Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, April 26, 2023 1:59 PM Confession time, everyone: I'm still only about 2.5 hours into Disco Elysium. Games journalism sin or what? Somehow, despite being primed by the excellent time I had with its demo five years ago, I just bounced off this one. I very quickly got stuck in a frustrating loop of fatally ballsing up no matter what I did - presumably I badly biffed my stats right out the gate to get soft-locked in the first area - and despite deciding I'd restart in a day or two, several years later my play-time hasn't extended past that first session. Sad times all round, I'm sure you'll agree, but what's it got to do with Betrayal At Club Low? Well, when I picked up Betrayal At Club Low for the RPS Game Club this month, I was transported back to my abortive run at Disco Elysium. It's not that I've never played a stat-check-heavy RPG before. Far from it. But somehow, each game's presentation resonated together in my weird brain mush. It must have been something to do with the combination of a surreal, seedy, not-quite-our-world-but-still-very-recognisable setting, and the constant presence of numbers reminding me of my character's strengths stacked up against their many, many weaknesses. |

This will be the model with a disc drive. However, on the front of the Final Fantasy XVI PlayStation 5 bundle box, it reads, "Includes voucher code. No disc included."

Siliconera Wednesday, April 26, 2023 7:00 PM Synthesizing objects in Honkai: Star Rail will be important for upgrading characters, and this guide will walk you through how to unlock the Omni-Synthesizer. It will grant you access to this invaluable feature. The Omni-Synthesizer is an item obtained after doing a specific side-quest in the Herta Space Station. Head to the Storage Zone and speak to Hinkel at the designated location shown on the map below. [caption id="attachment_960927" align="alignnone" width="1200"] Screenshot via Siliconera[/caption] Her quest is relatively simple and will have you defeating a very small and manageable group of enemies to unlock the Omni-Synthesizer in Honkai: Star Rail. Once you've done this, head back to Hinkel, and the game will have you run through a few mandatory tutorials. These will elaborate on how to synthesize items that include upgrade items and consumables. Consumables can be used to increase the stats of your party or even revive and restore the energy for characters. The synthesizing menu will show you what recipes you have and what you can craft. Items used for synthesizing can be found as you explore the world in chests and other breakable objects. It's best to save items used to craft consumables until you really know what you want to use them for, especially if you're planning on tackling some of the more challenging optional enemies the game has to offer. Honkai: Star Rail will come to the PC and mobile devices on April 26, 2023. It will also eventually appear on the PS4 and PS5. Amano has also worked on Vampire Hunter D, Ayakashi, and Fairy Fencer F. The items that he has designed for Graniph all incorporate his signature watercolor style. Siliconera Wednesday, April 26, 2023 6:00 PM In an interview with Famitsu, Capcom Representative Director Haruhiro Tsujimoto stated that future titles will have cross-play support. According to Tsujimoto, Exoprimal's development was partially fueled by the desire to gain that experience and expertise. He believes that Capcom will need to make more games like Exoprimal, which will serve as testing grounds for the company's future. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!] Exporimal is a multiplayer dinosaur-hunting game that has crossplay and cross-platform compatibility. No matter what your friends play on, you will be able to play with them. The development team that worked on Exoprimal likely learned a lot in regards to making sure the game can support cross-play. Cross-play can be an important factor in whether a person decides to start a game or not. Other tidbits of information Tsujimoto offered in the Famitsu interview include Capcom's opinion on Ghost Trick Remaster, Street Fighter 6, and digital sales. First of all, it decided to release Ghost Trick Remaster specifically because of Ace Attorney's international success. It knew that it would receive attention. Tsujimoto also stated that since Street Fighter 5 sold over 7 million copies, then Street Fighter 6 could sell over 10 million units in its lifetime. So it put everything it wanted to do with Street Fighter into 6, including more eSports focus and genre expansion. Capcom will also start promoting some of its older titles. Since 2021, it has been able to sell games older than three years, and has expanded them with either new content or spin-offs. It will continue to do that. In order to decide which games it will focus