A screenshot from Mario Tennis Fever shows a yellow Toad raising a baton above his head while Baby Mario and Baby Luigi face him.

The Mushroom Tennis Academy isn't just about on-the-court skills. In Mario Tennis Fever's story mode, you'll eventually need to test your knowledge in a classroom. Professor Toad will ask you a series of questions, and you have to answer them correctly to get your sticker and move on to the next assignment.

There's a total of five quizzes you'll need to ace before you can move on to the next rank, and each one has only three questions. Here are all the questions and answers for each quiz in Mario Tennis Fever's Adventure mode.

All Rank E quiz questions and answers

All the questions in the Rank E quiz cover the game's various shot types, like a Flat or Topspin. In case you were snoozing during Toad's lessons, though, we've got the answers to each question the professor will ask below.

  • Question 1:  "Which shot has a high bounce?"

    • Answer: Topspin

  • Question 2:  "Which shot doesn't have much of a bounce but does curve to the side a lot?"

    • Answer: Slice

  • Question 3:  "Which shot doesn't really rotate but does move really fast?"

    • Answer: Flat

Once you've answered all the questions correctly, Toad will give you a sticker of a tennis ball commending you for your efforts. From here, you'll need only two more before you can move up to rank D and take on tougher opponents. After receiving your sticker, it's time to venture back outside for another practical test. Head to the practice court where a blue Toad will teach you a "special shot," the Star Shot.

All Rank D quiz questions and answers

Rank D's quiz covers player types, like Technical, Defensive, or All-Around—which isn't something your lessons have covered up until this point. Player types names can be quite self-explanatory, though, so Professor Toad's questions shouldn't trip you up too much. But in case you want to double check your answers before embarrassing yourself in front of Baby Luigi, we have you covered.

  • Question 1: What type of player has a strong shot by is slow on their feet?

    • Answer: Power

  • Question 2: What type of player can be confident in their speed?

    • Answer: Speedy

  • Question 3: What type of player has the widest reach?

    • Answer: Defensive

After correctly answering the final question of the Rank D quiz, Professor Toad will reward you with a flower sticker. Just like with the Rank E quiz, you'll need two more stickers before you can progress to Rank C.

All Rank C quiz questions and answers

Thought you were done with the classroom, didn't you? Guess again! This is a school, after all. The Rank C quiz will once again test your knowledge of player types, so if you struggled with the last one, you better hit the books. Or you could, you know, cheat off us.

  • Question 1: What type of player is skilled at hitting curve shots?

    • Answer: Tricky

  • Question 2: What type of player has a nice balance of offense and defense?

    • Answer: All-Around

  • Question 3: What type of player is good at hitting the corners of the court?

    • Answer: Technical

All Rank B quiz questions and answers

Rank B is a bit of a special quiz in that it's a two-parter. The first part covers shot types, much like the Rank E quiz, and when to use them. The second part of the quiz is all about courts. And no, none of that was actually covered in the lessons, which is probably why you're here.

Part one

  • Question 1: What shot should you use when you need to get back to the center of the court?

    • Answer: Slice

  • Question 2: What's a good shot to use when your opponent is up close to the net?

    • Answer: Lob

  • Question 3: What shot should you use when your opponent is pulling back from the net?

    • Answer: Drop shot

Part two

  • Question 1: On which court does the ball bounce the lowest and move the fastest?

    • Answer: Grass Court

  • Question 2: On which court does the ball move the slowest, making it easy to keep a rally going?

    • Answer: Clay Court

  • Question 3: On which court does the ball have a good balance of bounce and speed?

    • Answer: Hard Court

Diddy Kong and Waluigi stand in victorious poses as Daisy and Yoshi slouch on the ground defeated.

Like in any good Mario spinoff, you can play a variety of beloved characters in Mario Tennis Fever. That's right: Every one from Princess Peach to Petey Piranha to Waluigi (and even his baby version!) are taking the court to put their tennis skills to the test.

There's a total of 38 characters in Mario Tennis Fever, not including color variations of certain characters. Each character brings something a little different to the table, too. Some are faster, while others have more power behind their hits. Maybe you want a character who can put a little more spin on the ball, or maybe you'd rather have an all-rounder. Whatever your preferences are, there's a character in the game for you.

Unfortunately for players, not all of the characters are available at the start of your tennis career.
