Street Fighter V Previews Upcoming Fighter Dan in New Gameplay Trailer

Street Fighter V, Capcom, PS4, PC

Capcom's Special Program TGS livestream debuted a new Street Fighter V gameplay trailer for upcoming season 5 fighter Dan. The video demonstrates his entire moveset, as well as his taunts, and it seems like the resident joke character is still up to his old tricks again. Which I'm sure hardcore Dan fans will be happy to hear.

Dan and a host of new content hit SFV in winter 2020. This includes a stage, some costumes, and a new battle mechanic. In spring 2021, Rose fans will be happy to see her join the crew, with Oro and Akira releasing in summer 2021. Those updates will also drop new stages and costumes, and it seems that Dan is getting the biggest slice of the content pie.

Currently, the team is still keeping the fifth and final fighter under wraps. While we know they're coming during winter 2021, we have no idea who it is at this time. Make sure to stay tuned for then that info becomes available.

Street Fighter V: Champion Edition launched earlier this year on February 14th. The Champion Edition included 40 characters, 34 stages, over 200 costumes, and all the modes released so far for the title. In addition, Gill — the main villain of Street Fighter 3 — was added to the roster either through the Champion Edition in February 2020. Seth from Street Fighter IV also made his debut with a complete redesign.

However, poor netcode continues to be a long running issue among players. Back in January a subredditor by the name of Altimor took to fixing it on the PC side, showing that it could be done in two days. Unfortunately the code did not work for PS4 and broke crossplay between the console and PC. Then on February 12th, Street Fighter V Executive Producer Yoshinori Ono announced on Twitter that Capcom was working on a netcode adjustment for a later release. Six days later, that patch came out and the results have been muddled, to say the least.

You still have time to snatch up Street Fighter V as one of the free PS Plus Games for this month, until October 5th. So if you have a membership, now's a good time to take the game out for a test drive.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin Livestream Details Story and Characters

During another Capcom Special Program stream at Tokyo Game Show 2020, more gameplay details were revealed for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. The livestream reconfirms that Red is not the player but is considered a legendary Monster Rider in the world. The Stories 2 protagonist is a descendant of Red (the grandson) and you'll be able to customize your protagonist in very different ways.

You can also chose from the main weapons in the mainline Monster Hunter series (sword and shield, hammer, hunting horn, and longsword), and four more weapons will be revealed at a later date.

Capcom, Capcom TGS 2020, Kamura Village, MH Switch, Monster Hunter, Monster Hunter Nintendo Switch, Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Stories 2, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, Monster Hunter Switch, Nintendo, Nintendo Switch, Switch, TGS 2020, Tokyo Game Show 2020, Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online

Ena (a Wyverian girl) accompanies the protagonist and has been entrusted with an egg by a Ratha; she possesses a Kinship stone which is used by riders to bond with their mounts. Which is strange because she's not a rider herself, but this contradiction seems to be key to the story (though details are still unknown).

There will collaboration content between Stories 2 and Monster Hunter Rise, with more details on that content coming soon. Monster Hunter Rise launches worldwide on March 26, 2021 on Switch. Stories 2 is coming on Switch worldwide in Summer 2021. There will also be three amiibo figures depicting the new riding companion Palamute, the classic fighting companion Palico, and the flagship monster of the game Magnamalo.

The most recent entry in the Monster Hunter franchise was Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Its latest developer diary starred executive/art director Kaname Fujioka and director Ichihara Daisuke and covered a slew of topics and updates for the title. It includes Rajang, Layered Armor, a new volcanic region for the Guiding Lands, and more. Players also received two new patches called update versions 11.00 and 11.01, which included bug fixes and balance adjustments among other gameplay improvements.

Overall Monster Hunter World has sold over 14 million copies, including sales of the recent expansion pack Iceborne. In other news Resident Evil 2 came to Iceborne back in November along with some hilariously out of place Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy costumes. Of course the series has always been rather touch-in-cheek about these things, so it's definitely part of its weird sense of humor.

Monster Hunter World is available now on PS4Xbox One, and PC. The Iceborne expansion for the title we found to be phenomenal and is available now on consoles. The expansion came out for PC in January and you can check out our review for that here.

