Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, December 16, 2025 12:29 PM Friends, it is time to break into Jeff Bezos's bunker and steal his porn. Jeff Bezos - so sorry! I mean J### B#### - doesn't need his porn anymore because he's dead. Unfortunately, the bunker is now full of "RICH MAN DEATH RADIATION", making it unsafe for humans. Fortunately, the people's pervert committee have supplied us with some remote-operated drones that are capable of firing clones of themselves in the direction of the camera. To secure the B#### smut, you must accordingly point and click-hurl yourself around the bunker's surprisingly soft and hazy confines. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, December 16, 2025 11:11 AM Larian's new Divinity RPG should spend a lot less time in development than their previous Baldur's Gate 3 - or at least, that's the dream. CEO Swen Vincke wants the process to take "three to four years" in total, which seemingly includes an early access period. For context, we first heard that Larian were officially working on a new game (two, actually) back in April 2024. Here, let me run those numbers through Rock Paper Shotgun's in-house Mirror of Fate. Gosh. Assuming I have performed the rituals correctly, that means Divinity will launch out of early access in 2027 or 2028. In less positive news, Larian are reportedly making limited internal use of generative AI for tasks such as concept art development and internal presentations. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, December 16, 2025 11:07 AM I can't believe it either, your majesty. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, December 16, 2025 9:00 AM Larian's new Divinity game is a turn-based CRPG that both builds on their achievements from Baldur's Gate 3, and follows on from the events of Divinity: Original Sin 2. So sayeth Swen Vincke, studio CEO, in an interview with RPS following the project's bloody and bawdy announcement trailer at the Game Awards last week. Concrete specifics remain few as of writing, but I can tell you that this is perhaps more reboot than sequel. It's an attempt to firm up and clarify Divinity's narrative universe, both for returning Braccus Rex devotees and for Baldur's Gate 3 players who've yet to try Larian's non-D&D games. It's also going to allow for more "freedom" than any Larian game before, thanks partly to running on a new version of Larian's in-house engine tech. Ah, the eternal videogame promise of more freedom. I'm mostly just here for the piggies. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, December 16, 2025 8:23 AM Dambuster Studios are planning to keep their next truckload of undead penned in for a few more years, before opening the big zombie door in early 2028. Team Cherry announced two updates regarding the Hollow Knight series, with the first being a Switch 2 version of the original game and the second being a free Sea of Sorrow expansion for Hollow Knight: Silksong. Both will appear in 2026. Also, while the Switch 2 version is unique, it will be released alongside updates for every version.
The Hollow Knight updates started to appear on PC via Steam ahead of the Switch 2 release and console updates. The adjustments are in the public beta patch v1.5.12301. 16:10 and 21:9 resolutions will show up in options, it will pause when you head into the inventory to manage things, dithering options and effects will be there, and there will be Unity Input System options for more controllers. On the Switch 2, there will be fps and resolution upgrades and original Switch owners get it for free. (This also happened with the Hollow Knight: Silksong Upgrade Pack.)
Here are the full Public Beta v1.5.12301 patch notes:
With Hollow Knight: Silksong, the free expansion announcement comes alongside the reveal it hit seven million copies sold. There are few details at the moment. It is called Sea of Sorrow, and there is a teaser trailer. It will be "nautical." When she heads out on that journey, she'll go to new oceanic-related places and face new foes tied to that theme.
Hollow Knight is on the Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with a Switch 2 version and update patch for all platforms coming in 2026.

Square Enix announced it is possible to try Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade ahead of its Switch 2 and Xbox Series X debut, as the demo of the first part of the FFVII reimagining is live on storefronts now. Playing it gets you the ability to claim two additional items in the full release. (A demo happened for the past releases too.) There's also a new trailer highlighting it on both platforms and Tetsuya Nomura art honoring it and Dragon Quest VII Reimagined.
In the case of both the Switch 2 and Xbox Series X, there are now product listings for the FFVII Remake demo on the eShop and Microsoft Store. Square Enix also shared a code that someone can enter on the Switch 2 eShop on a console to start the download. That is "D3GM3304HKQBB2VB." The company established that it covers the first chapter, which is the bombing mission on the Mako Reactor at the outset of the game. If you go through it, you get Revival Earrings and a Survival Set of items when you play the full release.
Here's the new trailer for the game:
As for the Tetsuya Nomura art, it features the hero from Dragon Quest VII and Cloud Strife riding on a Chocobo together. You can see that below:
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will appear on the Switch 2 and Xbox Series X on January 22, 2026, and a demo is available for both platforms. The game is already available on the PS4, PS5, and PC worldwide.

