The best crime games on PC in 2022

What are the best crime games on PC? Videogames are, and have always been, all about fulfilling a fantasy. We step into virtual worlds to fight evil, slay monsters, grab sweet loot, or go to war online. They're a chance to do something we wouldn't usually do - and that includes crime games.

With that in mind, games that focus on crime are popular for that very reason - they're (hopefully) not something you'd attempt in real life. Ever since RPG game Grand Theft Auto challenged players to earn as many Wanted stars as possible, gamers have been pushing the limits of reckless behaviour and general naughtiness.

With that in mind, we've put together our list of the best crime games like GTA you can play - and we reckon at least one of them is sure to make you an offer you can't refuse. Between modern-day crime epics, online heists, fisticuffs in faraway places, and a trip back in time to criminal empires of yesteryear, we've got a little something for everyone.

     Monster Hunter Rise system requirements

In their Monster Hunter Rise review, our friends over at Pocket Tactics describe the game as "the best Monster Hunter on the market", and we can't wait for the hunt to commence on PC. The Monster Hunter Rise release date is just under a week away, so it's best to make like any good hunter and make sure your gaming PC is equipped and prepared to deal with the game's monsters well in advance.

Despite starting out as a Nintendo Switch title, the Monster Hunter Rise system requirements are slightly more demanding than 2018's Monster Hunter: World. You can already get a feel for how the game will perform with your current rig by playing its demo on Steam. However, this likely won't be entirely reflective of the title's performance upon its full release.

One thing we know for certain is that Monster Hunter Rise won't feature cross-play or cross-save, so you won't be able to bring your progress over from Nintendo Switch or vice versa, unfortunately.

Fallout TV series moves forward with Westworld co-creator Jonathan Nolan directing

The Fallout TV series is moving full steam ahead. Based on Bethesda's long-running post-apocalyptic RPG series, the show is on the way from Amazon Studios and Kilter Films in association with Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks, and there are some exciting developments about who'll be helming the show.

As per Deadline, Westworld co-creator Jonathan Nolan will direct the Fallout series' premiere episode. Nolan has an impressive list of credits to his name, having written on some huge movies such as 2014's sci-fi thriller Interstellar (which he co-wrote with his filmmaker brother Christopher Nolan), as well as The Dark Knight, and The Prestige. Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner are also joining as showrunners. Robertson-Dworet was one of the screenplay writers on Captain Marvel, and Wagner served as a co-executive producer on the series Silicon Valley) and a producer on The Office.

There's no sign of a release date for the show yet, but it looks like it's kicking into full gear, with production due to start sometime this year.

AMD Ryzen Zen 4 CPUs – release date, price, specs, and benchmarks

2022 is shaping up to be an exciting year in the battle between AMD and Intel for the title of best gaming CPU, with both companies releasing new processors towards the end of the year. While Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 chips continue to perform well in gaming PCs and for AMD, everyone is waiting to see how the company's next generation Ryzen 7000 Zen 4 CPUs will compete with Intel's upcoming Raptor Lake processors.

When Zen 4 releases in H2 2022, we will finally see support for PCIe Gen5 and DDR5 gaming RAM on AMD's Ryzen CPUs. This will bring the company's processor offerings in line with Intel, which has supported both technologies since Alder Lake's release in 2021.

However, a combination of 3D V-Cache and a 5nm manufacturing process could see team red's chips outclass those from team blue by a significant margin, making Ryzen Zen 4 CPUs the ideal partner to the best graphics cards such as the Nvidia RTX 4000 GPU lineup.

The best truck games on PC in 2022

Looking for some of the best truck games on PC? Trucks and truckers have become mythologised in pop culture like modern-day cowboys, transporting crucial cargo across harsh, lonely landscapes and spending days in their own company. Translating that experience into a videogame has taken many forms over the last couple of decades, from Mad Max-like highway battlers to fully fledged simulation games where journeys take as long as they would in real life.

While there are not many truck games - you could mistake it for being a niche genre - there are a lot of truck game fans looking for the right trucking game for them. In an effort to help those people out, we've assembled a handful of great truck games, including the popular truck sims, but also branching out to physics-based puzzlers, platform games, and racing games with trucks.

So whether you're looking to lose yourself on a long trip along the Pacific Northwest, want to spend hours hauling your cargo through a single muddy ditch, or want to take your truck to a chicane-riddled racecourse, we've got a little something for every type of truck gamer.

