of the Japanese streamers who will be reacting were revealed, and they include Nijisanji Vtubers Lize Helesta and Sasaki Saku.

It featured songs and performances inspired by the series, such as Katy Perry's "Electric" and Post Malone's "Only Wanna Be With You (Pokemon 25 Version)."

There's also the Project Voltage collection of songs. That involved original tracks performed by Vocaloid Hatsune Miku and inspired by characters or types.

The next Pokemon Presents showcase takes place at 6am PT/9am ET/3pm CET/10pm JST on July 22, 2025. The next game will be Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and that will debut on the Switch and Switch 2 on October 16, 2025.

Donkey Kong Bananza Forms and Music Detailed

Nintendo shared a trio of "Ask the Developer" interview sessions with members of the Donkey Kong Bananza team, and one went over the Bananza transformations and music that plays during each of them. As a result, we got to see early concept art of Zebra Bananza and hear why the music changes every time DK transforms in the new game. Nintendo Entertainment Planning & Development Department Production Group 8 members Naoto Kubo and Kenta Motokura both talked about the decision, and how that also led to Pauline being a fixture in Donkey Kong Bananza

We already knew that Pauline singing is what triggers a Bananza form for Donkey Kong, thanks to the Nintendo Direct on June 18, 2025. That gameplay footage showed Kong Bananza, Zebra Bananza, and Ostrich Bananza, and we also got to hear the unique song that plays during that temporarily powered-up state.

Kubo first mentioned that the Bananza transformations came up as the team was working on the soundtrack. He then shared the Zebra Bananza form for Donkey Kong one of the developers shared. He then said that the concept coming up during music composition and that part of the process influenced the idea of songs playing during that form and Pauline being the trigger in Donkey Kong Bananza

Here's Kubo's first statement.

"And [the designer] declared, "Donkey Kong will transform into this!" (Laughs) The mere sight of this sketch was enough to shock me, but actually seeing it programmed into action, I thought to myself, "Well, since we've gone this far, we might as well also transform the music that plays once Donkey Kong has transformed." Changing the music that plays is actually quite a big deal. Even in Mario games, we don't go that far unless it's a major transformation, like getting a Super Star and turning invincible. But since Donkey Kong only transforms for a limited time and it has such a big impact on the gameplay, we decided to go all out with transforming the music. We envisioned a track that would give you the urge to sprint as soon as you heard it, and then the image of a zebra galloping passionately to Latin or Spanish-style music popped into my head. I mean, not that Latin music has anything to do with zebras, but still... (Laughs)"

Naoto Kubo then explained Kenta Motokura was the person who came up with the idea of Pauline being behind DK's transformations in Donkey Kong Bananza. It's also then that Motokura brought up the idea of Kubo composing a song for each of the Bananzas.

Motokura noted, "Originally, we were discussing whether to have Pauline in the game as a character that players could relate to. But at the time, we weren't able to incorporate Pauline into a gameplay feature unique to this title. However, now that the transformation mechanic had started to take shape, we thought we could create something new by tying Pauline's singing to the Bananza transformations."

Donkey Kong Bananza will come to the Switch 2 on July 17, 2025.

Destiny 2 Edge of Fate Hunter

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate introduces a unique new gameplay mechanic called Matterspark.

Matterspark is a funny word for turning yourself into an electrical ball of dark matter, and it's a crucial part of The Edge of Fate and its new destination, Kepler. Matterspark consoles are found all over the map, and interacting with them will shrink you down into the electro ball of doom, allowing you to get to hard-to-reach places and even fight certain enemies.

One of The Edge of Fate's missions, Fallow, has a boss fight that requires Matterspark to defeat it. Here's how to take down the Vex shields of the Devastator Mind in the Fallow campaign mission.

How to remove Vex shields in Devastator Mind fight in Destiny 2 Edge of Fate

Destiny 2 Matterspark Vex barrier

Mission: Fallow is a part of The Central Academy Strangelet quest in The Edge of Fate, and it culminates in a boss fight against a Vex. As the bots are known to do, it uses a shield to defend itself at different segments of its health bar, and it's using shield generators to do so.

You need to take down those shields before it takes you down, and doing so requires using the new Matterspark ability. Turn yourself into an electric ball and then make your way to this hole in the ground, marked by some weird green and yellow growths.

Destiny 2 Fallow mission Matterspark hole location

When facing the way you came in to the arena, this hole into a grate that can get you past the Vex barriers where the boss's shield generators are is on the right side of the area. Use Matterspark to go underneath the barrier as seen in the picture above, come up on the other side, and shoot the shield generator.