In an interview about the making of Tales of the Abyss, the original development staff from Bandai Namco (then simply Namco) discussed how writer Takumi Miyajima penned the overall story of the game in only a month and a half. The full interview is available in Japanese on Denfaminico.
Miyajima joined the project closer to the end of development, which is not the norm. The team had about four different story ideas, but none of them were going well. It had been difficult to come up with a hook, as well as a story that would be even more shocking than Symphonia's. That was why they asked Miyajima to join the team and create a story from the partially-made game they had.
Miyajima started working on Tales of the Abyss in March 2004, and he finished writing the setting details and story on April 13, 2004. He says that this was soon after Symphonia, so he was still tired, and Abyss's schedule was even tighter than Symphonia's. So he was thinking, "I wish everyone would just blow up" while working on it. Despite the rush, he worked on the finer details and timeline of Auldrant until July, as Namco hadn't chosen a producer yet.
Abyss's story can still spawn a lot of debate and discussion, and this was true even during the development stage. Many staff commented to Miyajima that it would be more natural for Asch to be the protagonist and POV character, but Miyajima didn't think it odd for Luke to have the spotlight. The prologue to explain everything that happened to Asch would demand too much time and investment from the player.
However, with an "amnesiac" Luke as the protagonist, they could cut out all that information. This also makes him easier for the player to relate to, as he is as clueless about the world as they are. Though Abyss is a story about replicas, making the player empathetic towards the player was more important. It also focused on the theme of self-discovery. This matched the target age group of Tales of the Abyss, since most Tales players during the early 2000s were middle-to-high schoolers.
Tales of the Abyss is available on the PS2 and Nintendo 3DS. Bandai Namco will likely release a remaster of it, but it has not revealed any concrete information on that yet.

Okakichi has announced that it will shut down its entire Changokushi series of mobile NFT games in early 2026. The blockchain game project spearheaded by Yoshiki Okamoto will have its curtains closed after running for just over a year. [Thanks, 4Gamer.]
For the record, Changokushi was originally teased as Project K, which was an attempt by Yoshiki Okamoto in the blockchain scene before his planned retirement in 2027. The roguelite auto-battle RPG Changokushi! Kekkon-shiyou was the first game in the series that launched in 2024.
As of this announcement, there have been a total of five Changokushi mobile games released in Japan. The other four games are a real-time action strategy, a Vampire Survivors-like roguelike action, a shooter RPG, and an idle RPG.
Okakichi also separately announced that the KUSOGeeeeee marketplace platform hosting the NFT characters for Changokushi games will close down in March 2026. The company will hold a buyback session beforehand, so that existing users who still own the NFT characters can get reimbursed with the following tier pricing:
All five Changokushi mobile NFT games on iOS and Android will shut down on January 15, 2026. After holding an NFT character buyback session on January 22 - February 25, 2026, Okakichi will also shut down the KUSOGeeeeee platform on March 16, 2026.

