Upcoming cyberpunk flight sim G-Rebels is like a more intense Elite Dangerous

I'd like to think videogames make flying easy. Even in Microsoft Flight Simulator, if you customize the settings and tweak the difficulty, you can make an intercontinental journey in a 747 feel like a breeze. Freedom, exploration, spectacle - these are some of the things that games do best. If you take the mechanics of a plane simulator, blend them with the galactic narrative of Star Citizen, and throw in some of Cyberpunk 2077's hard-edged aesthetic, you get G-Rebels, a new flying and dogfight game that's just been announced.

GTA 6 isn't here yet, so play new sandbox crime game The Precinct instead

GTA 3 has the atmosphere, Vice City has the soundtrack, San Andreas has the freedom, GTA 4 has the story, and Grand Theft Auto 5 turned the whole series upside down with its limitless online mode. But for me - and I know this makes me sound old - the best GTA game is still the 1997 original. Grungy, nasty, and low-budget, it fits the tone of Rockstar's crime sim exactly, and it's reminiscent of an age when videogames were underground and dangerous. Inspired by GTA's old-school, top-down visual style, The Precinct feels like a mix of modern and retro, but with a twist. With Grand Theft Auto 6 still a distant wanted star on the horizon, you should play The Precinct today.

Coming from indie studio Avancadia, this RTS puts a distinctive twist on proceedings by emphasizing your resource management and production lines, and you'll be able to try it out for free thanks to a Steam Next Fest demo ahead of the game's now-announced release date.

The biggest Skyrim mod just got the modern overhaul it deserves

It's hard to overstate just how vital great UI is to a game. Every single setting, mechanic, and feature is unified under one style and presented to the player in a way that should, hopefully, enhance the overall experience. Sometimes UI becomes the soul of the presentation, with Persona 5's bold red, white, and black combinations defining so much of your time in-game. Elsewhere UI is diegetic, with Dead Space's holograms existing within the game itself, pulling you right into the worst day of Isaac Clarke's life. The importance of the Skyrim UI is no different, but that's why this brand-new mod is worth checking out.

How to activate the brazier in Diablo 4 The Sacred Hunt quest

How do you interact with the brazier in The Sacred Hunt quest? Diablo 4 has a fairly long Spiritborn quest to unlock a place called The Spirit Hall. It involves some exploration, a lot of fighting, and a beast that is seemingly immune to all damage. That isn't why we're here though - there's a point in the quest where you must interact with a brazier in some way to proceed, but it's a little murky on what you actually need to do - that's where we come in.

The latest Diablo 4 DLC is here, and we delved deep in our Vessel of Hatred review to give you our honest opinion (we enjoyed it). If you want to undertake The Sacred Hunt quest you'll first need to get your Spiritborn class character to level 15, so get that boxed off. It might also help to hire a Diablo 4 mercenary to make the tough fights ahead a little easier.

What are the Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero system requirements? The latest Dragon Ball fighting game is proving to be a hit on Steam already, and one reason behind this success might just be the ease with which you can get it running on older gaming PCs and laptops.

Blizzard explains that one wild plot twist in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred

As if that vaguely horrifying Summer Game Fest trailer wasn't enough of a giveaway, Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred is defined by blood, guts, and gore. There's death, destruction, and violence, framed by a gorgeous jungle-inspired world and the rumbles of religious conflict. VoH is, for me, absolute perfection, but there was one plot point that completely threw me off. While it's hardly going to deter me from playing the game all over again, I ask associate narrative designer Eleni Rivera-Colon about that decision, and the game's comparatively hopeless ending versus Lilith's demise at the end of Diablo 4. Note that this article contains major spoilers - you've been warned.

WWE 2K24 codes October 2024 - all locker codes

October 9, 2024: We added a new WWE 2K24 code.

What are the new WWE 2K24 locker codes? One of the many modes in WWE's latest wrestling game is the returning MyFaction mode. For those who don't know, this is a variant on the premium mode from other 2K sports games, where the aim is to build a faction of wrestlers to take on online challenges against AI or matches against other player-controlled teams.