This will bring the boss's shield down. Eventually, once you reach the final segment of the boss's health bar, its shields will come up again and you will need to repeat the process. This time, instead of going straight, make a left and go all the way to the other side of the area to find the other shield generator.

Destroy that shield generator, and the boss is now free for you to take down for good, finish the mission, and continue on your way through The Edge of Fate's campaign story missions.

Destiny 2 Red Chests on Kepler

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate's murky new destination Kepler has a lot to discover, including the mysteries of the game's campaign and its new character, Lodi.

As part of the campaign, you will discover more about the people of Kepler, the Aionians, Lodi, and The Nine, who have been a secretive part of Destiny's lore for a decade. This requires lots of exploration, fighting bosses, and clearing out Fallen and Vex enemies.

In your Kepler adventures, though, you will likely come across red destination chests that you can't unlock for a number of different reasons. Here's what we know so far about the red chests on Kepler in Edge of Fate.

How to open red chests on Kepler in Destiny 2 Edge of Fate

Screenshot by Destructoid

So far, there are at least three kinds of chests to unlock, and here's what we know so far about how to unlock them:

  • "Requires In-depth Knowledge of an Unfamiliar Language"

    • Finish the Quest "The Central Academy Strangelet" as part of The Edge of Fate's campaign.

  • "Requires undiscovered Fallen tech"

    • Finish the Quest "The Exile's Accord Strangelet" as part of The Edge of Fate's campaign.

  • "Requires undiscovered technology"

    • Unknown yet, but likely also unlocked as part of The Edge of Fate's campaign progress.

Once you've gotten done the methods of cracking these chests open, they can be found on the Kepler map by their corresponding icon. You can open them for Kepler armor and weapons, helping you level up in your journey within The Edge of Fate and all of its new content.

The mysteries of The Edge of Fate are still being unraveled at this time, so keep playing and enjoying the story. If you come to a chest you can't open, keep progressing the campaign and come back later and you will eventually find a way to unlock them all.

Destiny 2 Edge of Fate Ikora

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate is a new direction for the looter shooter game, in more ways than one.

The 2025 expansion for Bungie's FPS brings the fight to a new location called Kepler with a new NPC named Lodi, and it seems to deal with weird space-and-time travel and The Nine. But that's not all that's different.

Upon booting up the DLC for the first time, players quickly noticed that Warlock Vanguard and Destiny 2 mainstay Ikora Rey sounds a lot different this time around, sparking speculation about whether or not the actress behind the character was recast.

Here's everything we know so far about Ikora's voice actress in Destiny 2.

Does Ikora Rey have a new voice actor in Edge of Fate?

Screenshot by Destructoid

Yes, Ikora Rey's voice actor is no longer Mara Junot in The Edge of Fate. Junot has played Ikora Rey in Destiny 2 since 2021, when she took over for the character's original actress, Gina Torres. It appears that a casting change has happened once again.

Who is Ikora's new voice actor in Destiny 2 Edge of Fate?

While unconfirmed, it sounds a lot like Ikora's new actress is Debra Wilson. Wilson is well known for her performances on MadTV but also in video games, including as Prava in Diablo IV, Amanda Waller in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and Doctor in Death Stranding 2, but most players will recognize her voice as the same actress for Savathûn in Destiny 2: The Witch Queen.

It's unclear why the casting change was made, but it may have something to do with the SAG-AFTRA strike. Mara Junot recently posted on her Twitter/X account celebrating that the strike had come to an end, but Ikora's voicelines were likely recorded months ago, so it appears that Wilson took up the mantle in the meantime.

A screenshot from Word Play, showing a set of letters with empty blocks at the top.

There's a new spelling-based, roguelike video game out on the market, and as a certified word nerd, it's got my stamp of approval.

I'm the type of person who's still playing Words with Friends in 2025, so when my coworker alerted me to the release of Word Play, what he described as the cross-section of Scrabble and Balatro, I had to give it a go. And for only $7, that "go" has been well worth it.

A screenshot from Word Play showing modifiers and a bunch of letters
What word would you spell? Screenshot by Destructoid

If you've ever thrown down on a Scrabble board, Word Play will look very familiar. But even if you've never held a word tile, the premise is fairly simple: You must create words using a set of 16 letters from your tile bag. Whenever you spell a word, those letters are cycled out and replaced with new ones. Each letter scores points depending on the rarity of that letter (Xs and Js score more than As and Rs, for example).