We aren't getting to leave Lumiose City with the Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC, but the add-on is giving us a new way to look at it. The $29.99 paid addition is primarily focused on sending us into Hyperspace Lumiose via Hoopa-created portals so we can face new Pokemon (who are wildly strong) and face new Mega Evolved Pokemon (who are incredibly intimidating) alongside some new smaller quests in the city proper. While it is a good way to get some new characters for our parties and the new Mega Evolutions are interesting, it also feels designed to offer a greater endgame challenge for individuals.
There are honestly a few different parts to the Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC that all tie together, and these consist of an extra campaign, the Hyperspace Lumiose pocket "dungeons," and an array of additional side quests that involve new fights, new Pokemon, more items, and even cosmetics based on some of the major characters we encountered in the original story. It's really substantial and designed to incentivize returning after saving the city and appreciating what it's like when it is (relatively) peaceful.
In the case of the campaign, that is the primary source of additional endgame challenges in the Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC and involves the greatest difficulty spikes. Things begin with a young girl named Ansha and her Hoopa approaching team MZ. She wants to find a certain legendary Pokemon for her mom that she encountered in a Hyperspace pocket dimension. However, the only way she can keep searching is by creating donuts to give Hoopa the energy to create these portals. This is a benefit to us as well, as these Hyperspace Lumiose spaces sometimes contain Rogue Mega Evolved Pokemon and Ansha and Hoopa's arrival was accompanied by a portal over the top of where the city's tower once stood. With the help of Corbeau and Vinnie, we take part in the investigation of the portals, aid more Mega Evolved Pokemon, and make the donuts.
The donuts are the main mechanic for entering these portals, and the berries and quality of them affect the types of perks (like increased shiny or alpha appearance odds), the level boost for our own Pokemon, and the amount of time we can send in the dimension before being kicked out. As we go through the original campaign for the add-on, we'll get better quality butter for Ansha and find higher quality Hyper berries. This allows us to use more berries in recipes, get greater level boosts, and more additional perks. So everything is constantly feeding into each other and scaling to increase our odds of success. Fighting and catching Rogue Mega Evolved Pokemon give us the new Mega Stones and a character that can use them. As a QOL feature, we can see right away how long we can stay in (the calories), and the portal will show icons or silhouettes for the three types of Pokemon inside when it doesn't involve the rogue "boss" fight.
Now, it's that part of things that prove potentially exhilarating. As we go through this Mega Dimension DLC campaign, there can be 2v2 battles pitting our character and an ally against two other notable ones from the original Pokemon Legends: Z-A adventure. Those are fantastic and lead to some fun interactions between folks who normally didn't work together or associate with one another. Matches against Pokemon in the dimensions can be fun due to the diversity and number attacking us at once. When you have a horde of at least three coming at you, you need to change tactics! The Rogue Mega Evolved fights are also interesting, but I honestly hated the stress of them this time around. In addition to protecting our avatar, staying safe, and ensuring we had the proper Pokemon prepared to fight, there's that time limit before Hoopa's portal closes to consider. It can be a lot, and I found my level 70-ish Pokemon from the campaign were getting to 80 and higher without much trouble.
While that is good for folks who crave that difficulty, it isn't the only thing going on here. As I mentioned before, there are a lot of new missions in Lumiose City proper because of this. Gimmighoul and 413 of its coins are given to us as part of one, and we get the other coins by finding sparkling items on the ground in Hyperspace Lumiose sometimes. By taking part in one fight, I got a Jacinthe's Dress replica and a ton of money. I kept an eye on a Mime Jr. There are more TMs to get. Some of these are just fun activities, while others are some interesting fights that can test our skills a bit.
The Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC feels designed to give people an array of reasons to test themselves and keep coming back to the game once they beat it. More Pokemon? Yup. Stronger Rogue Mega Evolved Pokemon fights and trainer battles against returning characters? That's there. Opportunities to explore the city and enjoy fun interactions. Yeah. More trainer customization? Sure, if you earn it. There's a lot to it, if someone is willing to put in the time to build characters up and make better donuts.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A and its Mega Dimension DLC are available for the Switch and Switch 2.

The Chrono Cross crossover event first appeared in Another Eden back in December 2021, and now there are three new updates regarding it. One is that Glenn will soon become a playable part of the event. The other is confirmed upgrades for the four previous characters wgo appeared from the JRPG. Those updates will both arrive in February 2026. Finally, it now won't expire in December 2026, as Wright Flyer Studios confirmed it will be available to access until December 8, 2031.
There aren't exact details about how Glenn will work as a playable character once he shows up in Another Eden. He already did appear in the event as part of the story element of it. When that first launched in 2021, only Serge, Kid, and Harle were playable. Starky, who also was initially only in the story like Glenn, became playable in April 2022. All four of those characters will be able to be Stellar Awakened at that point.
Here are the official pieces of art to go along with the reveals:

This article is written in partnership with GIGABYTE AORUS. Experience the next level of visual performance—get the new MO27Q28G on Newegg right now!
True Visual Brilliance: The WOLED Difference
The MO27Q28G features a 27-inch WOLED panel that represents a fundamental leap in display technology.
Traditional IPS monitors use a single backlight that illuminates the entire screen, often causing dark areas to appear gray and reducing overall contrast. In contrast, WOLED technology gives each individual pixel its own light source. Pixels can switch completely off to produce true, absolute black, or illuminate with precision for vibrant color. This results in an infinite contrast ratio, where shadows are genuinely deep and bright elements are strikingly vivid.
With 99.5% DCI-P3 color coverage and factory calibration (ΔE < 2), this monitor delivers cinematic color accuracy directly out of the box. The result is a display capable of both elite gaming performance and professional-grade creative work, all made possible by the purity and control of WOLED.
Speed Beyond Measure: 0.03ms Response at 280Hz
If you thought OLED was only about picture quality, think again. The MO27Q28G pairs its stunning visuals with a jaw-dropping 280Hz refresh rate and a near-instant 0.03ms Gray-to-Gray response time. Motion is flawlessly smooth, free from smearing or ghosting, giving you the decisive edge in fast-paced competitive titles. From cinematic adventures to high-stakes esports, every frame is rendered with OLED clarity and speed.
Designed for the Modern Gamer: Rich Connectivity & Comfort Features
The MO27Q28G is built to streamline your setup and protect your eyes during long sessions:
Ready to experience true OLED performance? The GIGABYTE MO27Q28G is now available at Newegg for only $599.99. For full technical specifications and more information, visit the official product page here.

