Kotaku Friday, May 17, 2024 12:40 PM I first played the retro-inspired RPG Dread Delusion nearly two years ago in the first days of its early access period. PCGamesN Friday, May 17, 2024 1:32 PM We regularly experience fantastical stories in the world or videogames - flying to other galaxies, living other lives, killing robots, kissing dragons - but our own lives and the tales that arise from simply living remain relatively unexamined. PCGamesN Friday, May 17, 2024 1:03 PM So right away, this whole argument comes with a big caveat, one that needs to be made clear immediately and up top: despite hints, rumors, speculation, and even some leaked screenshots, there's no saying for sure that Deadlock, supposedly a 6v6 competitive FPS in the vein of Overwatch, really is the next game from Valve. Similarly, we don't know what Deadlock actually plays like or is like - even if it exists. And so, this article continues based on two assumptions. First, Deadlock will be the next game from Valve. Second, it's exactly the kind of game that everything we've seen and heard about it so far would suggest, a hero-based PvP shooter akin to familiar tentpole releases from Blizzard, Riot, and Respawn. What follows are my personal concerns - or rather, disappointments - but also some hopes, if those presumptions turn out to be correct. PCGamesN Friday, May 17, 2024 12:03 PM Is AC Shadows on Steam? The acclaimed stealth RPG series returns with a vengeance, and this time, Ubisoft is pulling out all the stops. Assassin's Creed Shadows finally takes the franchise to feudal Japan, the most requested period in the action-adventure game series' lifetime. Not only that, we'll also be assuming the role of a real historical figure for the first time: Yasuke, the legendary Black samurai, as he strikes an alliance with ninja shinobi Naoe during the unification of Japan. This latest installment is sure to have fans flocking back to the series, and you might be curious if an Assassin's Creed Shadows Steam version is available. PCGamesN Friday, May 17, 2024 12:02 PM Does Dead by Daylight have cross progression? There are two main questions players ask when a game is available on multiple platforms: "Can I play with friends on other platforms?" and "Can I access my save data on multiple platforms?" Known as crossplay and cross progression, these are two of the most important online features, especially in multiplayer games. Dead by Daylight is one such game, and if you have ever seen a single post or livestream from the devs, you'll surely know that the many of the comments, even with no relation to the original post, are about the availability of these features in the horror game. So, we take a look right here at the availability of both DBD cross progression and crossplay. PCGamesN Friday, May 17, 2024 10:32 AM When is the Skate 4 release date? While we've seen plenty of early footage of Skate 4 already, EA's upcoming Skate revival is a rare case of a triple-A studio showing off very early in-development footage of a game. Though we've seen plenty of Skate 4, we can also clearly see it's not ready yet. It's already been over a decade since the last Skate game, so we can hold on a little longer. The first Skate was among the most innovative skateboard games around, from its analog control scheme and semi open-world game structure to its more realistic, less edgy representation of the skating scene. The development team behind Skate 3 was disbanded after its release in 2010, and the series' community has been consistently bombarding EA message boards with questions about the series and its potential return ever since. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, May 17, 2024 12:04 PM I love building games, but it's not that often that put one down and feel particularly tempted to get straight back into it again. Of Life And Land is one of those, but thankfully not so much so that it threatens to consume my every waking moment. It quietly does several things in a modest little way, that are all the more impressive for its lack of fanfare. The core one though, is that it takes the kind of simulationist foundation normally reserved for the punishing Dwarf Fortress derivatives or gnarly logistics games, and builds on them an approachable, gentle, even philosophical game instead. In a word: it's lovely. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, May 17, 2024 11:24 AM Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut is now out and about on PC, sadly with the requirement of signing into a PlayStation Network (PSN) account in order to play the samurai action-adventure's Legends co-op mode. The same requirement, you might recall, that Helldivers 2 players recently lobbied Sony into abandoning. No such luck here, and as previously warned, the need for said PSN sign-in to happen over Windows means that Ghost of Tsushima is essentially missing a chunk of itself on the Steam Deck. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, May 17, 2024 11:00 AM "In one of Nero's many manifests," reads a books in surreal puzzle-box Lorelei And The Laser Eyes, referring to its eccentric (read: tastefully deranged) antag-artist, "there is a satirical proposal claiming that only dictators should be allowed to direct films." Developers Simogo - of well-deserved Sayonara Wild Hearts and Device 6 acclaim - seem to agree that's a position worth satirising. Lorelei, despite its single-solution puzzles, is not dictatorial. It's far too interested in collaborating with you for that. It wants you to observe, consider, and interpret its many mysteries. What's really hooked me here is how those puzzles are kept coherent and logical, despite you getting delivered a letter by dog and occasionally visiting a floppy disk bizzaro world where you converse with a magician who manifests from his own discarded hat. |