on expanding or porting, it will check sales of its past games. Street Fighter 6 will come out on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC via Steam on June 2, 2023. The post Future Capcom Games Will Have Cross-Play Support appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Wednesday, April 26, 2023 5:30 PM Silvervale and Veibae will no longer be VTubers under VShojo. It seems that this is effective immediately. This is because the two of them have decided not to renew their contracts with the company. However, they will be able to continue streaming under their current identities. Due to the way that contracts can be with such companies, VTubers who leave that company might not be able to continue using their avatar or name. After Kiryu Coco left Hololive, for example, she could not continue her streaming activities as Kiryu Coco. She had to take on a new identity. However, this is likely because companies like Hololive debut its talents under new identities that it has created. Meanwhile, VTubers with VShojo continue using the avatars they had used when still independent and, as such, may not need to graduate. Silvervale is an English VTuber who debuted in 2019 as an independent streamer. She joined VShojo in 2020. As of the time of writing, she has over 356,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel. Veibae, or Vei, has a similar background. She debuted as an independent VTuber in 2020 and then joined VShojo in 2021. She currently has 625,000 subscribers on her channel. Silvervale and Veibae will continue to stream under their current identities but will no longer be a part of VShojo. The post Silvervale and Veibae Leave VShojo appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Wednesday, April 26, 2023 5:00 PM A new FFVII Remake campaign is referencing Golden Week. From April 26, 2023 to May 8, 2023, you can generate a PTO request form for the Shinra Company. Those are essentially the dates of Golden Week in Japan. You can then Tweet it with the hashtag #神羅カンパニー有休申請 for the chance to win an Amazon gift card worth 7000 JPY. Since this PTO request form is for Shinra, you are not actually getting any paid time off of work. Of course, it's a whole other story if the Shinra Company is real and you're an employee there. It's fairly easy to fill out the form. First, you choose your department and fill in the date, name, and the days you want off. Then you have to explain why you want time off. At the bottom, there is a box for any additional information. It is a very well-organized form. This Golden Week PTO form is the sixth campaign for the seven FFVII Remake campaigns. Square Enix has been holding them as part of the 25th anniversary of the original Final Fantasy VII game. Other campaigns included one for Crisis Core: FFVII Reunion, which offered a pillow of the Buster Sword as a prize. Final Fantasy VII Remake is available on the PS4, PS5, and Windows PC. You can submit your PTO request by following the Final Fantasy VII Remake account on Twitter and Tweeting it with the #神羅カンパニー有休申請 hashtag. Siliconera Wednesday, April 26, 2023 3:15 PM Like Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail will allow players to add friends to their in-game friendlist. There are some benefits to having a sufficiently filled friendlist. For example, players can accrue a total of 60,000 credits (which is one of Honkai: Star Rail's in-game currencies) when friends use their support character. Credits are used to level up characters and Light Cones, and they are an invaluable material since you'll need a lot of this going forward to fully upgrade both. Don't worry, as adding players to your friendlist is extremely simple. In order to add friends to your friendlist in Honkai: Star Rail, you will need to progress the story. Once you are able to fully access your menu, click on the "Friends" option. This is indicated by the icon of two silhouettes attached to a heart. From there, you can add suggested players to your friendlist or through the use of your friend's UID. You can check any incoming friend requests through the first tab in the "Friends" option. Your UID is found at the very top of your menu and at the very bottom of the lefthand side of your screen. Thankfully, you can easily copy and paste your UID if you tap the little paper icon next to your UID in the menu. Honkai: Star Rail will come to the PC and mobile devices on April 26, 2023. It will also eventually appear on the PS4 and PS5. The post How to Add Friends in Honkai: Star Rail appeared first on Siliconera. |