That's the basic gist of Word Play, but it doesn't stop there. Each run has a set number of rounds that each requires you to score a certain number of points within a certain number of attempts, or what the game calls a "Play." Complete a round, and your tile bag is reset, and you gain an additional set of Plays. As a roguelike, Word Play has deckbuilding elements—though, in this case, your "deck" is your tile bag—and you can add letters or special tiles to your bag.

You also have three main ways of improving your tiles and your ability to score points: Modifiers, Upgrades, and Gifts. Modifiers change the way points are scored and stay with you throughout your run unless you sell them. Upgrades "level up" tiles to give them new abilities that may double the points awarded for playing that letter. Lastly, Gifts are one-time rewards, such as additional Refreshes that allow you to exchange letters for different ones.

A screenshot from Word Play, showing three reward options after a round: two modifiers and a gift.
The rewards are random, but you have options for re-rolls and skipping them entirely. Screenshot by Destructoid

After completing a round, you'll get to choose one randomly generated reward based on the three types of upgrades. You can choose to sacrifice a Play to re-roll or skip the rewards entirely to gain more Refreshes. If you pick a Modifier that ends up hurting your chances of winning a run, you can always sell and replace it with something different.

Word Play normally sells for $8 on Steam—a modest price for a game with wicked replayability. But it's currently on sale for its release at just $7, and if you're someone like me who adores spelling and roguelike games, you're sure to love this one too.

Thor Loki Marvel Rivals summer skins

Marvel Rivals' Summer Special event is bringing the heat with some hot outfits for several heroes to celebrate the comic company's first swimsuit special in a few decades.

Beginning on July 17, the event includes both a free and premium rewards track, unlocking seasonally appropriate attire for three heroes, along with other cosmetics like emotes, sprays, name cards, and more.

https://twitter.com/MarvelRivals/status/1945166473913360598

Thor's Worthy Waves skin, which puts the god of thunder in a skimpy bathing suit with sunglasses and a spiky hairdo, is the free outfit as part of this event, and it also comes with Mjolnir making frog sound effects. Players can also unlock permanent access to their rewards by purchasing the premium variant, which also includes skins for Luna Snow and The Thing.

Luna Snow's Cool Summer outfit includes customizable VFX for her ultimate and a sexy MVP intro, as the K-Pop star wears a tasteful one-piece outfit and sunglasses along with a new hairstyle, surfing into the hearts of gamers the world over.

The highlight of the event for me, though, is The Thing's Sunshine Thing outfit. It should have been called The Thong, but I digress. Ben Grimm sports a Speedo and a flower lei around his neck as he gets ready to clobber the competition while letting it all hang out as the first unlockable reward in the premium track.

Marvel is channeling Sports Illustrated with its Swimsuit Special, which released last week on July 9, putting its heroes and villains in tight and skimpy swimwear, including variant covers that feature characters like Spider-Man, Cyclops, Jean Grey, She-Hulk, Colossus, Human Torch, and more.

These three Marvel Rivals outfits supplement the already-announced skimpy skins for Loki and Psylocke, which will be available as part of store bundles. I feel like they will sell pretty well, along with premium access to this event's rewards when it all goes live on July 17.

Mister Terrific standing by a safety perimeter machine in fortnite

To keep up with what's going on in the main storyline, completing story quests is essential in Fortnite. They're also a great way to earn XP fast. Some of the missions you may come across are The Fall of Supernova Academy quests.

Like most story quest series, this set of tasks comes with a few tricky parts to get done. If you're stuck anywhere, here's how to complete all The Fall of Supernova Academy quests in Fortnite.

All The Fall of Supernova Academy quests in Fortnite

Screenshot by Destructoid

To complete all The Fall of Supernova Academy quests in Fortnite, you need to fully finish six specific tasks. Some of these quests are tougher than others, but all of them must be done to check off this quest series. All of the missions you need to get done are as follows.

  • Damage opponents with a hired hero.
  • Set up scanners to form a warning perimeter.
  • Check in with Morgan Myst.
  • Retrieve mementos to lift the student's spirits.
  • Collect Spire Remnants at Spire locations.
  • Use the Spire Remnants to build a monument to the fallen academy.

Before you can unlock and start working on these tasks, you first need to fully finish the Trials of Morgan Myst quests and all Morgan Myst Investigates quests. You also need to complete key story tasks like hitting hero practice targets at different hero training outposts, gathering the clues left by the instructors, and assembling surveillance gear at Demon's Domain.