These WWE 2K24 locker codes are specifically for the MyFaction mode, so if you're looking for other WWE 2K24 unlockables, then we have a separate guide to help you get all the Wrestlemania arenas and MyRise unlockables, as well as the ability to play as all the WWE Legends. Looking for a Genshin Impact tier list? There are currently 93 Genshin Impact characters available, providing you with a wide variety of candidates to construct your dream team. But with so many weapons, elementals, talents, ascension bonuses, and constellation upgrades, finding your favorites can be challenging.

Don't let the placement of the characters on our Genshin Impact tier list deter you from pulling on the next character banner. While base stats and elemental abilities are important, the value of a character also depends on personal playstyle, available weapons and artifacts, and team composition. It doesn't matter if your favorite Genshin Impact character is on one of the lower tiers; you can still make it work with our recommended Genshin Impact builds. Being on a lower tier in the free PC game means that there are better alternatives, or the character needs a very specific build or team to shine.      New Counter-Strike 2 update punishes cheaters for an entire year

Cheaters are the bane of online games, but in some cases, it almost feels worth people using bugs, exploits, and hacks just to see what ingenious punishments developers will deploy. Long-time Valve fans will remember the famous Christmas chests for Dota 2, which when opened by cheating players, contained nothing but a digital lump of coal and a message that they had been banned. Rainbow Six Siege also had a good one, where if you tried to team-kill a compadre, you'd actually end up shooting and eliminating yourself. Now, the new Counter-Strike 2 update comes down hard on anyone exploiting the recent armor stars bug. If you get your kicks from conning the entire in-game trading system, Valve is going straight for your neck.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 won't be an "open sim" like the 2004 original game, according to Paradox Interactive. Now in development at The Chinese Room, it'll be an action-RPG with a relatively linear story set in the World Of Darkness universe. This obviously plays to The Chinese Room's strengths - they're better known for melancholy or horrifying strolls through broken spaces than the Dishonorable massaging of intricate systems. But it also reflects Paradox's view that the original Bloodlines has been "mythologised" a bit: people love the memory of it more than the reality, and there are aspects of the 2004 game, according to Paradox's deputy chief executive officer Mattias Lilja, that simply "wouldn't fly today".

It's easy to think of your PC's RAM as something that just needs to be enough, rather than a powerhouse like the graphics card or CPU. Easy for me, anyway, until testing out the Silent Hill 2 remake this past week served up a reality check: modern games need a lot of memory, and in SH2's case, might not even get past the Steam launcher if they decide you're lacking in it. As penance, I've found some DDR5 RAM deals in the Prime Big Deal Days sales that should set any modern rig for years and years of... well, games launching properly, I suppose.

As such, while 16GB is the bare minimum you can get away with, I'd recommend 32GB to be safe. For pure value, check out Crucial's DDR5 Pro set, which I've been using in my own testing setup for a while: it's down from £140 to £80 on Amazon UK, and down from $150 to $81 on Amazon US. But the single best deal here, I reckon, is Corsair's Vengeance RGB kit, which the US site has slashed from $130 to $100. That's the same price as the non-RGB equivalent kit while also being faster, at 6400MHz to 6000MHz. Us UK folk can also get a similar set for £101, down from £147, though that's set at 6000MHz.

A few months ago, Broken Sword creator Charles Cecil walked out of the office of Revolution Software and onto the Shambles, the Diagon Alley-esque street that has survived since York's days as a medieval trade hub. He closed the door behind him, somewhat grumpily - he'd had to work late, and it was already past eight o'clock. Then a voice piped up behind him.

"And one day, when you get older, you will play Broken Sword," said a young woman to her toddler. "This is where Revolution are based."

Cecil had stumbled across an annual pilgrimage to the site where British point-and-click adventures are made. From the sounds of it, this young woman was not alone in making the journey. Cecil registered Revolution's office address on Google a year ago - and received an email to say that 40,000 people have checked it out since.

"We're incredibly blessed to have a really positive and lovely collection of people who want us to succeed and love the games that we write," Cecil says. "We love our interaction with them."

These might read like the words of a good community manager, rather than a man expressing a deeply-held sentiment. Yet Cecil does not take his relationship with Revolution's fans for granted. At times in his long career, he has lost touch with his audience. And at others, he's feared they might turn their back on him.