Warzone is Getting a Subway System to Use as Fast-Travel

Warzone

Part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's season 6 includes a fast travel system for Warzone. The battle royal map will get a new subway system titled the Metro. It will allow players to swiftly move between seven different subway stations all across the map.

Players will need to find one of the new stations and run down the staircase. Hop over the turnstiles and proceed down further. Each station has two different directions you can take that both include small rooms with ladders that can be used to escape back up to the surface. If you would like to catch a ride, proceed down to the main platform where you will have to wait for the train.

Warzone Subway

The subway will not move if there is fighting on board, essentially making the Metro a safe haven in the game. However, if you step onto the tracks, it is instant death and your teammates will not be able to revive you or pick up your loot.

I think the Metro will be a nice change of pace for Warzone. I am sure players will change their playstyles around the new system and figure out new tricks that might help out their chances. It could also be a great "we got to get the hell out of here" tool that players can use.

Warzone Subway

On top of that, the subway will allow players to engage in combat at close quarters. Wesley Yin-Poole from Eurogamer had a great point stating that shotguns might actually be useful now in Warzone. It might actually be the most useful weapon if the circle ends on top of a subway station.

Monster Hunter Rise Live Gameplay Shows More Palamute and Waterbug Mechanics

Capcom, Capcom TGS 2020, Kamura Village, MH Switch, Monster Hunter, Monster Hunter Nintendo Switch, Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Stories 2, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, Monster Hunter Switch, Nintendo, Nintendo Switch, Switch, TGS 2020, Tokyo Game Show 2020, Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online

During another Capcom Special Program stream at Tokyo Game Show 2020, more gameplay details were revealed for Monster Hunter Rise, as well as live gameplay. The new gameplay shows off the Shrine ruins, utilizing the wire bug, using a Palamut and a Palico, and a fight with a monster that demonstrates how the new mechanics come into play.

The Action Slider lets you issue commands to your Palamute but you can also use a shortcut menu to issue quick commands and mount it as well. The most important fact we learned is that the Palamute will never die, if it gets too injured it will run for a bit and recuperate before returning to battle.

The wirebug adds a ton of different options for exploration such as being able to stick to walls and scale them. Normally wirebugs require a timed recharge and you can only use two at once. But through a sidequest, you can increase the amount of wirebugs from two to three. You can also use wirebugs to make massive jumps and increase the range of your exploration, and these points can be found around the map. Every weapon has their own unique attack combinations and mobility moves in conjunction with the wirebug, which players can discover.

However, veterans can easily jump right into the fray without worrying about mastering these new features. And as a nod to old fans, some past monsters will be making an appearance in this game too.

A collectable buff will be available around the map, which will boost stamina/health. The protagonist will also speak more, however, players can adjust this in the menu and essentially make him a silent hero.

You can watch the full gameplay video below (courtesy of GamersPrey for the footage):

Monster Hunter Rise Will Let You Pet the Dogs (Palamutes)

Mosnter Hunter Rise Nintendo Switch New Dog Palamute Pet Good Preorder Buy Release Date

It was only a couple weeks ago that it was revealed by Capcom that a brand new Monster Hunter game — Monster Hunter Rise — will be coming to Nintendo Switch. Fitted with a new dog-like animal companion (called a Palimute), the introductory trailer showed off new dynamic and fast-moving gameplay that bests movement in past games. However, one burning question existed — can you pet the dogs? Thankfully, the answer is yes.

Following the first-ever gameplay reveal of Monster Hunter Rise at the Tokyo Game Show livestream, amid demonstrations of the new verticality enhancing Wirebug, we got the first details of the Palamutes. Originally showcased in the reveal trailer, the pups have an added stamina-saving benefit that the Palicos (cats) don't have. Specifically at any time you can jump on the back of a Palamute to traverse the landscape, jump from area to area, and attack enemies.

Amid the demonstration, it was also asked whether you will be able to interact with Palicos or Palamutes in more dynamic ways. To the joy of the chat, the answer was yes — you can pet and play with your monster-hunting good boi. It's also noteworthy to point out there is no added benefit (at all) to petting your Palamute or Palico, it is simply to show them some digital love and appreciation.