Damage opponents with a hired hero

Your first task is to damage opponents with a hired hero, which means you need to start by finding one of the NPCs you can hire around the island. There are six characters you can chat with and recruit to your cause.

  • Killswitch – Can be hired as a Scout Specialist for 800 gold bars. You can find him hanging out on the dam overlooking Foxy Floodgate.
  • Haylee Skye – Can be hired as a Heavy Specialist for 800 gold bars. She hangs out near the northern end of Pumped Power.
  • Ziggy – Can be hired as a Medic Specialist for 800 gold bars. You can find him inside the gas station north of the Shining Span bridge.
  • Synthwave – Can be hired as a Supply Specialist for 800 gold bars. She hangs around the area west of the Resistance Base.
  • Lightrider – Can be hired as a Supply Specialist for 800 gold bars. You can find her near the south end of Shining Span.
  • Robin – Can be hired for 500 gold bars. You can find him at the gas station northeast of Demon's Domain, close to the vibrant flower fields around this area.

Once you have one of them at your side, find an enemy to fight. This task calls for opponents rather than enemy players, so you can fight either hostile NPCs or players, whichever you prefer. You need to deal a total of 250 damage together to get this quest done.

Set up scanners to form a warning perimeter

Scanner locations on map in fortnite
Screenshot by Destructoid

Next, you need to set up five scanners around the island to form a warning perimeter. All five spots you need to visit are positioned around the outer edges of the island in a circular formation. The scanners need to be placed:

  • North of Shiny Shafts.
  • North of Canyon Crossing.
  • Northeast of Demon's Domain.
  • North of Shining Span.
  • Northwest of Supernova Academy.

To finish this task, you must place a scanner at all five spots, so it takes a lot of traveling to get this one done. Even if you start on this task as soon as you land on the island, it may still take you a few rounds to visit all five spots. Luckily, your progress is saved, so there's no rush required as you can continue working on it across as many rounds as needed.

Check in with Morgan Myst

Your third quest is to meet up with Morgan Myst to report back on your progress. You can find her hanging out at Supernova Academy near the very north end of the island. She's downstairs in the gym building, and all you need to do for this task is talk to her.

Retrieve mementos to lift the student's spirits

Your next mission is yet another scavenger hunt that sends you all around the island as you need to retrieve five mementos to lift the student's spirits. The locations you need to visit to find each one are:

Five mementos locations marked on a map in fortnite

  • Near the north end of Supernova Academy.
  • South of Brutal Boxcars.
  • Near the north end of Crime City.
  • Near the northeast end of Utopia City.
  • South of Shining Span.

At each location, you'll find a small item marked by a white diamond icon and sparkles. Interact with each item to pick it up and progress to the next stage of this quest series.

Collect Spire Remnants at Spire locations

Next, head to three different Spire locations around the island to collect Spire Remnants. The spots you need to visit are the same ones you traveled to for Spire Fragments during the Trials of Morgan Myst quests.

At each spot, you're looking for a small floating chunk of rock you can interact with. It'll always be glowing, sparkling, and marked with a white diamond icon to make finding it easier. You can visit any Overlord Spire or Scout Spire location to find one.

Use the Spire Remnants to build a monument to the fallen academy

Your final task in this quest series is to use the Spire Remnants you recovered to build a monument to the fallen academy. This task can only be completed at Supernova Academy, so head straight there to start working on it.

Once you're at the right spot, look for the white diamond icon near the northwest corner of this POI. Walk up to it and interact with the icon to place the monument and officially finish all The Fall of Supernova Academy quests.

A Sim wearing a pink top and blue jeans standing in front of a cave in the sims 4

The final set of quests for the Nature's Calling event in The Sims 4 has arrived, and there's a lot to get done if you want to earn the last set of prizes. To claim all available rewards, you need to finish all the week four missions.

Event quests often ask you to engage with game elements you may not be super familiar with or know where to find, so it can be tough to get them done. If any of these tasks have you stumped, here's how to complete all week four Nature's Calling event quests and all rewards you earn along the way in The Sims 4.

To finish all week four Nature's Calling event tasks, you need to fully complete both the Echoes from the Cave and Plants Can Whisper? quest series. There are quite a few tasks to get done in each series, all of which involve exploring the great outdoors.

Before you can access these quests, you first need to finish all previous special event missions that came before them. This includes all week one quests, all week two quests, and all week three quests.