For the record, I still think it's easier and safer to go with a microSD for your Steam Deck storage needs, and with good Prime Big Deal Days savings on two of the best – the Samsung Pro Plus and the SanDisk Ultra – that opinion remains unbudged. Still, you know what they say: when you're holding a tiny screwdriver, everything starts to look like a tiny screw. So I understand if the call to replace the Deck's internal SSD, or indeed that of your Asus ROG Ally, proves too strong.

In which case, have a look at the Crucial P310, which I added to our best SSDs list just last week, and is currently joining in the Prime sale frivolities. Specifically, the 1TB model has been slashed from £128 to £70 on Amazon UK, while it's the 2TB version that gets a US discount, dropping from $265 to $168.

The obvious way of bundling up Beautiful Light is probably "Hunt Showdown meets S.T.A.L.K.E.R.", and whoops, I've already committed to that in the headline. But the first game that came to mind when I chanced on some playtest footage last night was The Town Of Light, LKA's deeply disquieting game about exploring a carefully recreated abandoned asylum.

There's the title overlap, of course - it's always a bit of a provocation when horror games make a point of being well-lit. Beyond that, the two games share an interest in dessicated interiors where chairs huddle disconsolately, where the sun slides through windows whose curtains have rotted away, and the plaster flakes in ways both pretty and macabre. But where The Town Of Light gave you one rambling building's worth of encroaching hallucinations, Beautiful Light gives you a whole wilderness, where the architecture scales from "dreary forgotten school" to "gleaming underground base". It also gives you a lot of guns. Devised by Geneva-based Deep Worlds SA, this is a team extraction shooter where six squads of three gasmasked alpha-bravos compete to retrieve an artifact from a quarantine zone full of deadly anomalies.

The cosy (but maybe not so cosy) tea-brewing adventure Wanderstop has been delayed until next year, say developers Ivy Road. The colourful game about a troubled arena fighter retiring into a life of lapsang souchong and repressed urges to do sudden violence had previously been planned for a release some time in 2024, according to the developer's original announcement. But game development is, as ever, a fickle destroyer of plans. "Reading the tea leaves, it has become clear that Wanderstop needs a tiny bit more time to fully bloom," they said in a Steam post yesterday, adding that their new estimate is "early 2025".

Amazon's latest Prime Big Deal Days has entered its final day – of deals – so capacity-deprived gaming handheld owners still have a few hours to grab themselves a cheap microSD card upgrade. And if space is the sole concern, it's hard to get more substantial than the 1.5TB SanDisk Ultra. Never mind how the header pic shows a 64GB card, the much more desirable 1.5TB version is down from £149 to £100 on Amazon UK and from $150 to $89 on Amazon US. Both of those are very fine bargains indeed, for a card that dwarfs even the biggest SSD options of the Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally families.

Why, Hawthorn, must you put in me a position where I have to balance my love of woodland fantasy against my complete exhaustion with chopping things down to build other things? There are two scurrying mammals wearing robes inside of me, and they both love Redwall, Mice And Mystics, and Mouse Guard, but might spontaneously combust if they have to craft another hatchet. A trailer, eh? Is...is that a mouse and an otter dancing on top of a table, each grasping a mug of ale in their tiny paws and dancing to fiddle music? Fine! Fine! I'm not happy about this, but Fine!

Hololive Ina'nis Hiatus

Ninomae Ina'nis, a Vtuber from Hololive English's Myth group, announced on October 9, 2024 that she will be essentially going on hiatus due to being unable to stream or post on social media "until further notice." She hopes to be able to talk about it sometime next week, after her flight home.

While Ina did not elaborate, she did say it was due to an internal logistical issue that she tried to overcome. She also left a follow-up tweet stating that she "wasn't going anywhere," likely to assuage fears of a graduation following the departure of Amelia Watson. A Hololive Production tweet stated that her manager would be operating her social media during the period. In the meantime, she has said she will likely have to cancel her streams and pull out of upcoming events, which may include the 7 Days to Die collaboration she was scheduled to participate in alongside many other Hololive English members.

You can find the statement made by Ina'nis on social media below:

Back in July, 2024, Ina appeared as part of the Halloween themed Hololive Figure Collection Volume 2, alongside the rest of Hololive English Myth. Meanwhile, last month fellow Myth-member Amelia Watson announced she is stepping back from her streaming activities and will only be a Hololive affiliate.

Hololive English Vtuber Ninomae Ina'nis will be on hiatus until further notice, but you can still watch her archived streams over on her Youtube channel.