I bring it up because, as is often your way, the readership commented me into thinking about something I've been wanting to cover: the outdated relic that is the easy/normal/hard difficulty trifecta. "Ohoho," I warbled chuckilishly. "I shall craft a blistering manifesto, sharper than the apex of a Toblerone on the roof of your mouth when you try to eat it as god intended. I will solve this problem." And then I thought, "Actually, no. That sounds hard." So, instead, here are some wazzock-tier ramblings. |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, May 17, 2024 7:15 AM You might remember Enotria: The Last Song as the Italian-inspired Soulslike that shifted its release date from June to August to avoid Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree... but found itself nestled next to Black Myth: Wukong. Well, scratch that August release, as now it's been shifted back to September instead! But hey, there's a demo coming out real soon that'll hopefully give us a better sense of what the game's like. I imagine it'll involve a lot of fighting spindly monsters, dying, and resurrecting at whatever object they've decided will be the equivalent of Dark Souls' bonfires. Likely something Leonardo da Vinci made or drew or invented. That man's stats were specced high. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, May 17, 2024 6:42 AM I've clocked up nearly 400 hours playing BioWare's big fantasy RPG Dragon Age: Inquisition, which is not a stat I'm particularly proud of. I'm not ashamed either, partly because, as has been identified by artist Corey Brickley, via the Maw, there's a lot of filler. Brickley has collated a list of suggested mods to slim down Dragon Age: Inquisition from a potentially 80 hours-long epic to a trim 40 hour story-focused romp, which means you might be able to play through it again in time for the launch of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf - which is a direct sequel to Inquisition. I find this list of mods interesting! It's a way to change the game quite substantially without exactly transforming it, and it's very in-keeping with my campaign to make games 60% smaller. Still, there's at least one item on there I'd push back on, but also this isn't really a new problem for Dragon Age as a series. |

Taito has added some big Sanrio plushes into its crane games, with the mascots dressed like they're chuuni delinquents. You can also try to pull for these plushes from the Taito's online crane service.
There are four variations of plushes to get: Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Badtz-Maru, and Kuromi. Kuromi and Cinnamoroll are wearing eyepatches and have bandages over a ear. Hello Kitty doesn't have an eyepatch but she's winking. Badtz-Maru has closed both of his eyes, and both he and Hello Kitty have badges around an arm. Badtz-Maru's outfit is the closest to a stereotypical Japanese delinquent, complete with a red shirt and an open gakuran.
These plushes are from Sanrio's Darkness School series. It reimagines the mascots as students living out an extraordinary daily life in a school that has been consumed by darkness. This is a fairly chuuni kind of setting, which explains the bandages around the character.
For those who don't know, chuunibyou or Middle School Syndrome is a term to describe how embarrassing kids around thirteen or fourteen can act. "Symptoms" include convincing others around them that they're smarter than they appear (using terms and words that sound cool but might not be appropriate for daily conversation) or that they have special powers and abilities. People with chuunibyou may see bandages as cool due to characters like Hiei (Yu Yu Hakusho) and Dazai (Bungo Stray Dogs) having them.
The Sanrio Darkness School plushes are available in Taito crane games.