There are seven quests you need to get done throughout the Echoes from the Cave quest series. This is a lot more than any past set of missions in the event, so it might take you a bit to get through these ones.

Quest How to complete
Craft the Wooden Throne. Reach level eight Handiness skills, click on a woodworking table, and craft the Wooden Throne. The crafting recipe for making it is a week four reward, so be sure to claim it before tackling this task.
Use the Wooden Throne. Place the Wooden Throne you crafted down on your home lot, then click on it to have your Sim use it.
Have a Sim spend time outdoors. Have your Sim be outside for three hours. You can check their Moodlet to see how much longer is left. This task is easiest to get done in the background while working on other quests since you'll be outside for most of them anyway.
Return to Desert Bloom Park. Return to Desert Bloom Park, the lot you previously visited during week three when you went to investigate the cave. You can find this lot right in the middle of the Oasis Springs world.
Break the cave open and explore the secrets. Click on the cave near the back of the Desert Bloom Park lot and select the "Break open" option. Your Sim needs to have level 10 of the Handiness skill to perform this action. Select the "Explore" option once you get it open, followed by "Take the wide path," "Climb the ladder," and "Step onto the ledge."
Take photos in the cave. Click on your Sims' phone, locate the light teal camera icon, and snap one photo inside the cave.
Share findings about Forgotten Grotto. Find a Sim and select the "Share findings about the Forgotten Grotto" dialogue option, then find a second Sim and repeat.

The second quest series, which is Plants Can Whisper?, only has three tasks for you to get done. One of them is quite difficult, though, and requires you to fully maximize a skill so you can find some very rare seeds.

Quest How to complete
Purchase a Magic PlantSim Stump on your home lot. Head to your home lot, open Build/Buy Mode, and search for the Magic PlantSim Stump item. Purchase and place it somewhere around your home lot.
Ask two Sims about PlantSims. Find a Sim, interact with them, and select the "Ask about PlantSim" option. Then, find a new Sim, and repeat the same process.
Place a Magic Bean in the stump. Acquire a Magic Bean and place it in the Magic PlantSim Stump. To get Magic Beans, you need to reach level 10 of the Gardening skill and purchase Rare Seed Packets. These seeds can be ordered on a computer or through any gardening pot or bed. You're not guaranteed to find these seeds upon opening a packet, so you may need to open several of them before you find what you're looking for.
You can also cheat to get the Magic Beans by entering "testing cheats on," "bb.showhiddenobjects," and "bb.showliveeditobjects." Once all three cheats have been entered, you can search for "Magic Bean" in Build/Buy mode to find one.

There are four main rewards featured in week four of the Nature's Calling event. These prizes are all exclusive to the event and cannot be earned outside of it. You also get a couple of additional prizes, but they're ones you can get at any point from the regular base game.

  • The Wooden Throne outhouse
  • Cove Stones decorative rocks
  • Trail Sandals
  • Touch Grass Weekly, Issue #4 (Collectible)
  • 1,500 Satisfaction Points
  • Sleep Replacement (Potion)
  • Want Refresher (Potion)
  • 10,000 Simoleons
  • Re-traiting Potion

Destiny 2 Lodi

Lee Harvey Oswald, you may be off the hook—in the Destiny universe, at least.

Yeah, it sure sounds like Destiny 2's new DLC, The Edge of Fate, launching today in a few hours, is going to get real weird with time travel shenanigans in the wake of The Final Shape putting a bow on the whole Light and Darkness Saga with The Witness and such.

I've spent over a decade as a Destiny nerd, but for the past year or so, I've been pretty checked out. I feel like defeating The Witness was a proper endpoint for the series, but Bungie is pressing on with The Edge of Fate and more DLCs to come. I wasn't all that hyped until just this morning.

It was brought to my attention by a co-worker that the DLC's new character, a mysterious man named Lodi, who's seemingly a time traveler of sorts, might have done something very bad. Basically, the expansion's new character may have come from the past and somehow been manipulated by The Nine (powerful and mysterious entities made of dark matter that look to be the focal point of this new saga) to assassinate US President John F. Kennedy. What.

Highlighted a few days ago by Forbes' Paul Tassi and YouTuber Aztecross, the new lore drop can be found in the Collector's Edition of The Edge of Fate, which comes with a bunch of physical goodies and unique tidbits about the story, as Bungie is wont to do with expansions.

To put it as succinctly as possible, the physical items contain documentation from an entity known as The Department of External Observation that indicates JFK was killed by the exotic pulse rifle Graviton Lance (possibly by Lodi before or after he was pulled through time and space by The Nine).