Siliconera Wednesday, April 26, 2023 2:30 PM Honkai: Star Rail, like Genshin Impact, appeared on both PCs and mobile devices. With a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 version somewhere on the horizon, it's only natural that Honkai: Star Rail should already feature controller support. Thankfully, it does on PCs, but not on mobile yet. Setting up a controller is extremely simple. Just plug in or connect your controller to your PC and you will immediately be able to play the game with your controller of choice. However, you do need to beat the tutorial first. Again, PC controller support for Honkai: Star Rail is extremely easy to set up. You also don't need to restart the game in order for it to activate, which makes it very convenient. However, players cannot rebind buttons for controller support. The only buttons players can rebind are those used for the PC version of the game, which can be done through the "Settings" menu. Honkai: Star Rail also features the option to pick a player avatar. However, there are only two options, and the choice is fairly permanent. While it has no impact on the gameplay, players will want to pick accordingly as to how they'd like to see themselves in the game. Honkai: Star Rail will come to the PC and mobile devices on April 26, 2023. It will also eventually appear on the PS4 and PS5. Siliconera Wednesday, April 26, 2023 2:00 PM Sumeru is essentially getting its own festival in Genshin Impact, and HoYoVerse detailed how people can take part in the A Parade of Providence Event and what to expect. Things kick off on April 27, 2023. As one might expect, completing certain Sumeru-related Archon and character story quests is recommended. Going through the activities will result in rewards like Primogems, a Crown of Insight, and the free four-star character Faruzan. How do you take part in the Genshin Impact A Parade of Providence event? The "entry fee" involves a bit of investment. While it does only require a player get to 30 Adventure Rank, you need to have finished both the Mondstadt and Liyue Archon Quests. If you completed Chapter 1: Act 3: A New Star Approaches, which requires AR 28, then you can begin. There are some other questions that are also "recommended," but someone can opt to "Quick Start" in-game rather than complete them. It does note the Inversion of Genesis quest, which involves Nahida and Scaramouche, and Alhaitham's Vultur Volans Chapter: Act 1 are also recommended. As for the activities, there will be six available throughout the event. Gathering of Stars is a puzzle game that involves adjusting an Artisan Astrolabe to match a design. Project Connectivity is a platformer challenge where you construct a "level," then complete it in Test Mode. Antiquity Hunt involves searching for Relice Replicas in specified spots. In Truth's Steps is an investigation minigame to find out what happened from NPCs. Concocted Reaction is a temporary Domain battle challenge. Finally, Mimetic Replication is a rhythm game involving fish, shroomboars, and weasels. Taking part in all of these earns someone Gala Excitement. As for the rewards, you can get a Crown of Insight, Faruzan, furniture, Mystic Enhancement Ore, Hero's Wit, Mora, ascension materials, and Primogems. Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and the A Parade of Providence event runs April 27, 2023 through May 15, 2023. This is mixed in with footage of the musicians joking around backstage in dressing rooms, as well as Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida personally meeting with the conductor and other members of the orchestra. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThMK6lAUA0Y The Final Fantasy XIV Eorzean Symphony 2022 concert was held on December 17-18, 2022 at the Tokyo Garden Theater in Japan. A Blu-Ray release of the concert was open for pre-orders shortly after the concert. That is now available to buy. The Blu-Ray includes bonus codes for two in-game Orchestrion Rolls from the concert. These bring the songs "To the Edge" and "Flow" into the game. Square Enix previously released performances from the concert on the official Final Fantasy XIV YouTube channel. Some of those included the songs "Close in the Distance" and "Endcaller". Final Fantasy XIV is available for PC, PS4 and PS5. The Blu-Ray of the Final Fantasy XIV Eorzean Symphony 2022 is available now from Square Enix's site. Siliconera Wednesday, April 26, 2023 1:00 PM Bandai Namco's official Tales series Twitter account revealed that a new Tales of Arise Shion figure is on the way. On April 27, 2023, pre-orders for it will appear at AmiAmi. It also showed a preliminary photo of it, which only teases the back of the new piece of merchandise. However, it does show that Shion will be wearing a swimsuit from the Tales of Arise Beach Time Triple Pack (Female) DLC. While a worldwide release isn't confirmed yet, AmiAmi does ship worldwide and have an English website. Here's the official announcement. It notes that this Shion figure will be a 1/6th scale one, which means it could be about a foot tall. She's sitting on a beach ball with Hootle on it and holding a water pistol.