Back in April 2024, Cover promised the 0.7.0 Hololive Holoearth update in May 2024 would add lifestyle updates like avatar customization, and Hololive CEO Motoaki "Yagoo" Tanigo took to social media to show these elements off. He highlighted his avatar, other players' characters, and the customization feature.
The first photo from Tanigo's visit to Alternative City involved a picture of him posing with four other players.
In the second picture, the Cover CEO showed what happens after a Hololive Holoearth player heads to the Altermode shop to buy and change the clothing and accessories their avatar wears. While he was wearing a black shirt with the experience's logo and green cargo pants in the first screenshot, he's wearing glasses and a new top, pants, and shoes in the second.
The third picture involved another close-up of his character in Holoearth. It allows someone to see the hairstyle, glasses, and shirt option more closely. Following sharing this screenshot, Motoaki Tanigo changed his official social media avatar to it.
Tanigo is often active in promoting Hololive and Holostars events and activities. In addition to typical activities such as sharing social media announcements and attending events, in the past he also served as a model for products.
There's no exact release date for Holoearth yet, however the latest roadmap suggested the full version could end up appearing in May 2025. We do know some combat elements will arrive in 0.8.0, which is expected in June 2024. Then a 0.9.0 update will follow that later in 2024.
The Holoearth Metaverse is in development for PCs, and the beta version is available to download.

Epic Games is teasing a surprising, timely crossover seemingly coming to Fortnite Battle Royale in the near future. It looks like the two massive franchises Fortnite and Fallout will be coming together for an event, though there is no release window or date for the crossover just yet.
The Fortnite and Fallout tease began with a short tweet from Epic Games with an image. The image appears to showcase one of the Brotherhood of Steel members from the Fallout series, but in the Fortnite style. This looks to be hinting at a likely skin players will be able to get in the near future.
In addition to that, the image showcases a factory-like location of some kind underneath the Brotherhood of Steel member. This spot could be a brand new location in the upcoming Chapter 5 Season 3 Wrecked. As a result, it is possible this upcoming post-apocalyptic-themed season will feature a massive crossover with Fallout.
Here is the official teaser. It also features emojis that recreate the Vault Boy expression of a person winking while giving a thumbs-up sign.
This possible Fortnite and Fallout crossover season could feature Wasteland-themed locations from the Bethesda series, plus a Brotherhood of Steel skin possibly in the new Battle Pass. This timing makes a lot of sense, too, with the recent Fallout Prime Video TV series. Fortunately, it won't take long for players to find out if this is the case, since the new season is coming out in the near future.
Fans can look forward to the release of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 Wrecked on May 24, 2024. Fortnite and Fallout fans alike should wait until then for more info on how this teased crossover event will work.
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 is coming to Android, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Spike Chunsoft confirmed it will release two The Quintessential Quintuplets dating sim games in English on the PS4, Switch, and PC. The Quintessential Quintuplets: Memories of a Quintessential Summer and The Quintessential Quintuplets: Five Memories Spent With You will both appear on May 23, 2024 and can be purchased alone or in a double-pack.
Both of these dating sim visual novel games pull from the original The Quintessential Quintuplets series, but let you pick which Nakano sister Fuutarou ends up with in the end. Memories of a Quintessential Summer involves a summer trip gone awry due to a storm. It also involves some character development elements, since players help determine the sisters' study schedules to help boost their abilities in certain school subjects. Meanwhile, Five Memories Spent With You involves the five sisters, Fuutarou, and Fuutarou's sister going on a graduation trip together.
Spike Chunsoft already confirmed launch discounts will be in effect for each game and the double-pack between May 23-30, 2024. Alone, each game purchased separately is $34.99. If someone gets the double-pack that includes both games, it will be $59.99.
There's another The Quintessential Quintuplets game on the way, though it is another console adaptation of a puzzle game rather than a more straightforward dating sim like these two. The Quintessential Quintuplets: Gotopazu Story 2ndwill appear in Japan in 2024 on the Switch and PS4.
The Quintessential Quintuplets: Memories of a Quintessential Summer and The Quintessential Quintuplets: Five Memories Spent With You will come to the PS4, Switch, and PC on May 23, 2024, and both are already available in Japan. The anime is on Crunchyroll, and Kodansha handles the manga.

