11 minutes avg. | Men: 112 seconds on CubicZirconia.com (but men buy more...HOW is it possible?) | | She Decides and Buys, and He Pays and Wraps | | Ever wondered how men KNOW what gift jewelry to buy the woman in his life? Men buy gift jewelry that the woman in his life: - explicitly tells him to buy,
- overtly hints she wants 'someday',
OR - subtly arranges for him to indirectly 'discover' she wants (through some sneaky feminine ninjutsu men will never understand).
These facts are indisputable after all the years we've been in this biz. And this reality accounts for why 70% of our CubicZirconia.com website traffic is made up of women-- who spend an average 11 minutes on our site-- and yet 70% of our higher-ticket sales are to men (who spend an average 112 seconds on our site). Conclusion it doesn't take an MBA in business to figure out: marketers selling gifts to men are mistaking how the actual purchase process most often happens in 2026.

If you're a modern woman...or dating one...this may have seemed like fiction a few decades ago, but now you probably accept it as a fact.
Hell, we'd bet just about anything that there's a guy reading this today because his woman is a sneaky ninja. In recent years, our jewelry company has served more and more women shopping not only for gift jewelry she wants to receive from a gift giver...but even modern women who are shopping for her own engagement ring. While some of these conversations result in immediate sales with her name on the order, more are simply seeds she'll plant in the soil when she and he are ready.
There are overt hints and outright instructions (yes, a large and growing group of women pick their own engagement ring and tell him to buy it...or at the very least drop him a very strong hint).
The trend isn't limited to our jewelry company, either. | | Wedding website and community The Knot puts out a Jewelry & Engagement Study almost every year and the stats are pretty clear:
- An increasing % of women proposed to say they actually looked at rings together with their partner.
- More than 7 out of 10 of those proposed to say they were somewhat involved in selecting or purchasing their own engagement ring.
- More than 80% of proposers say their significant other dropped hints about ring preferences.
That's from answers among hundreds of thousands of worldwide couples engaged in the last decade or so.
Adding an item to her online Wishlist is one way ladies will set the gift jewelry process in motion: Hint, Hint. | | Adding his email address to our educational and marketing emails? Could be another hint…
| | P.S. Fellas, you can still maintain a LOT of the gift surprise by being clever about WHEN you give it to her. P.P.S. A note from one of our long-time male staffers, Marvin. T: "If your man is anything like me (I've been married close to 20 years and I still can't figure out my wife... LOL!), you'd be doing him a huge favor. Some of us guys aren't designed to take subtle hints -- if it does not hit us in the head hard enough, it won't register!
As far as guys from my tribe are concerned, we'd rather have our ladies pick out a ring or other piece of jewelry they're really crazy about and just pay for it...than for him to choose the piece --which a lot of us know nothing about-- ending up with something she's not too fond of…and still having to pay for the darn thing."