For a deeper dive into companion dynamics, keep an eye out for our full write-up of the gameplay coming soon. However, you will be able to have a combination of any two companions with you on a hunt (or none at all). So you should be able to swap out your pet preference, depending on if you consider yourself a dog lover, cat stan, or a hybrid of both. This is especially true if you get the pre-order layered armor unlocking the Golden Retriever and Forest Cat skins.

Monster Hunter Rise will be releasing worldwide, exclusively for Nintendo Switch, on March 26, 2021. For more details on today's live stream from Tokyo Game Show, keep your eye out on DualShockers. Meanwhile, you can already pre-order the game now via the dedicated Capcom page.

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity Gameplay At TGS 2020 Reveals Impa Is Super Cute, New Systems

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity Gameplay TGS 2020 Impa artwork feature

Koei Tecmo and Nintendo revealed new details on Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity at TGS 2020, including new gameplay.  The stream featured seiyuu Ririko Aoki who's a huge Zelda fan, Producer Yousuke Hayashi, and Director Ryouta Matsushita. Producer Hayashi is really happy the game never leaked and they could surprise everyone.

First off, they started by recapping what we already know, and explained in particular how multiple characters actually use the Sheikah Stone in the game. Both Link and Zelda can use it, each using different functions.

Next up was the live gameplay part. They were joined by Koei Tecmo producer Furusawa, who played the game, with Director Matsushita and Producer Hayashi commenting. They explained it's from the beginning of the game, and shows characters they didn't directly reveal yet. This turned out to be young Impa. You can watch the gameplay starting the 1:13:11 timestamp of the stream:

Like in BOTW, it's also best to avoid attacking stronger enemies head on, and make a strategy instead: After you dodge an enemy's strong attack, they have a Weak Point Gauge appearing, which you can deplete by attacking at the right time. If you manage to empty the gauge, you can trigger a powerful Smash attack.

You can also gather items during battle and use them to recover your health. Overall it's the same as the first Hyrule Warriors but with BOTW elements. There's the slowmo when you dodge at the last moment too.

The game uses many gameplay systems from BOTW, such as Link being able to Bullet Time when using his bow midair. He can shieldsurf too. The same sound effects as in Breath of the Wild are included too.

We also saw a cutscene with Link saving Impa, that's also how the egg like small guardian thing is introduced. Impa then fights together with Link. That's when Link gets the Sheika Slate too. You can use the bombs to break the shields and defenses of stronger enemies. Note that while it initially seems like time is freezing when Link does that, it's only because that's the tutorial showing you how to do it. Using the Sheikah slate doesn't freeze time.

We got to see some Impa gameplay too. A new trailer was published as well, focusing on the playable heroes of each race.

We have the Japanese and the English version of the trailer below:

Next, we learned players with a BOTW save will unlock a wooden sword in Age of Calamity.

Lastly, they introduced the goods included in the Japanese limited edition of the game.

As the stream ended, the staff mentioned they specifically showed Link and Impa gameplay to show us how each character's gameplay will be completely different. They also confirmed pretty much all the enemies appearing in BOTW will be back here. They mentioned the game will have some new systems they haven't introduced yet, and how enemy AI wil be different since this is a Musou game. Judging from this comment, it looks like we won't have billions of Lynels simultaneously attacking, and with the same aggressiveness as in BOTW.

Once the stream ended, the official profile of Impa was also published on Twitter:

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity Impa Artwork Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity Impa Screenshots 1 Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity Impa Screenshots 2

"Impa is a Sheikah and a member of the Hyrule administration. While still young, Impa has the complete trust of Zelda and is a great help for managing Hyrule Kingdom. Impa is a hard worker with a serious personality, though she does let herself go at times."

Zelda Musou Yakusai no Mokushiroku will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch on November 20. You can preorder it on Amazon to support us.

When the game was first announced, Zelda Producer Eiji Aonuma also gave us a short development update on the Breath of the Wild sequel, According to multiple reports, Nintendo is planing in 2021 to release a new Switch model and major games.

Be sure to check our TGS 2020 coverage and our schedule to keep track of everything happening. In particular, Koei Tecmo staff on this stream confirmed more new info on Age of Calamity is coming on the September 27 stream at 0400 ET (other time zones) on the Dengeki Online + Famitsu Game Live Japan 2020 stream.