Visual Arts and Prototype announced that they will release the classic PC visual novel Kanon on Steam. The Japanese companies have also published a Steam page for the title.
The visual novel will be available with Japanese voiceovers and subtitles in Japanese, English, and Simplified Chinese. The Steam version will feature HD-remastered visuals with an almost complete voiceover. Most of the title's original voice actresses, such as Yui Horie (as Ayu Tsukimiya) and Yukari Tamura (as Mai Kawasumi), will reprise their roles. Meanwhile, Tomokazu Sugita will provide partial voiceovers for the player-controlled protagonist Yuichi Aizawa.
The Steam release does not mean it's the first time Kanon appears on PC. In fact, PC was the very first platform the visual novel appeared on, since the times when physical disc drives were still commonplace. Visual Arts first released Kanon as an R-18 title in June 1999. It then released the all-ages version for PC in January 2020, which also serves as a basis for all ports to other platforms.
Outside of PC, the visual novel was also released for the Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable. It has also since been made available for Android and iOS mobile devices in Japan. In April 2023, Prototype released the Nintendo Switch port of Kanon.
The visual novel Kanon is readily available on Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS as ongoing platforms, and it will also be available on the PC via Steam in the near future.

Bucket and Shovel have opened up pre-orders for a resin statue of Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae from Honkai: Star Rail. The figure costs $60 to pre-order and will ship out in Q4 2024, and there is a limited (188) supply.
The statue is a 1/6 figure, and it'll come with a base as well. It depicts him in his Imbibitor Lunae form while holding Cloud-Piercer. The stand is a lotus and he has the Long-like dragon he creates surrounding him. The $60 is the pre-order price and the statue itself is much more expensive. It costs $499.86 for the standard version, which is what you see below. There is also a "nude" variant for $171.43. There is no prototype yet but we can see from the art that it shows what Dan Heng might have looked like during his time in the Shackling Prison.
There are instructions on the website as to how to pre-order and purchase the statue. Bucket and Shovel does not offer refunds. However, there is a replacement service should you received a damaged statue.
Though not from YY Studio, Bucket and Shovel has other Honkai: Star Rail figures for sale as well. There is an Acheron resin statue from Jigenworld and a Robin resin statue from LoveHolic Studio. As a reminder, these are not official pieces of merchandise from HoYoVerse.
Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices.

Undertale and Deltarune creator Toby Fox commented on his collaboration with Hololive Vtuber Amane Kanata on the song "Fallen Wing," which also is being produced by Camellia. The comment came as part of a mini-newsletter sent out to those on the Undertale and Deltarune mailing list.
Deltarune creator Fox began by describing how he watched Kanata's streamed playthrough of Undertale, and stated that he was moved by her reaction to the Pacifist ending of the game, which led him to reach out to Kanata about a collaboration. Here is the full statement:
He went on to describe how seeing her struggle with hearing loss while pursuing music resonated with him, as he himself suffers from wrist issues that prevent him from working on his own projects. He also praised producer Camellia's arrangement for the song and linked to an instrumental sample.
You can read the full mini-newsletter here, and listen to the song in question below:
Amane Kanata also appears in the Magical Girl holoWitches project revealed by Cover and Hololive earlier in May 2024. Toby Fox, meanwhile, also released an update newsletter back in February 2024 that offered an update on the development of Deltarune's Chapter 3.
Unknown Diva, featuring the song "Fallen Wing" by Amane Kanata with Toby Fox and Camellia, is available now via Spotify, Youtube Music, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Itunes, and the Hololive official shop.

PC Invasion - FeedDDD Friday, May 17, 2024 1:03 PM Out of the blue, Fortnite confirmed that they'll be collaborating with Fallout – something fans have been pining for since the show came out.