For reference, here's how that Beach Time Triple Pack Tales of Arise Shion DLC swimsuit looks in-game. As a reminder, that add-on costs $4.99 and gives players swimsuits for Shion, Kisara, and Rinwell, as well as hairstyles and titles to match them. You end up getting A, B, and C versions of each costume and hairstyle in the pack. Tales of Arise is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Shion figure pre-orders will open at AmiAmi on April 27, 2023. PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, April 26, 2023 6:19 PM You'll fight in a lot of battles as you advance through the Honkai: Star Rail campaign. Sometimes, your enemies will be weak enough that everything feels quite rote. You might wish you could just activate an auto-battle mode to speed things up a little. Fortunately, the game's developers anticipated that need. Here is our guide on how to turn on auto-battle in Honkai: Star Rail. Note: We'll have a Honkai Star Rail guides and features hub soon, so stay tuned. How to turn on auto-battle in Honkai: Star Rail You won't be able to activate auto-battle when you first start playing the game. Diving through the various menus will get you nowhere. That's because the mode only becomes available once you advance far enough within the campaign. To turn on auto-battle in Honkai: Star Rail, you must first clear the Simulated Universe: First Closed Beta mission. This is a Trailblaze mission. As the plot progresses, it will naturally lead you to the mission. Screenshot by P... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, April 26, 2023 5:57 PM These days, many big RPGs that come out, especially ones with an online focus, tend to let players customize their player avatars. This design choice makes perfect sense; what better way to fulfill the "role-playing" part of a role-playing game than to allow players to look, sound, and behave however they want? And with today's release of HoYoverse's newest RPG Honkai Star Rail, many will want to jump in with a player avatar that suits them best. However, not every RPG includes full-blown character customization. With this in mind, does Honkai Star Rail allow players to customize their character? And to what extent? This may come as disappointing news, but no, Honkai Star Rail does not feature an extensive character customization system. You do have the option of picking a gender, either male or female, as well as a name for your character, but the options don't go beyond this. This limited approach resembles that of HoYoverse's immensely success... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, April 26, 2023 5:47 PM Honkai: Star Rail has a great story and a stunning universe to explore. HoYoverse has done a great job building a captivating world that players want to spend time in. But let's face it, we all know the real draw with these types of games is the gatcha systems. Unfortunately, if you want them all, there are a few hoops to jump through. Let's start with the easy ones. When you access the Mailbox function, you will have a welcome gift of 20 Star Rail Passes. Each Warp costs a single Star Rail Pass. This may be an introductory offe... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, April 26, 2023 4:29 PM There are plenty of different things to do in Honkai: Star Rail, and one of them is upgrading your characters. In HoYoverse's new sci-fi strategy RPG, you can earn characters for your team with gacha-type rolls. But the only way to make sure that you leave a battle alive is through upgrades and abilities. When perusing the character menu in Honkai: Star Rail, if you're confused by what Light Cones, Traces, and Eidolons do, we'll explain everything below. Light Cones, Traces, and Eidolons in Honkai: Star Rail explained Light Cones The first upgrade you'll learn about in Honkai: Star Rail are Light Cones. Instead of weapons like in Genshin Impact, Light Cones are equipable items that provide bonuses abilities. These bonuses come into play usually when using your character's abilities, and they also align with their Path type. This is a class system, and there are 14 in total, for now. Not only will Light Cones add HP, ATK and DEF points, they have a special ... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, April 26, 2023 4:21 PM Honkai: Star Rail is the latest title by HoYoverse, the geniuses behind Genshin Impact. The title boasts stunning visuals, a brilliant soundtrack, and superb voice acting. It's nice to see good old turn-based combat getting some love too! The multiplayer functionality in this title works differently than you might expect and isn't even mentioned at the start of the game. With this in mind, let me show you how to add friends in Honkai: Star Rail.