The Cold Snap update has several new quests in ARC Raiders, and the Deciphering the Data mission will require you to visit two different locations.
Thankfully, this quest is relatively simple, and you can complete all the tasks in the Spaceport map. This guide lists all the steps for you to complete the quest and its tasks.
ARC Raiders Deciphering the Data quest walkthrough
The Deciphering the Data quest can be broken down into the following parts.
The first task requires us to head to the Fuel Control building on Spaceport. Located in the northern part of the map, I have marked its location so that you can find it easily. Approach the building from the west.
Head inside, travel straight, and you'll come across a green machine. Interact with the machine when prompted, and you'll complete the first task. The machine isn't hard to find, and completing this part of the quest is relatively easy.
Then, head to the Arrival building on the eastern part of the map. Approach the building from the eastern side and take the stairs till you reach the second floor.
Enter the building, and keep heading northwest on the second floor. You'll eventually come across a bunch of electrical devices. Get close to the devices, and you'll have a quest marker appear on one of them. Interact with the highlighted device to decrypt the data. This will complete the final task and the Decrypting the Data quest.
There are plenty of other quests to complete in the Cold Snap update, and we have dedicated guides for all.

A new report from Alinea Analytics highlights just how much of a boon the awards season has been for E33 (including Destructoid's own GOTY honors), as it has now pushed the game past six million copies sold while also boosting overall engagement on Game Pass.
My only question is: what the heck took you all so long? Was it stubbornness? Discussion around the game has been glowing since it launched in April (my review of the game was quite glowing from day one), but now that it's one of the most awarded games ever, you're ready to take the plunge?!
I jest. I'm glad people are playing it now, and in droves. Alinea says over 200,000 copies of the game have been sold since TGA aired, with 76 percent of that coming from Steam and 21 percent on PS5. Game Pass, meanwhile, is "cannibalizing premium sales," with 52,000 players trying it on the subscription service.
"The commercial impact of Expedition 33's historic nine-award sweep at The Game Awards was immediate and dramatic, providing a pretty definitive case study in the power of critical acclaim," Alinea's report concluded. "However, many of the other nominees and winners saw very little boosts (if any) following the event, so TGA is not a guaranteed post-event sales engine for every winner and nominee."
On Steam, E33 still sits at "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews, with over 27,000 recent ones. That number will likely continue to rise, further cementing Sandfall Interactive's debut as one of the biggest and best new IP in recent memory.
A new, free update to coincide with all of the awards has only helped the buzz. I haven't had the time to try it just yet, but I have reinstalled the game on Steam, so I'm looking to hopefully give it a shot whenever I have time over the holidays.

The Equilibrium dungeon in Destiny 2 brings a slew of secrets, but it's not all just Star Wars weapons and lightsaber crystals. As usual, Bungie hid some collectibles in different points in the dungeon, which help if you're looking to get the Heirloom Exotic or just want another fashion option.
Finding all collectibles grants you the Praxic Drape shader, which is the base tincture used for the dungeon's Jedi-inspired armor, and it also bumps your odds of getting the Heirloom Exotic. Here are the locations of all three of them in the Equilibrium dungeon. Don't forget to pick up the dungeon's secret chests while you're at it.
First collectible: On the ship after the first encounter
Clear the first encounter in the dungeon and keep going through the Harvester. After the pilot turns on the NLS drive and makes your screen shake, you'll come up on a small warehouse full of enemies and a semi-open area that lets you look into space. From here, drop down at the end of the hallway and find the first Equilibrium collectible on the ground, below the entrance.
Second collectible: After the second encounter, in the hangar
After taking down Harrow, Dredgen Apprentice, you'll crawl out of a duct into an open hangar with ships in the distance and a few enemies near you, including a Behemoth. Don't follow the correct path on the right, which leads you upward and into an open tube. Instead, go to the ships on the left side of the room, where the snipers are. There's a small crate behind the second ship, and you'll find the collectible inside it.
Third collectible: Below the tank after the second encounter
Continue and you'll find an area with two Behemoths and an inactive tank. Jump below the tank as usual and take the first duct on your right to find the last Equilibrium collectible on the ground, in a short hallway blocked by some junk. The item itself may be difficult to see, but the Interact prompt gives it away more easily.
Once you've found all three collectibles, don't forget to claim the Listen In triumph, which grants a boost to Heirloom's drop rate. It doesn't do anything for your odds of getting the Dark Crystal for your Praxic Blade, however.
Outside of the award, you also get the Praxic Drape shader, used in the dungeon's base armor. The brown has a slight leathery texture that shows up when using it in other gear, and one of the beige tones also brings a cloth texture. It may not go well with every armor piece, especially some of the bulkier ones. But hey, there's no such thing as too many shaders. At least until you have to scroll all the way to the back to find new ones, anyway.