The reports state that the president's bullet wound pattern "is indicative of tissue being pulled towards the projectile as it passed through the skull, before it was pushed outward again," which would be a signature of the gun that fires mini black holes through space and time. Whoa.

It wouldn't be the first time JFK's murky assassination was explained in a game, either. Call of Duty: Black Ops famously put the player character behind the gun after being brainwashed, but this seems a whole lot odder and more sci-fi.

Trailer footage for the DLC shows Lodi in what looks like a 1960s time period before he ended up at The Edge of Fate's new destination, Kepler, so it seems as though this new era will lean heavily into The Nine and how they are able to manipulate such events, and why.

And now I'm suddenly excited for this expansion, because, what the hell? This type of utter ridiculousness is not what I would expect from Destiny 2. So if we're going to embrace the weird of traveling through space and time, time paradoxes, and complicated silliness of the ilk, then I'm all for this next chapter.

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate kicks off year eight of Destiny 2 this afternoon at 12pm CT.

Division 2

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 has plenty of content to enjoy in mid-2025, and we also have a Payday collab ongoing (as of writing on July 15). Unfortunately, there are still reported crashes on PC, and they seem to have increased since the recent update.

Thankfully, there are some easy fixes available for the players to try out. They might not miraculously fix the crashes, but you'll encounter them a lot less. Additionally, you'll also reduce incidences of lost progression (if the crashes happened during a long mission, you'll lose all your rewards and restart from the beginning).

The Division 2 crash fixes and solutions

One of the biggest reasons the game crashes on PC is directly linked to Ubisoft's launcher. You'll have to run the launcher even if you purchased the game on Steam. An easy fix for the problem is to reinstall the launcher from scratch. You'll have to uninstall and then re-download the launcher to complete the process from Ubisoft's official website. This is my trusted method whenever I experience too many crashes.

https://twitter.com/TheDivisionGame/status/1944789052739178772

Here are a few extra steps that you can take to reduce crashes and improve the general gameplay experience.

  • Updated graphic drivers: It's always beneficial to update your drivers to the latest available version. This is true for both AMD and NVIDIA GPUs, and not doing so can cause crashes in many video games. If you haven't updated in a while, check for a possible new version. If an update is available, it will automatically download and install on your setup.
  • Cap the FPS: The Division 2 might be a relatively old game in 2025, but it's still resource-intensive. It's better to cap the FPS to 60 to enjoy the game without putting too much load on your processors. This will automatically translate into smoother gameplay and a reduced chance of crashes.
  • Disable V-Sync: Running V-Sync shouldn't be a problem, but I have observed that the instances of crashes radically go up when Virtual Sync is turned on for my client. I am unsure what the exact reason is, but turning it off improves the performance significantly.

That's basically all you do to minimize or eradicate crashes in The Division 2.

Candy Crush Saga gameplay

Today, in the gaming industry's latest recurring episode of "wow, this sucks," laid-off employees from Candy Crush developer King are reportedly being replaced by the AI they trained.

The report from mobilegamer's Neil Long cites multiple anonymous sources making the claim and supplies an internal memo that was sent within King detailing the job cuts. The memo states "the industry is changing fast and [King's] business has not been growing," so a mass restructuring is taking place.

Image via mobilegamer.biz

As part of this restructuring, which fell within Microsoft's mass layoffs of around 9,000 workers a few weeks ago, "unlocking many more AI tools" is an example of how King is working to "get the business back to growth."

"Most of level design has been wiped, which is crazy since they've spent months building tools to craft levels quicker," one source told mobilegamer. "Now those AI tools are basically replacing the teams. Similarly the copywriting team is completely removing people since we now have AI tools that those individuals have been creating."

Of the 9,000 layoffs, one source told mobilegamer that King was subject to around 200 of them, and morale is now "in the gutter" at the studio behind the massively successful and popular mobile puzzle game.

"The fact AI tools are replacing people is absolutely disgusting but it's all about efficiency and profits even though the company is doing great overall," they continued. "If we're introducing more feedback loops then it's crazy to remove the developers themselves, we need more hands and less leadership."

The report cites sources who claim a new organizational chart will be presented in September, but "some senior staff" have been put on paid leave "for the summer ahead of their expected departure" in the fall, so it looks as though more jobs will be axed.

Employees are also reportedly being "targeted by HR" when expressing dissatisfaction internally about the changes.