Former President of Rockstar North has Raised $42 Million for a GTA Rival of His Own

GTA

Leslie Benzies is one of the masterminds behind the GTA series. However, he left the studio back in 2016. He had sued Take-Two Interactive for $150 million in unpaid royalties after he was allegedly trying to be forced out by the company after taking a sabbatical. The claim was settled in 2018.

Per Video Game Chronicle, the year before the lawsuit was settled, he went on to create his own development studio, Build a Rocket Boy. He has brought over many former Rockstar employees that have helped build past GTA titles.

According to a report from The Telegraph, Benzies' studio has received investment from companies including Netease. On top of that, the latest funding round for the studio raised £32m, according to data from consultancy Beauhurst.

The first game the studio is working on is titled Everywhere. He has stated to Venturebeat a few years ago that it will be unlike anything he has done before. He stated:

"Everywhere has a lot of traditional game mechanics but we're going for something more that draws inspiration from, well, everywhere. Players are getting smarter and require more from their games, and we want players to have the real freedom to live in our worlds in the ways they want to. We're aiming to offer a huge variety of game modes and styles that not only tell our stories but also enable players to live in the identities and adventures they most want to explore."

Leslie Benzies stated at the time that the studio would be using Amazon's Lumberyard game engine to develop the game.

GTA is always going to sell like hotcakes. There probably won't ever be a true "rival" to Rockstar, at least through their eyes. However, if there is someone who could possibly do it, Benzies might be that guy.

Atelier Ryza 2 Gets New Trailer, Gameplay At TGS 2020, PS5 Announcement, Producer Comments

Atelier Ryza 2 TGS 2020

At TGS 2020, Koei Tecmo revealed new details on Atelier Ryza 2, coming to PC, PS4, PS5, and Switch. The stream featuring Producer Junzo Hosoi, Ryza seiyuu Yuri Noguchi, and chara designer Toridamono.

The stream started with a recap of everything we know so far on Atelier Ryza 2, how it features Ryza's friends coming back alongside new characters, new actions like swimming etc.

The first new announcement was a brand new trailer, which in particular revealed Empel Vollmer and Lila Decyrus are coming back too. While they appear in the game, it's unlikely they'll become party members as we only see them in a specific scene, and they don't have preorder bonus costumes.

Atelier Ryza 2 TGS 2020 Trailer

The second announcement was the reveal of the Atelier Ryza 2 theme song, titled Somewhen, Somewhere… by Clammbon, with music and lyrics by Mito. A video message from Mito was shown too. You can hear the song in the trailer.

Next, we saw some live gameplay, starting with some alchemy gameplay in the new atelier and mansion rented by Ryza. We also saw some field exploration, with Ryza riding a monster. We can see her swimming and entering an underwater dungeon too. The game is still using the same world map system with each location represented by an icon.

Some battle gameplay was shown as well. Junzo Hosoi explained it's the same battle system as in the first game but revamped and with a bigger feeling of action. Now, you can now swap active and back row party members during battle. There's also a new Item Rush system. You can watch all the gameplay at the 21:35 timestamp of the stream included below:

Following the gameplay part, Atelier Ryza official cosplayer Moe Iori joined the stream, cosplaying the new 20 years old version of Reisalin Stout. She explained she really liked Ryza's first design and her zettai ryouiki when the first game got announced, so she made her costume herself. That's how she got noticed and hired by Koei Tecmo as the official cosplayer, though she was already one of the most popular cosplayers in the first place.

Edens Zero Action RPG First Trailer, Screenshots Revealed At TGS 2020

Edens Zero game console RPG feature

Konami revealed new information and screenshots on the Edens Zero game adaptation at TGS 2020. Most notably the fact that there are actually two Edens Zero games coming. The stream featured mangaka Hiro Mashima, Edens Zero game producer at Konami Shin Murato, and Konami PR manager Toshihiro Kondo.

First off, Konami showed off a first trailer revealing there will be both a console RPG game and a mobile social game for Edens Zero. The console game also features manga parts that won't be adapted in the upcoming anime. Hiro Mashima is directly helping for the game's setting and worldbuilding.

No platforms besides "consoles" and no release date estimate were published yet.

Edens Zero Game Reveal Trailer

Some screenshots were shown. This is Blue Garden, with a huge field you can fly around in. You can wall run too. Shiki and all the characters' Ether Gear will be used in the gameplay.