Phasmophobia has all kinds of unique ghost types you can identify, and over the years, this list of ghosts has grown a few times. On Dec. 12, 2025, the Obambo joined the roster, making it one of the later game additions and thus a tougher one to identify.
Since this ghost wasn't around from the start like most others, there's a good chance you might need some help learning how to distinguish it from the rest. Luckily, this ghost has plenty of unique features you can watch out for. Here's how to identify an Obambo in Phasmophobia.
Table of contents
Obambo evidence in Phasmophobia
The Obambo has three official pieces of evidence you need to watch out for, which are Ghost Writing, Ultraviolet, and the DOTS Projector. No other ghost has these three types of evidence, so anytime you catch them all, you know for sure you're dealing with an Obambo. Here's how to capture all three.
Obambo behavior, patterns, and clues in Phasmophobia
In addition to official evidence, all ghosts have their own unique behaviors, patterns, and other such clues you can watch out for. Here's everything we know about the Obambo so far, which will be updated as we continue to encounter this ghost.
While you're working to see if an Obambo might be haunting the map you're on, you also might want to tackle some key tasks like capturing unique evidence, unlocking hidden achievements, and completing Farmhouse Fieldwork.

The Groundbreaking quest is a new activity to finish in ARC Raiders, which forms part of the Cold Snap update.
Thankfully, it's fairly easy to finish off. All the tasks can be completed on the Blue Gate map, and there are four of them. This guide will help you finish all the tasks.
ARC Raiders Groundbreaking quest walkthrough
The Groundbreaking quest can be broken down into the following parts.
Once you accept the quest from Apollo, he will provide you with the Blue Gate Communication Tower key. Make sure to keep the item safe since you'll need it to proceed with the quest. Next, head to Pilgrim's Peak on the Blue Gate map.
Enter the building from the entrance marked on the screenshot below. Go straight, and then turn left. Travel straight until you come across a locked door to your right. This is where you use the key. Head inside and you'll find a whiteboard. Investigate the whiteboard, and you'll automatically complete the second and third tasks of the quest.
The final part of the quest is slightly tricky since you'll have to stand at a specific location at the Abandoned Housing project. Head to the marked location, and you'll find the spot where you have to take the photo. You will first have to reach Abandoned Housing before proceeding to this spot.
Being at the correct spot will allow you to take a photo of the building in front of you and complete the quest.
There are more quests to complete in Cold Snap, and we have detailed guides for all of them.

Whether you see The Game Awards as a hollow corporate show or an exciting celebration of this year in gaming, you likely missed a bunch of new game announcements that happened during the event. And no, I don't mean nodding off during Highguard's reveal.
The Day of the Devs 2025 indie showcase is where all these announcements happened. The showcase streamed online two days before TGA, drawing about 65,000 viewers across the Day of the Devs and TGA channels at the time of writing. That means only three in 1,000 TGA viewers tuned in to watch it.
Day of the Devs offers new and promising indie game developers a free platform to display their games, and the partnership with TGA and Summer Games Fest ensures this happens in front of huge audiences. While the number of people who watched the showcase means most either didn't hear about Day of the Devs or straight out ignored it, it should've been one of the most anticipated moments of the event, as the games featured throughout its 11-year history prove.
Massive indie hits had a spotlight at Day of the Devs
Remember when the Hollow Knight developers were totally anonymous, and nobody knew if their game had any future? Well, I don't, but the Day of the Devs organizers do, because they showcased Hollow Knight in 2024, three years before the game launched, and 11 years before Silksong was nominated game of the year at TGA.
Other games that Day of the Devs has helped gain visibility and break into the mainstream are Cuphead, Blue Prince, and Cocoon, which were all The Game Awards nominees when they launched. Some memorable gems that didn't become so popular but are still beloved by indie game fans like myself were also part of the showcase, like Spiritfarer, Untitled Goose Game, and the brutal Getting Over It with Bennet Foddy.
Which Day of the Devs games may dominate 2026
I'm convinced the latest Day of the Devs is hiding the next big indie hit: A game we'll remember for years to come and that everyone will be praising in 12 months. My crystal ball is broken, so I can't tell you exactly which game it is, but I have some guesses.
Stretchmancer has the potential to win awards in design and innovation. It kind of gives me Portal vibes, so I also believe it can break into the mainstream if its execution is great. It may be too cartoony and silly for some hardcore—and boring—gamers to take it seriously, but I'm confident about its future. It also seems like the perfect Nintendo Switch 2 game to use the new Joy-Con mouse controls.
Awaysis is on my list to become not a hit with hundreds of thousands of concurrent players, but to be a kind of evergreen game that will come up whenever someone asks what's a fun game to play with friends on the couch. Like a new Overcooked.
The Dungeon Experience is an extremely weird game in the best sense of the word. You're guided by a talking crab through a surreal but colorful and funny world full of dungeons. I bet this comedy game will be a hit among Twitch streamers for a few days or weeks. It might just lose in the long run to the co-op physics-based Frog Sqwad.
All I know is that I'm wishlisting it all on Steam, and I hope I have enough time to play them all and say I was a fan before it was cool.