     The best Minecraft servers 2022

What are the best Minecraft servers? Servers make the world go round. Or, at least, the worlds of Minecraft. It is no secret that the PC community boasts the most ambitious players in the world, and there is no better evidence of this than in the best Minecraft servers. The architectural artist's paradise, Minecraft has been a great creative outlet for players who can build to their heart's content, all without knowing a single line of code.

Their works and ideas are immortalised in thousands of servers. Every server is its own self-contained multiplayer world, with its own rules, gameplay style, and communities. We've had a hunt around to find the very best, featuring anything from breathtaking constructions and vistas to worlds with whole new rules and game modes.

One thing to keep in mind is that different servers can sometimes use older versions of Minecraft. Plenty have updated to the current 1.18 patch, but many other popular servers are sticking to older versions of the game for now. Make sure you check each server before jumping in, just to ensure you know what to expect. With that out of the way, come check out these excellent Minecraft servers.

Here's Final Fantasy 7: Remake with a classic, PS1-style camera

While the Final Fantasy 7 remake gives you plenty of new ways to view Midgar, there's always room for more nostalgia. One fan has done some camera work to show off what Final Fantasy 7: Remake would look like from the perspective of the classic PlayStation 1 'camera', and it's an absolute blast.

Final Fan TV explains on YouTube that their video is more proof of concept than a tease for a full mod, though they hope it inspires the modding community to make FF7R fully playable with classic PS1-style cameras. While the video features shots of moment-to-moment gameplay and combat, you won't see any cutscenes as "a lot of lighting and placement swaps happen when the camera is away".

The video itself features several sequences from the opening Mako Reactor run mission that are placed alongside the PS1 original shots so you can compare them. Some of my personal favourites are the far-distance views that give you a greater sense of the scale of Midgar's buildings. Sure, it also involves weaving around some structures that aren't in the camera's view, but it's part of the experience.

The best RTS games on PC in 2022

It's impossible to overstate how enjoyable RTS games can be. There are few things as satisfying as building up an immense army and simply washing over your foes like a river over stones, erasing their existence as effortlessly as a click. If you're looking for a broader list of the best strategy games then we've got a separate list for that - this one's all about real-time, where you can't hide behind the safety of turn-based strategy's pace.

Starcraft and Age of Empires largely define the genre, but indie games like Northgard and Driftland have shown there's plenty of other voices to be heard. There's also plenty to celebrate in games that are technically real-time, but not strictly speaking considered 'RTS'.

The rise of MOBAs has challenged the RTS scene quite significantly over the past decade, but this hasn't stopped some worthy games rising to the top ranks to earn their own place the hall of fame. Here's our take on the best RTS games on PC, though we're skewing more towards newer releases because, honestly, we all know how good Homeworld was by now.

AMD says you won't need a new cooler for its Ryzen 7000 and future AM5 CPUs

AMD's AM4 platform has been widely celebrated for its backwards compatibility, allowing people to upgrade their Ryzen processors without having to buy a new cooler or motherboard. However, following news that a new AM5 socket is due later this year, many are wondering whether the company will maintain its course of long term support. In a series of recent interviews, team red shared some details about AM5 that's sure to please current and prospective Ryzen users alike

Speaking with AMD's director of technical marketing, Robert Hallock, PCWorld quizzed him on everything AM5. It turns out that the jigsaw-like IHS (integrated heat spreader) design found on Zen 4 Ryzen 7000 CPUs frees room for capacitors that would otherwise need to be on the rear of the chip, which helps keep the size of AM5 and AM4 sockets the same.

Hallock also confirmed that AM4 coolers will be compatible with future AM5 CPUs, such as the Ryzen 7000 series and beyond. However, it's worth bearing in mind that there may be some exceptions, and it's likely that the company will release guidelines on what kind of specifications are required from coolers.

Intel Arc Alchemist GPUs – release date, price, specs, and benchmarks

When it comes to discussing which company produces the best graphics card for your gaming PC, Intel probably wouldn't even cross your mind, but that could all change in 2022. The company is set to take on both AMD and Nvidia next year, with its first generation Arc Alchemist GPUs.

Intel has managed to keep its Alchemist cards mostly under wraps, but this hasn't stopped benchmarks and spec sheets leaking ahead of the official launch date. First revealed in August, team blue was expected to pull back the curtain on its Xe-HPG based graphics cards during CES 2022 but unfortunately didn't share even a crumb of new details.