Dynasty Warriors Origins - Diaochan might not be part of the playable character roster

The Dynasty Warriors series will make its return in 2025 with Dynasty Warriors Origins after seven years since the last mainline entry—Dynasty Warriors 9—came out in 2018. Koei Tecmo has been gradually revealing details of the new game, which will have an overhauled gameplay system that should better portray large-scale battles in classical-era China. However, the company also heavily hinted a small roster of playable characters in Dynasty Warriors Origins that might not sit well with long-time fans of the series.

A majority of Dynasty Warriors fans have been particularly fixated with a large number of unique characters of weapons. This is why many of them still regard Dynasty Warriors 8 (and its Xtreme Legends expansion) as the series' peak, as it had around 80 characters with all having their own unique weapon sets. Even when Dynasty Warriors 9 had even more characters added to the list, its reception fell flat as Omega Force reduced the number of unique weapons following the adventurous implementation of the State Combo action system.

The new Dynasty Warriors Origins will have its action system return to the tried-and-true Charge Combo system from most of the series' entries, where players can launch different strong attacks based on the normal attack chain position. However, many long-time fans raised their eyebrows when Omega Force all but confirmed the further reductions of playable unique characters and weapons.

Subsequent live streams during Tokyo Game Show 2024 gradually suggested that Omega Force will only feature nine out of the 94 that appeared in Dynasty Warriors 9 as playable characters in Origins. The game's producer Tomohiko Sho added that most of the remaining characters, including the likes of Lu Bu and Diaochan, will only appear as unique NPCs in battles and cutscenes.

That also means Sun Shangxiang will be the only playable female character in the Dynasty Warriors Origins roster. None of the existing characters will be available to control for a long time either, as Omega Force will make them appear as companions for a new original protagonist, who also acts as the player's avatar in the game's story.

In addition, Sho has also confirmed that the new male protagonist will not be customizable beyond the input for his name. But to play devil's advocate on this matter, perhaps Omega Force had to do it to distinguish the game from Team Ninja's Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, which already featured a customizable protagonist in the same Chinese Three Kingdoms era.

The sudden roster reduction in Dynasty Warriors Origins could be very much attributed to Tomohiko Sho, who took over the producer's helm from the series' long-time producer Akihiro Suzuki. Sho was also in charge of Dynasty Warriors 6, which was also one of the series' lowest points as it completely omitted several unique characters who had appeared in Dynasty Warriors 5, such as Sun Ce's wife Da Qiao.

Although Sho had since promised that he would not omit any unique characters in Origins, the TGS presentations revealed that it would only apply to figures featured up until the Battle of Chi Bi (Red Cliffs) in 208 AD. That ultimately means characters who would only appear after the major battle still end up getting omitted entirely.

In addition, Sho also hinted in one of the TGS streams that Cao Cao's son Cao Pi might not appear in Origins, and that might add a contradiction to the game's roster and storyline. One of the gameplay showcases shown at TGS 2024 already confirmed the appearance of Cao Pi's eventual wife Zhenji in the Battle of Guandu, which historically took place in 200 AD.

While Zhenji would not immediately surrender to Cao Cao's army following this battle, the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel had Cao Pi participate in his father's conquest of the Yuan clan's capital city Ye in 204 AD while taking Zhenji as his wife. If Cao Pi does indeed not appear in Dynasty Warriors Origins at all, the game would not feature this episode and run contrary to Producer Sho's promise of depicting the covered period's events in more detail.

In previous Warriors entries, Koei Tecmo would usually address the character roster issues by releasing DLC that would turn some of the NPCs into playables. But as of TGS 2024, the company has curiously still yet to even announce a season pass that would normally contain these extras.

Koei Tecmo and Omega Force had previously done a similar overhaul in character and weapon rosters with Samurai Warriors 5. But by branding the new game Dynasty Warriors Origins, the company and the studio does seem to have learned a lesson to properly mark the new game as a reboot.

However, while Omega Force may place its focus on improving the battles' presentations and the uniqueness of each weapon type's move set, all of those might be in vain if many of the long-time fans, who have grown attached to the series' characters, renounce their support for the new game due to its dismal roster.

Dynasty Warriors Origins will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC worldwide on January 17, 2025.