This year's installment of Phasmophobia's Winter's Jest event has arrived, bringing with it plenty of festive fun to enjoy. One of the key tasks you need to tackle in this event is finding and opening Krampus boxes.
All maps you can explore are quite vast and detailed, even the smaller ones, which can make finding these boxes rather tricky. It's much easier once you know where to look and how they work, though, so here's how to find and open Winter's Jest Krampus boxes in Phasmophobia.
Table of contents
Where to find Krampus boxes in Phasmophobia
Krampus jack-in-the-boxes can be found just about anywhere around all active Winter's Jest event maps in Phasmophobia. All of the maps that may have Krampus boxes are as follows.
Each day, Krampus boxes will only spawn at four of these locations. You can tell which ones have them by checking the map board for all areas marked with a festive present icon. The event maps are on a daily rotation schedule, as are the Krampus boxes, so the exact areas you can visit to find them vary.
Around each map, you can spot Krampus boxes on the ground, tables, chairs, beds, and just about everywhere else. They don't have fixed spawn spots or specific types of areas where they spawn. Instead, you might see one anywhere you look on any map.
What do Krampus boxes look like in Phasmophobia?
Before you open them, Krampus boxes appear as dark red, simple boxes with a star on them that is a slightly lighter shade of red. All locations are quite dark, which means they blend in fairly well even when you know what you're looking for. Be sure to scan all areas carefully to avoid missing them.
How to open Krampus boxes in Phasmophobia
You can open Krampus boxes by simply approaching them and selecting the Interact button while looking at them. This is the same button you use to perform most actions while ghost hunting.
On PC, it's left click by default, but it varies by platform or may have been changed if you switched your controls around. You can check when it is for you by opening the Journal, selecting Settings, switching over to the Controls tab, and locating the button next to the Interact option. If you want to change it, you can also do that from this page.
What do Krampus boxes do in Phasmophobia?
Krampus boxes are essentially jack-in-the-boxes that pop open sometime after you interact with them, so be prepared for a bit of a jump scare when you do so. Opening these boxes scores you event points, thus helping both you and the entire Phasmophobia community get closer to unlocking event prizes.
Interacting with these boxes is just one of the many ways you can contribute to the event's progress. If you're looking for additional methods to try, you may want to work on helping with the Naughty-or-Nice List next.

Paving the Way is one of many new quests added to ARC Raiders as part of the Cold Snap update, and completing the tasks will require us to travel across two different maps.
To begin the quest, you'll have to clear previous content that is part of the base game. To begin the quest, you'll have to travel to an ENELICA building before proceeding with the rest of the tasks. This guide will help you complete all the tasks that are part of the quest.
ARC Raiders Paving the Way quest walkthrough
The Paving the Way quest can be broken down into the following parts.
There are multiple ENELICA buildings present on the Dam Battlegrounds map, and the Power Generation Complex in the northern part of the map works.
Enter the building from the left using the stair that leads you to the top floor. I have marked the location on the screenshot below. Enter through the door, and turn left, where you'll find the notice board.
Our next part of the quest will require us to travel to the Buried City map. Go to the apartment buildings located in the southern part of Piazza Roma. Climb to the top floor (or use a zipline). This is the same location that's part of the Unexpected Initiative quest.
The last part of the quest is to find the researcher's flat and look for any research data.
There are more quests to complete in the Cold Snap update, and you can check out our guides to finish the following ones quickly.