Alchemist GPUs face stiff competition from the likes of Nvidia's RTX 3000 and AMD's RX 6000 cards, but the rumoured 2022 launches of RTX 4000 and RDNA 3 loom large on the horizon. Regardless of how they end up performing, XeSS should help spice up proceedings against competing upscaling technologies like Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR.

You might need to wait a little longer for Intel's Arc Alchemist GPUs

Intel ended 2021 on a high note with the release of its Alder Like CPUs, but its CES 2022 offerings were a damp squib. While the blue team promised more chipsets would be coming soon, it kept hush its upcoming Arc Alchemist GPUs, and a subtle website update suggests that the graphics cards are no longer arriving in Q1 2022.

Spotted by Videocardz, the update removes the Q1 part from all Arc Alchemist GPU blurbs, meaning the site now lists a vague 2022 release. While Intel referred to its original release date plans during CES, its presentation alluded to laptop specific releases, rather than a full range of desktop and mobile graphics cards. Nevertheless, the website tweak could mean we won't see any new graphics tech from the company until later this year.

It's also worth noting that Arc GPUs are coming to prebuilt systems, which means Intel's change of course could affect third party release plans. Since it's already confirmed Intel is working with board partners like Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI, and will be bringing its Arc GPUs to prebuilt systems, this potential delay could throw off third-party release schedules, too.

The best football games on PC in 2022

What are the best football games on PC in 2022? It can often feel like there are only two or three football games you can dive into (studs raised and all) on PC. FM is the king of football management games. It can't hold a candle to FIFA's player-controlled realism and multiplayer modes but, where sports simulation games are concerned, it's the top dog. Sports Interactive's long-running franchise will always be our go-to football PC title, but there are a heap of soccer games available on PC, all boasting their own style, gameplay mechanics, and surrealness that deserve your time and attention.

Whether they're an under-the-radar studio game, an indie title, or a mash-up on different sports, there's a football game for every fan… unless you're a Juventus superfan and considering picking up a copy of FIFA.

In order to shine a light on these underappreciated classics we've compiled our favourites all in this handy list. So throw on your favourite retro football shirt and drawstring bag these FM alternatives for yourself. For the record, our favourite retro kit is the PCGN-brand Dutch national team jersey from 1976 - all comparisons to Johan Cruyff's footballing career are welcome.

New World is getting 'Expedition Mutators' to shake up endgame combat

It's a new year, which means new things are coming to New World. The team at Amazon Games has re-opened the MMORPG's Public Testing Realm (PTR) to give players a window to playtest a bunch of new features and content before they head to live servers. Among the offerings is a new feature called 'Expedition Mutators', which is designed to add some fresh spice and variety to endgame combat.

"Mutators change the familiar by augmenting 'normal' and 'named' enemies found within Expeditions, changing the way encounters play out and what strategies players should consider before battle," the devs explain in a blog post. It's not just combat conditions that'll get a shake-up, though - rewards will also change, with "new bespoke gear and resources" to nab.

The way this system will work is by rotating through a "unique combination of Expeditions and Mutations each week", and there'll be ten difficulty levels per Expedition Mutation. The idea is to work your way up the ladder in pursuit of the maximum difficulty level, with higher difficulties designed to be "extremely difficult" - and therefore laden with the best loot.

Genshin Impact Yae Miko release date and abilities

Looking for more information about Genshin Impact's Yae Miko? Yae Miko is one of the upcoming Genshin Impact new characters, appearing as one of the characters you meet in the Inazuma storyline.

She's the chief priest - the Guuji - of the Grand Narukami Shrine on Mt. Yougou, Narukami Island - it's the biggest shrine in Inazuma. In an official tweet from Mihoyo celebrating the 2020 New Year, it was revealed that  Ayaka was Yae's first guest of the year at the shrine. Like the rest of Inazuma, it's clear that Yae Miko is heavily inspired by Japan, as Miko means 'shrine maiden' in Japanese.

According to Mihoyo's description of Yae Miko, "her elegant and beautiful appearance belies an intelligent and cunning personality. She is a lady who is not easy to predict and has her own principles and methods of doing things". Players have been patiently waiting for the Yae Miko release date ever since she was first introduced, and according to information from the Genshin Impact 2.5 beta, the kitsune lady may be playable very soon. However, the following information is based on unconfirmed reports, and beta information is liable to change before release.