The game uses an action battle system. Besides Edens Zero protagonist Shiki, many characters from the manga like Homura and Rebecca will be playable.

Meanwhile, the mobile game of Edens Zero is also an action RPG, but with the usual sociage and gacha elements. Hiro Mashima is helping with this game too and gave out multiple  ideas for the gameplay. You can change between three characters during battle.

Next, Hiro Mashima explained he made new costumes specifically for the mobile game. He was really busy so he pretty much, in auto mode, drew the first thing he thought off, while trying to make things the characters don't wear in the manga. For example, Witch usually wears black, so he made her a white outfit:

Konami Producer Shin Murato said he obviously knows Hiro Mashima has many fans worldwide, and Mashima himself is a huge RPG fan, so they'll definitely make a game that won't disappoint us.

That's all regarding the game projects. Next, they switched to the anime adaptation segment. Revealing the anime Director: Shinji Ishihira, the same Director as the Fairy Tail anime. He appeared on stream as well. He was contacted for the job shortly after the Fairy Tail anime ended basically. The animation studio will be JC Staff.

The Edens Zero anime will start airing on April 2021 in Japan on Nihon TV. A Key visual was published as well.

The main seiyuu for both the games and anime were revealed. Shiki: Takuma Terashima. Rebecca: Mikako Komatsu. Happy is still as usual Rie Kugimiya.

Gal Gun Returns Announced On Everything But PS4, Coming January 28

Gal Gun Returns - World Premiere Trailer

Inti Creates, on the Happinet Games Showcase at TGS 2020, announced Gal Gun Returns, a remaster of the original Gal Gun, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Gal Gun series, started in 2011. Gal Gun Returns will be launching worldwide on January 28, 2021, on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. It'll be coming to Steam as well in February 2021. Prior to TGS 2020, Inti Creates had already announced a new Gal Gun game would be announced at the event.

Thanks to Gal Gun Returns, it'll be the first time the original Gal Gun game is released outside Japan. Only the Switch version will have a physical edition.

What's pretty funny is how it'll be a worldwide launch, so even the 3 Japanese people who own an Xbox One will get Gal Gun Returns too. However, the game isn't coming to PS4. The previous game in the series, Gal*Gun 2 did launch in March 2018 on PS4 alongside Switch. However, a low price version of Gal Gun 2 was also announced now, and it's only coming to Switch, and PC via DMM and Steam:

It's possible Gal Gun Returns and Gal Gun 2 (low price) aren't coming to PS4 due to Sony randomly censoring Japanese games for over a year now. This censorship is actually a pretty rare occurrence, and only a handful of games have been hit in total. There are plenty of games with sexual fanservice still releasing on PS4 too. This is quite an amusing situation. It feels as if Inti Creates didn't even want to deal with Sony's incredibly puzzling decisions and didn't take the risk of having to change game elements after development.

The Gal Gun segment on the Happinet Game Showcase featured Haruka Miyake, voicing Kaname Nonomiya in Gal Gun Returns. She was cosplaying her too:

The segment started with reexplaining Gal Gun for those unfamiliar with the railshooter featuring girls trying to furiously confess their love to you as you shoot them with pheromones to make them reach euphoria.

The game will be fully voiced and includes multiple popular seiyuu such as Fumiko Uchimura, Maaya Uchida, Nozomi Yamamoto, Yukari Tamura, Yui Horie. It's definitely worth buying just for the cast if you're a seiyuu connoisseur.

Gal Gun Returns Gal Gun Returns Gal Gun Returns Gal Gun Returns

New Event CG will also be included in the game. The game will have a Story Mode, Score Attack Mode, (multi-person) Doki Doki Mode and a brand new mode titled Doki Doki Carnival Mode. You'll also be able to check all the CG illustrations in the Gallery. Nearly all of the DLC costumes from the original game like the bikini costumes and the apron costumes will be included:

Key visual, English details on the game and preorder bonus:

In Japan, the game will have a special limited edition celebrating the tenth anniversary, with an artbook and an album with all the character songs:

They specified on stream the game will receive Limited Editions in the west as well, but likely won't have the same goods.

Samples for the illustrations used on shop specific preorder bonuses were shared too on the Japanese official site. You can find them in the gallery below.