The Clean Dream is one of the several new quests in ARC Raiders as part of the Cold Snap update, and this one can be tricky if you don't know where to look.
The Clean Dream quest can be activated by unlocking it from Apollo. This guide will list all the steps to complete the quest and unlock all the available rewards.

ARC Raiders The Clean Dream quest walkthrough
The Clean Dream quest can be broken down into the following parts.
We begin our adventure on the Spaceport map, where we will have to search for four containers. These containers are in the Tunnels region, and I have marked the location on the screenshot below. You'll find plenty of containers, and you'll have to examine any four to complete the task.
Find and monitor any Filtration system in the tunnels
The Filtration System can be found inside the tunnels, and all you have to do is just scan for it. Once you find them, get close and interact. This will complete the second part of the quest.
On the Blue Gate, visit the Maintenance Bunker
Our next set of tasks will require us to travel to The Blue Gate location. The bunker is located between the Ancient Fort and Warehouse Complex, and I have marked its location below. Descend the main stairs, and you'll come across a bigger Purification System. Monitor the system to finish the third task of the quest.
The Purification room also has a blue metal staircase. Climb up and then turn left to head to the first room on your right. You'll find the blueprints at this location. Photograph the blueprints to complete the final piece of the puzzle and the Clean Dream quest.

Krampus is back for the 2025 installment of Phasmophobia's festive Winter's Jest event. This time around, he's got a fun new task for you to engage with, which is the Naughty-or-Nice List.
We've never seen anything like this feature before, and it wasn't part of the event in 2024, so it can be rather tricky to navigate. It's a crucial event task to get done, though, so here's how to help with the Naughty-or-Nice List for the Winter's Jest event in Phasmophobia.
Table of contents
Help with the Naughty-or-Nice List in Phasmophobia
To complete the help with the Naughty-or-Nice List task for the Winter's Jest event, you need to find, collect, and return all items listed on the brown sack in each event map. You're essentially playing Krampus's helper here, as you must gather all the requested rewards for him to score some major event points.
Where to find Naughty-or-Nice List in Phasmophobia
The Naughty-or-Nice List can be found attached to a brown sack near the front door of all event maps that are active for the day. This list is unique for all maps and changes in each contract.
How to find items for Krampus' Naughty-or-Nice List sack in Phasmophobia
You can find items for Krampus's Naughty-or-Nice List sack by exploring active event maps. Each day, there are four locations you can visit that will be decorated for the Winter's Jest event. Around all of these maps, there are small gifts you can find on tables, surfaces, the ground, and just about anywhere else. Pick up these items and return them to the sack to complete the Naughty-or-Nice List objective and earn event points.
What items do you put in the Winter's Jest sack in Phasmophobia?
The items you need to place in the sack outside the active Winter's Jest event maps are small gifts hidden around each location. The exact items you need to place vary and are drawn next to each of the names on the list. As you toss items into the sack, they'll be crossed off, making it easier to keep track of your progress.
All Naughty-or-Nice List items in Phasmophobia
There are 12 festive items you may need to hunt down around the Winter's Jest maps for the Naughty-or-Nice List sack. You'll generally only need to find some, not all of them, depending on your specific list in the contract.
You can see which items you need to bring back to the brown sack by reviewing the tiny drawings next to each name. It can be tough to match the pictures to the actual items you need to find, so here's what all of them look like and where to search for them.
Most items can be found in places you might expect them to appear. Gingerbread Cookies and Candy Canes, for example, are quite common in kitchens and on dining room tables, while Coal is near all fireplaces, and Trash can be found close to trash cans.
What happens when you complete the Naughty-or-Nice List in Phasmophobia?
Once you successfully place all of the requested items in the Naughty-or-Nice List sack, a red box will pop out of it and land nearby. You can then interact with this box to claim a special prize. The first box I opened had a snowball gun. Another one I opened had a cookie. The items featured in these boxes seem to all be nods to past versions of the winter event, but we're still opening boxes and testing to see what they contain, so we'll add any additional ones we find here.
If you toss in an item that isn't listed on the front of the sack at any point, the entire bag will then fill up with coal. A red box will pop out of it, too, but this one will have coal in it instead of a fun prize. You cannot add any additional items to the sack once you mess up, so you'll have to try again in a different contract if this happens.
To earn even more event points, be sure to open all Krampus jack-in-the-boxes you come across, too.