The best crafting games on PC in 2022

What are the best crafting games on PC? It's easy to mix these up with building games - though don't worry, we have a list of the best building games, too - as they both involve an element of construction. The critical difference here, though, is that the best crafting games are all about making things to help you survive in a harsh world, or thrive in a charming one.

Crafting games can be set in practically any type of environment, whether that's taming massive dinos or developing a cute farm. No Man's Sky sends you hurtling across a vast and vibrant galaxy with an unlimited number of planets to explore. Don't Starve, on the other hand, traps you in a hand-drawn forest with Lovecraftian beasts on the prowl. Some of these games take the sting out of survival and offer more relaxing experiences. Stardew Valley, for example, wants to teach you to look after yourself without scaring the living heck out of you.

Throughout this list we'll go over our favourite crafting games to play right now, with something to suit everyone. So, without further ado, here are the best crafting games on PC.

The best grand strategy games on PC 2022

Grand strategy games are an emerging sub-genre of strategy games that typically encompass long periods of history (or, if sci-fi, time), and involve many intricate layers that players need to contend with. It's not just about winning that war or setting up this mine; you've got to develop infrastructure, set policy, and manage internal dynamics over the long term.

This genre often involves the exploration of the map in order to better understand the resources at your command and the position of your enemies – and your friends. Lines blur when picking apart the edge cases, but by and large count on grand strategy games to make the management of your faction the primary part of the experience. They often over-lap with other genres within strategy gaming, especially 4X games, but a key difference can be in framing. Games like Civilization, for example, typically put the emphasis on managing military resources in particular, with other mechanics in a supporting role.

It can also be just as much a case as to what the accepted definitions are and how a game is marketed. In any case, this is definitely a genre worth exploring in more detail, and we've put together a guide on the best grand strategy games around.

Are you looking for the Legend or Master Lost Sector locations in Destiny 2? While many Destiny 2 Exotics can be bought from Xûr or even in the world loot pool, the Exotics in these special Lost Sector instances cannot, forcing players to explore these dangerous areas if they want the best equipment available. To make matters worse, you have to complete them on your own to get a chance at the best rewards.

Before you can take on Legend Lost Sectors, you need to complete all the normal Lost Sectors first. If you don't, the new Legend Lost Sectors will not appear on the map. There are two quests per day in which the location, modifiers, and rewards rotate out for something new. The location for the Legend Lost Sector quests appear with the daily reset at 5pm UTC.

It's important to remember that Exotic drops are not guaranteed after completing these quests, so you may have to run through the same Lost Sector multiple times. You can go through them quests with a fireteam, but your rewards will be reduced to Enhancement Cores only.

2022 is finally here and that can only mean one thing. We've got another year of hip new video games to look forward to, and we've been busy rustling up the ones we're most excited about. In truth, there are tons of games on the horizon that could easily sit on this list, and some of them are so close to release we can practically already see the pixels on our screens morphing into their lush, polygonal landscapes.      Intel 12900k Review I9 Core Gaming Performance PowerAfter years of delays, Intel has finally moved on to a more advanced manufacturing node, bringing new levels of performance and efficiency to its desktop processors. As it would have it, this technological step forward also coincides with the introduction of Intel's new Hybrid architecture that introduces a mix of big (P) and little (E) cores all on a single monolithic die. Codenamed "Alder Lake," we're looking at what is the most exciting new generation of processors from Team Blue in years. Intel seems to think so as well, because it sent us a 12900K to review for gaming performance, features, and value. And overall, we're very impressed with it along with the rest of the 12th gen Intel CPUs. As we carefully noted in our 11700K review, the last several generations of processors from Intel offered smaller performance improvements that often came at the cost of reduced power efficiency, though the revision of PCIe 4.0 support was welcome for Rocket Lake...

I'm on a spaceship with a talking tree, a creature that most definitely isn't a raccoon and a space Llama. In any other game this could be considered weird, but in Guardians of the Galaxy, it's just a Monday. Assuming they have Mondays in space. It was never brought up. The point is, the Guardians of the Galaxy are one of the strangest groups in comic books, and until Marvel turned them into a household name in 2014 they were a relatively unknown bunch of misfits that dealt in some of the weirdest aspects of the Marvel universe. So a videogame based on their antics sounds like a perfect fit. We deal in weird shit all the time. How does their first foray into games hold up?