The Stench of Corruption is one of the several new quests that you can complete in ARC Raiders as part of the Cold Snap update.
To activate the quest, you'll have to clear the base game content and then speak with Shani. This guide will help you complete all tasks of this quest to unlock all the available rewards.
ARC Raiders Stench of Corruption quest walkthrough
To begin the Stench of Corruption, you must complete A Toxic Trail first. Once you complete A Toxic Trail, you'll get a Spaceport key, which is required to complete the Stench of Corruption quest.
The Stench of Corruption quest can be broken down into the following parts.
The first task is to enter the Departure building from the location marked on the screenshot below. Head in and turn right. Head straight, take a left, and you'll find a set of stairs that go down to the staff locker room. You'll have to search the room for clues related to the saboteur.
You'll find a couple of hazmat suits in the room. Interact with them to complete the third task of this quest. You'll get a Flashing Terminal key. Make sure to add it to your safe pocket.
With the key safe in your inventory, exit the building and head to the tunnels. Use the caved-in roof to enter, and then head to the location marked on the screenshot below. You'll find a terminal where you can use the key that you just found.
Once you complete the quest, you'll also unlock the Warden outfit to add to your in-game inventory.

The holidays are here, and Krampus is ready to spread some Christmas cheer with Phasmophobia's special Winter's Jest event. Seasonal events bring plenty of fresh content to explore while you ghost hunt, which can make them a bit tricky to navigate.
Ghost hunting is hard enough on its own, so adding in some special holiday twists makes everything a whole lot harder. There are quite a few prizes you won't want to miss out on, though, so here's everything you need to know to complete the Winter's Jest event in Phasmophobia.
Table of contents
How to complete the Winter's Jest event in Phasmophobia
The Winter's Jest event has a mix of standard and special tasks for you to get done, including:
You don't have to accomplish all of these goals in every round, but the more of these tasks you do manage to get done in each contract, the more points you earn for both yourself and the community.
Winter's Jest event maps in Phasmophobia
There are 10 unique maps featured in the 2025 version of the Winer's Jest event. Each day, only some of these locations will be decorated and available for the event, as it features a daily map rotation schedule. You can tell which maps are active on any given day by looking for the ones marked with a festive icon on the map board.
How to identify ghosts correctly for Winter's Jest event in Phasmophobia
Your first key objective in all holiday event contracts is simply to correctly identify the ghost. This is the base goal of all contracts, so you should already have a solid understanding of how it works.
You essentially want to capture three official pieces of evidence so you know for sure what ghost is present, although you may be able to identify it with less if it has special unofficial evidence or signature behaviors. All ghosts have three key pieces of evidence you can watch for, though.
How to complete optional objectives for Winter's Jest event in Phasmophobia
The second key event task is to complete optional objectives. All contracts have three randomly chosen bonus goals you can tackle to earn additional XP and cash. These tasks are listed on the board right between the truck cameras and the sanity monitor.
The types of tasks you'll encounter vary, with some being fairly easy to get done, while others can be quite tricky. Easy objectives are those like cleansing the area near the ghost using Incense or getting the ghost to blow out a Firelight, while hard ones may ask you to capture a video of the ghost or capture two unique paranormal sounds.
How to find and open Krampus jack-in-the-boxes for Winter's Jest event in Phasmophobia
The main special seasonal goal is to find and interact with Krampus jack-in-the-boxes around the active holiday event maps. They're small red boxes with a star on them and can be approached and interacted with to make a Krampus head pop out of them.
Krampus boxes can only spawn on the featured daily event maps, which means you'll need to venture to fresh locations each day to find them. All you need to do when you find one is interact with it to pop it open and gain some event points.
How to help with the Naughty-or-Nice List for Winter's Jest in Phasmophobia
Right outside the front door of each holiday map, there's a Naughty-or-Nice List objective you can complete for even more points. Approach the brown sack with the attached list to view the items you need to find, which are pictured next to each of the names.
You'll then need to embark on a scavenger hunt around the map to find the required items and throw them into the sack. You're searching for items like gingerbread cookies, stars, and small bears.
All Winter's Jest event rewards in Phasmophobia
There are four unique rewards featured in the Winter's Jest event, some of which are exclusive to the 2025 version of it, while others are annual prizes that return each year.
How long is the Winter's Jest event in Phasmophobia?
The Winter's Jest event is available to complete from Dec. 16, 2025, to Jan. 6, 2026. This gives you three full weeks to tackle everything it includes, which is plenty of time to get all of the exclusive rewards. If you don't manage to get it all done, some parts will return next year, granting additional opportunities to claim key event prizes like the upgradable trophy.
